Google took down one of my videos due to an audio copy write violation. I wrote the song and recorded all the music myself :/ I filed a claim and it got rejected. I re-uploaded it the next day and never heard anything since. F'ing idiots...
+FastRedPonyCar I heard of that before, the dude was told his music sounded too similar to something else. So if you HUM a song on your own channel some robot algorythm might think you're singing the Star Spangled Banner, even if it was a video of you sitting on the toilet humming while taking a dump. Yeah, we are screwed.
+FastRedPonyCar One of the 2 strikes I have is from a video I took at a show, where some music was playing in the background, and I have written permission from the author to include the audio in my video. Doesn't matter to youtube!
arcadeuk Yeah same thing with Josh Woodward music. He had so many people have issues we have to go to his website and enter our UA-cam Channel Name so he can tell UA-cam not to strike the videos of the channels that have his permission to use his music. Pretty sad stuff, it's all algorythm controlled.
+TekReview's If robots could be judges and juries, then we'd have robotic judges and juries. Google doesn't seem to know this or care, but it could also be that the DMCA is a shitty law that causes internet companies to go to these lengths. It's a good thing CISA and TPP are out now to accompany other great laws like the DMCA and 1986 CFAA. America is going in a direction. It seems like the direction is backwards and down.
manictiger Yup all the crap they try to shove down our throats from one party. They don't care as long as they get richer and richer. We need term limits on big paying jobs for people who don't have enough common sense to put a bolt and a screw together.
I had a video uploading before I even saw that the strike was removed. I've never wanted to invest in UA-cam as a career or anything close to a major revenue stream. This kinda reaffirms that. I was thinking about whether it would be a good or bad idea to divest some time from business to UA-cam, but hell no.
+Louis Rossmann Come on Louis, stop your whining! You ARE above this! You are making a ton of money via UA-cam and you know it! Not just what UA-cam overpays you but all of the business that UA-cam has generated for you directly over the years. You should be grateful to UA-cam for this wonderful opportunity to produce and post your content for all to see. And no, I do not work for UA-cam!
+Louis Rossmann Going forward... I'll be buying a better mic setup and uploading both to YT and SoundCloud. "Content" is a business, YT is not... So now that I'm buying a better mic, will you eat that damn grape dangling in front of your mouth all the time ;)
Wayne Mitnick Really... so you have a login to my backend? So you can see what I spent on UA-cam vs. what I've made off of UA-cam? So you can see the 100+ emails I get a day from UA-cam people asking me to perform service for 20% my standard prices? Uhhh no.
Eli the Computer Guy Finding something that actually works in front of my hurricane of an office has been a nightmare. :( It measures 75 dB from my seat after air filter, fume extractor, air conditioner, hot air station, etc.... I fell in love with D:fine d88. If I ever get around to fixing the 4065 I got as a gift last year, you are welcome to it.. I don't need 3 different microphones, this sounds amazing but can't block out machine noise so it's just sitting collecting dust. If you have a PO box I can fix and send to you. This is what the TED talks use, it would be good practice fitting it for when you do yours ;)
How realistic would it be to create a decentralized video sharing platform? It would essentially work in the same spirit as Openbazaar, only instead of a decentralized Amazon/ebay-like marketplace it would be kinda like UA-cam but primarily serve as an extra layer of security. In the event something happens to your channel you'd still be able to connect with anybody subscribed to your decentralized network behind the scenes.
Considering there are at least 300 hours worth of content being uploaded every _minute_, I would say decentralizing anything like youtube in the way you're talking about would be in conceivable with technology in its current form.
Eli the Computer Guy In a sense yea, but I imagine it running in your browser like a website. It could look a lot like UA-cam, but instead of showing everything that exists, it pulls together a smaller collection of content providers that you have chosen to follow. At that point, as long as that person continues to produce content it cannot be removed by a company or some disgruntled 3rd party who doesn't like what you said. Whenever the channels you follow release new content, or something happens and you need to let your group know, it could send out a notice to other people on your group's network. The idea is you'd have to be online for at least one person to receive whatever the update was, and then they could become like a seeder of that new release to make it available to other group members when they come online. I really came to this idea just to make it more difficult for someone to silence other people through fraudulent DMCAs and simplify the act of connecting with people who have been removed from UA-cam.
