LYRICS
What did you expect
Fools often sometimes forget
Who really knows what's the truth
Often dignified
How funny changing the tide
Feels like you already knew
(Praise) like the devil
(Connect) you would never
(Sick Man) running circles
Feels like you already knew
(Praise) like the devil
(Connect) you would never
(Sick Man) running circles
Feels like you already knew
Save you
I would never
Deny you
Even though your hate for me is strong
(See) I'm not what you
(Think) I'm the one who'll
(Be) what you never
Thought would be nothin' and now
(See) I'm not what you
(Think) I'm the one who'll
(Be) what you never
Thought would be nothin' and now
Praise
(Afraid to open up your eyes)
And now you realize
Always you lived in a dream
How would it feel if you could
See past the lies
Oblivious to all of my cries
No hope when I knew you could
Save you
I would never
Deny you
Even though your hate for me is strong
(See) I'm not what you
(Think) I'm the one who'll
(Be) what you never
Thought would be nothin' and now
(See) I'm not what you
(Think) I'm the one who'll
(Be) what you never
Thought would be nothin' and now
(See) I'm not what you
(Think) I'm the one who'll
(Be) what you never
Thought would be nothin' and now
(See) I'm not what you
(Think) I'm the one who'll
(Be) what you never
Thought would be nothin' and now
(See) I'm not what you
(Think) I'm the one who'll
(Be) what you never
Thought would be nothin' and now
(See) I'm not what you
(Think) I'm the one who'll
(Be) what you never
Thought would be nothin' and now
Thought would be nothin' and now
Thought would be nothin' and now

#Sevendust #Praise #Animosity
sadly, sevendust is metal's most underrated band. they deserve so much more praise, respect, and attention.
hope deroche i see what you did there Praise
P.S. There live performances are electrifying like Woodstock '99
He said praise lol
I just found this band, loving them so far!!
hope deroche agreed. They are so underrated! They are the shit
What you did there....I see it
Dude’s voice is unreal.
His dad was Jimmy Witherspoon. A jazz singer.
Indeed!!
Hell yeah 🎸🤟🏼💯🥁 Lajon is the GOAT
If you think that, I’d check Fire From the Gods.
He has a very soulful voice
Soul works really fucking close with Metal and Rock so it works.
Anyone Still Playing This Masterpiece In 2024?.
present!

🔥👏😄
Saw them play live last night. 20/10 killer show.
Great voice. Underrated for sure.
+Abelinda Morte Get 'Dusted.
Great performer as well
He was rated #35 on the top 100 metal vocalists of all time....I'd say he's rated pretty well lol.
rated by whom?
In March 2008, Hit parader magazine, no. 35 of 100 top metal vocalists.
Their drummers screams are so badass.
Mr. Morgan Rose is great. 🤘
ngl, that's where I got the idea from after seeing them live
For real though
and his dinosaur pjs are epic!
Reminds me of Wayne Static
How can someone possibly dislike this banger? Sevendust are criminally underrated
R.I.P. dislike button
Hahah...I was the one who officially changed the 69 likes to a seventy. I'm weird like that.
@@recession81R.I.P. dislike indeed...
@@christinabucheger6410 Do you know any other bands like Sevendust?
Except Korn?
@@jasonh5106 Do you? Send me suggestions please and thank you.😊
Man this was my jam when I was 13 or 14. Fuck how time flies.
+Rare Feline I was 20, just hitting my 3 years in prison....how things have changed!
+James Baird you get youtube in prison?
Victor Ramos are you trying to be funny or just stupid?
+James Baird Neither, I had just read your first comment wrong haha.
+Rare Feline It's still my jam.
This band will always be, in my eyes the greatest band ever. They’ve never gotten the respect they deserve. Lajon Witherspoon is to me one of the greatest vocalists, you’ve never
heard of. Which is sad. I look forward too everything these guys put out. It’s always great! Also, I turned 32 this year. For my birthday, my daughters got me, a signed “All I See is War” album poster. Easily the coolest birthday gift I ever received.
hey man you look so much like adam gontier
Good shit dude 👍💯
Absolutely a great band that has been underrated for a LONG TIME!! I have had the privilege of meeting several members on multiple occasions and every single time they are humble, appreciative, and incredibly down to earth. Example: in Providence, Lajon and Clint walk into a bar I am “pre-gaming” at. I recognize them and flag them over…introduced myself, and stated I (and my friend) we are coming to see you guys tonight. Can I buy you a beer? Lajon: no hesitation…thank you so much for the recognition and support. Ended up buying us a round…signed our tix, then told us which bus was theirs so that we could meet the rest of the guys…..then gave a shoutout to us during the show. So nice…..all of them….every single time.
