There is nothing wrong with how you make your bagels but I learned a way to shape them that is easy and makes them more uniform. Joshua Weissmans channel has a How To Make New York Style Bagels vid and at just after the 3 minute mark, he shows a technique for forming the dough into a ball quickly and easily which he sets aside to proof. He later simply perforates the center, smooths it, and finishes it like you do. Homemade bagels give great opportunities for creativity and customization and you may be making them exactly how you desire them. Its cool and does not have to change. Love the vibe and content of your videos. Thanks for sharing. Just subbed!

I’m not off grid but I don’t have a septic or a true washing machine so I found that one from watching Simple Living Alaska and I’m so happy with it. We’re doing a septic this year though, finally going to get a real indoor shower and get rid of the outhouse and composting toilet but we live here full time

That’s awesome! We also saw it on their channel. Sounds like you have a good set up ! A septic will be a great addition! FYI, We don’t live at the cabin, it’s currently just our get away spot until we get some land somewhere and build our own off-grid set up. That’s the plan anyways!

@@living.different I did know you didn’t live there and I’m admiring the “what you see is what you get” videos of not trying to pretend you live there or are truly roughing it. Too many channels acting like they have to be 100% roughing it and are afraid to show the real deal. I like the mix of modern amenities with rustic ways you guys are showing. You guys are on fire! It's crazy to see how you've "blown up" so quickly. Great combo with the 2 of you and the cabin setting. Is your cabin, by chance, one that's been in the family for a while? With 10 bunks spread throughout, I'm thinking it is/was a hunting cabin?
I started my channel at about the same time as you and I'm struggling with a whopping 12 subscribers (and I think they are probably just family)! Your editing and footage is great, always changing angles, keeping it interesting, and making somewhat unique foods. I really like the bloopers at the end of your videos. Keep up the great work.
Watch out Simple Living Alaska, Holly & Geoff are on your heels!

Thank you so much, we really appreciate your feedback!
My dad built the cabin 35 years ago ( the year I was born) (holly) … otherwise it’s just Geoff and I who use it 🙂 we go up a few times a week and then of course hunting season we spend 1-2 weeks there 🦌
Geoff is completely behind the editing and seems to be doing a great job ! We try to be cognizant of switching up shots and the bloopers are just to add a little more of our personality.. we tend to make a ton of mistakes haha
We are on our journey to eventually moving and living off grid so we are documenting the transition to that ! Thanks so much for watching .

I've seen ppl put a tea towel over their bowl of dough!! Might be a better idea!! Save up on the plastic on the earth through landfill!! But I'm sure you have a good reason too use Glad Wrap!! Cheers!!

Morning! we like to use Saran Wrap specifically for the bagel dough as it helps to keep the moisture in while rising 😊 tea towels definitely work and we do use them for other doughs, but the Saran for bagels helps to keep the dough from cracking or drying out 🥯 thanks for watching!

I borrow a lid from something else to cover my bread bowls. Also wet & squeeze out tea towel to put over rising dough.

Why don't your dogs have blankets and a warm vest of some sort?
When animals ball up tightly it means they are very cold and are trying to conserve their body heat.
You both are wearing multiple layers... when your body needs a cover, your dog's body needs a cover also.

    • @living.different
      @living.different  2 роки тому

Hi there. Our dogs do have fleece lined water proof jackets , however they do not like wearing them and actually rip them off. The dogs play fight a lot and their vests get torn up quite a bit. The dogs do not sleep outside , they sleep in the house and the temperature is above 20 degrees C. They sleep in a ball even in the summer when it’s 40 degrees C.
On the day we filmed this , it was above 0 degrees C.
We appreciate your concern. Thanks for watching!

@@living.different,, wonderful, I'll have to look for the syrup video. I also watched the one after the tornado. How devastating...but like you mentioned, very fortunate that the cabin survived and some people lost much more. Mother Nature is powerful and the land will heal itself. You are very blessed to have such an amazing property! We have a very small place in the Bruce Peninsula, and thank goodness the storm missed us. I'll be sure to watch more videos, you have real talent with your camera work.

    • @living.different

The ash gets recycled back into the forest and we have a small washing machine at the cabin! You can see it when we take a tour inside the “washroom.” :)
