Seems like the issue has to be addressed with new Japanese sets, maybe its time to have a "holo" in every pack - similar to English packs?

didnt know this was a thing! explains why there is a guaranteed reverse to make the detector useless these days with new sets and well as stopping the weighing with the extra weight on all packs.
Hopefully Japanese main sets will also make the adjustment soon

Very interesting experiment at least for Japanese packs. Buyer beware of buying loose Japanese packs from stores that are not trustworthy. Very eye opening! Great video. You should try it with older English sets that don't have guaranteed holo Sword and Shield and earlier era
No. Sw&sh sets have guaranteed reverse.
I tried it with some. Gym challenge, gym heroes, jungle and fossil packs beep regardless of no holo, except for team rocket. The foil for most wotc era packaging must be a different kind than modern Japanese packaging foil. I tried it with empty packs too and verified it was the packaging that set it off. I reloaded the empty team rocket pack with cards (not to fake seal it, just for the experiment) and that one only beeped when I put a holo in it. But I also didn’t have a big enough sample size for this to be 100% reliable data.

Yes never buy loose JP packs, english is pretty safe still as long as it is post code card

For us packs couldn’t you just scan the parts where there wouldnt be any holo normally and then if it beeps it’s a full art or something, or would it not work because possibility of reverse holo?

For my electrician jobs i have a power meter that tests without actually touching any wires and senses the curreents around it. Makes me wonder if it would work also. Tho i dont rip japanese

does it work on English packs, esp SWSH and SV?
wont work on english back from swsh and sv as they have at least 1 reverse holo card in each pack and the machine will always pick it up
It would be interesting if you could find the Secret Rare alone with this method.
It should have more metal than the other cards.
Otherwise i don't see why someone would use a metal detector when you can weigh japanese packs anyway.
Dodgy seller might, because holo, ex cards can still potentially worth something on the competitive scene and they could easily sell back to the store to get some money back

English maybe...not sure...dont have english vintage packs at all. For Japanese, most of the vintage packs would at least have 1 holo in it, so maybe not either

Maybe but I think it’s equally important to make people aware the possibility that are out there and more importantly raise this concern to Pokémon.
More awareness is DEF necessary this is just sad that Pokémon hasn't addressed these issues yet! People that are scammers already know these methods and other shady practices. It's the innocent buyers that need to be aware when buying loose packs in general until Pokémon company addresses this issue because until they do its going to continue unfortunately.
