bro i just got swooped like 5 times there’s 2 on my front lawn right now i scare them away they went down the road like 100 meters i turn my back and the dog swooped me
Standard defence routine. The parent closest to the nest raises its wings to appear most threatening, while the other fakes a wing injury to lure you away from their eggs. Swooping is mainly only used as a deterrent or last resort.
This audio you've recorded works well to scare plovers away. I turned it up loud on the speakers and the plovers on the lawn outside took off almost instantly :-)
I played a plover sound yesterday since there was a pair of plovers on front lawn and their heads perked up and starting screeching like crazy and walking in circles lol, didn't fly away until a dog walker walked by em
It's a prerequisite that there must be at least a minimum of 5 Plover couples on every military base. these maniacs will stand strong against 50 soldiers in full battle kit
It's screaming is so high pitched its piercing the audio! Plovers are cute, ive managed to befreind two of them at my school, I've gotten I think 15 cm close to a plover, I've always wanted to stroke it's back.
omg i cant believe the female is actually trying to do an "i'm hurt, follow me" like that american bird does and the male is just like NAH MATE NAH MATE GET OUT OF ME HOUSE NAH MATE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
This was such a great video lmao. I didn't know a bird like this existed until today. Evil, angry, and with giant poison darts on its wing. How does anyone survive to adulthood in Australia, literally everything tries to kill you. Just learned how evil magpies are too.
It's amazing how really dumb people are to believe everything about Australia on the internet. Hey buddy? I'd be more worried about the crackheads and random shooters in your own country than a couple of birds.... Poison darts! 😂 Yeah ok........
I see this plover, obviously a little paranoid (they always look paranoid), he had his full attention on me and nothing else. He slowly walks away from me towards the road, still looking at me mind you. I stop, because there a cars coming full speed and he's still's looking at me while trying to subtley walk away. I sort of ushered some of the cars to slow down... he's still looking at me. He get's to the middle of the road turns his head see's all the cars and freaks out. Friken dumbass.
Try. Having. Them. Nest. In. The. Only. Grassy. Area. In. Your. Entire. School. (Thankfully they knew me and my friends meant no harm, but still swooped and scared the shit outta everyone else =D).
@maLeKyte9 Getting stabbed by their spurs would have been great footage & thanks for the complement on my dick, do you have a pair of those new x-ray vision glasses that lets you see thru clothing? Awesome and thanks for watching :)
this might be a really stupid question but the spurs on the wings, do they have poison in them iv been told yes but unsure please if any one know let me know thank you
Actually they hav e not been protected sinc around 2010 That status was lifted after complaints from the public re the damage they were doing to horticultural crops,
Masked lapwings are fully protected under the Nature Conservation Act 2002 and Wildlife Regulations 1999. Any interference with the bird, nest or eggs is not permitted. DON'T GO NEAR THE BIRDS U FOOL!
Sounds like its printing off a receipt
:'D
lol... getting your receipt ready to pin to your forehead after it takes your eye out
So true weird halerious birds
In real life these birds are very loud, they bleat and fly around at night too & have spurs on their wings, they mean business.
Such a goer these weird birds I say worse than a magpie
That is without a doubt the most calm plover pair ive ever seen.
the fact they weren't attacking you has me speachless
Your spelling has left me speechless
@@VinnyUnionhopefully it didn’t take you three whole years to come up with that?
if they don't want to be recorded, they need to stop being so adorable.
How will it even let you get that close?!
When I try that it swoops me when I'm like 20m away!
bro i just got swooped like 5 times there’s 2 on my front lawn right now i scare them away

I chased one of them... Then it chased me..
This audio you've recorded works well to scare plovers away. I turned it up loud on the speakers and the plovers on the lawn outside took off almost instantly :-)
This trick works great with all territorial birds, actually. :)
I've tried it with magpies too. There's magpie calls on UA-cam I play and they all go nuts. 😂

