I just moved to Calgary from Toronto last year November and I love eeeeetttt 🥹🥹🥹 like the air is better, it feels like I am breathing pure air. And the rent is sweet!!! Affordable decent houses not like Toronto that the houses are like cubes of sugar. Honestly there are so many things to love about Calgary. Even the downtown doesn’t feel like a typical downtown. Not as ghetto as downtown Toronto. Wo let me not talk too much

Edmonton AB is dry. I moved from Toronto about 6years ago and still not impress. For Edmonton a whole capital of Alberta is seriously lacking, the roads are so bad. So many pot holes and they do a crappy job filling out the holes. Calgary is where all the fun is at. I drove to Banff recently and just passing through Calgary I knew the fun is at Calgary. West Edm mall is nice and beautiful but I haven’t explored any of its indoor parks. The housing market is now ridiculous thanks to our Ontario and BC bad head people bidding over asking price 😤
Heard Edmonton is dry but didn’t think it’d be that bad 🤣 Calgary is definitely fun! And yeah, BC and Ontario people 😂😂😂
Calgary is a fun city, but it doesn't have much going for it IN the city, it's mostly all about Banff and the mountains, those mountains are not in Calgary but Banff. Calgary has a nicer and bigger downtown than Edmonton, but Edmonton has more people living in downtown. Calgary has the Stampede, and a bigger zoo, and really that's about it. Edmonton has the west Edmonton mall, the River Valley IN the city, better and more diversity than Calgary, more diverse restaurants, better culture and cultural events, lots and lots of festivals, it's more multicultural and more open minded and less conservative. Edmonton has way more concerts acts than anywhere else in the province. People are way friendlier in Edmonton than Calgary. But, Calgary is still a cleaner and nicer looking city, but I prefer Edmonton because it offers way more

And coming from the GTA, Edmonton is far from diverse. I am yet to see a black nurse or doctor in a hospital. And I have being to 3 so far.
@@changminoppa5262 I've been here for 20 years and I have seen more and more black, asian, arabs, Latinos, Philippinos, Indians etc move here. I have seen Nigerian, Ghanaian, Somali and Liberian nurses at Royal Alexander and Grey Nun hospitals.
African restaurants and stores are on 107 Avenue, 118 Avenue, 124 Street and on the Southside and on Fort Road.
Edmonton is way more diverse than Calgary, that's a fact not an opinion. I am not comparing Edmonton to Toronto, which is the biggest city in Canada population wise and the most diverse city in the world. I am comparing Edmonton to Calgary. Edmonton has these ethnic festivals: Africanival, Cariwest, Latin Fest, Heritage festival, Reggae music festival and a few small ones such as the BOM (black owned market).
Family members come to Edmonton from Calgary to buy African products they don't have there. Edmonton has a way bigger carribean population than Calgary.
Just Mill Woods is way more diverse than anywhere in Calgary.
So, maybe the issue is that you are comparing the city to Toronto.
I can tell you all the good ethnic places to check out in Edmonton if you want.

I even find St. Albert to be nicer than Edmonton (cleaner, lots of parks, nice roads, nice layout). Now to diversity…I have visited the Royal Alex on several occasions (emerg, scheduled appointments and 2 deliveries, vaginal and c-section) at different time of the days. And I did not see one black nurse or doctor. I saw lots of black janitors. I was at different units at the hospital and not one single black nurse or doctor. Of course, there are many departments, and I haven’t been to all departments. However, the few I have been to, I felt easily singled out and felt the lack of diversity. Also, I know there are black nurses in the hospital but there are few of them for me to easily notice that it is not as diverse as it should be. Now, I am also a nurse. Schooled in Edmonton and Toronto. In Edmonton, I didn’t see a black clinical instructor and I didn’t see a black nurse during my clinicals. Compared to when I was in Toronto, my instructors were all black, staff well diverse. Then again, Edmonton cannot be compared to Toronto. The only place I’ve seen lots of black nurses and doctors is at a LTC or clinics. I even had a conversation with a high school friend who is also a nurse but moved to Manitoba (we are both from Toronto) and we talked about the lack of diversity. We both had the same issues and concerns. All the African nurses I know from my current online job all live in Calgary. As for the restaurants, there are plenty of East African restaurants, but no West African restaurant. I am looking for a Nigerian restaurant and none found yet for a capital city with diversity. Even the best rated Caribbean restaurant I found on google did even have decent food to the small one near my high school. Please do recommend any good ethnic place to visit. And if you know any Nigeria restaurant or a good Caribbean restaurant, please let me know. In conclusion, it is safe to assume that you think Edmonton is good in terms of diversity and trying. I say it could be better. Are they trying…I can’t say. Now all these are my personal opinions and observations over 6 years of living here.
