It’s actually amazing-“A widow with 2 kids…” The way they flipped it to make it seem like he was directly suing this lady and her kids. Wow.
The fact that he won this case in court is incredible - a word for anyone here who is not familiar with libel cases : the plaintiff almost never, *ever* wins, because defamation is so hard to *prove* to a judge or jury, and the jury here, i'm sure consisted of average people who may have not liked Jesse and like Chris (like most people if I had to assume), and were convinced that Jesse had never been hit. In this video the news didn't go on to say the entire story about what Chris had said, and tried very much to portray Chris in the most positive light: Chris's claim was that Jesse wasn't just "criticizing the war", he was claiming that Jesse Ventura was saying "we deserved to lose a few (guys)', i.e. asserting that he was in some way celebrating the deaths of American soldiers, something Jesse to the best of my knowledge has never done or even joked about doing. Consider this: A decorated veteran publishes a book saying he fought with someone in a bar after hearing the man say he worshiped the devil and/or thinks child molesters are fine. During the book tour, the author is asked to identify the monster and names you. It makes headlines, helping propel the book’s sales. You file a defamation suit and, roughly a year later, the author/veteran unexpectedly dies. His multimillion dollar estate goes to his wife, an estate largely consisting of profits from the book that defamed you. Do you drop the suit? (source: The National Review, A.J. Delgado) Also, look up how Chris's widow Taya Kyle is filing suit against Chris's business partners in the company he created, Craft International, and how they essentially took away all the stocks that were transferred to her after his death. And there is more reporting on Jesse winning a defamation suit against Chris than Chris's business partners stealing his potentially multi-million dollar business from his family? Astounding.
You got to love the line "if the truth damages you then we live in a pretty sorry world." I completely agree with Ventura on this lawsuit, Kyle has been caught lying multiple times and it was clear that Ventura did not get knocked out.
You actually believe this p.o.s, Jesse Ventura? He talks about "honor," but doesn't know the meaning of the word. When a man dies, you don't continue to fight his widow and his orphans. That is, if you have a shred of honor you don't.
Jesse ventura is a good man, why are we so quick to believe Chris Kyle. Chris wanted to sell a book and he just went after Jesse Ventura for some reason. Chris Kyle was a navy seal sniper, that doesn't make him a HERO.
Unfortunately most of the media and public opinion is against despite him winning the case. It's a shame because if he wishes to run for political office again this will haunt him.
Just because people side with Ventura on this doesn't necessarily make them anti Chris Kyle. CK lied and hurt Ventura for profit. His story was good though and he saved a lot of soldiers. He was a hero to a lot of people. However he lied and even after death he is paying the consequences. If you hate Ventura because of his politics then fine but don't hate the man for protecting his reputation.
Chris Kyle has a history of tall tales, after this story broke some reporters started digging. It does not look good for Mr. Kyle. BY all accounts it looks like Kyle is a lair. Being a war hero give no one a pass to lie.
I want to thank both Chris Kyle and Jesse Ventura for the services to this county. Having said that Chris Kyle's book was not selling well until Chris stated in an interview with Opie and Anthony that he slugged Jesse Ventura. Then Fox's Bill O'Reilly wanted an interview to push a political agenda. We all know Fox News : ) It has been stated than many of the things in the book American Sniper are not true. I do think Chris Kyle wanted his book to be a big seller. If that included a little false information so be it may have been the attitude. I would think that if the altercation was true it would have been on the local news if not CNN. I would like to think by word of mouth everyone would have know by the time the book was released so why not stated who it was in the book? Because of this I have doubts that the altercation between Jesse and Chirs actually happened. I think Jesse did the right thing. I would have done it myself. What do you folks think?
I was shocked to learn that Kyle lied about Jesse talking trash and punching him. Kyle also lied about how many medals that he won and the US Navy corrected him about.
Look... to this day it is a tragedy what happened to Chris Kyle but maybe he should have been smarter than to take a comrade who was clearly suffering from severe post traumatic stress disorder or PTSD to a damn gun range. That being said, if Kyle lied about getting into a fight with Jesse Ventura in a bar then he lied. It is a shame that so many people would rather defend their own narrative of Chris Kyle than accept the truth about him. Shame on these CBS co-hosts for trying to paint Ventura as the villain and make him feel guilty for speaking truth they would rather not hear. He was there... they were not.
Kyle made the assertion that Ventura said SeAL's "deserve to lose a few." This statement was made by Kyle in several video & radio interviews. Since Chris Kyle was/is held in high regard, his statement sent waves through the SeAL community, and damaged Ventura’s reputation with his fraternal brothers. I wasnt there, but I seriously doubt Ventura would state that his fraternal brothers deserve to die... Especially since he was there in support of a BUD/S graduating class (Class 258).