My nature would be to fight them, but the hell w/em ! I think that wherever Eli would go, many of us would go too! It is You-Tubes loss. Just let me know where. I'll be there and thanks for all the great info. You have shed light on difficult subjects Eli. You the man ! :)
I'm sorry man, that really sucks. UA-cam really needs to do better when it comes to these community strikes. I had one for some "hacking videos" that I did years ago. It is annoying.
I just uploaded a video of 4 big youtuber's channels being taken down WTF!!! So many youtubers being randomly striked and terminated, is like youtube is desperate for people to leave them
I went through something similiar 3 months ago, I received 3 false community guidelines strikes and I spent 5 days desperately trying to contact youtube, btw Google's forums don't work whatsoever, I tried getting help there but all I got was people trying to justify as fair my false strikes despite not watching the videos nor my content., after 5 days of non stop research I was finally able to get a youtube employee that did actually checked my content and restored my channel
It's not just you sir. There are some VERY serious problems going on about UA-cam that nobody talks about. Basically the big channels keep quiet as long as they making good money. The small channels are too small to matter to UA-cam. You are almost big enough to matter to UA-cam but your channel is still small by UA-cam standards. The big channels are all in the millions of subs level. PewDiePie is over 30 million subs. Small up and coming channels like Casey Niestat are at 1.5 million. UA-cam is MASSIVE, so you need to have a MASSIVE voice to be heard. Also, just to let you know just HOW bad it is. I got a strike on copyright for using music that UA-cam said I could. I proved my case by sending screen shots of the site saying I could. They did even update that part of the site right away but it is corrected now. Meanwhile, I've been in your shoes for 3+ MONTHS now. I'm working with a partner manager and who has gotten me anything. I contacted support and they reply like they are a Philippines team following a script or worst a AI computer PROGRAM!! I even spoke to my producer at UA-cam Space and nothing. My channel was CLEAN record. There are many channels close to your size and bigger that are now defunct due to UA-cam nonsense and nobody seems to care. You can spend a decade on UA-cam and they will still delete you in a second with no warning or good explanation.
+FIXProtocol Oh...it's NOT about censoring. There is a guy on UA-cam right now that has violated 85% of the rules on a regular basis and he is living in some mansion which he probably got through hustling his subscribers with donations. HE does hate speech, racist stuff, calling for violence, lots of copyright violations and much more and even with THOUSANDS of people petitions, he is STILL going strong! The REAL problem is UA-cam has grown MASSIVELY out of control as for SIZE. It's WAY too many videos and channels to manage. They just don't have the resources. So they automate and maybe even outsource to 3rd word countries (my guess). Eli, I have some idea about what we can do about these problems. I'd love to share it with you. Please let me know if you are interested.
+FIXProtocol But Neistat's content doesn't teach me shit and this channel does. Video taping a pigeon taking a dump is considered more important then learning how to protect your PC from malware and other issues.
TekReview's We live in a dumbed down generation. People value pranks and cat videos more than things that could allow them to buy a house or go on their dream vacation. It's all about instant gratification over investing in yourself beyond what society says you should. People donated $112,000 to that racist fraud UA-camr who is a fraction the size of Eli but I bet if Eli asked for donations to help build his own platform outside UA-cam to bring more content to his fans, he might not even get $5000. Priorities are all out of wack. #HumansAreStupid
Dude, I just got a community guidelines strike my thumbnail which was about kissing and touching -- the new trend on youtube.... and the thumbnail was of two people kissing. I can't stream anymore :/
+MrRepzion It's really interesting that some of these popular UA-camrs that I watched/have watched before are commenting on this video. I didn't expect to see people like you, Repzion, on this channel. That's really cool!
Well this is a bummer, I stumbled on your old videos and was really jazzed... from 2010 and now to see it's come to this. Well I subscribed and I hope you can get this worked out. You have a great channel and I support you.
Hey Eli, you should consider looking at a format where you can stream your podcasts LIVE also. That way, perhaps you can start an IRC channel, with embedded webchat on your site(KiwiIRC for example), where you can get live feedback during your broadcast. It's just an idea. Maybe it's one you've already thought about, and ruled out, but I just thought I would throw it out there. Good luck.
