Custom Fabricated SHIFTER Relocation assembly - 1939 Ford transmission
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 кві 2023
- On this episode we create a shifter relocation setup to get rid of the original swan neck style shifter handle we made, this was made for a shorter shift pattern and for ease of shifting while racing, along with more leg room.

I went with my stepdad to pick up a motor of some sort once and I just wanted to say that I adore your accent, I love canada
just a beautiful little project to make this gem shine a little more!
Jordan ..looks like your mov'in into top gear with this project..great job
Thanks Graham
Its great when you start designing something with a little apprehension (possibilities of something not working), and it works out in the end. Great Job.
That’s exactly right. Didn’t know what to expect but happy with the outcome
Pleasure to watch Jordan. Well done.
Thanks Paul !
👀🦢 Wow! Just noticed! You have made a big "KEY" to the transmission! Epic! Dude! We are watching 🦢👀
Thanks!
Nice engineering, excellently done, looks the time period.
Thanks Joe!
Awesome mod to solve a problem. Well done
In my humble opinion,l believe the top of the front rod should have been shorter. That would have given you a shorter throw on the back rod, or shifter knob. Old Bill 66, Alabama, Southern, USA.
That’s a great idea. I was worried I wouldn’t get enough leverage but maybe I would have!
That linkage worked out well, initially I thought the connecting rod would flex too much but not so as it seemed to shift fine when you took it home in the last vid, nice work Jordan. Cheers Greg
Yeah I did as well, but seemed to work really well so far!
I had the same thought. Especially the old clevises. Proved me wrong. Nice work.👍
Really nice job on the shifter there Jordan! You just keep improving on the car that already was a work of art! Thank you!
Thanks Dale!
Nice job matey another great modification to the midnight special, Sorry to hear that it maybe moving on to pastures new but needs must when the devil rides.
Look forward to the next installment Jordan

You bet! We will see where the future takes this one.
Good job, from the USA.
Wow, Jordan!!! What a wonderful project! I'll be sad to see this piece of automotive ART go to a new home (and out of our collective consciousness). I've really enjoyed watching you develop this amazing race car! THANK YOU!!!
We will see where the future takes her. For now she’s warm in the shop ready to go in circles
Happy Easter. Great job. It turned out very well there. Hopefully it works well for you. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Making. God Bless.

Hi Jordan, happy Easter mate. That gear shifter looks quite stable when you’re driving.
Thanks Paul! Hope she will handle what I give it! Haha
Awesome work Jordan. Form and function all in one package. Thank you for your time.

Very nice job Jordan Looks Great Happy Easter 🐣
Thank you! You too!
I think that is a quite elegant solution!😊
Yuppers, a-nother great video with great explanation of the process and engineering! Thank you. Go Bennetts Customs, keep moving forward!

Great job!,so simple yet so effective!.
Wow , cant believe youd sell it!.
But theres always the roadster to pay for aswell i suppose.
Keep up the great work.
If the price is right and the buyer is happy I don’t mind letting her go now, will be a sad day most definitely
Very nicely done. 👍
Tidy work mate
Superb work 👏👏👌
Cheers Chris
Thanks Chris!
Perfect work kid.
Did the job!
Excellent work, as usual. That's one more problem, sorted.
Another great video guys!
well Jordan might be an eyesore to use a sway bar end link for a pickup point but in all actuality I really couldn't tell what it was unless you told me it was a sway bar end link after you fabricated it all up into a clean shifter 👍
Thanks Charles!
Nice work.
I dig it! It's got us going on an awesome ride with you! A sweet setup for the swan shifter relocation! Still on the train "Midnite Special"!!! Watching you taking us on your "Midnight Special"!!! You the man!!! Rock on!!! What's next Jordan? Like-Subscribe-Leave a comment!!! As always! Later Dude!!!

Buen trabajo, gracias por mostrarlo, saludos desde Argentina!!
Nice work on the shifter Jordan , still looks awkward or maybe that was the camera angle , I like the idea of the shifter on the outside of the capsule , maybe at or near steering height , love the build all the same , good luck in your race and remover a mask 😷😉👍
Excuse the spellcheck lol, that was remember a mask
Thanks Anthony, I’m happy with how it works, good and comfortable
Sounds like a bit of George Throuhgood in there
Great work.
If you have to do something like this again google 2cv gear lever.
Fantastic Jordan! Do you have an old timer in your lineage by the name of da Vinci? haha
Great job buddy! I thought that was what you were going to do when you mentioned it.
I thought , "boy if I did that, there would probably be a lot of cut and try"! Really impressive mate! Thanks for another fun video! Cheers
Hahaha I wish! thanks Jon, happy how it turned out for sure
Cool!!! You are a wizard!! Dude!! The one that takes us on a magical ride!! On the "Midnight Special" !! Good Morning! Jordan!! Australia! I'm watching! I can dig it! How far down the rabbit hole, are we going to go!! Stay tuned! There is more......Later Dude! As always... Like-Subscribe-I down with ringing the Bell !!! Comment!! Midnite Express signing off!!
Another refinement completed. I don't remember what steering box you're using; 50's F1 truck? My stock 50 F1 steering was rebuilt but still has some slop i it. I will address the linkage this winter.
I believe it’s a series 1 or 2 Land Rover steering box
Bravo!!🕹
Better keep the seatbelt tight mate don't want crushed nuts 👍👍😲🇦🇺
No kidding!
Right on Jordan. Love the thought put into the shift linkage. Do you have an engineering degree? I can only imagine the cool stuff you'll design as the years go by.
I definitely don’t, maybe a degree in head scratching!
Engineers are often overrated. I have a friend who was an engineer who often phoned me up to ask for my thoughts on problems he was trying to solve. I have no post secondary education. I told people I had a Phd from UHK. That is a post hole digger from the University of Hard Knocks.
@@chrisallen2005 Overrated maybe...but without engineers that whole Moon landing thang I doubt could have been pulled off by shade tree mechanics.
Jordon, just a thought but if you have to much flex would a steering helm joint work as a stabiliser ? The only thing is making it invisible. I may be well off the mark, you will no I’m sure.
Cool bender .who made it.when.looks like its from the 20s,works great.i do hrd.hard lines it sure would be handy.
I’m not sure the brand, got it from an old guy. Max is 1/2” but it rips!
jordan, are you considering a full belly pan for the racer?
Yup it’s happening.
👍👍😎👍👍
Be careful not to stand on it hoping in and out.
I hate that devel pic. on the wall they do great work
Satan
at 38:40, how long have you lived in Australia, because no-one likes a " SHOWOFF"😆😆😆😆😆😆