Andy go to college for fucks sakes and take a first amendment course. When you print false acusations it's called libel. I'm guessing you think his reputation is "mud" because he believes 9/11 was an inside job. Your opinion of his reputation is not reality; most people look at his service in the Navy, being a Governor, and proponent for civil liberties as holding him in regards to a high reputation.
Bizz41 I'm always amazed by the presumption of people to know everything about a person before they met. "Andy go to college for fucks sakes..." Been to college, done that. I was the only triple major my year and ended up taking 24 hours a semester my senior year. "take a first amendment course" Based upon your remarks to me, you should be taking a course. In regards to defamation from private individuals about private individuals, it has always been governed by states libels laws until 50 years ago when the Supreme Court ruled it could be a first amendment violation. "When you print false acusations it's called libel." Not always true. The accusations must injure the libeled, must be given to a third party and must be given with malice. "I'm guessing you think his reputation is "mud" because he believes 9/11 was an inside job." There you go presuming again. Never even came to mind. The Jesse I know is from watching Portland Wrestling with my grandparents. It is also from a failed governorship and a history of saying stupid things like wondering if Jesus was gay. "Your opinion of his reputation is not reality." Once again, unless you have read everything I have posted, how do you know what my opinion is? If I was Jesse, I would be suing you right now.
Jesse gets off on proving people wrong. I think it's great the way he speaks to worshipers of the media. All he has ever done was ask questions, questions that make most people very uneasy. In this case he proves his innocence in a court of law and the media wants to play on our emotions, talking about a widow and children. Give me a break
Mr CK could not find a witness to speak on his faveor in a bar full of people, where the alleged fight took place... WOW ...then Mr J Ventura is 100% right.
He has always told it like it is. If someone lied about you, then told the world, you have a right to sue them. It's called the justice system. If the person who told the lie dies, the book is still out there, and is now probably selling more copies because of the death. But, the fact remains, if you feel you were defamed, you have the right to justice.
Whenever a picture of Jesse Ventura is shown opening his mouth, people tend to think he's arrogant, a liar, a narcissist, a mindless robot with no feelings, etc. The list goes on, which makes me feel horrible that people are hating on this guy. I used to think so, too, back then, but now, the more i hear from him, the more i like him and feel proud of what he's done. The thing is, Jim Janos is a human being who's very opinionated about our country, certain people, and the wars we're currently going through, just like everyone else. The point I'm trying to make here is this: Jesse Ventura is not "anti-American". America is anti-Jesse. The United States needs to start learning to welcome him in with open arms and to just leave him be, no matter if he's opinionated or not. He doesn't deserve all this negative criticism. :(
Say what you want. But Jesse makes good points. And at the end of the day... a court of law decided he was telling the truth not Kyle. People just need to get over it. The evidence is the evidence. Don't blame Jesse. Blame the person who lied about it. Unless you think Chris is incapable of lying... he's human. He made it up to sell more books. And it worked. He probably never knew it would end up like this though. Let it go people. He won, fair and square.
Ventura is getting the 1.8 million he won from Chris kyles greedy insurance company. Not 1 penny came from the wife's pocketKnow ur facts and stop using ur political prejudices to judge this man a former navy deal mayor and governor. What would you do if some said did this to you.., think for yourself
That reporter seemed to want to slam Jesse, but it turns out he was absolutely justified in suing. Too bad most people don't realize that it was all a lie. So I'm not sure the lawsuit did any good at all.
I agree with your stance on what happened and the truth shall set you free however Jesse did not sue the widow, he sued Kyle and upon Kyle’s death the suit was then taken over by Kyle’s estate/beneficiaries, to say Jesse sued a widow is not true, just more just more fallacies procured from kyles lies that were furthered by the estate to make Jesse look bad and another attempt by the Kyle family to defame Jesse in an attempt to gain sympathy to help them win the case, just so sad such a wonderful American has to prove himself innocent in the court of public opinion even though he did no wrong, whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty and more and more it’s peole having to prove innocence instead of prosecution having to use evidence to prove them guilty because so often it’s just assumed someone is guilty based on inaccurate accounts and even based on lies.
A good interview is combative, to a degree. Jesse NEEDED to be challenged publicly because he's so damn good at making his point. He's going to make his point more clearly and more emphatically than if the interviewers were coddling and spoon feeding him. They asked the questions the general public, who generally knows nothing about most things they opine, would ask when they heard Jesse won. By presenting Jesse with the questions of the uninformed the Governor had the opportunity to address each grievance in his own words. They asked a "tough" question, let Jesse answer, and didn't contradict him. This was a quality interview from both sides.
