Why do people say Fords are unreliable? They are one of most reliable and durable cars on the road and rarely see them broken down. VW and other German cars seem to fail more often
Got a 2007 1.25 with 161k miles so far, getting a new clutch tomorrow since it's just barely started to slip. It's still got the factory clutch and that's had.... more than it's fair share of burnouts and hard driving haha. Only mechanical problem I had was the head gasket went, but 700 quid and 8k miles later and it's still running mint. Most solid car I've seen with my own eyes and real cheap to repair too, see them all the time on the road still.
I really rate this mark fiesta, very good car that’s cheap to run and can get big miles out of it. thanks for sharing and watching 👍
I think the Mk7 fiesta is nicer
Love the approach to giving these cheapies a new lease of life while not blowing the budget! Great, keep them coming!
Thanks Lot76, I will keep them coming just took in some more cheapies to fix and sell before closing for xmas so plenty of content to crack on with for the new year. Thanks for watching
Just found this Chanel. Brilliant viewing, watched a fair few videos! Today, keep them coming. Brilliant knowledge on different cars
thanks paul, will keep the content coming and thanks for watching.
Since I started driving a 2005 model you notice how many 52, 53, 54, 55 years are still in daily use. Good durable cars.
Spot on county, i still see a lot of the older fiestas coming into our workshop for mot. cracking little cars shame ford didn't keep it so simple with its later models and engines
Several cars around this era where particularly robust.
IMHO this was the tipping point when technology was robust and reliable and before too much technology was added to meet spurious EU Emissions rules.
The Astra 1.6 and 1.8 petrols around the same time, Focus petrols, Mondeo petrols.
All cheap and robust.
Simple times.
The interiors of Fords of this era where also almost indestructible .
Thats why theyre called duratec....
@@bigjml totaly true couldn't agree with you more 👍👍👍
I currently drive a 2005 three door fiesta 1.6 litre 5 speed manual with 312,000kms on the clock and it’s a wonderful little car!
I got the car in 2019 and only payed $800aud for it, the car had 214,000kms on it at that time.
It’s starting to cost more to maintain now but I love the car so much! I plan on driving it for as long as I can.
My goal is to get to at least 500,000kms with this car. I’d say so far my car is one of the highest kilometre fiestas in Australia.
Fiestas the same age as mine are starting to become something you don’t see often here so I’d love to keep the car going and maybe start taking it some all ford shows when I have done some body work and tidied it up a tad.
Fiestas are awesome!
My mum had an 06 fiesta 1.4 petrol zetec back in the day she had to give it to my brother at the end because he had no car was like 84 thousand miles on it afew years ago when he got rid of it really good cars very reliable
Great video, as people have mentioned before, when the work gets done it would be great to see the follow up video. Keep up the good work 😀
will be a part 2 on this one andy doing just that, thanks for watching
@@carukchannel That’s great and thanks for taking the time to reply 😀.
Just caught up after Xmas
Absolutely love these bargain basement vids. Brilliant stuff as always Lee
You'll still turn a profit I bet. Everyone wants a cheapie runaround or a tip run car to teach the kids to drive in .
Another cracking vlog thanks Lee. I think that engine was produced in collaboration with Yamaha, my mum had one in the next model fiesta and it was blooming good. Bonnie wee car that, if your total spend is £600 I reckon you'll easily clear £300 profit from it.
Yes I hope so, a little profit be nice but we will fix it up regardless as its worth a 2nd chance of life with someone else. Yes the 1.25 was a yamaha engine collab, very good engine and far more reliable than the current generation of rubbish being put together by ford
Great video and a great honest approach.
thanks peter have a great Christmas
Great video! Really enjoying the channel 🚗🚗
Thanks Turner
A bonus selling point, i know a petrol Fiesta like this can go into my city Birmingham without paying but my 1.4tdci diesel one of the same model would be charged so it might be worth checking this out & point it out to buyers
interesting to know nic to be honest thats one area i am not clued up with is london and Birmingham emmisions rules, when you live away from these big cities we overlook these things and take them for granted
Nice Lee. Loving the content. Have a great Christmas fella
Thanks Phil, you too
Another great video!
