    I have one of these ( 2010) with 154k miles and it drives superbly . The engine still pulls strongly, no smoke, still does 48mpg. Gearbox is silky smooth , awesome little cars.

    Thanks for the video mate, you have confirmed that after 3 mechanics being unable to solve an engine overheating problem on hot days, (whilst stationary), the radiator fan has gone! I didn't think it possible as the air conditioning still kind of worked, but videos such as these are a lifeline. I have a 2012 model and its a great car. It failed on emissions at MOT last week and I thought it was a goner, but all it turned out to be was a spark plug that had disintegrated causing a rich emission. The car has done 108k and i fully intend on looking after it more with oil /filter changes and as you pointed out, 'listening to it' as you drive. I just could not believe how much Fiesta's had gone up since I bought it 9 years ago, we were facing potentially 12k for a 3 year old basic car with 35k on the clock-totally horrendous dilemma for us ordinary bods!!! Many thanks again.

    Great video! I have 2010 Fiesta 1.25 on 124,000 miles! You are lucky to have the “steel” wheels! The 15” Ford alloys are weak and easily buckle on inside rim when going over pot holes! I’ve had to replace front lower ball joints and broken coil springs in addition to track rod ends BUT pleased that parts are cheap and readily available!!! As a DIY’er it’s an easy car to work on! Also did camshaft drive belt, but it needs patience and is quite fiddly! Hardest bit was unscrewing the very tight crankshaft bolt, but used very long breaker bar and a flywheel locking tool! These proper 4 cylinder engines are way better than the newer 3 cylinder 1.0 litre engines!

    Hi, yeah my flexi pipe split on my 2016 (Eco boost) Fiesta. My garage charged around £300. for the 'cut and replace' job. Ford wanted £1,400 for the job, but as my local mechanic stated, Ford garage mechanics MUST replace the cat and put everything back to ford spec, so cannot do what my local mechanic did even though it works perfectly well. Thanks for a very good report on these cars. I do love the handling on mine. Take care.

    These are famous for water ingress. Comes through rear light cluster seals, 3rd brake light seal, the rubber seal between the body and rear wiper arm, and the air vent seals behind the rear bumper. If the carpets are wet, it has already flooded the car and soaked through the thick sound deadening before then soaking the carpet. You need to strip out all the seats, carpet and sound deadening to let it dry out whilst you sort all the seals. Then there is the issue of the 1.0 Eco boost engine. Do not buy one unless it has a full service history only from a Ford dealer. The oil is very specific to that engine and is expensive, so non-Ford dealer dont tend to use it. As a result, the wet belt start to disintegrate, clogs up the oil strainer and the engine goes boom. Best to only buy the 1.25 engine. One other thing although not as common is when all the wipers and washers dont work. You replace the 3 fuses and still dont work. If you move the stalk and listen closely, you do hear the relays clicking. The issue is the body control module, £1,000 supplied, fitted and programmed from Ford. Dont get me wrong, they are brilliant cars, just dont blow all your budget on one. Keep at least £500 back for maintenance items.

    Exact same thing happened to my 2014 Fiesta 1.25 Overheated cos the fan wasn’t turning on. Strange thing is the car didn’t have any warning sounds when the engine overheating symbol was on. But the warning sounds come on when petrol is low or if seatbelt isn’t it. You’d have thought they’d have it for an overheating car/ warning light. Luckily didn’t blow the engine. Everything you’ve mentioned in the video has happened on my Fiesta! Squeaky front suspension (only in the winter ) and knocking in the back

    Loads of history in it's early days but god the last 4 years it's been negleted......
    Needs a good service, a new indicator stalk and a deep clean.
    Cambelt water pump and clutch done just over 4 years ago at 108k
    Rear bushes will need doing for next years MOT
    I'll be poly bushing it and hopefully i'll get it to 250k then scrap it for 200 quid!

    I’ve got a fiesta 1.0 (125) titanium ecoboost that was bought new in 2015,it’s a great car ,comfortable ,economical , reliable and fantastic to drive. There’s also plenty of room inside, at 6 foot 2 I have lots of room and easily get a comfortable driving position. I desperately want to keep this little car for ever but it will need the wet belts done in the year or so, I’ve been looking for a specialist company in Glasgow/Scotland but so far no one wants to do the job . I know it’s an eight hour job and expensive but i thought with a lot of fiestas needing the belts done due to the age of the vehicle, that it would be easy to get them done but no such luck. I will continue to seek out a specialist and hopefully get it sorted

    • @life_on_cars
      @life_on_cars  Рік тому +1

    What do you think about a 2010 Ford fiesta zetec, 1.2 manual, 62k miles. I currently have a 2009 fiat 500, this is my first car (driving since March 2023 so had this since then) 1.2 manual also (87k miles) but I’ve already had to have a lot of work completed on this (gearbox, clutch, handbreak, suspension) and worried if it needs more I’m pouring money into it. So was thinking about trading it in against the Ford fiesta zetec as I believe they are more reliable

    • @life_on_cars

    500 pounds your miles off if its wet belts you are talking about.
    Ford is charging 1200 to 1600 pounds and other recommended garages who have the appropriate tools are charging around 1200 to charge the 2 off wet belts.
    All fiestas from 2014 onwards are wet belt type drives not dry belt for camshaft
