- Reviewing Sennheiser's Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds, some of the best new Bluetooth buds in 2024. These TWS cost over £250 in the UK so they're as expensive as the Bose and Sony earbuds, but the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 boast strong audio quality and codec support. Noise cancelling is upgraded, as is the battery life - but are they worth that price?
The Momentum 4 earbuds support Snapdragon Sound, AptX Adaptive & Lossless, etc. You'll also have Auracast support when Sennheiser adds it later in 2024.
Battery life is good, offering over five hours of playback with ANC switched on. You've also got wind reduction for noise cancelling, which it certainly needs after the previous gen. The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 also offer excellent app support including top notch touch controls.
However, there are some issues, including some mic distortion in noisier environments. And of course that asking price. So are you tempted by the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 buds? Let us know your thoughts and check out my reviews of the best TWS of 2024 on Tech Spurt!

I like them so much i purchased black copper and black graphite .
Just in case anyone was wondering: the background music is 'Underground Academy by Hanu Dixit'
Absolutely love these
Sent mine back and opted for the AZ-80. Left ear bud had a high pitch noise similar to the mtw3. By the 4th day the keaft earbud would not work with transparency mode on and was stuck in a semi wind and anc mode. The white noise is absolutely noticable.
ALL MW4 has the insane hissing and screeching in the left bud, if they don't fix this with firmware very soon, i will leave them as company after close to 20 years of business. The MW3 and 4 have been SHIT for the price.
@@FireWaiaits not sennheiser you know anymore. They sold the consumer part after the momentum 2 to a different company (i think switzerland) and they are now produced in china not germany anymore.
Sent back the AZ-80 because fit was awful. They fall out was too easily.
I love mine better than my xm4's. Music sounds more balanced to me and I love that I can put the buds in and start watching a movie on my TV and than go in my phone and listen to music without having to click and swap. But one thing I do love that my xm4's didn't have is the option to mute a call.
I've been using the second generation for 3 years and theyre still pretty great, plus I got them as a free upgrade over the first gen as the case hinge cracked. If you can get them b stock/refurbished they're excellent value.
Lucky yours are still going, mine died a few weeks ago at 3 year old
Will you review the Master & Dynamic MW09 earbuds?
Fingers crossed on these after moving away from Sony from all of the battery issues
My personal experience with the second generation is that the battery is legitimately excellent for a high end earbud, I use transparency mode all the time and they last hours, the case can last days.
You won't regret it. The sound is excellent with the "sound personalization" feature.
I'll give you some advice... Buy the Comply Foam Tips. They're built with memory foam... Helps with the bass and mids. And upgrades the noise cancelling. You won't regret it one bit.
Also: remember to activate de aptx HD in the Sennheiser App settings so you get the "HiFi" sound
What did you think in the end? I had xm4’s that died from the battery issue and the refusal of help from Sony has made me a never again Sony customer
@@elisamuelpedraza8228 any particular brand/style of tips?
A short review but ok. They are actually IP54 this time, not X4. Mic quality will be improved with software update for sure
I'm little shocked by low mic quality. I would assume mic working better in such buds.
Currently i have the Sennheiser TW4 and the Audio Technica ATH-TWX9. Hope u can review the Audio Technica coz for me it's a sleek looking earbuds with both touch control and physical buttons (stem design) and sounds amazing making it close enought to the Momentum TW4!! it's an underrated earbuds.
Is the audio quality better than from the TW3 ?
I'm still rocking the TW2s for years and years now. I'm surprised how not much have changed. I'll use these until they (or I) die.
Same here for years, just lost one of them😢
I've had a free upgrade from TW3 to TW4 ;))
Connection seems better than the 3s, less total breaks and random noises. Otherwise it feels like a very incremental update.
Comparison to the previous Sennheiser missing 3??
Can you comment about the Passthrough Mode? I use it quite often, when walking/running. Does ANC work with the Passthrough? If so, how does it effect it? Kinda need to know this, as these are under consideration for my next buds.
I really love the sound quality of Sennheiser momentum true wireless I've owned 1,2 and 3 especially 3 when the sound is personalized but the problem is they just don't last for more than 12 months The left side always breaks like sound will keep breaking up until there's no more sound on it. And it's always the left side. And you know what I'm talking about if you use it a lot and I'm talking a lot since I use it for listening to podcasts when I'm working for 12 hours then when I'm working out in the gym. So if you are buying a Sennheiser warranty is a must..
