Although worked for years in the industry with access to some expensive body creams many of us used Grapeseed with fantastic results. I mixed it with a boby lotion for better absorption as otherwise it tends not to absorb quickly. I'm now going to buy some and Cerave body moisturiser to combine with as that also has great ingredients. Thank you for your great videos & hi from Australia.

    I have returned to using pure grapeseed oil instead of moisturisers and mixed oils (really high quality products), and I have to say that the grapeseed oil alone leaves my skin looking better than all those expensive products. I am thinking of adding back in a vitamin c as I have hyperpigmentation. I am 46 and also have some acne, and rosacea, but nothing has made a huge difference to those issues, and actually the grapeseed oil seems to lessen my blocked pores.
    I do think that celebs who claim that a simple product is why they look so amazing is ALWAYS disingenuous, as they ALL get surgery and expensive treatments!

      I use my own oil blends, but just like you oils do me better than creams and moisturizers! I thought I was weird for it lol. But my skin HATES being coated with a thick layer or anything, it has to breathe or I'll break out with the quickness. So it's either my moisturizer giving me breakouts because it's filled with occlusives like fatty alcohols, dimethicone and petroleum, or the moisturizer is far too thin with very little to no emollient plant oils to actually moisturize my skin. Which is why snail mucin, sea kelp bioferment, aloe Vera gel and my face oil is enough to keep my skin hydrated, moisturized and happy. My favorite oils are jojoba, argan, emu and seabuckthorn berry oil + a few essential oils.

    I had once a face cream from Italy which contained grape seed oil. And it was darn good for my skin/wrinkles. I was "only" 40 back then. That cream disappeared and I forgot about it. It came into my mind recently and couldn't find it, or anything similar. Got my hands finally on a bottle of grape seed oil and I use it by mixing it into my normal face cream which is a bit too "dry" for me now. I also apply it on any body part which suffers from dry skin. Although my skin does usually not like oils, it accepts that one. And the wrinkles? Well with over 60 you can't expect that they disappear and you will look like Cher, but my face looks much more relaxed and softer with it (even the neck). An inexpensive solution, but of course beauty professionals won't talk about it as it's inexpensive and available in any good supermarket or health shop. You just have to watch out that it is 100% grape seed oil. I would not recommend it as an allrounder for any girl or woman (acne etc.). But in any case if your skin doesn't like it you can use it up by cooking with it. LOL

    Oils destroyed my skin this year. Please be cautious in using facial oils when you have acne prone skin. I used tamanu oil and for a few months it worked well then I started developing cystic acne and large painful styes/chalazions on both my eyes- the facial oils pretty much clogged my skin and eye glands. It was a difficult struggle to overcome and skin ditching oils, the skin slowly healed. Organic aloe Vera gel helped too. The only oil I now use is a cleansing oil to remove my heavy sunscreen followed by a water based cleanser.

      Hey Kristin and Elizabeth, to answer both your questions - the only type of oil I ever used consistently on my face since my teenage years (about 12 years ago) is a cleansing oil that washes off but recently with the start of the pandemic, lockdown and having way too much time on my hands, I researched natural remedies to heal my shallow acne scars and started using Tamanu oil twice a day as a moisturizer. I didn’t use it around my eyes but keep in mind that whatever you put on your face travels to your eyes eventually, especially when you’re sleeping as it transfers onto the pillowcase. The oil worked fine for a few months and then I started getting a few cysts here and there, followed by large painful stye/chalazions on both my eyes which took a long time to go away and I was devastated for many many months as I work out in the public, it was very hard but quitting the oils and going back to oil free skincare healed me; along with daily warm eye compresses - I have a plug in one from Amazon.

I'm in my 40s with dry skin, especially in winter, and locking in the moisture with oil at the end of my morning skincare routine has made a HUGE difference both in how my skin looks and how it feels! I've learned a ton from you two and can't wait to learn more.
    I shared this channel with my teens as well, so they can learn NOW, rather than waiting until middle-age like me.
    I would love it if you could talk about caring for your hands. As a scientist and gardener, my hands get treated pretty badly and they show my age more than my face. I'd love some tips to help with dryness, wrinkles, and discoloration.

    I always get breakouts. When one starts to go away another bad one pops up somewhere else. I even get them on weird parts of my body. Like legs, arms, chest, back, stomach. I can never have a clear face unless there's one exception... It's weird but whenever I'm really sick my face starts to clear up really well. Like recently I had a horrible stomach flu and my face never looked so clear in a long time. Why is this? Is it maybe because I never have the appetite to eat anything? Perhaps it's the food I'm eating, which is weird because I have a very balanced diet and never eat junk food and drink like 2 gallons of water per day.

    I started using grapeseed oil as an oil cleanser and just wiping it off with a wet paper towel and putting in the last step of my routine and it has completely dried up my acne and helped with the hyper pigmentation and acne scars. My skin is also looking brighter and more even. Ive tried everything under the sun and this is actually helping. I think ive been using too many drying ingredients like a sal acid cleanser daily and retinols, vitamin c and i think drying out my skin made my acne even worse. Weird thing is the grapeseed oil has an astringent-like property to it where it dries out my cystic acne. Its better than all my cleansers ive ever used! Im almost acne free in only a few days of use. Kinda is my miracle product atleast and completely healed almost all my acne!

