506hp on a CREC Stage 1 Tune?!

- After my IG story post the other day I got a TON of questions about the CREC engine, the IE Software release for it, and E85. I've also seen a lot of you guys running to the e85 pump to hit those high HP numbers with this new software.
Open up a beer, have a seat, and enjoy the first installment of Gears & Beers (Formerly Alcohol & Audi C7 Owners) as we discuss the CREC Engine & the new Integrated Engineering software release.
Use the "E85 Blend" app to calculate how much E85/93 gas you need to mix to get a decently accurate Ethanol Content mix if you don't have an inline flex fuel analyzer of some kind (make sure you get an Ethanol tester to verify the E-Content of the E-85 you are using).
*When talking about the Quicker Racing LPFP I meant to say "Twin Turbo 8 cylinders" but was thinking of 4.0TT's so I said "twin turbo 4 cylinders" lol*

Your content was very helpful!
Great content! There's better discussion here about this tune than on Audizine. Where else are CREC owners hanging out?
Instagram mainly
I'm glad I found your channel, I just traded my VA wrx for a C7.5 and I always watched Smeedia's videos for all my Subie needs. Your content reminds of him. You are now my guy.
Welcome to the community!
@@AudiC7Owners I've been at work for 8 hours, half that time was spent watching your videos. Keep up the good work.