Oioioi, what about that Zenfone 11 ultra easter egg when showing connected devices?
Uncle Spurt!! What smartwatch is that? Or is it gonna be featured in an upcoming video?
i recon its the galaxy watch 6 classic in silver with a different band and a skin for the bezel
Uncle Spurt you ever do headphones reviews? I hate buds and need to upgrade my 5 year old Sony's soon.
Get on it will you, please and thank you.
What watch are you wearing?
"Tech Spurt likes this earbuds he's just doesn't know it yet🎅🎅🎅🐡🥕"
Oneplus 12 has 8 gen 3 but doesn't have aptx lossless
Does that matter if your earbuds support aptx lossless?
I'm looking for earbuds where I can use only one of the buds at one time while the other stays in the case. is that true wireless? can I get any of the true wireless?
my jabra elite didn't work. it felt when I put one back in the case and it shut off
For generic background music the track you chose sounds alright.
it sounds better than ipod pro 2 and Bose quiet comfort ultra. App loses connection with earbuds even while they playing music. App forces me to follow the initial connection again. Kinda bulky but they fit securely more than the Apple and not as well as Bose. The case size is a real turn off, especially in the summer when no extra jacket pockets.
Returning mine. I get occasional connection drops for a couple seconds. Also hissing in left earbud on ANC. And the app doesn’t work on more than one device at a time so multipoint is not really true. Just not at quality level of a $300 set.
Sounds like the MTW3. Quality sucks.
I had the previous ones and the sound is great but the fit was not. Had some problems with them after six month. Connection is not that great as well. But to be honest sound and the app are good. By the way what is that yellow beauty on your wrist?!
Bluetooth connection is much better than predecessor.
wrong answer
The question is what is that yellow beauty on your wrist?

Hey Uncle Spert, just picked up some Devialet Gemini 2s, f*** me they’re good, maybe bag yourself a set and do a review?
Fără înjurături 😡
@@EmmieSuksai sorry. My bad
I had to return these because the white noise in transparency is unacceptable for $499 AUD (also the mic is awful)
I own Momentum 4 and True Wireless 2. Unfortunately after only 3 years old my TW2 have died, hopefully the TW4 last longer
My 1 TW2 earbud which had its audio stopped working but the touch controls still working, started working again after a flick by the finger onto it. Would that fix work for you..?
@@eeboy3 thanks eeboy, I have the exact same issue as you but mine is the right bud. I've tried that it sounds as though I've dropped it in water but I haven't. I might just sell them as spares
@@eeboy3 your channel is cool!
Uppeermost orifices, I'll never think of my ears the same way again!
lol you sold me on the rumbley bollocks
Improved nozel action, lol 😂 😂
I am fine with my samsung buds2pro🎉
The MTW 3 was supposed to support 3 device multi pairing. They really are stuck at just 2 this time, huh? That was going to be the biggest draw for me--there are so many similarly performing devices out these days that only extra features like auracast (that I'd only use maybe twice a year) and device multi-pairing are differentiating.
Next to the Auracast feature, they are top in sound quality, Bluetooth performance and audio codecs.
@@thesupergroover1339 I still have my original Momentum True Wireless earbuds that support AptX-LL and unfortunately this codec hasn't been added to any newer devices, but it provided the lowest latency of any codec by far, while maintaining IMO great sound. BT performance on the MTW 1 was just fine--only problem was battery issues. Nowadays AptX adaptive with the low latency profile is just acceptable, and in order to try out LC3 I will need to buy a very new phone or dongle just to try it. On that note, try and find just *one* review of the MTW 4 that actually tests and reports on LC3 performance. Reviewers don't seem to care enough to test it.
Seems technics is the only one to do 3 device multipoint. Know for most people, 2 devices is more than enough but I'm quite curious why only technics so far
Is it that much better than old ones does not seem that different
Had two separate MW3 buds and one pair of MW4, and i love the sound of them after some heavy tweaking (it's shit out the box) but the MW3's both died from faulty batteries in the left bud, on the same day, despite being bought a year apart.
The MW4 is the same, shit sound out the box, but lovely after some tweaking. And the personalization tool actually works well for us that don't understand the finer details of an EQ.
Everything is the same as MW3, but perhaps a tiiiiiiiiiny bit better.
