    I haven’t heard of any failures coming out of local dealership. The only recall on my 23 platinum was the reprogram for the transmission/parking issue. They also corrected a bumper attachment. I’ve had 6 vehicles from this dealership and they’ve never turned their backs on us. I’ll always go Toyota.

      I looked at a Carfax on a pre-owned 2023 with low miles. Last service performed for the previous owner simply said short block. What are the chances the tech got all the tolerances right when he put it back together? They normally plug their diagnostic tool in and change parts. Most are not capable of rebuilding engines - that's not their background. Hard pass on the vehicles until we have a cut off VIN # when there has been an actual design or part change made to fix the problem.

    I bought a 2024 1794 limited edition a month ago before I heard about the problems with the 3rd gen. I just had my oil changed and there was not any metal shavings. I owned a 2014 1794 for 10 years and am disappointed in Toyota for getting rid of the V8, but I have to say, I love the way the 2024 drives. But I’m also angry about changes like the engine shutting off angry an hour of sitting , and there’s no override. But it seems to me that the reactions on social media are irrationally disproportionate. First, it’s usually recommended to not buy first or even second year vehicles. The first gen Tundra had issues after it’s release. And, there wasn’t social media back then. So, the more you pay attention to overblown hate’n with the mass psychosis effect of social media, then you lose informed, historically literate perspective.

    The hybrid trucks are not in the recall group. I wonder if these drivetrains are built elsewhere, Japan?
    With the engine recalls you have to think it came down to a couple of people not engaged to do their jobs properly to clean out the engine machining debris or the process used wasn’t correct and consistent to complete the job.

  • @TwinTurboS-br4rm
    @TwinTurboS-br4rm 5 місяців тому

    I feel like you left something out...like; Debris during manufacturing may not have been properly cleaned from the engine during assembly, risking performance problems. The concern is that with some engines, debris may interfere with the operation of the crankshaft main bearings and cause the bearings to fail. This could result in engine knocking, running rough, stalling, or not starting.

In this case though, govt emissions will continue to choke out reliability for a “clean future”. Unless a massive change happens, this is what we have now. My hope, is that a company like Toyota can navigate their way through these dark waters, and give us the best product possible. If anyone can do it, my money is on them. Stand by.

They will probably put an extended warranty on the engine and only fix the ones that give trouble like they did on the Camry's in 07, 08, 09 for burning oil. Toyota has a big mess on their hands with the Tundra's now. Why would anybody buy one with this outstanding issue and no fix.
    Who wants to buy one when they have to rip the engine into pieces to put in a short block that may or not fit it. They should completely new engines in them (crate engines) instead of taking the short cut of a short block. Bring back the 5.7 V8