    • @MiaKoo
      @MiaKoo 3 місяці тому +1

      @@Dan24. ok Dan why did you do the no moisture therapy? Im also an esthetician so ill try to help as best as possible but hard to see without pics but I can go off descriptions. Did you have topical steroid withdrawal? I'm actually on adapalene .1% . You need to start healing your moisture barrier. Your skin is so oily because you gavent been moisturizing for a long period of time which is awful for your skin. No derms recommend this. Acnaeic skin is often dry anyway cause we have to use Sal acid, benzoyl peroxide, retinoids to control it. Grapeseed oil is great for drying up acne in a pinch but will not get rid of all the deep acne underneath, you need a retinoid like adapalene for acnaiec skin. Do not start retinoid until after you focus for a month or so depending how damaged and dry your skin barrier is. You need to start using adapalene .1% 1x per week start slow, ahas and salycilic acid low percent maybe 1x per week benzoyl peroxide 4% 1x per week. Point is to touch your skin and see how supple is it? Is it burning? Dry? Does it bounce back? Is it a hydration day? Do I need to focus on hydrating products versus actives(retinoids and acids and even benzoyl peroxide cause irritation) so always use products separately and space them out during the first few weeks. 1x per week, then 2x per week the next minty. Start low and slow.
      Ok but you need to basically just strip your routine to hydrating cleanser, hydrating toner and Cera ve cream or ceramide cream. Topped with castor oil and neem oil. You need occlusive layers right now like castor oil and even petrolatum on a few nights per week until your skin starts to become less itchy, red irritated. You can feel and see if your barrier is okay if it's red and itchy then time for hydration.

      @Dan24. 3 місяці тому +1

      @@MiaKoo Thank you so much for your detailed answer I really appreciate it! 👍
      I never did any skincare and wish I never started it as that’s what caused all of this in the first place. 2 months ago I randomly decided to use a moisturizer and it caused contact dermatitis with lots of redness and irritation. I’ve used steroids to treat it but I didn’t heal it completely so that’s why I decided to do no moisture therapy as I’ve read online that it helps to heal the skin. It actually worked to lessen the redness but caused an even bigger and permanent issue. It turned my once dry pale skin to greasy and darker. It’s extremely frustrating and depressing having to deal with this 😢 I wish I never used that damn moisturizer that started the contact dermatitis I wouldn’t have to deal with all this 😔
      I don’t have to deal with any acne. My issue is really just the greasiness caused from no moisture therapy. I was naive and though that once I shower and wash daily it will become dry again but it doesn’t 😢
      I will visit a dermatologist soon but I’m afraid he will just tell me that greasy skin is normal etc. If there are any products in particular which would help to improve this situation I would really appreciate any recommendations. You mentioned that I should use cleaner. Is there any that is suited for my condition ? Currently I’m just using sunscreen throughout the day and wash it off at night with water that’s it.

    • @MiaKoo
      @MiaKoo 3 місяці тому +1

      @@Dan24. ok 1. so steroids thin the skin and you should never use them on your skin. Doctors prescribe them way too carelessly.
      2. You most likely got contact dermatitis from your moisturizer because it had fragrance in it. This is the leading cause of eczema and allergies of the skin. Switch to Cera ve cream. Dermatologist recommended abd it's going to fix your moisture barrier because it has ceramides in it. Use the Cetaphil or Cera ve hydrating cleanser. No foaming cleansers for now as they have more stripping properties.
      3. Your skin is so oily because you do not moisturize which is also ruining your skin barrier, aging you, and causing hyper pigmentation, darkness, irritation, and transepidermal water loss. You need to include some skin brightening ingredients like ahas, glycolic acid toner by the ordinary once a week.
      4. Focus on hydration, ahas once a week and using occlusives like castor oil. Humectants first on the skin like glycerine and water or hyaluronic acid. Cera ve cream, then oil last on your skin. You NEED a face oil at this point so that your face will STOP producing so much oil cause you're starving your skin barrier of moisture. Your skin is basically trying to say hey I'm dry, legs produce more oil so that less transepidermal water loss occurs. Derms say oil production is hormone driven, but it's very common for people to develop oily skin if they do not use moisturizer like yourself. A skins way of saying PLEASE HELP ME RETAIN WATER!!
      Hope this helps. 🙏

    • @MiaKoo
      @MiaKoo 3 місяці тому +1

      Oh yeah, and lastly- try slugging or adding vasaline atleast 3 to 4x per week over your last step face oil. If you see any break outs from Vaseline move it to less times per week. You only need 2 pea sized amounts for face and decoloté. Basically your skin is dry AF and needs a good hydrating fragrance free skincare routine. You're probably allergic to fragrance and the steroids caused darkness, dryness too. Never use steroids for allergies when you can just remove the allergen and use a proper skincare routine to maintain a healthy skin barrier. Steroids cause more problems then they solve in most cases IMO. Unless it's super severe... but even still. They thin the skin so fast and cause these paper cut like lesions. It's awful they just give you that when you're probably just allergic to fragrance and needed to remove that one fragrance from your routine.