Except the Transparency mode. The insane hissing and screeching on the left plug when you have it on is beyond me how it made it out the factory. Apparently ALL MW4's have this issue? That is absolutely pathetic and for me, using them at work and constantly going between transparency and music to talk to people, i can not stand it. I will send them back soon unless they ship a firmware-update or something, and after having been a customer for well over 20 years, it feels really sad to see Sennheiser fuck up 2 products in a row this badly....
But at least they sound great when playing music?
What do you mean by "switching from transparency to music" ? That's how I expect any earbuds to operate. Enable transparency to talk to people, disable it when you're done, and you have the option to pause music on transparency mode
@@zilliq-qz5uw Yes, but the high-pitched noise makes it unbearable to be in transparency mode.
@@FireWaia oh I get it now ! Sorry I misread, thanks for clearing it up
Can anyone give a real answer on if these should be bought or not and address the earbuds dying problem? I’ve seen so many comments about them dying after a few months and I can’t find any vids about them dying.
They released on March 1st
$250!!!.... These companies make millions off of us.... If you pay for it, they will keep raising it!
Cmf buds $60... And they are great!
Bro said cmf buds 💀 literally Chinese garbage
Sennheiser momentum true wireless peaked on the 2nd gen. Those I absolutely cherish. Great buds. I can't stand 3rd generation, and these are a spitting image. I'll pass. I just ordered a back up pair of 2nd Gen.
already ordered replacing my tw3
My love tis Bangladesh
Anyone try these under a motorcycle helmet?
If I end up buying these I'll try it out with my motorcycle helmet. I'll say my Sony earbuds are similar sized and I wouldn't trust it though.
Aang avatar
Too bulky for my liking, not seen a better set for the money than the samsung buds 2
I'm still using my buds2

Couldn't hear you swearing in the mic test. Couldn't hear you at all actually..
Should ii buy momentum 4??!! Or go for 3!??
Pls help
The mic on this is shiit
👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
Call quality sucks. I'm returning them.
The days when earphones were for music 😂
A pair of 20 pound skull candy earphones are just as good an option, anyone paying 200 plus quid want their brains testing
Yeah I have pixel buds pro because I have a pixel 7a and I like the Google assistant integration ECT but I was ok because I got them new for 130 quid on Amazon which considering being true wireless they wont last forever battery wise u have to find the balance
If you don't give a crap about sound quality, ANC, custom EQs, Ambient sound, good call quality and many more, then by all means stay with your skull candies and shut up. This product is not for you.
Yeah... no. If you can't hear the difference, that's fine, and you're lucky. You probably are just satisfied with the TV sound, without external speakers (eg: a soundbar), too. You get to save money, which is always good. That being said, for the more distinguished ear, who CAN hear the difference, paying more, get's you more. You can hear the difference. I've used buds from the £20 range upto the £300, and generally the sweet spot is around the £100-150 mark. Going above that gives you higher diminishing returns. At this price point I'd expect great sound, that's a given, but you're more competing with great ANC, latency, various gimmicks, and so on. Personally, I need good passthrough, with ANC blocking the harsher tones of the street. Sadly, this review didn't really touch on the Passthrough mode, it looks like he kept it disabled.
It depends on your priorities....I don't want to waste life time listening to bad sound quality.
no lol
Hands down, the worst earbuds I ever tried. Fastest return I ever done to Amazon.
How come?
@@ethyn2912 I ordered the Jabra Elite 10, test them for 20+ days and sent them back when I realized the MTW4 are being released, because i thought they should be better. Oh boy was I wrong! I got the MTW4 3 days ago and sent them back in less than 24 hours. They feel outdated as hell. Yes, great sound, but terrible design, fit, heavy, subpar ANC, ridiculous case, bad call quality (just pray that there is no wind, or nobody will hear you). They are not even close to the Jabras in many areas. And the Jabras still have amazing sound. Not to mention in comparison IP54 for the MTW4 to the Elite 10's IP57. Its a big money grab with zero research and development since 2022 that the MTW3 were released. I dont understand why anyone would spend so much money for these and reward a company that doesnt take the effort to improve their products. I ordered the Jabra Elite 10 again today. Its not even close in value for money and overall performance.
I have the Jabra Elite 10 and found the bass was dead. I use Poweramp App to sort the EQ out and they sound amazing. I have ordered the MTW4 and will decide between the two. Both from Amazon and will be in the return period.
Can anyone share a real review, not this useless advertisement for us who have owned sennheiser buds before. Were only here cuz we wanna know if theres any reason to upgrade from the 3-s to the 4-s. Thank you!
