I've heard other guides caution placing the headlight units on a hard surface as the lenses can get scratched very easily. Just a note for others wanting to do this, use a cloth of some sort on your table.
Headlights came out great 👍
Thanks man!!
You guys should start including the products you used in case people who are trying to do the same can follow your steps easier. But a very good informational video I'm going to attempt this soon. Is there a plug and play harness for the blinker function? I know there's one for the DRLs.
No need to tape the reflector area behind c-light. C-light has no light emitting back towards the reflector. Also, it's crazy bright as is
Guys I just want to say great job. Madd skills both of you. Our Subie community needs you and others like you. Great job
Wow thanks for the comment. Comments like these keeps us going and trying to grow the Channel thanks so much!!
@@WRXGarage No problem.
I'm about to do this. Is painting really required or would the oven cleaner method work just to black out the housing? Also going to install the C-lights at the same time, already have SL1 high and low beams from Diode Dynamics
Oven cleaner works good
WOW!!!! what an improvement, looks amazing guys. Hey one thing, let us know if you get any condensation after a while. That’ll be something to lookout for.
Great video 👍🏻👍🏻🔥
One thing we forgot to show was that we filled the hole in the back where the c light cable comes out with silicone and butyl rubber to completely seal them.
WRXGarage ok cool, right on!!!!!
Came out good, 👍. First time I've seen someone paint the edge of the c light plastic. I had those cougar LED bulbs, hated the projection of them. Returned them back to Amazon and ended up just biting the bullet and getting the SL1 bulbs from diode Dynamics.
What did you not like about them? They're specifically designed for projector housings.
This is awesome glad I can do this rather than spend 600 on new headlights
Happy to help
Amazing video guys! I was just wondering if I could black out the chrome without having to put in a c-light or having to tamper with any of the stock lights? Thank you!
Hey Jimmy, of course! You can always just blackout the housings, though I'd highly, highly suggest swapping the low and high beam bulbs (and fogs) for LEDs. They have more, cleaner light output, less strain on the battery, and overall just look better. You can always put the stock halogens back in at anytime afterwards
WRXGarage thank you so much I may end up doing that but it seems like a lot of work to get the LEDs wired in. Also what glue did u use to re glue the light back together. I am afraid of getting condensation in there.
can you put a link to the bulbs you got
I want to black out the unit but not the c light, I want the light to reflect off the chrome
Hello about to attempt in a few weeks waiting for supplies. For the yellow wire to the turn signal blue. What gauge wire did you use? And does it matter which color? Thanks, only thing I’m concerned about! Great headlights. I love the C light plastic being painted🤘🏼
I think we used 18ga. No, it doesn't matter what color!
...since you guys seem to be into minimal performance mods, are you going to go with the engine bay fender shrouds? Red, Black, Hyper Yellow fro Grimmspeed or possible more expensive ones from another company? Show points, right?
Thanks for the comment! Obviously performance mods are important to us, but you have to keep on mind that the cost of these parts are always a factor in what we do. We are not sponsored or monetized, so any money spent for parts comes straight out of our own pockets. We'd appreciate it if you keep your comments constructive or positive. 👍
@@WRXGarage ...it was meant with the best intentions...I sub'd to you guys as I drive a '19 WRX base so a lot of things you've done/will do are relevant to me...waiting on the Maxton video...cheers.
@@K03sport no problem. We do appreciate your support!
My apologies, misread your comment!
How did you guys connect that short wire onto the turning signal?
I believe we just spliced it with with our own long 20ga.
2020 WRX STI BASE MY CAR HEAD LIGHTS AND HIGH BEAMS R THE SAME, WOULD U KNOW WHAT TO BUY H11 AND ??? TRYING TO GET BRIGHTER LIGHT OUT OF MY PROJECTOR HEAD LIGHTS. THX
Hi Rob, we use the Katana LED h11 or cougar motor. Both are great options for the price
@@WRXGarage thx u good luck to both of u, in ur new adventure thx learned a lot.. straight forward advise
Hey, just installed mine yesterday, was wondering if you knew if the t taps that were included with the kit were water proof because I heard that they have been known to cause problems. Not to sure but wanted to see if you had any opinions on it.
Thanks
If your nervous just throw some electrical tape over them and they should be fine
Have you had any issues with the t taps they provided? I just finished my c lights last night and I'm hoping the t-taps are secure enough for a long time connection
A couple months of hard driving later, no issues yet! If you're sketched out by t-taps cutting the wire, then butt connecting them with 2 wires in one side works the same way
Good to see you eventually put a towel down. Watching you pull the lenses across that table was making me cringe
😂 those lenses are designed to take rock impacts at 85+ mph. They'll handle a table just fine. We'll be compounding them when we do a full detail next month anyways!
WRXGarage fair enough :) I’m a scratch-a-phobe so makes me anxious haha
@@marcjones5862 totally understand!