Think I’d be looking for something like this when I pass my test, nice, cheap enough to run, only really using for going to and from work
Good luck with your lessons, ideal cheap first car these older fiesta's 👍
Citroen c1, 107 etc are 20 quid tax insurance group 2
This is another 'Metro' for me. My Grandad had one. You could smell the clutch burn and yet it just kept going! Great reliable cars 👍
Thanks for watching
best of luck on the wee thing, clutch, plates, tires and a quick polish of that cloudy headlamp and she'll be a good'un
Yes well spotted, will get the old compound paste on them lights and give them good going over, Thanks for watching Robin 👍👍
Another great video Lee I predict this time next year yr gonna have 100k subs ..Have a great Christmas 🎄
Thanks 2 wheel, no idea where we will be next year, I will just keep throwing the content out and trying new things, have a great Christmas and thanks for watching again
Nice style!!❤
love your vids/ this youtube channel has to potential to reach 100k within a year/ keep it up mate more vids to come hope so soon any mk 5 golfs advice on flipping
thanks supa i will get a mk5 on soon surprised we not had one in yet to be fair, they always sell well, 3 doors better to sell over 5, boot lid switches fail but easy fix, suspension bushes can knock and fail mots alot but again easy to fix, make sure all doors open as they can deadlock and go faulty and they are nightmare to sort. thanks for watching supa
@@carukchannel thanx again all the best 👍 life time supporter for your channel Wright here
Bought one a year ago same year, 1.4 in silver, had full service history, drives lovely, very nippy, interior is near new , been really looked after, had to do a rear bearing that went just before the mot, other than that doesn't owe me a penny, great little cars
cheap motoring wayne not to bad to work on and engines are strong, hope it gives many years good service
@@carukchannel thanks mate, really are a great car, good runners, far better than the plug and play ones of today haha
Great video mate, enjoyed it. Honest little car, and the zetec engines are alot better than the ecobooms! Looking forward to next video
Thanks Tony, we have 2 of them eco booms (customers cars) in the workshop for repair. such a poor engine. Have a great christmas tony
Totaly agree theses go on forever un like the ecotec that die at 30k miles 🤣🤣🤣
Good content mate, keep it up, and your local!
thanks alan will keep the content coming
I had a S reg 1.25 zetec in blue/purple it was a great car bought it when it was 6 months old.I miss it
Yes the mk4 was a cracking car, the 1.25 was the one to get. Trying to get a minter 4k 97 plate on the channel a friend has stored away. its out the box this car and would make a cracking video. Thanks for watching matt and happy Christmas
I got one at same price, fiesta style with 152k miles on clock and since i have this car never let me down, is a great car and i have invest some money to make it looking nice, as new driver this is more than enough for young driver.
I've got the 1.4 diesel on an 06 plate cracking little motor and 256513 miles runs a dream
cracking engine the 1.4tdci thanks for watching leigh
I had a high mileage 1.25 Zetec 1998 as my first car. Really good engine & zero mechanical issues. Unfortunately wrote it off driving on ice
The Mk4 fiesta you owned is also a cracking little car and is sadly diapering from our roads, A friend of mine has a min 1997 1.25 in red with 4k genuine miles on it, its like new and in his show room. Sadly not for sale but I would love to get it on the channel one day. Thanks for watching South West
Always amazing that a small car has been driven 150k, that’s a long distance in a small car. Ideal runner for new driver, school runs for a year. Bargain. Nice one Lee.
Yes cracking little car, and still going strong, see it most days
This is the same style as my first car that I learned to drive in, it had more problems than me, I remember randomly the spedo would just die, had to stop somewhere and restart the car to get it back again.
yes i have had a couple with dash faults, a good smack to the speedo would sort them out temporarily but we used to remove them and send them away to be fixed was around £150 if memory serves me right, thanks for watching asmodeus
Hi Lee, just subscribed to your channel mainly because your style reminds me of Matt from High Peak Autos which please don`t get me wrong is a bloody good thing👌👌I have followed him from the start and I do believe his channel is currently on 243 k subs. I will defiantly be watching all future uploads cos I love your no nonsense approach. All the very best mate.
thanks stevie yes i also wath hp and chops garage to mame a few, i started just 5 weeks ago really as a hobby and to have a play with film editing. the response has been unbelievable i have plenty of content landing in the new year so please check that out, many thanks and happy new year
Lee is a much nicer person than H P A Man, cant bear to watch him. Lee is a natural in front of the camera, Matt isnt!
@@raymondchadwick3577 Sorry don`t understand your reasoning my friend ???? please can you elaborate.