@@JohnGardnerAlhadisI didn’t know Plovers were territorial, I usually see them in groups of 2-3. Once I even saw a group of 4

stand strong?
These things are hilarious during their threat display lol
spreads wings to look big, doesn't register to it that it's still one hundredth our size haha
Such a noisy bird. I love them!
Thank goodness they're on the ground. They're so lightning fast when they're swooping you.
It's screaming is so high pitched its piercing the audio! Plovers are cute, ive managed to befreind two of them at my school, I've gotten I think 15 cm close to a plover, I've always wanted to stroke it's back.
Fantastic vision. I just want to know why the parents weren't attacking you from the air?
Tasman Ross good question, me too
maybe its his bright colored vest, theyre afraid
Probably been around long enough to know that he won't do anything.
Plovers:stop filming us without our consent
Beautiful sound
stop stressing them, you are right next to their eggs and thats why they were getting annoyed
Damn at the end it said come back here I’m not finished yelling at you!
omg i cant believe the female is actually trying to do an "i'm hurt, follow me" like that american bird does and the male is just like NAH MATE NAH MATE GET OUT OF ME HOUSE NAH MATE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I'm assuming this is a piss-take?
Coz we're tough and we know what not to f#%k with.😂😂
It's amazing how really dumb people are to believe everything about Australia on the internet. Hey buddy?

Wow I would of thought they'd start swooping him

When I ask my crush out and they say yes
My alarm clock: 0:20
OMG how on earth did u get so close without them swooping you!!!!
We called these things plubbers because they made some kid blind while playing soccer
Absolute death machines
That's nuts. They swoop and hit you with their barbed wing.
The Karens of the Bird Kingdom
Irritating...plovers attacked me for 2 years walking through a field to school. But I had a laugh sometimes.
They do that wing spread to defend their eggs. They start swooping when their chicks are nearby.
That motherplover is speaking morse bro
Peter Griffin !!
this guy has balls
BRO IT SOUNDS LIKE THERE IS 10 OF THEM BRO

Try. Having. Them. Nest. In. The. Only. Grassy. Area. In. Your. Entire. School.
(Thankfully they knew me and my friends meant no harm, but still swooped and scared the shit outta everyone else =D).
Good on him for defending his territory. Wish more Australians were like him in defending Australian values.
Two of them decided to make a nest on my front lawn.
Can’t mow the damn lawn or exit my house without being swooped
Nissan Skyline GTR R34 they won’t hit you, they always swoop about a meter away from you 😁👍🏻
I've had a lapwing touch my hair while swooping. Always wary...but they are the best parents.
Sounds like a fax mashine..
10x as loud. At night you can hear them hundreds of feet away.
She sounds louder than her mate
i nearly got hit by these but the heads looked like a eagle instead of a yellow head
@maLeKyte9 Getting stabbed by their spurs would have been great footage & thanks for the complement on my dick, do you have a pair of those new x-ray vision glasses that lets you see thru clothing? Awesome and thanks for watching :)
lol they always pick the worst spot to have their nest.
I SAID NO INTERVIEWS 😂😂
I think Plover bird likes screaming at the Viewers
what cool looking bird!
that my friend, was hardcore
Going mental
The only time I get that close is when the bastards swoop me. Has anyone heard of anybody being hit with one?
My ears burn
@Spyriefly haha I've had them swoop me many times but never hit me :)
Very cranky!!!
Did you hand raise those babies...If not...Very gutsy effort ;-)
this might be a really stupid question but the spurs on the wings, do they have poison in them iv been told yes but unsure please if any one know let me know thank you

it would be nice if you come with a piece of bread.
How did you get so close
@NC748107 Actually they originally came over from Indonesia and new guinea
So what happened? Did you make sure the nest was safe? You can't move the eggs and these birds are protected so what happened?????
@chapmanhamilton no hand raising... They are wild birds :)
Would you protect your kids if you had any?
Why are you harassing them? Causing them distress & anxiety. Leave them alone for God's sake.
Please tell me you mowed around them
Hopefully he mowed over them, annoying fucking useless creatures
Someone's not happy Jan!!! :D
How are you supposed to mow that grass Andrew.
They dont swoop if your on a bike
He shouldent of went there plovers are protected and he was harrasing them so he could get fines or even worse
Actually they hav e not been protected sinc around 2010 That status was lifted after complaints from the public re the damage they were doing to horticultural crops,
*shouldn't have
@technobitchsara they're carefull they stay near the eggs just in case more person/s come
