Thanks for checking this one out guys I really appreciate the support! Check out the video description to see timeline bookmarks for particular sections of the disassembly and installation!!
NinjaxBart
Hell yeah bro
The black housing that the c light is on is that after market? If so where can I get it from?
I have the same head lights as those but my tail lights and regular head lights don't work anymore, the guy before me set it up and I'm about to dismantle it all then start from beginning because I can't find solution unless the bulbs burnt out like the one in passenger side tail light.
Best headlight modification video on UA-cam. Been watching countless tutorials on this mod, safe to say yours is the best.
Dude! Thank you! I super appreciate the kind words!
Agreed!!
Thank you for the in-depth guide for the Limited/STI headlight. This might be the first detailed one on UA-cam!!
Thanks man I appreciate the support !!
I baked my STi's lights a while ago, just to clean the lens but damn it a sketchy job! Nice work, the lights look awesome! 👌
Chase Schrader I don't got the ballz to bake my sti lights 😩
You helped me out so much, thank you!
I've been contemplating doing this for a while, I have the same headlights as you. This how to is perfect, I think I am going to pull the trigger on this. The only difference is I already have a C-Light DRL/ Fog Bezel Kit, so I would just tap into that.
Glad you went ahead with the switchback C-lights, probably my favorite lighting mod for the car! Good job!
My favorite too! Also the Demon Eyes though... are coming soon ;) Next video!!
I'm a year late, but thanks for your install video. This really helped me out when I installed mine. It was a scary job but hell of worth it.
I have a question which may be ignorant. I have a 2017 WRX and do not like the highbeams as DRL's. I have been considering and reconsidering what would be most efficient and preferred way to deal with this. I'm thinking that I want to set up my C lights to be my DRL's. Am I right to assume that I could do this on my limited model with the harness that diode dynamics sells?
Yes, I have a 17 Limited too and if you install the the DD harness at the OEM DRL Resistor ( 13:47 ) that would automatically disable the high beam DRL and run the C-light as DRL. This won't affect your actual high beam functionality.
Another type of DRL you could consider are the JDM sequential fog light bezels or Modified Technologies sequential C-lights. I love the sequential turn signals on those.
Nimish Gujarathi I disconnected the DRL resistor and it appears that I have the c lights on the Limited as my DRL, no dimmed halogen low beam. Is there a reason I should plug in a harness in the DRL resistor and run to c lights if I don't upgrade the c lights, or do the same to fogs if I want to run them as DRLs.
@@deborahfisk1260 So on a 17 Limited both the C lights and low intensity high beams are turned on as DRL, unplugging the resistor just disables the high beams and keeps the C lights
You will have to run a harness from the resistor plug to C light ONLY if you install Diode dynamics C lights.
There is a different process to run fog lights as DRL and fog light bezels can be bought separately and ran as DRL
Thanks a bunch. I followed the video and everything went well. Just have to reinstall the lights and connect the DRL resister tomorrow
Awesome piece of kit! These dudes are super pro!
Thanks Nelson!!
Awesome job. Way deeper than a lot of the videos out there on this instal go. You're lucky the base I think is more of a pain cause you have to paint and splice. I opted for buying pigtails for my turns and stock C light so I didn't have to splice into the stock wiring harness. Love your videos. I'd be happy to answer any base model questions people have!
Dude thanks so much for the kind words and support!! Really appreciate it! You should tag me on Instagram in a pic so I can see you Subie! @Shpixx!
NinjaxBart I've actually posted your car a few times my best friend and I run a Subaru account (6staroileaters) on Instagram I posted my car on it I'll tag you in it right now under my person account which is same as my UA-cam name.
Yo thanks dude!!
This convinced me, been wanting these for a while!
Hell ya dude!! Do it up! Msg me if you have any questions or anything I can try to help!
Great video man! You are braver than me when it comes to working with headlights and taking them apart. But they look awesome and great job on the instructions.
Thanks man! Will check your stuff out!!
Wish u could help me and my husband with our c lights
What Wrx model is this, I have a 2015 Wrx premium edition and just wanted to know if those headlights are the stock ones.
Great video bro as always 👌, dropped that thumbs up n it's awesome how u layed it all out on ur details box 👍
Thanks so much bro!
Do you have to connect to the C light to the turn signal? I don't want the C light to act as a turn signal as well.
wait , you drill the hole because the connector was to big to go thru but you end up cutting anyways ?
Super nice light bro!!
Thanks man!!
Awesome video. What did you used to black out the corner of the headlamps or were they already black out.
Not sure if anyone can help. But I wired up everything the exact same way. Lights work fine but not as DRL. I used the harness and nothing happens. Anyone got suggestions on what the problem can be?
Hey, just installed mine yesterday, was wondering if you knew if the t taps that were included with the kit were water proof because I heard that they have been known to cause problems. Not to sure but wanted to see if you had any opinions on it.