No ego, just love their fans. Thats a short story vs. meeting Lajon at an Ozzfest in 98 which is much longer and much more awesome. LOVE THESE GUYS!!
@@robd6072 yea your story is awesome especially the shout out part and in interviews you can see how humble these guys are.....what also helps is that music kicks so much ass
100% the most solid and versatile band from the nu metal era…u will never find a bad or weak song from 7D
I’m from the nu metal era. It’s a shame Sevendust never got bigger as a band. They shoulda been up in the ranks with the likes of KoЯn, Disturbed, and Godsmack. I’m glad to see they’re still going too.
Don't really see many brothers in the rock world... AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
he had the audacity to say how pathetic most pop music is..................
true that
they exist ...some sistahs too..will smiths wife (jada) has a death metal band.....I shit you not
Agreed the Cult of personality song rocks, all black metal band (Living Color).
MixedRogueBronaghSinead for real? what's the name of it?
Who's listening in 2020 ???
Yup 💯
ME
Me!!!! 🤘
Present and accounted for! June 1, 2020 here!
South Carolina checking in...
Yesterday My schools Vice Principal told me to listen to Sevendust (I listen to a lot of metal like him). I completely forgot to and when he asked me if I liked them earlier today I lied and said I loved it. During class I put on my headphones and listened to them all day. It is now 10:19 at night and I actually like them more than I thought I would. Thank You for this!
A Lie Always Returns...B Careful How u Catch It!!! Just Staaay True...Waaay Easier!!!
very cool experience, greetings from Brazil
i need me a vice principal like that
Thank your VC bro.
You had an awesome Vice Principal cause the one that we had was a scumbag. Everyone hated him, even the kids who got straight A's. He was a despicable human being that deserved to get his ass kicked
His voice is magic. Wish more black men and women would try their luck in the rock industry. Love the soft dark soothing voice. My favourite song
Same here. I am always looking for metal and rock bands with black singers. Try Orange Sky. A band from Trinidad. Awesome voice with a big raggae touch.
Agree completely
You know where I like it... Racism is when you think one race is inferior. Having a preference isn’t racist.
Have you ever heard of "Straight line stitch?" the lead singer is a black woman who has good vocals...but the band is more screamy metal...give a few of their songs a listen.
and killswitch engage...if you didn't know already. XD
Black People started rock but you know white People interpret it which is good people still make fun of black kids listening to rock
The most underrated band in history..period..
Agreed
fadeintoadream77 so true
fadeintoadream77 Agreed, right next to King's X and AAF. All really underrated bands in their own rights and respects.
Deftones is pretty underrated, but less than seven dust yeah
+erik leaf Being friends with a LOT of people OBSESSED with Deftones I always thought they were overrated. that's just based on my friend group though, and the fact that I was never really in to them
I hung out and had beer with them back stage after concert back in the day. Nicest guys I've ever met. They would play bingo at a retirement center. These guys are so polite and so cool. They were treating me like royalty for coming to see them. Lots pics and autographs and beer
I did the same in Shreveport some years ago. Very cool, very real
Same experience. Down to earth and they offer you a drink to chill with them. Says alot about them
I saw them back in...like 97/98 at on the waterfront in Il...just this tiny ass rinky-dink show that they headlined. I bought a shirt from there and then ended up running into them when me and my dad when to get food after the show.
Dude saw the Sevendust shirt and asked us to hang out with them. As a 14 year old kid that was awesome.
Without their fans, they wouldn't be in demand.
@@kylemitri3070 They seem to be humble guys.
Sevendust is next level live. Saw them years ago and still one of my favorite live performances.
Same!
I saw them in Pittsburgh in 2000 with Creed and what a show they put on. Leon has an amazing vocal range.
Sevendust is a terrific metal band.
Distinct voice, nice to hear a very different metal vocalist
The black vocalists voice reminds me of the voice of the singer from Living Colour. Living Colour has allot of songs that are metal.
