The Best .45 ACP Handguns Go Head To Head, Let's End The Debate - FNX 45 Tactical vs FN 545 Tactical
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 чер 2024
- The FNX 45 Tactical and the new FN 545 Tactical are the best polymer guns chambered in .45 ACP. I could argue they're better than any 1911 chambered in .45 ACP.
It's time to answer the question I've been avoiding for a long time: Which gun is the best, the FNX 45 Tactical or the FN 545 Tactical?
Let's compare looks, ergonomics, features, how well they shoot, which is better for concealed carry, price, and much more!

The designers for the FNX45TAC had grownazz men in mind as its users.
While wearing grown ass gloves to shoot it.
Yup. "The FNP-45 Tactical was developed to be entered into the Joint Combat Pistol from late 2005 to early 2006 for a new military sidearm to replace the M9 Pistol. The program was started in 2005 and run by USSOCOM which was a merger of two earlier programs, the army's Future Handgun System (FHS) and the Special Operations Forces Combat Pistol." My understanding is that the completion was dropped for whatever reason and FN decided to release a civilian version of it. I owned one for a couple of years and still miss it. Great gun.
The problem is both of those guns are hard no for people with small to medium sized hands. I’m thinking.45 platforms are naturally going to be thicker platforms, that having been said you can get fine alternatives from Smith & Wesson, like the XD in .45 or the original 1911 frame. These are hard fail as they look like two by fours….
That deserves a heyull yeah!
My hands are not big at all and my FNX feels completely fine with a normal shooting grip.
"So it felt big in your hand."😆😅🤣😂 We need more Peter. No Diddy! 😆😅🤣😂
hahahahaha
Literally just cleaned my FNX 45T after picking up my obsidian 45 and shooting it this morning (43 hour approval on the can btw). And bam, brand new FNX video to watch...... What an FN day
FNX is better. Not biased at all.
I mean objectively it is better.
Hammer fired>>>> striker fired. Anyone who says different just can't afford them or hasn't experienced them.
@@kevinmoore6640 Striker fired guns are more consistent (same trigger pull every time), reliable (enclosed vs open system), repairable (strikers are easy asf to replace while the average Joe might not know how to replace a hammer), & easier to clean (can just take the striker out via the baseplate to clean the firing pin channel, no need for punches & hammers)
I agree. This is how I choose a gun by order of importance:
1. How it looks
2. Reliability
3. How it shoots.
I agree. I just switch 1&2. How it shoots is always last. Because what i like can differ from others who review it.
FNX has been the best .45 out since it released. Got one for $900 brand new just before COVID and I’m incredibly pleased with it.
Agreed.
The triggers are plastic junk
@@tesla82111 The FNX has a metal trigger.

I'd pick the FNX simply because I like hammer fired guns.
Had the FNX for a few years and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Extremely well done, great review.
Pick up the FNX-45 TACTICAL last week, so impressed with the low recoil making double tapping so easy, shooting 230gr fmj. Waiting for tax stamp for the Sig Sauer MODX45 SUPPRESSOR
Bro hit us with the C7 vs C8 comparison and that hit my heart ❤
Missing the Walther PPQ 45acp and the HK 45 TAC
Sorry not touching it had both 545 is the best
And the USP 45 Tactical
@@thomascozart1095 it feels like shooting a 9mm
Agreed.
He said he was comparing the best
The FNX and I refuse to elaborate.
Here here! Agreed!
The triggers are plastic junk
@@tesla82111you’ve never shot this gun if that’s your opinion
@@GrayTheDon I’ve held it and that’s enough! Trash
@@tesla82111 it’s a combat trigger it’s not meant for competition shooting it wasn’t the design. Literally one of the best 45s all time lol
When the FN FNX first came out I bought 2, then another, then the FNX tactical. I gave 4 good friends an fnx45. I have shot thousands of rounds out of them all, I carry an fnx45 concealed with 2 Xtra mags. The striker fire is not a choice because they are single action only. But I've shot the 545 and it shoots and functions well, I'd put it on to carry. Thanks for the comparison Colion
Damn where do I find friends like you lol
I got the 545 on release for 1050 and don't regret it. It's damn near the same size as the 509 so it's definitely in concealable territory
I got the arex zero one TC and with everything (red dot mags holster) was about $1500. About the same for the 545. Dunno if I'm rich enough to justify another $1500 pistol lol
Have the 545 and the 510. The 510 with the flush fit is even more CCW 🎉
😂 I'm just here to see those magnificent human specimens who claim to conceal carry some big tactical 45.
More power to you if you really EDC that.