Thanks
Hey man, did the blinkers blink faster while driving after the install? Mine don’t go at normal blinking speed anymore
myfukinarmhurts make sure your light are blinking or working correctly if the blink is fast that means the car is telling you that a blinker has a problem
Probably a fuse
scary job but you made it look easy!
Yo John thanks so much dude! Just need those tail lights now eh
Why didn't you paint the housing black in the headlights? now you have to open them up again. Just did this job last weekend the OEM sealant sucks ass to get everything off
Sport tech man, already have black everywhere except the projector shroud but I actually wanted to keep it chrome.
I blacked out the reflector however (another video)
bro i need your help..i cut the original headlight harness on my honda civic dimension 2004 model.. i want to put relay that direct to the battery to upgrade 90w/100w bulb, but when i tap to the original headlight wire to switch the relay, the LOW beam is on 12volts, the HIGH beam is on 5volts only (off in the switch) when i turn on my hight beam its turn to 0 volts (on in the switch.. how can i get 12volts on high beam to trigger the relay.. thanks in advance bro
Have you had any issues with condensation cutting the dust boot like that? Going to be doing this, this summer. Trying to determine the best way
I haven't, no! But you may want to use something to seal that hole! I might go back this season and actually do that just to be safe. But thankfully no condensation this year / winter and it's been VERY snowy out and I do lots of indoor parking / outdoor driving so if there was I'd see it pretty quick!! If you ever get condensation you might have to have some silica gels packs on hand (I have some in my tool box incase) you can always pop them in to help in an emergency situation!!
Nice video
Thank you!
What size light bar is that and the brand.
Any issues with moisture cutting the dust cover? I've finally gotten all my parts and ready to install but am not sure where to run the wires. (Install also on Limited). TIA
Hi NinjaxBart. Do you know what drill bit/size you used to drill the holes?
do the lights come with the drl harness?
Should the blinker bulb inside the headlight be removed? I did clights and haloes. My blinker blinks at different rates now. Read somewhere recently (don't recall where) that led blinks at a different speed. Debating on whether or not to open headlights again. On one hand, it's a lot of work. On the other... it's stressing me out
You need to buy this thing bro! www.prolightz.com/smarttap-cf18-lm449-flasher-relay.html/
@@SpencerHogg right on, I appreciate it
Did you get HID’s? What bulbs did you get? And what temperature?
does the Diode Dynamics C-Light Kit come with the DRL harness or do I have to buy that separately?
This is so sick. Do you think i can i do this to my kia?
Haha you probably could try to do a retro fit or something dude!
Sick 😍 it looks great 👌🔰
Thanks dude!!
Does anyone know if the Diode Dynamic C lights match the 2018 jdm bezel leds in colour?
So, I believe the Diode Dynamics are slightly more WHITE and the Morimoto's have just a slight more BLUEISH hue to them.
I don't know about the Bezels on the 2018's though, and also different bezels are all slightly different too.
Bro are these all same steps for base model ?
Everything is pretty much the same. He pointed out in the video the slight differences between the base/premium versus the limitied/sti.
Wow i was thinking i could just cram these C lights into my Infiniti M35 which has no DRL or LED's with just a 12V power source. Not so simple.
How did you manage to keep your lights lit up amber at the end like that?
Also thanks for the video helped me a lot
I have the Diode Dynamics smart-tap (relay) underneath which comes with programmable entry/ welcome lighting (hazards or parking lights) 10 sec, 20 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, etc.
I can't get my bumper to fit back on properly, did you have that issue?
It's not always easy to line up and get back on! Sometimes it's helpful to have a second person to help make sure all the clips are lining up and where they should be. It's a challenge! Takes some practise and patience!
Great video, thanks for doing it! Quick question, does the DRL harness get hot at all? If so, should it be placed in a location that can cool it down?
I've never noticed it get hot before! :)
Lit!
Yo thanks dude!!
Question. If I don’t want to use the switchback function, I need to use the ballast? Can I just tap the c light into the OEM harness?
You do still need the ballast I believe, but you would not need to connect to the turn signal (blue wire).
How to change the bulb of a sport tech?
You can't unfortunately
@@SpencerHogg I see, so how can I change the lighting?
Late but what about the wires? Wouldn’t they melt
ah nope they won't melt, no, not at all a risk really haha, they're so small hardly any heat and LED's don't produce heat either
@@SpencerHogg thanks man!
When you bought this C lights is it 140$ for one or for the pair ?
The ones I installed / bought are these ones for $190 CDN: www.prolightz.com/subaru/impreza-wrx-sti/2018-sti/headlights/with-factory-installed-halogen-headlights/c-lights/diode-dynamics-2015-wrx-sti-c-light-switchback-led-boards.html
berry nice
Thank you!
Nice car

Looks mean
Definitely eh! Thanks bro