+Harrison Crutcher Haha exactly!
The Primal Fuckhead Nu Metal is one of the most diverse genres of metal to me.
It's like Bad Religion on punk rock
bingo
Sevendust is pure power! vocals and band!
crowd surfed and got a high five and a 'whats up dude" from lajon like 15 years ago.
That's fucking dope
Awesome👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥💯
Lajon is a good person man
My favorite Sevendust album.
seasons and home are mine
Eric Draven home all day babay
Seasons was their most complete in my opinion. You got everything in that album
I used to listen to this cd in military school all the white guys thought the singer was white lol
same
Over 20 years later and still chills. 🤘🏻
The lead singer looks so handsome and his voice is just.
Has it been long enough to call this "Classic" Sevendust now?
Timeless 🤘
So glad they’re back!!
LJ has such a beautiful voice in the metal genre
I always liked how they kept their song names simple. Just one word is all you need.
Thomas Weeden *One or two.
i forgotten how much i love this band
Awesome
It makes me mad just how underrated this band is.
This was the first song I ever heard from these guys and I immediately went to the mall to buy their CD when I was in my teens.
Saw the boys in Philly this week. Amazing show!! Can’t believe Animosity is 20 years old. Crazy!!
color has nothing to do with music if you rock you rock !!!!!!!! blackor white doesnt matter.
Amen!
hey Corey wuz up my friend
Hendrix, Berry, Muddy Waters...
+doug evans No one said anything about race, why even bring it up?
this one guy brought it up in a comment i read sorry i like this band though happy holidays Ashley
God bless the "Metal" generation.
This takes me back to middle school. All the best rock videos were on MTVX
Believe it or not,Morgan Rose is one of the best modern drummers.
Just see him playing live and you'll get to know his passion for drumming and his improvisations done by himself in various number of their songs.
Does your definition of "one of the best" mean top 10? Because I can think of about 9 drummers that have much more technical and diverse styles.
@@nercksrule i can disagree. Morgan Rose, in my eyes is the best drummer. u r just trying to be cocky. fuck off
UltimateMcNasty Morgan Rose can hold his own to any drummer in metal! His kick ass, take no prisoners style of playing, and the way he drives Sevendust! Morgan Rose is unstoppable!
@@nercksrule Morgan has his own way of drumming no one drums like Morgan but himself.
Korn and slipknot were my top nu metal artist for almost 2 decades until i discovered this Underated artist of the last couple decades
I met Lajon many years ago. He was the nicest most respectful man I’ve ever met. Also, absolutely GORGEOUS! Love his voice and love him. Great band! ❤️❤️
Heather, could agree more with first comment you made. I work as the production manager at the arena they played last night (8/13/23) and during soundcheck prior/after Lajon as well as the 2 guitarists and bass player took time to meet me, sign something and actually hold a small discussion with me about my history of how I nearly wore their CD's out in late 90's and early 00's. My college years. They were one of my all-time favs at that point. All great gentlemen! Didn't have to do any of that but so appreciated. Most don't do that when groups and such come to my arena. Plenty of bands and artists are way too full of themselves. Yes, most artists are talented but they wouldn't be were they are today if the public didn't put them there.
His voice is delicious. We need more of him, a lot more
They have like 10 albums lol
dranon147 more than that
dranon147 they have 11 right now can't wait for there 12th album to come out
They have 12 albums enjoy listen to their song The Wait so much emotion in the song
You’re delicious bro 🤤
One of hard rocks most consistent bands. Legendary.
such an underrated band. Anyone here in 2019?
Sevendust and Godsmack were the top contenders for gayest corporate band in the nu metal era
Yep I'm here in 2019 too. :)
Incredible how little has improved on this in nearly twenty years.
I remember watching this on mtv !!! Next day I bought the cd on Best Buy !!! Old times
I am. I conceived my son to this song.
Hellyeah brother.
Why is everyone in the comments fighting over the fact that he is African american or black whatever you want to say in the comments. He is amazing! I need to listen to this band more.
Mckenzie jones certainly!! I'd anything it brings a new vocal sound to metal, I fucking love it it's amazing. these guys should keep doing what they're doing they're badass.
Agreed, He's not even from Africa!! He's an american musician so not sure why people call him African! Seether is From South Africa, perhaps they somehow confuse the two?
people are fighting over it because the United States is the most racist society to ever exist.