I EDC’d a 510T for a long time before I switched to the 509T. The 545T is the same size as the 510T, and is not “practically the same”. At any rate, the FNX-45 is not a carry gun but is definitely my favorite .45
@@Watchdog_UFOtestpilotif the 545 mag base wasn’t chunky like it was it’d actually be okay to EDC like the 510 flush fit.. I have a 545 MRD I like to rotate
As a truck driver I carry a Hellcat in the south and my 509T in the north but my FNX45 always stays next to me while driving.
I bought the FNP-45T when it first came out. It was great. When the FNX came out, I switched over because the magazines weren't going to be the same and FN said they weren't supporting the older mags anymore. The FNX was also great, EXCEPT it did not like to feed my preferred carry ammo. So when the FN545 came out, I upgraded again, and I gotta say it was worth the wait. Better trigger, more capacity, better recoil. Literally everything is better.
better trigger than fnx or better than previous 509?
@@bradleyheaton9871 I haven't shot a 509 so I have no frame of reference to that, but better than the FNX by a mile, even the FNX single action. It's mostly subjective, your opinion may differ from mine, but the "sproingy" feel of the FNX always grated on my nerves. The thing about the 545 that could use some improvement is the hinged trigger though, it adds a bit of mush that I feel a solid trigger with a Glock-style dingus wouldn't. But on the whole, having a single, repeatable trigger pull in the striker fired is preferable to the DA/SA of the hammer.
Just got my 45 can approved two days ago and picked up my FNX-45 today and now a new video. Awesome
I literally bought my 45t because of his last video…..man knows how to sell merchandise
I love your videos! They have the info we want with ur humor in all the right places, thanks!
"it felt big in your hands......" *contemplating life choices* lol
True fully ambi mag release, safety, decocker, and slide release. 15 rounds of .45 acp. Suppressor height sights. Optic cut. Pic rail. Threaded barrel. FDE.
AND IT CAME LIKE THIS OUT OF THE BOX 12 YEARS AGO!
give me the FNX
I'd still take the USP over all of them. Even if it lacks an optic cut and standard rail. You can figure those addons out if you're dedicated.
Mark 23 too.
@@thomaskingsbury6560Holding a Mark 23 makes me feel like a child holding my father's gun.
Yes.
Hk45 compact tactical? Gotta love the hoof and the lore on that pistol
hammer fire is better than striker in ever way
I've been waiting for this review for what feels like a lifetime. Thanks for delivering man!
Great review! Thanks!
Thanks for this video. You just helped me decide which one of these two I'm going to buy first.
Buying the FN 545 tomorrow. Thanks Mr Noir. This video couldn’t have been timed any better
Great review. Just recently purchased my first FN product. Not either of these but looking forward to giving it a run and the range soon. It is the 502 tactical. Been looking for a .22 for a while now and had narrowed it down to the 502 and P322 Comp. The FN just felt more like a real gun when I compared the two.
Great video and very informative.
Colion,
Now you got me all messed up and wanting the 545 also. I only got the FNX after I watched your video and now you me again going to the gun shop for the 545 lol thank you.
Great analysis! I have FN five seven and is hands down my go to. I will have to take a look at the FN545 after this review.
The Talon grip in black on the fnx t in brown looks amazing, great video thanks 🙏
Impressive graphics and video editing - it was fun to watch....
Awesome vid!
Finally the video I’ve been waiting for forever!!
I was expecting to see the HK45 Tactical if you were talking about the best 45ACP handguns, but I suppose that since HK doesn't offer one that's optic-ready, it's probably not tacticool enough for some folks.
Been waiting for for this video
Can I just say that the production quality on this video is a 12/10. Especially on the firing line. Best video I’ve seen you do. Been a fan since your NRA days.
nice to see such a comparision. Been looking for a replacement for my old 1911.
But, nothings fit my hands so far.
I also like the threaded barrel.
Have both, I can drive nails with both. I like the capacity in my FNX, the trigger is almost as good as my 1911, almost. Both are good under my jacket with a vertical shoulder holster.
@@stephenjubrey6473 thank you, thats something I needed to know.
I use a vert shoulder also..
Absolutely love my 545, for a smaller guy at 5'4 and 150 pounds, it feels pretty great to carry. Concealing it isn't too hard as long as I wear a baggy enough shirt. And when it's hoodie season in Texas, I've got no problem concealing it with the 18 round mag in. It may be a little bit big in my hands, but it's still a comfortable gun for me.
I actually found your channel with the first Fnx 45 tac review when I was 15 now I’m 23 and have one with a silencer
Sticking with HK
Yup
The Fnx 45tac is one of the best looking fins ever!
