Fun Fact: This show was planned to be aired on The CW, but Gina Rodriguez feared that the age of show’s main protagonist (12 years old) wouldn’t be appropriate for the network’s target audience. So she and CBS Television Studios pitched the idea to Disney to be released on their streaming service.

It’s actually from CBS Television Studios which is a division of Viacom that owns Nickelodeon and Paramount. Disney+ is the distributor. I think if it wasn’t on Disney+, it would’ve been on CBS mainly starring Gina Rodriguez which flashback sequences alternating like the failed CBS sitcom “Me, Myself & I”. Good thing it’s not on CBS because they would’ve cancelled it.

yeah 1 year ago they removed it forever and it's owned by paramount, but they didn't even want to stream it on paramount+. :(

I’m glad they’re representing Latinos more and more on tv and movies. But why are they always Mexican, cuban, Puerto Rican or Dominican? Or if they’re not, they’re mixed with any of the four
i have yet to see an argentinean in mainstream media. and where are the colombians, uruguayans, venezuelans, peruvians, and chileans??
None of the actors in that series are Cubans. Same for "One Day at a Time," none of the actors portraying Cubans in that series are Cubans. So, those programs are not representing Cubans. Those characters are about as Cuban as Nigerians are Japanese. They really represent a generic "Latino" character if anything.

@@violettbellerose1173 They are not of Cuban stock. They are not Cuban Americans like for instance, Ana de Armas, Bella Thorne, Eddy Cibrian, Perez Hilton, Gloria Estefan, Pitbull, Andy Garcia, etc.. Those are Cubans. The actors in those series are Dominicians, Puerto Ricans, Mexican Americans, etc....

If you like the idea of this show, I recommend you watch the show Jack and Bobby. It was a great show but lasted 1 season. It was like The West Wing meets One Tree Hill and I believe it was actually done by the producers of the West Wing.

This show is so good!! I really wish it was being advertised more so that it actually has a shot of getting renewed for a second season. This really is the perfect show for middle schoolers going through the same things Elena is and it's important for them to see that they're not alone and how to fix their problems. I just hope that people start to give it a chance so it can be renewed!! I'm sick of the "everything is perfect" Disney Channel and it's refreshing that Disney+ is trying to up its game

I mean there are certainly exceptions and Disney does focus a lot of shows on kids. I don’t know, I think it’d be nice to teach some kids that it’s okay to not always have friends, and that sometimes you just gotta be okay with being alone, but you won’t be alone forever
This looks pretty good, I’m looking forward to it.
So excited to see this series once I get Disney+ and the premise is very interesting. On top of that, having Gina Rodriguez producing, guest starring and doing the narration as the adult version of Elena, this looks to be another series hit for Disney+.
Also, as this series was produced by CBS Television Studios and not based on Disney's existing IP, hopefully this and the upcoming "Earth to Ned" (which is produced by The Jim Henson Company) would lead to more

Can’t say anything for Middle East unfortunately. There is no confirmed release date yet. I also unfortunately don’t think that Poland counts as „western europe“. I know that Germany/Austria/Italy will get Disney+ on March 31st, don’t know about countries to the east of them. Eastern Europe is set to release at earliest in October 2020. But it could be as late as September 2021.

I am an Indian-Fijian who has ran in Canadian politics. Seeing a brown Latinx female shown as a presidential leader is something we need to see often. I nvr liked Disney tbh but this actually has me curious.