Wrong, you should go study some history before making an obvious fabricated statement such as that. The USA is very VERY far from "the most racist society" There have been and still are countries committing genocide of an entire ethnicity still to this day!
US police murder of black people is genocidal.
This song is literally a banger no questions
Animosity is one of my top ten favorite albums of all time!
In an ocean of rap/rock, these guys charted their own path. Saw them in Atlanta 2001
Their music live sounds like it does on the album. They are just a tight band and Morgan Rose is a fab drummer. The way they interact with the audience is remarkable and they deserve much respect!
It really does, that’s what I love about them, true muscisians. I’ve been lucky enough to see them twice in Orlando when I was 15 and they sounded amazing and the crowd went wild!! The way they play and how their music sounds and the lyrics are energizing to the crowd.
Three vocalist assault has never been done better.
This guys along to Mudvayne REALLY deserve more.
A college-aged me is in the close-up of the blonde girl at 01:37. I'm the jumping guy in the background on the right!
Drew Suppa Lucky
That's awesome to get to be a part of that.
\m/
That's incredible
Ayyyy bro!!!!
Entirely out of curiosity
Did they get you to sign a waiver of some kind to be in the video
Or (as I assume) is it part and parcel with the ticket purchasing process
One of the most underrated voices in metal and rock
I've heard underrated but not really...these guys definitely shined in their time
Long before I trusted in the UA-cam algorithm to bring me new bands, I trusted in Much Music (Canada's equivalent to MTV) back when they actually played music videos on it. I forgot what I was waiting for, but I remember seeing this come on and I lost my shit. It was so damn good back then and it still is now. I can't even count how many times I listened to Animosity from start to finish everyday in high school, blasting my headphones on a nice and worn discman I took with me everywhere.
Another Great Band !!!
Jorge Rodríguez Sánchez thanks jorge
Sadly I'm their top listener on spotify
*MY FAVORITE BAND... LAJON IS A LEGEND...*
Sevendust live is pure emotion. No stage show just jammin.
I crank up this fucken song. Every time it's on.
goddamn i miss the late 90's early 2000's.
Nice Job 7 dust. Ezekiel 18:14-15. Your definitely a dignitary. Stay blessed in Gods promise to purpose your pain into freewill.
The beginning is definitely my right ears' favorite part! jokes aside I love this one.
Goddamn, I love his voice. I wish I had discovered Sevendust sooner. But I suppose this serves as a great excuse to look through more than a decade's worth of music :)
Teenage Flashback!!!
Celso Alves i know right i was so obsessed as a teenager
As a black metal head Lajon is one of my biggest influences 🤘🏼🎸💯🥁
I am I unable to remember things that happened 2 weeks ago. I can remember the taste, smell, sound and feeling every time I saw this band 20 years ago. I sat covered in a hundred peoples sweat on a bench Outside The Grove after a performance in Lincoln Nebraska One Summer Night. As my friend passed the joint back, someone flopped down on my left and asked if they could hit it. As I looked up and passed it I realized it was Lajon Witherspoon. As my memories disappear, I am very pleased to keep this one. 🤘🤘
Why the hell is everyone complaining on a metal video about rap? Shut the hell up, respect the differences of others and listen to your damn music.
None better drummer for this music. Amazing infinite beat master.
B. Scott Farthingsworth I agree with you, but Raymond Herrera from Fear factory was a beast too
This band is one of the reasons I got into rock
Eye saw SEVENDUST live on stage with STATIC-X.
Machine Killer Tour
April 28th, 2024
Salt Lake City Utah
The Complex
Eye won't forget that concert so awesomes and great.
i remember listening to this band way back during myspace days. thats how i discovered them through myspace. wow good old days when myspace made easier to find bands.
Earthian Moon you are so right!
Earthian Moon you discovered sevendust through myspace...I don't know what to say about that, lol
Michael Pace what? myspace had good music selection. lol i discovered alot of artists through myspace. lol
Earthian Moon surprising, thats all...
Michael Pace thought you were judging. lmao
one of the best metal singers. very distinct.
The 90's Ultimate "lost" Band!
Sick!!!!! 🤘
Freakin' bad-ass.
Sevendust owns. They're still going strong in 2019 too.