My friends, Fnx was one of the first handguns I’ve ever shot!only with about 300 rounds in 9mm as an experience! I was really amazed of how it handled recoil as it was both polymer and 45!it almost felt like the couple 9 mm guns I’ve tried before
Thanks. Love your work 🇺🇸
I like the new ergonomics of the stock on the black one, but favor the look of the slide of the tan one.
I made the exact same decision. But, I wasn't as fond of the grip texture; mine now wears a granular Talon Grip.
Much more gooder.
I actually don't care about looks when it comes to what I'm carrying. What I do care about is how they feel in the hand, mechanics, and consistency.
A firearm I can teardown without tools is a requirement for me. As for feel in the hand, this can make or break a firearm for me but a feel of a firearm can grow on me. I used to hate how a 1911 felt in the hand but after I got mine it grew on me and now It's my favorite right next to my M17. Can't pick which I like more.
I would definitely like to try out both of these.
Your videos are awesome! Well made and very informative. Keep up the great work 👍🏼
This is the first video where I have seen the two guns together. I hate to be the one to say it, but I’m going to the 545 looks dated already where the FNX looks more modern. so yes, I do put something into the look of a gun and I love my FNX
Just started the video. Looking forward to your review of RIA 1911.
I’ve been waiting for this video sense the first videos I bought my FN 545 tac FDE ofc right away when it came out and i carried it every single day and i have 509t Reddot and u love it but it does get heavy sometimes but I’d rather protect my self with the best
Love my FNX-45’s… wish they had just made an FNX-10!
Love my FNX-45 tactical, in a vertical shoulder harness it isn't bad at all. Just too hot in TX July and August.
FNX 45 with an Obsidian 45 suppressor is my bed side piece. Definitely like having the option of the safety/decocker
i've been waiting for this video. so glad you didn't forget about this comparison. i bought the 545 tac last november. my local ffl now has a brand new fnx. now im tempted to buy it. my 545 is my HD right now(living in a 10 round state so .45 is a great option) but my sig p220 legion is my range toy .45. now im thinking of adding the fnx but still not sure. my next pistol i kind of wanted a 1911. decisions decisions for sure.
What’s your EDC being in a 10rd state?
Yes they are sir. Oh, and FJB. 😊
I have been window shopping for a good 45 in the future, and after watching that, I gotta go for the 545 Tactical. Thanks for the video!
FN makes the best .45 caliber pistols on the market. First time I shot the FNX 45 it was so smooth with such low recoil and high mag capacity I thought it was a 9mm
Thank u so much for giving the price.. . And the "price". I'll def be picking the fnx in the near future
My FNX45 Tac is hands down my favorite gun of all time… that single action trigger pull is sooooo light and amazing
I once had the FNX .45 stainless steel. Great piece. But now, I rock with the HK USP .45, HK 45, and HK 45c. The best set of .45s out there today.
Fnx tact is my favorite gun. Got 2600 in it with the can, gun, light, dot, extended mag. Worth every dollar.
I own the FNX 45 standard, and love the grip on the gun. It’s almost too big, but with texture it just feels right.
I agree that it’s not meant for concealed carry. However, FNX 9 is just a bit smaller and it works well for CC.
If I get an fn it’s going to the 545 fn tactical like you.
Thanks for the content, it’s important for people new to guns to learn from the more experienced people.
We the people.
Colion validated that i wasn't crazy for buying some of my guns because of looks. Thanks.
Have the FNX 45 Tack and I love it!
Great job on your video for me I’m taking the FN FNX tac .
Great guns but huge! These are away/go to war guns for the 5%. My pony .44 is the xds mod2 and the Glock 36. Love them, carry spare mag or 2. Tucker gun leather makes a great holster for the xds with my laser/light …
Great video as always
The FNX 45 feels like an evolutionary step forward of the 1911. The real 2011 that comes with a pic rail and optic mount that were once seen as a novelty now are now standard
True, one of the reasons i bought my Benelli M4 H20 is because of how it looks. Looks matter.
I do like my hk 45c tac.
FNX is a beast. It's just preference at this point.... for me, and my XXL hands, it's the FNX.
Just picked up the FNX45 I love the low recoil making double tap so easy. Just waiting for my tax stamp for my Sig Sauer MODX45
Been wanting one of those since i played the Tac-45 in Black ops 2 as a kid. but still want to get a M1911 as well too. :D
Now i need to try the FN 545
Ive always loved the FNX 45 tac. Outside my budget but a beautiful gun. The 545 i didnt know existed til just now and it looks like a really sweet gun. I do prefer FDE colored guns so if they make the 545 in FDE or even green that would be sick.