Jeez. The way they questioned the non liar ex Vietnam war verteran Navy Seal was like they were all annoyed with him for slapping baby Jesus or something…
He was not a SEAL. He did not complete the additional training required at the time to become a SEAL. He started calling himself a SEAL years later after his demo unit was disbanded.

He was UDT. After the UDT’s were disbanded, they were given additional training and re-designated as SeAL teams. This makes complete sense as SeAL teams started with UDT personnel...
This should have died when Chris Kyle died. You went after his widow and children, shame on you. If it is about just "clearing your name", then don't take the money. You cant go to SEAL reunions? What a SEAL you must be if you have the "courage" to stand up against a fallen SEAL's widow, but not enough balls to show up to a reunion. Shame on you. Period.
A fallen SEAL who lied(and not just this time) and defamed Ventura's character(a Veteran no less) for profit and a fallen SEAL's widow who was still happily PROFITING from that lie. She didn't have the "courage", nor the "decency" for that matter, to simply admit the truth and give up some of that money like she should have. Shame on you for being a moron. Period. Ventura had every right to clear his name and seek the truth, and the fact the family lost some of the money that was based on bullshit is just icing on the cake.
Delgado)
Also, look up how Chris's widow Taya Kyle is filing suit against Chris's business partners in the company he created, Craft International, and how they essentially took away all the stocks that were transferred to her after his death. And there is more reporting on Jesse winning a defamation suit against Chris than Chris's business partners stealing his potentially multi-million dollar business from his family? Astounding.
It seems, based on these comments, the court of public opinion is on Ventura’s side.
Photos shown in court back Ventura’s story.ua-cam.com/video/Ks5vmyuc_as/v-deo.html
A lot of people to this day believe Chris Kyle even when Venture cleared his name TWICE
You got to love the line "if the truth damages you then we live in a pretty sorry world." I completely agree with Ventura on this lawsuit, Kyle has been caught lying multiple times and it was clear that Ventura did not get knocked out.
CBS anchors messed with the wrong man, they looked so stupid trying to make Jesse the bad guy
So hard to accept that Chris Kyle could dishonor himself, his family, and his fellow SEALs. All to get a few extra sales...
***** You've never served where honor was important.
***** You're not reading what I originally wrote...ciao.
theTparkboys
doesnt matter how many kills he had. it was a job. quite simple. and he was a corrupt liar.
Deal with it because he did lie and it has been proven in court.
You actually believe this p.o.s, Jesse Ventura? He talks about "honor," but doesn't know the meaning of the word. When a man dies, you don't continue to fight his widow and his orphans. That is, if you have a shred of honor you don't.
Jesse is being vilified for telling the truth.
Don't know why but those women didn't believe it for a second shame on them
Jesse ventura is a good man, why are we so quick to believe Chris Kyle.
Much respect…dude can hold his own against these interviewers.
Chris Kyle has a history of tall tales, after this story broke some reporters started digging. It does not look good for Mr. Kyle. BY all accounts it looks like Kyle is a lair. Being a war hero give no one a pass to lie.
People lets think of this if jesse ventura really got hit in 2006 dont you think it would been all over the news in 2006
Shame on CBS!
Jesse Ventura is a great man with balls and not stupid like this CBS people that sounded like he did something wrong.
How did CK think he would get away with this?
There are many in our Armed Forces that will NEVER talk about the missions they were on, much less write a tell all book for profit.
I don't blame him for taking that to court. Also, this kind of crap is why I don't watch the news anymore.
We all know Fox News : )
It has been stated than many of the things in the book American Sniper are not true.
I agree with you.
I was shocked to learn that Kyle lied about Jesse talking trash and punching him. Kyle also lied about how many medals that he won and the US Navy corrected him about.
C.Kyle lied
He earned that win
So Crissy Kyle died as a liar? Well that's embarrassing.
Wow MSM is scary
He hurt his own family making up a dam lie for money
He (Ventura) had no reason to lie. Literally had nothing to gain from lying about that incident. Glad he stuck up for himself.
Jesse Ventura was right to sue Chris Kyle estate
I thought this was FOX news when she said he was "getting hammered in the court of public opinion"... hahaha
Good job Jesse.
Look... to this day it is a tragedy what happened to Chris Kyle but maybe he should have been smarter than to take a comrade who was clearly suffering from severe post traumatic stress disorder or PTSD to a damn gun range.
These journalist are a frigging joke with these questions. They are not even remotely trying to be fair and impartial.
Chris Kyle lied about a few things didnt he! Wasnt medals another one?