In the 90s among several bands including Limp Bizkit, we had Sevendust that blew our ears with mix of heavy riffs, rap, clean and unclean vocals....Sevendust is legendary
Ngl, this is one of the songs got me through being a young metalhead in a catholic school when I was 12. I may not be famous or wealthy or anything but I’ve achieved enough for me, and I have a decent life, tons of friends and loved ones, and I’m far from nothing. When I was a kid head banging to this, I’d never have guessed I’d run into friends wherever I go, across 3 states, but I do. I can be 4 hrs away from home and run into a friend I haven’t seen in years. I have a spouse and we have tons of hobbies and adventures together. It’s never a dull moment. The kids who made me feel like nothing for being on a scholarship are all just townies now, going to the same sports bars, thinking a day trip is too much excitement for them.
Holy shit this is fucking amazing
If Lajon sang R&B he would sound just like singer Terrance Trent D'arby.I love them both🥰
Just bought tickets for their show in Feb with Static X, can’t wait to hear this live
Definitely the most underrated and under appreciated band in the scene. I’ve seen them 7 times and each time they blew me the hell away! So much love for this band.
The black vocalists voice reminds me of the voice of the singer from Living Colour. Living Colour has allot of songs that are metal.
7D are very influenced by Living Colour.
All these metal bands with black lead singers are goated
Doesn’t get any better than Sevendust❤️🔥
I love this song. Sevendust should have made more videos from the Animosity album like the song Trust should've had a video too.
This black dude listen to all music
Same here
Bobby Long me too, and I'm black
I am black and I am from Brazil 🇧🇷
"Black" ppl (originals of earth) CREATED rock and roll 💯💯💯
Me tooo
Still relevant today. In fact nothing touches them - sheer genius
Bring back memories from high school!
First time hearing this song or this Band. Awesome vocals too
Tell em boo 😍😄💯
More often than not, black men have a deeper voice than white or Asian men. That said, this is something that's been missing from rock and metal. As a white dude, this is perfect metal.
I am 52 and have been listening to metal since I was 9 or 10. Sevendust is one of my absolute favorites! I have so much respect for them! Such a powerful band!
1:27 let's goooooo 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘🤘 damn Rose and Witherspoon got that blessing of a voice
they don't make songs like this anymore............... *cries*
They just dont make music like they use to. Me and my fiance were discussing that the other day. if you listen to the music of all the different time frames say starting in the 40s and going to now, after about 2008 the soul of the music just dies. nothing feels the same and you dont get that emotional fulfillment that you use to get when you threw on a CD, slipped on the headphones, closed your eyes and just sank into the music. Which is still possible to this bands albums as well as many more to this day.
Cameron Best now adays it's TERRIBLE teeny boppers and terrible screamos. What happened to the old rock? .........The Good rock...........?
NEXUS HOMER There’s still plenty. You just have to know where to look.
xbreakdownxdrummerx i tried for the past 3 years, man.... it takes alot of effort
That I won’t deny. Music, especially the popular kind at the time, changes.
This song is awesome, for surely underrated!
Just got back from Rock on the Range 2016. Never really listened to sevendust before. One of the best live performances I've seen for sure. Lead singer is awesome.
IVE BEEN WITH SEVENDUST SINCE THEY WERE A LITTLE OUTFIT CALLED"CRAWLSPACE".LOVE THEM ALWAYS!
The first band I saw at Rock on the Range I think like 6-7 years ago...they were on so early in the day and they blew away some of the top bands playing after them. Great band especially live.
Saw them at Ace of Spades in 2016. In an era where autotune makes fuckers sound horrible live, Lajojn and Morgan have incredible voices... and Witherspoon is a very humble dude. Been a fan since I was introduced to them in '97 and this was the first time I was able to see them perform live. These dudes lived up my long awaited expectation and exceeded them. I'll go wipe the shit off my nose now- ain't even ashamed.
I saw them in 2014, and it was amazing! It was also my first concert, when I was 8. I'm 17 now, and they are still amazing!!!
These guys are the Absolute Best ❤️🔥🖤❤️🔥My Favorite Band Ever 😊
Ill just chime in and say this was part of the walk to high school every day...30 now and brings back the memories
I remmeber being a teen when this came out. Loved the song and thought it was cool to see a black person in metal. I used to get so much hate for being black and loving metal.