Requesting more commentary from PETER!😂
Love your choices here for best .45. Thought one would be a Glock. All of FN's things are real good/military grade (legit). I have five pretty dang good 9's including Navy p226 (was spec ops Navy but not a Seal), a p365 orig model, CZ, and another. The one ready to go (in house) is the FN. These .45's are as good as it gets IMO. NIce video.
The best 45 ACP is the most underrated gun. Ready??? Beretta PX4 Storm Special Duty. Especially with a Rotating barrel!! It’s over brother. Look it up!! Shoots the best my friend. Beretta…..500 years of perfection!!🙌🏼👍🏼💪🏼👍🏼🇺🇸🇮🇹
It has one downfall like the majority of berettas.
Slide safety 👎👎 No Bueno Pedro.
Beretta did do the 85bb the right way.
I have two berettas they are sweet sexy looking pistols.
Not feeling the slide safety over a frame safety. It's more natural and can't be invertedly switched to safe from racking the slide.
just saying look it up
I’m sorry I disagree. I have over a dozen 92s and another dozen of berettas and the slide safety is for people that don’t understand and shoot the pistol. When you grip the pistol it is very natural to throw your thumb up to disengage the safe if it is on. Additionally, I have never accidentally put the safe on by racking the slide either. Plus in the 92s to fix the problem for the people that just like to complain. Beretta gave you a model, which is the DECocker only.
Believe it or not you’re not in a business for 500 years to make a flaw on a pistol of that magnitude. Learn the pistol. Period. 🙌🏼❤️👍🏼🇮🇹🇺🇸💪🏼
@maddog8148
Beretta fan boy is butt hurt.
No, it's a flaw . Natural feeling safety sweep would be 1911, and I do have extensive experience with both.
It's a flaw. No matter how u grip the slide. IE: SLINGSHOT OR CONVENTIONAL There is a potential of accidentally engaging the slide safety.
100 facts.
Fan boy needs to sit on some ice.
{Nous defions}
@@belayasmert9943 you don’t defy anything. If it was a design flaw then why would the 92 be adopted in the military from 1985 all the way to 2017 with your design flaw??!! Especially from the military. Come on pal you don’t have experience with it. I’m not saying having a frame mounted safety isn’t or more ideal maybe for some people. But if you truly look and feel the design you will see why the safety was put there. I have both models of the 92s with frame and slide and personally I prefer the slide safety/decocker. Additionally, if you still don’t like it get the G model like I said with decocker only.
@maddog8148 Actually, it's we defy. ODA511
Well now this is a interesting video and a interesting comparison. I am definitely not qualified to comment on the 5:45 FN but I do own the fnx45 tactical in fde and couldn't be happier. Myself, I prefer the smoothness of a hammer fire and I like the decocker. Definitely looks makes a huge difference to me and that is why I do not own a Hi-Point or a Glock. We all know that high points and Glocks go bang every time so if that's all you care about then they are for you.
Someone recently asked my top 3 favorite firearms. Without hesitation they're Robinson Arms XCR, FN 509T and FN 510T. But I haven't fired a 545 yet. Maybe it'll be my next.
so which would you suggest for like a armory bag? like drop leg holster with a vest in there a belt and an sbr? which would be better for that fnx or 545?
I would personally go with the 545 for ergonomics. I do love hammer fired triggers though. Might go to the SAR K2 for a hammer fired 45.
I bought a FNX tactical with 8 mags from a guy who was moving to Seattle or work. Only thing I don’t like is how fast I got through .45 with this thing
What plate did you use to mount the DP pro on the Fnx 45 tac???
It felt big in your hand, and you’re just going to ignore your Peter?! Peter holding the camera too? 🤣
Love my FNX man it’s just to smooth
So you’re a car guy AND a gun guy?? FUCK YEAH, DUDE!!!
It looks like a fun day at the range
Have you tried The Remington 1911 R1 enhanced double stack in 45 ACP 15 rounds ?
What red dot do you run on your handguns?
I own a 510 and with a light and optic she’s looking pretty sweet. Later on I’m gonna get the 545.
VNSH holsters are being advertised during your video. Any particular reason why they won't ship to Colorado through Amazon?
FNX 45 is seated in my thigh holster. 100% the best 45 platform in my humble opinion. Smooth operation end to end. Surprisingly low recoil. Lightweight. Nothing about it that I don't like.
I also have 4x8 hands, so the fit is perfect. We all use what works best for us individually.
My FNX45T is still one of my favorites in my safe.
One of each please.
Have you checked out the Walther PPQ 45?
FN 545 Tac for me. Love it! However, I love my Springfield Champion Operator. Carry the latter easier. Less rounds in a single mag. Love'm both.
The FNP-45T had been great, but maybe its time to add the new 545T model to the lineup.
Which one for law enforcement duty carry?