Kyle claimed that he was awarded two Silver Stars and five Bronze Stars. In reality he was awarded one Silver Star and four Bronze Stars.
How I wish Jesse would run for the Presidency.
How can he receive damages for a damaged reputation? If your reputation is already mud, how much worse could it get from a quote in a book?
It was not damaged before the book....
Jesse has a great reputation with me. I consider him to be one of the greatest Americans to ever live!
Man they did not like talking to him
Mr CK could not find a witness to speak on his faveor in a bar full of people, where the alleged fight took place... WOW ...then Mr J Ventura is 100% right.
The only thing in common that the witnesses testified for Chris Kyle was that a verbal altercation took place, but nobody saw the actual assault.
Jessie Ventura actually made sense. And I agree with a previous post. He sued Chris Kyle estate and not his wife.
Well done Mr. Ventura. Fucking BS story.
The news anchors are a joke
Congratulations jesse. I hope you run for president 2016
He has always told it like it is. If someone lied about you, then told the world, you have a right to sue them. It's called the justice system. If the person who told the lie dies, the book is still out there, and is now probably selling more copies because of the death. But, the fact remains, if you feel you were defamed, you have the right to justice.
Kyle's story doesn't seem to pass the smell test.
The point I'm trying to make here is this:
Jesse Ventura is not "anti-American".
In the long run kyle got his dessert.
One of those guys who's bigger, stronger, tougher... AND smarter than most.
I agree with Jesse.
That reporter seemed to want to slam Jesse, but it turns out he was absolutely justified in suing. Too bad most people don't realize that it was all a lie. So I'm not sure the lawsuit did any good at all.
Yes he sued the mother and children for their money...... when their money was from a liar who profited and benefited from lying in his book.
They probably made so much money from the books (over 50 million sold) that the 1.8 million hardly made a dent... In her insurance company.
+CALIGULA_HATH_SPOKEN so she still profited 3 million. She has nothing to bitch about then.
Im with ventura on this one !!
Jeez. The way they questioned the non liar ex Vietnam war verteran Navy Seal was like they were all annoyed with him for slapping baby Jesus or something…
CBS hit job
Good job Jesse, been following you for many years now, and I’m so happy you vindicated yourself!!👍
Jeese for the win
He's a REAL AMERICAN 🇺🇲
Jesse Ventura....
👏🏿👍🏿
That's my Hero!!!!!
He was not a SEAL. He did not complete the additional training required at the time to become a SEAL. He started calling himself a SEAL years later after his demo unit was disbanded.
former Navy Seal? you mean Ventura went back and became an actual Navy Seal? I mean, anyone that does their homework knows full well he was never a Navy Seal, but I might have missed something...
He was UDT. After the UDT’s were disbanded, they were given additional training and re-designated as SeAL teams. This makes complete sense as SeAL teams started with UDT personnel...
UDT and SEALS have the same training, and are completely interchangeable.
after he left. do some homework, gents
lighthammer2531 You can't reason with cowards like Brian
Speaking the truth? Yeah, if you're a Goebbels wannabe. Twatwaffle!
President Ventura, damn that would've sounded good.
Veteran widows should be taken care of, but they in no way deserve millions of dollars because of it, and certainly not in the manner with which they received it. Easy come, easy go.
Pyrela Oh, so she was there that day then? Wasn't aware of that I guess. You're right. He should sue her too for another couple of million.
muzicdominator524 Probably should. Fuck her and her dead husband. Lying pieces of shit.
No, she wasn't there that day, but Ventura changed his lawsuit to include Chris Kyle's estate after his death to have it include Chris Kyle's wife and children.
"Muzic" your sad and pathetic. Rub some Vagisil on your keyboard and STFU.
Jason York I don't have time for this. Grab some lube and enjoy the circle jerk. You people are pathetic.
I believe you Jesse! Also, a federal jury found you innocent. Go back to normal life with peace of mind!
He is a cowardly POS, taking money from a widow and her children.
You're a idiot..
I feel I do not have to explain why as any intelligent human will understand why
its mutual, I find you too be an idiot as well.
Laura Poye ....... lol
The money comes from the books publishers insurance company you moron. She doesn't pay a dime. It's a shame too. I was hoping SHE would personally have to pay but it's just the books publishers insurance company. Get the facts straight.
another POS
Since when does public option equal to a few comments online! chris kyle lied on this man! Someone should have to pay!
This is a man with guts, integrity & grit ! I would vote for him for president any day. He doesn't care what people think of him!
The cbs people all acted like Ventura wasn't telling the truth
My God this is the most biased media questioning that I’ve ever heard.
Good for Jesse Ventura for sticking up himself here. The way they ripped Ventura was sick.