This is dope
My Stock fuel Pump (CREC Motor) is happy up to E30 @7400 RPM (APR Stage 2, 93 tune). I bet this is close to the Stage 1 + E85. Can't wait to see IE Stage 2+E85! About to jump the APR ship and climb aboard IE!
I bet that temptation is hard to resist haha
@trevor shackelford your running E30 on the stage 2 tune ?
I like this idea of getting info out to the people … C7 international + slowwa6 podcast?? 😂
Ayyy that's an idea
Across the pond, we got the CREC engine in S4/S5 in May 2014.
I got 482bhp crank with just a 187mm crank pulley and modded airbox/intake on pump 99 ron (your 93 mon I believe)
I do get the occasional Fuel (low) pressure out of spec and loss of power on gear change. According to my FIS controller, the LFP can drop as low as 3.8 bar, but also shoot up to 7.2 bar. No CEL lights though! So thinking my LPFP is a bit worn at 53k miles? Normally it sits at 5.2bar when warm.
Your lpfp should be working fine, but it is common knowledge that fueling is a huge issue for these motors. I'd take the car to a reputable shop so they can diagnose the issue. Or get some good data logs to post in the forums
Hey Cameron, hope you are well. You said you focused on the Dual Pulley upgrade. What upgrades/brands do you think of installing?
I already ordered Mercracing upgraded 4.0 Heat Exchanger / Upgraded pump too. Just received ECS cold intake, so I have to install all of this.
What I had in my mind next is to upgrade the throttle body - ECS, the Supercharger pulley, and crank pulley both from IE. How do you think it will perform with IE ECU Tune?
FYI my car is a 2015 Audi A7. Thank you.
All of those are solid choices.
I'm about to install a velocity ap 205mm crank pulley for my dual pulley ratio, and leaving the supercharger pulley stock. Installing smaller supercharger pullies can lead to belt slippage & cause premature harmonic balancer failure, so just going with a larger crank pulley not only increases surface area for your belt to grip onto, but it also eliminates the oem harmonic balancer
How’s that Cende exhaust holding up? Resonated, xpipe, and valved rear mufflers the way to go, you think? Exhaust next to get crossed off my wishlist I think.
That will likely be one of the next Alcohol & AC7O topics, but so far mine is holding up great. Others have had a couple issues. If you are catless, I'd suggest resonated mid pipes, mid muffler, and rear valved mufflers. If you want it a little bit louding do the resonated mid pipes, x-pipe, and rear valved mufflers.
Total trash in my opinion. Fitment is horrible, quality of mufflers is horrible. I've watched one systems mid muffler now explode twice in maybe 3 months? Pulled wads of fiber packing out after impacting one of the valves too.
@@AudiC7Owners Still on stock cats at 69k. I don’t plan on messing with them until they go. Might get to single pulley eventually, but not for a while. Wouldn’t want too much louder than stock with baffles closed. For the price, I liked that the system came new all the way through flex pipes, as I’m running a hack flex pipe repair currently that I wouldn’t mind making disappear at the same time.
You may have mentioned in the video but I didn’t hear, is this 506hp claim crank or wheel horsepower?
I said it in the video but it is crank hp
My crec in my 2016 a6 just blew due to a head gasket, luckily warranty is covering a new engine. Well over 20k in repairs and they're not done yet. Worst day has turned into a blessing...
How on earth did you blow the head gasket
I'm not the original owner, guessing someone in the past didn't think ensuring proper oil levels was important. Bought this car for the durability of the engine, they showed me it was indeed the head gasket but couldn't say 100% why it failed.
That sucks man
Who makes the front splitter on your a6? Its pretty clean-looking
No splitter. Just the S-Line front bumper
@@AudiC7Owners Cool. Thanks😊
Very well said. I'm currently running IE beta dual pulley tune on my CREC and so far so good. They did say that if I plan on running E85 they recommend to upgrade my HPFP also warned me of the supercharger magnetic clutch burning up.
I have an upgraded hpfp and it wasn't enough. Im the guy Cam was referring to in the video who maxed out the injectors
@@jamesrubio9816 Damn well thank you for clarifying that now I know. What did you do to your supercharger besides porting to hold up to the amount of power? Thats the only thing I'm worried about
@@Wr3nchen I had my clutch welded. Shane Horning (C7 3.0 Record holder and IE user) did all my blower work.
I love seeing everyone talk about this stuff
@@jamesrubio9816 sounds good I've looking into that my clutch seems to be good now but definitely a weak point that needs to be addressed
S4s also weighs 300lbs less and you can make 390-400whp on stage one E40. I don’t think the A6 would be much faster if at all but it would be interesting to see a race.
A stage 2 single pulley e85 with a ZF TCU tune will Def pull on an e40 dp b8
Once the issues are worked out & they can do a dual pulley e85 CREC things will be crazy.
But then again, b8 S4's can install port injection as well for the same effect.
Either way is exciting to see both platforms advancing like this
@@AudiC7Owners any idea how much the port injection will be
The kits I've seen so far are coming in around the 2k mark
@@AudiC7Owners next month we’ll find out. After I get my ported supercharger and throttle body on the car, James and I will be doing some runs for sure. B8.5 vs. C7.5 mono y mono
Nice!
So do they have a STG2 CREC running E85 yet or just STG1 ?
They have Stage 1 E85, and Stage 2 single pulley E85 right now.
@@AudiC7Owners Ahhhh ok , Thanks for clearing that up.
Dual pulley is being beta'd hardcore and is having fueling issues up top with the amount of boost being pushed with anything over E40-50. Waiting to hear back on what the next step is. But I can tell you below 6k rpm the car is VERY strong/quick. (Friends car, first hand information because I work on it for him)
The horsepower numbers are good for IE but scetchie on the torque numbers
@@karimowhite in what way do you mean?
Exactly what upgrades you need to run e85 with the crec engine?
Just the tune
But id abuse having something to display your ethanol content so you can monitor the quality of it
2014 A7 is it a CREC engine?
Nope. That is pre-facelift & is an early gen 3.0t
Hi I have a 2018 A6 3.0t sport Quattro I have the I.e. tune with the supercharger pulley , the oversized heat exchanger and exhaust but I want a dual pulley tune with ultra charger do U know a company with that tune for sure I’ve contacted most any they say it’s not available for the crec engine
You won't find it for the CREC. Dual pulley tunes don't work well with them.
@@AudiC7Owners what about a tune what supports a ultra charger
I'm not 100% certain but you can email 034/ie/apr to inquire
Is IE ever gonna release a dual pulley for the CREC?
Probably not. The fueling isn't there for it
If you’re talking about @gigante_a6’s CREC, his lpfp drops to around 4300hpa at the top of his pulls. Something that I think needs to be addressed with a LPFP upgrade or at the least maybe a refreshed OE. That’s far lower than my CTUB 3.0T gets even running E50 without an issue.
Maybe Quicker Racing is going to be the answer with their lpfp teaser they posted
4300 hpa is not an issue.
@@peterblais6268 Thanks for the reply! We're looking forward to hearing back from Carter then on the next thing he can do hardware wise to get the car in shape on our end. Car runs great otherwise! I've enjoyed being a part of the beta process with him.
Is it safe to use 44k for an 2012 3.0T without a tune??
44k from bg?
@@AudiC7Owners yes I purchased the 3-pack from Bg and I plan on using it to help fuel consumption.
i just bought a audi c7.5 someone help😭
The 034 motorsport guys claim that E85 won't corrode the stock system and they have never seen or heard of it happening. They do recommend running a tank of 93 gas around every 6 months or so because of the extra additives in pump gas which are beneficial the fuel system. ua-cam.com/video/Ts_bF4UNyLA/v-deo.htmlsi=QFaqKWGLQFY-0tKw
Now I wish I would of gone with IE instead of Apr.
Big oof
HA! First things first..
I thought u were single pulley?
I am
It's not the injectors.. it's the fuel pressure being to weak. You cannot do a double pulley tune and tran flash without upgrading the fuel pump to a HP. Btw, there's no way anyone is getting 506hp out of a c7 with just a stage 1. 200hp gain from just a single pully tune is a myth.
Injectors are actually a big part of the problem. You can indeed go dual pulley on a CREC engine without an upgraded hpfp, but you cannot run E on dual pulley due to restraints with fueling.
And feel free to go argue with IE about their numbers. 506 is with E85. Not 93.

@@115zombiees its more kick for sure
Did u do anything special to run it? Like fuel pump injectors etc, or can I just fill it up and flash it?
@@115zombiees nope, just put 100 octane in and feel the gainz
I hate Audi 😡 they always have issues with after thoughts I’m going back to AMG since Audi is getting rid of manuals anyways!
Cool story bro. If you like slow & boring cars then Mercedes is definitely for you.
@@AudiC7Owners lol bro you drive an automatic end of story.
Just say you like slow cars. It's ok
@@AudiC7Owners Also notice I said AMG not Mercedes, audi always gets it’s twisted cause they shove S engines into there base models an detuned RS engines into there S models.
Imagine not being able to work on your own car and just announcing it like this.
