I can relate to your last game. I was playing once with drawing Sada only on my turn 6 the first time. And by then I've already played two Pokegears too. Only one Sada was priced. Still the odds of drawing Sada that late in the game must be so small.
Wish more pokemon players did deck profiles like this. Jake ewart was playing a counter catcher over then drum pretty good if a great tusk gets stuck in active without having to use penny as your supporter, and gren Is the draw engine at that point I guess.
Ive slotted in a couple Switch carts myself to help avoid stranding my active and make switching into a turn 1 attacker easoer to do. Im not great with item ratios so it might not be optimal. I just like having extra switch options.
First, nice flag. Second, sorry for the wall of text, just a lot to say. Is it underrated tho? Seems to being played as much as it is good. Over a month of PTCGL online brackets it had 5% total representation (For context, Zard is 18% and the 2nd most popular is Iron Hands 8%) . It has an overall 50% winrate with a -21% conversation rate to top cut which is really really scary. This is mostly due to it's landmine matchups It wins vs Chien-Pao, Lost Zone Box, Giritina Lost Box, Lugia and Garde. It's dead even against Roaring Moon. But the kicker is then loses to *Charizard* Hands, and ArcTina. So you beat half the meta and lose to the other half in terms of playable decks you beat. But this deck has an AWFUL Zard matchup so it's not really winning vs half the meta when 1/5th of it is Charizard. And that % of Zard only gets higher as you reach top cut. An AWFUL 38% win rate out of 257 games over a month span. That's a massive sample size and really shows that even if you dodge all the Hands players that normally flood the early bracket (again, 8% of decks in tournament) you still have all the Zard players in top cut to fight through with that kind of win rate It's just a true middle of the pack, i'd say exactly rated as it should be. It loses vs the two most common decks in the format (Zard at 17% and Hands at 8%). But wins vs most the decks that beat Zard other than ArcTina.
Very solid list bro, I've been playing ancient box a lot and love it more then zard, I would recommend if you run into a lot of zard is playing defiance band and cobalion they help a ton, and definitely play a second super rod and you don't really need a third counter catcher. It's a preference thing I'm a weird builder, but very solid list, and love the fact it's blinged out❤

where'd you go to buy the cards for the deck? I wanted to play ancient box too but didnt know where I can find all the loose cards without ripping myself

That is a cool choice for the ace spec. I think awakening drum will be a bit more consistent tho

penny is to pick up your radiant greninja when you up againts a stall deck. you dont want greninja got counter catcher in to the active.

I used a combination of tcgplayer and ebay. Sometimes you can find even better prices locally, but it's a bit of legwork as well.

I didnt find it necessary or consistent in this build. I do love it with roaring moon ex though
