Early Ford Tranny Rebuild (Late 1938 Case)

This is an instructional video on how to properly rebuild your early ford transmission. This can be used to rebuild either synchronized or non-synchronized transmissions 35-39. Matt's transmission is synchronized with the double detent. Earlier transmissions without synchronization can use the same basic steps to rebuild just make adjustments for no synchros etc.

Also the wrong thruster washer.. that cluster takes the 4 pin one that was left on the bench. It has the 4 slots

I thought 32 on up were syncro-mesh gears. Albeit the 39 is the most desirable.

39 is a double detention shift, just a better setup than earlier.

I’m pretty sure you didn’t put the seal in the front bearing cover