@@stevie007 Matt is so wooden, that I get splinters just watching him
@@raymondchadwick3577 I do agree with that matts getting to big for his boots now 😁doing properties now but seems quite showy off and a competition company 👍👍👍
Will you do the cam belt with the clutch so had. Have a great Christmas.great again Glen.
Hi MM, will take the cover off and see what state its in, if its shoddy we will have to do it. With no history it needs looking at but sometimes you get lucky and its been done recently. To be honest most people with a high mileage older car like this don't really think about keeping any receipts or invoices when work is done, which is a shame. Thanks for watching
My first ever Car was a 58 Plate 1.4 TDCI Ford Fiesta MK6 really good on fuel always started up first turn the key after I waited for the relay to go click and the glow plug light only come on in really cold temperatures
we had a work van 1.4tdci fiesta it was cracking never missed a beat and was great on fuel. thanks forr watching joshie
The clutch can be done in 2 hours, timing belt in less than an hour, really easy engine to work on, well mine was, i had the 1.4 petrol
Yes compared to modern vehicles they are easy to work on, thanks for watching Garry 👍
I bought the red 2006 3 door version 3 years ago for first car for £1700! Put white stripes and white calibre 17 inch alloys on it, and a few diy paint work to the grey plastics and headlights! Still my only car to this day 92000 on it! Fantastic reliable fun and cheap to fix car! Great for a wee project car too! 😁 always love Ford 😁
sounds like your enjoying it dan, if this one is out to go by you should have plenty of miles left out of yours yet. thanks for watching
Hi, ive got something similar, have u had ur timing belt changed?
Even at a grand its cheap motoring. Unlike here in Thailand where there is a 200% import tax lol
Thank you - do you have a web site or garage where you sell these to the public?
(Actually if it’s 14/years old the mileage is not high really!) .. I love this shape Fiesta and I’m looking for similar when my eldest grandson finally passes his test! Very nice first car 👍👍👍👍👍
good car to start with the fiesta, just buy him a 1.25 petrol model, thanks for watching phil
Should be a good car, I’ve got one this shape, 1.6 tdci, all electrics, heated screens, folding mirrors. Worth a grand with an mot all day long
Maybe even touch more depending on year and condition Eliteddemon, we ran a 1.4tdci pannel van 3 door at our garage for number of years , it was cracking thing and was great on diesel. The 1.6tdci similar engine but more go. Thanks for watching and have a great xmas
@@carukchannel I forgot to add mines got 158k on the clock, it’s a spare car sitting on my driveway. Never saw sense in selling it, I know it’s history as I put 50k on it in 3 years and it’s fully serviced!! I’d struggle to find another like it for my money. Good luck with the sale
It is the transmission in the United States that's the problem but you guys know how to manual shift unlike a lot of us Americans (like myself) the manuals like you guys got do last a long time!
thanks mr black why do you think manual gearboxes never catched on in the US
@@carukchannel We can't drive them LOL!
Nice runabout. Easy selling car
Yes hopefully, will get a clutch in it and go from there Nigel, I am not going to retire on any profit that's for sure ,😁 but it will give someone good motoring for few years longer its worth it
got mine a few weeks ago 144k 1.25 57plate only really needs brake lines and a rocker cover gasket and its sweet as a nut
hope it gives you some good service.for a few years bonkerz and thanks for watching
Good content mate, after you get it done I would go firm at £1100 and make it worth it people will pay for a reliable car with new Mot and is clean
Every time mate! 😊
thanks glen tempted stick it up near that sort of money and see where we go once we get it fixed up
Easily 1100 with full ticket it's still a 58 plate 🤔🤔🤔
Ford cracked the rust issues that the early fiesta suffered from with this model and the engine is relatively reliable if service done on time.
Agree with that Gary, I cant recall welding up a mk5 fiesta, now the older models we were welding up every week
Good motors them fiestas I'm on my 2nd mk6 fiesta both had 1.4 zetec petrol engines which are very reliable
Decent car Simon and will give you years of reliable service.
