the difference between shooting stars and satellites. Shooting stars = when you feel embarrassed i'll be pride. Satellites = when you need directions i'll be the guide.
I just realized this today and ive been listening to this song for about 7 years
ping6uod enlightment it is...may the force be with you...
+ping6uod my mind has been blown. thank you man
I'm still confused, but more so by your comment than actual lyrics though.
***** it was mentioned in the song "To tell the DIFFERENCE between shooting stars and satellites" so what is the difference? and after a few lines Ben Gibbard said "If you feel embarrassed I'll be your pride" to me that's a shooting star. "When you need direction, i'll be the guide" i think that line talks about satellites, GPS satellites to be exact. :)
yjsmks :)
"do they collide?"
I ask and you smile.
With my feet on the dash
The world doesn't matter.
When you feel embarrassed then i'll be your pride
When you need directions then i'll be the guide
For all time.
For all time.
This song feels like its almost sacred, you can't NOT cry when you hear it. The most amazing part is that the words don't even matter, it's still the most beautiful and heartfelt sound you've ever heard.
Right now I'm sitting in my room crying. I just found out my love of my life is with my ex bestfriend. I have never felt so alone and torn apart from head to toe. This song makes me remember they way we felt about eachother.
This song is intriguingly beautiful, yet really difficult to listen to these days.
My husband and I walked down the isle to this song. It was perfect. Love the video.
Whoaaaa...I've got goosebumps
For the past week I have grown more in love with Death Cab . . . Beautiful song.
Sigh..I loved this girl so much and now she's gone..due to my stupidity and I can never take it back.
I feel your pain....
It was just banter
Give me a hug bro we're all gonna make it.
+HAL TheBirdLady thanks
@HAL TheBirdLady thanks
The songs may shift like wet silt from raindrops
or sands from the farthest shores
but his face never changes
I love closing my eyes and just being.
"with my feet on the dash the world doesn't matter"
such a beautiful line.
I wish I had someone I can love so much. I'm all alone here and this song fills the deep empty hole inside. I cry so hard to this song. :(
This is the most calming song I know. Imagining the drive with the window down and the stars out, sitting next to the one I love so much.... there's no better place to be.
probably my favorite song that Ben Gibbard has ever made...
thank you for this song. its sooo amazing..
this band I first heard translationcism and I wanted more..woah
Heard in Californication. Great show, great song.
weirdly enough, this is the first dcfc song i ever heard. i went and bought transatlanticism and then plans when it came out shortly after and i fell in love. this has remained my favourite song of theirs since then. :)
This song is akin to a fluffy, feather bed. You can melt into it, and drift off into another world.
Just when I think I've stopped listening to Death Cab, something else turns up and I'm addicted again. :)
This song means so much to me. It remminds me of those very close to me. And those who have passed away.
i just heard this song on a tv show for the first time. it's pretty good. i'm a hip hop, salsa, jazz, reggaeton head though. i respect good music.
This is my "driving to the lake at night" song. Comforting and warm and relaxing and beautiful.
this band, and specifically, the singer, is the most underrated of our time
period
FTW
I must say, that image of the piano hammers towards the beginning was beautiful...
You have nailed it on the head. That has taken an incredible song to another level of emotion and connection.
its beautiful sooo pretty it makes me tear up everytime i listen to it... but i wish it was longer
this song reminds me so much of someone i once cared for. shit went down but this song will always remain beautiful even though it brings back so many memories and thoughts of what could have been. If i could dedicate anything to that person it'd be this. Its probably my favorite song ever...amazing and timeless
This song approvingly instills heartfelt peace and tranquility.
@cyllus1 This is exactly how I feel. The child-like curiosity over the difference between stars and satellites, the simple, nostalgic piano, the way the sensations are described, the promise to guide and make his parents proud.
This song is the musical form of every trip I had as a kid with my parents.
I love this song so much. It reminds me of summer days and nights, riding around with my best friend whom I was secretly in love with. I sat in the passenger seat a lot that summer.
Thats great. I have suffered with anxiety for awhile. and my girlfriend wrote me a note saying if you feel embarraseed i'll be your pride when you need directions ill be the guide. its really hard for me to listen to it but it helps me get through the toughest of days
Beautiful. Made me cry, not only the song but the video as well. You have a bright future in cinematography my friend, it completely captured the emotions of the song and gave my visions a clearer basis. Wonderful.
This song gives me the chills everytime i listen to it... it never gets old
this song makes me think of my great grandmother who passed away last april, a week before my birthday. I miss her so much. My life has changed so much since she died. But all i can do is accept the fact. I really do miss her
i listened to this song when i traveled 600 miles to stay with a girl i'd never met, but we fell in love and this was the soundtrack of my life.
i love this song. its so peaceful. i like to lay in my room and close my eyes, and just....listen. love this song.
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this now and it knocks me down every time.
I went back to my old home town last weekend just because of this video. I wanted to see if I could recapture the feelings I had years ago. I rounded up a couple of my old friends and we drove around for hours. It was nice but not the same, so much water has passed under the bridge that it's impossible to find my way back all the way. But God it was nice to try.
I thank you so very much for this. Peace.
me too. the stereo he has in the car is just like my moms old pontiac. she used to drive me and my gf around with this album on. eerrry
Even though this is a secular song, this song is practically an outline for what a Christian walk should be.