@@carukchannel my first mk6 had 170000 on the clock only reason I sold it was the 2nd gear was knackered and the steering rack was worn would cost more to repair then what car was worth so went out and brought another 1 lol with less mileage
@@simoncutler5542 Yes they do get clunky racks, we fixed one few weeks back for a mk6 the rack was only £70 for recon one, surprised me to be fair. Transformed the car too. 170k Wow thats some good going simon
Yes there’s masses of 52 reg Cooper Ss still around with no rust etc. cars are galvanised now and seem to last forever these days!
to be fair ive never welded a new shape 2001 onwards mini,
This is a great little car for the money, I’m sure someone will get a few more years motoring from it ❤.
hope so skoda katie, thanks for watching
Seen one like this same colour and year on 53k miles wanting 1200 for it bargin
Shouldn’t be a concern, fiestas are very reliable and durable cars. Especially so older ones, with less technical parts
Very true, Cracking cars the mk5 and the previous mk4's, thanks for watching Matt 👍👍
My hyundai getz 1.4 now has 158000 miles still doing its job!
158k wow, to be fair they are a good car the getz, I've had a few to trade with noisy gearboxes but other than that a pretty decent vehicle. We look after one for a customer she has had it 8 years has it serviced every year, shes putting 5-6k a year on it and its over 100k now, as long as we keep the salt away from the underbody it should offer few more years service. Thanks for watching iain
Mate as a new driver how can i get proper cheap insurance quotes with no black box
I paid £300 for a new clutch for my 04 fiesta lx. One of my local garages. You got one for £50!
Oh boy it sounds like I have been well and truly ripped off.
I have had my fiesta for 6* years now and still ticking on. Just below 100,000 miles.
Currently having a new brake pipe fitted and dust cover ball joints. Having failed its recent mot. Plus advisorys on my two front tires. Oh and a braking light.
All that I have thrown in to keep her going, I know one day she's going to die on me, and I am planning on upgrading soon before she does eventually start going.
Would be a shame it's been a great little car to have, generally affordability to run and for parts.
So easy to handle and stays with the road, Swings well round corners. Being a 1.2, though, takes a while to build up speed along motorways or A roads but does get there.
That's not bad mileage for a petrol Fiesta, my 2006 1.4Tdci has just clocked 200,000, that one you've got is Tango Red
thats good going nick we used to run a 1.4tdci fiesta van it was brilliant. thanks for watching
Best thing sort it park it up and ask proper money because let's be honest whether its 995 or 1495 if it comes back to repair it under soga it wont be less because customer paid less, like your attitude the way 👍
Agree, we dont get to many issues with punters coming back if we do, we can normally sort them out and most are very understanding and work with us to resolve. you get the odd one who can be troublesome and thinks we knew all a long that the battery may die in the remote fob 6 weeks later but i bite my lip😁 . If they are really giving us problems over a genuine issue and not working with us its just simple refund, sort and sell to someone else. been doing this to many years to get bogged down with customers who will never be happy with a car no matter how much you do for them. Like I said most are sound, thanks for watching Mandy and have a great Christmas
yesterday an ex customer 5th July purchased rang me to complain. the clutch had gone on her 107,apparently i knew this because the pedal was high when I sold it she said, silly thing is it was the wives 107 and only had it in the garage to give it its annual service having been in the family nearly 2 years ...if I don't like customers I won't sell to them knowingly and i too will refund and sell again rather than deal with someone unreasonable, have a great yuletide too
@@mandymoo7406 Best way, sometimes you need to pick them customers.
Any chance of you getting a colt cz1. I've got one 95,000 miles in black. Just wondered how much these little cars are selling for. Thank you. Great channel really enjoy it .
i do come across them from time to time, they used to offer excellent value for money. we had a diesel one in last year that was interesting. will keep an eye out for one xolin, thanks for watching
Got to be honest, Lee. I'm curious to see how badly thrashed that Honda Jazz (re-named "Fit" in America) happens to be that it's beyond saving. Recently discontinued here, I tend to recommend that model to folks who want a reliable, small, used car. But can't afford a used Civic or Corolla with anything close to decent mileage on one.
it was a part exchange i took in, someone has stolen the catalic converter from it and cut all the lambda sensors also, its had more hits than the beetles (damaged) and needs a steering rack and a gearbox all noisy. only good bit is them tyres 🤣
@@carukchannel
Oh no. That poor car. Not even a Honda is going to run properly after all that. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity, Lee. A very Merry Christmas to you. 🎄
I own a 05 plate 1.25 and it’s been flawless it’s only on 70k miles
another 100k to go, thanks for watching shane
150k isn't many mines on 240k and runs like a dream... them duratec engines are bulletproof
Good to see, I often thought petrol engines would struggle to reach 80k
It looks really modern particularly as it’s in the orange as that’s quite trendy at the moment. Can’t wait to see it done. Wasn’t the 1.25 engine a Yamaha based one? All the best for 2023. Can you put a link to car sales?