Gotta' love it!
This is the first time I've been able to listen to this song in 6 months. It always has held memories of the first girl I fell madly in love with, we parted ways six months ago and now she is with a new guy, and I'm with a new girl. This song now reminds of a very close friend of mine who I fear I'm falling in love with even though I know it could never work out
...R.E. I love you
Californication, yes :)
Personally, I think this is one of the best songs by them I have tons of their songs on my ipod, and their just great to listen to when you want to sit back and watch the world(:
this song is absolutely gorgeous too deep for words
This song reminds me of my trip to Vienna, When we were driving back to the hotel at night I was always listening to this song
I love it
This reminds me of "Photography" by The Starting Line. Ben Gibbard and Ken Vasoli sound similar when they sing in soft, quiet songs like this.
sigh... i was thirteen when this album came out. where did my youth go...
i'm more into salsa, jazz, and hip hop. but i think its a great song. good video too. i had a 2 hour drive home the other night. i put it on after i smoked and it really reminded me of my best friend that passed away 2 years ago. it was weird. it was like he was riding with me.
This is the type of song that you want playing when you wanna fall asleep in the arms of someone you love.
This song puts me in such a peaceful mood. I love it.
i hadnt heard this song before, i just listened to tiny vessels, i will follow you.., and a lack of color. i regret not listening to more dcfc. this song is amazing.
this song and We Looked Like Giants are their two best lesser known songs, like little secret treasures that only people who have heard all of their songs know about ; )
the ending always brings tears to my eyes
just listened to this song like 5 times in a row..
i was so frustrated at my stupid final. i had to start all over again because photoshop just stopped working..stupid technology!
this calmed me down.
ilove u dcfc
Probably the smartest thing i've heard over the internet in years.
This song renders me breathless.
I feel like this song heals wounds
we humans r so amazing, this song alone is proof of that... how can some1 even make a song this good?
I am amazed at how beautiful this song is :)
this song makes me cry all the time~!!!!!!!!
this song makes me feel so nostalgic.
Just saw Death Cab in Columbus. They didnt play this, but this is whats playing on my playlist at this moment :)
So did I.
I love this song.
I think.... this is exactly what i've been looking for, for a long time. ..
Alot of Death Cab for Cutie material is similiar but some specific ones are Tiny Vessels, Brothers on a Hotel Bed, and Transatlanticism.
i love this is my favorite song they have put out its beautiful.
wow small world. I too have the love of my life in Australia. im going to go visit her soon.
This is a beautifully made video. This song always just gives me that bittersweet feeling..
Ahh i love this song(:
Its like, deep in a way. But so simple.
Cant wait to see them livee(:
lol i love this song. i love this band, its my favorite.
such a perfect song, not for someone who misses their ex
The scenery from the car is beautiful. Really matches the song.
=]
I can't belive how deep this is, just wow x
I have no words to say. Maybe, ok, four words...
I love this song!
" The Strong Scent of Evergreen" The beauty makes me believe i can smell it.
OH MY GOODNESS. I KNEW "Hand Covers Bruise" sounded familiar. I couldn't figure out why or where I had heard a similar song. Such a relief to know I'm not crazy, lol.
great song, great band!
this is def. not thier only good song! listen to the songs "soul meets body", "new year", "i will follow you into the dark", and "what sarah said"....just some of my favs =)
this reminds me of taking drives through the mountains with all the windows down when i was visiting colorado *sigh*
This song always brings a tear to my eye. It reminds me of the only girl I have ever trully loved with all my heart. I still love her, but she has long since went out of my life. It is a wonderful video thank you for posting it and Bravo!
I sing this song in the past tense.
It's a painful reminder of a great love I had and lost. But it's okay because the song is so beautiful.
You gotta love Death Cab for Cutie.
After hearing this, i want to hug my dad tightly.
This is great, you really understood how a clip for this song should look like... Thanks.
Dude, I love it! This song affects me deeply anyway and then coupled with your images it stirs felings in me of drives I used to take when I was a teenager with my friends. We lived in the middle of nowhere and we'd cruise the backwoods roads and listen to tunes and watch the trees slip by. God what I'd do to recapture those moments. If a man could only bottle that feeling and drink a little bit each time he needed it, I think that he could live forever.
What can I say? It is just flat out excellent.
Great job for my ever favourite song!!!!
this is beyond beautiful ...
AWESOME!! By far my favorite song ever. Ever. So epic. Gorgeous. Great vid!
hell yeah i reside in california but i imagine im back in seattle when i hear this
I think i might have peed myself listening to this amazing song, i was not paying attention.
Perfectly fits the song. Amazing work.
@frohoss Trent Reznors and Atticus Ross - (Nine Inch Nails) wrote the Score for "The Social Network"
definitely in the top 10 for me..
I believe it goes Tiny Vessels > Transatlanticism > Passenger Seat.
I love how it's basically a 15 minute long song : )
@patate7787
Trent Reznor (aka Nine Inch Nails) composed the soundtrack for that movie; he likely cited a lot of DCFC's ambient feel for the movie.
wow! simply beautiful!
If I didn't read the description, I would of thought this was the real music video. You did an amazing job with putting it together!
Just accept the compliment, dude. You did a great job.
I don't care what anybody says, this is the most depressing song ever. But it is beautiful.