Thanks Barry, yes it was co designed with Yamaha, they also designed a 1.7engine that went into the Old form puma but that was not as successful as the little 1.25, Ford made a terrible mistake changing that engine for the 1.0 ecoboost engines they use today.
@@carukchannel 1.25 engines are quite heavy on fuel though, that’s their downside. I agree though, they are very reliable and tough engines
@@matthewsmith2787 Yes your right to be fair ford claimed they would do 54mpg but more like low 40s a better average which is not great i guess for a little car, maybe you could get 50mpg on a motorway at 50mph but reality they being used as a town car
@@carukchannelI’ll never touch a Ford with a barge pole thanks to those 1l ecoboosts, one of the absolute worst engines ever made
@@reececollison5101
Funny old world, we just sold our 2013 1.0 ecoboost (125bhp)109'000 miles, in its life(other than a service every year and brakes and tyres) it had 1 set of spark plugs, and a passenger side lower wish arm.
The only reason we part chopped it was the elephant in the room, the wet timing belt is due a change at 10 years or 150'000 miles, and ford want £1200 for the belts (a smaller one drives the oil pump) and on a car worth £2800 the maths just didn't work .
These are great little runners , sell them at 1595 all day
should sell quick, once we get that clutch sorted
Dont mind thse but I dont like the toilet plunger gear gaitor 😅
My daily is an 06 1.4. I know own it for 2 years and it proved pretty reliable but I still had to put in quite a bit of money. Put on 20k km and it's now at 160k.
I love the car but it's painfully slow which makes me wish for something quicker.
i always thought the 1.4 was nippy, 95bhp in a small car. anyhow glad its served you well. thanks for watching and happy new year
@@carukchannel It's 80 hp and 124 nm. Takes almost 14s to 100 kph. It's actually not all that great. Especially in Germany for the Autobahn, where you actually wanna go speeds.
Lee, please scrub that steering wheel, it is caked in layers of crud.
I will give it a going over charlie, 👍
Just gone past morrisons in Winsford lol
😁 Yes we were based around the corner until a few months ago from morrisons
@@carukchannel ahh I think I know where you mean 😂
I'd have thought with 12 months MOT with 160,000 it's £900 so doesn't want more than £200 spending on it so £250 profit at most unless you can get away with spending less than £200 on it.
maybe will see when i get it in the workshop but will do my best to keel the costs down but still turn out a decent car for someone, profit will not be much as you rightly say but every little helpa and it should givw someone a decent couple years all being well
Taking of cheap cars I just bought a Peugeot 207 sport 1.6 2007 non turbo with 55,000 miles for £300 only needed a service, cat and after cat lamber sensor. So far it owes me £550 cheap car they are out there if you can find them

You’d be able to get 1150 for that depending on milage you’d get 750 easy

I have a 2014 fiesta zetec 1.25 petrol. Is it the same engine as this older version? Hope mine lasts this long 😀
You picked the right engine, the 1.0 eco boost engine drives well and pulls better but is not remotely reliable, the 1.25 you have will give you years of good service with some minor tlc servicing.
Oh that’s good. Love my car. Super slow but it’s great. Yeah I’ve heard terrible things with those eco boosts
6:48 what happened to looking under the bonet?
I think it was just a standard motor. (Mind you if it had been a twin turbo Cossy I would have wanted to see it too ha ha! 😊😊😊😊) - merry Christmas buddy 🙏🎅🏼
maybe some bad editing on my part, 🤣 was sure i did talk about the engine
Is the video filmed in Winsford?
Yes, Sunny Winsford 😁
Our fiestas didn’t look as good in the States, I think she looks great and of course ours would have a auto which would be shot at that mileage, don’t want your car stolen here get a manual, the thugs can’t drive a straight drive, not sure why. I can’t imagine shifting with left arm, our Pastor went to Scotland and said you get use to it quickly.
thanks for watching poppy, i guess they have bigger engines in the us fiestas also

You spend the same amount of time / prep on the car as you would the older buckets but yet at least there is a decent reward at the end