As Eli is a tech guy, I was thinking more along the lines of Icecast, which could even be coupled with liquidsoap. I suppose there are plenty of point and click, "ready made" solutions out there though, if you don't mind being tied down by other people's TOS.
Eli, I love your content and have been subscribed to your channel for at least a year or more. This video appeared in my feed and I had not seen it before. Fast forward 4 years and you are still going strong, making unquestionably valuable content. Did UA-cam finally help you or did you just wait 6 months? Just a curious subscriber. As an IT professional, I am forever grateful to your excellent instruction. I have implemented several of your shared projects and have applied what I have learned from you.Thank you Sir!
Eli, out the full length vids on another service and upload the sample to youtube. at the end of the sample it says click the link for full length. start bringing UA-cam's customers to another service.
Eli, I just saw this video trending again in 2020. I'm so glad your still on UA-cam. Now you have over one million subs, its still working pretty good for you.
What the fuck UA-cam!! I literally subscribed a few days ago because I loved how technical he was and not just like idk Linus (I know this is different but just fallow along with me) where he basically just shows you hardware and some test. Eli goes in-depth about everything on a way that makes sense while relating it back to something useful. UA-cam has enough money to pay for a relationship between UA-camrs and UA-cam and not just say ha you fucked up here is your strike by a email. >$50,000 a year would be enough to get a courtesy call at least or a person. I get that is all about money, but it will be benefit UA-cam too. Eli have you thought of Vessel?
+Kris8530 I asked Vessel a few times, and they won't take channels like ours. That may change down the road, but they don't care for a lot of the educational videos. Keep in mind, true educational videos, you will have no way of knowing how many views they will get. The topic or whatever maybe what everyone wants to see, or not.
lol youtube is in the early stages off death, its pissing off a lot of creators latly so its only a matter off time till everyone goes over to daily motion
+NCHUBS123 Lately? This shit has been going on since early Google ownership days. Every single little decision they make is terrible and it primarily focused on making their pockets filled with money while saying fuck you to everyone else.
+NCHUBS123 I would say that youtube is well and truly dying at this point. UA-cam is losing it's content creators and is losing control over the content creators that are still there. Twitch has taken many content creators away from youtube and because youtube's system makes the rich richer very few new content creators are able to take the place of the people who left. Those who are still on youtube are also starting to branch out or simply don't depend on youtube for their income.
CleanReal Right, tell that to the advertisers. Ad revenue is a good way to judge the confidence companies have in youtube. Companies that lose trust a lot less quickly than normal users. And guess what, ad revenue is on the down. UA-cam red was a result of this and due to the way youtube implemented it it already failed before it even launched (only big channels without a patreon or donation option or people who did a lot of digging promoted it).
Tom Miller If you have watched any of his videos you would know that he gets offers for high paying jobs all the time. The only reason he is staying with UA-cam is because he can stay at home and doesn't have to deal with coworkers, boss, and etc.
+Andrew Fitz I don't believe he is "acting" like he isn't "freaking out" over losing a significant source of income. It's apparent he is frustrated with the situation. I watched the entire thing and I might have bad memory, but I did not see any part where he said he didn't care about ending this relationship with UA-cam.
Brother.... Am so sorry that this happened. Your content is so so so super amazing that it gives insights into why certain things are done a certain way. A simple example would be, i really a hatted unix, but then once you introduced the concept that unix is running on all major servers and the server version of each distributions, I got a hell a lot more excited to learn unix and your content all allowed me to pursue getting better at it. Its sad what happened, but hope you are doing well these days..
This is so sad. I have been watching your videos a few times over the years. And you are one of the persons who have helped me the most to knowing what I know about technology today. You have shared a lot with us, and I kind of feel like UA-cam has a problem with that. They are probably trying to limit what we learn in here.
UA-cam should invest in creating a department, a call center even, to handle situations like this. You can't automate everything. As stated... who wants to put so much time and effort into something, only for it to disappear in a snap of a finger due to lack of communication? It's bs.
Man, I feel your pain and frustration, Eli! Have enjoyed your videos for years now and will continue to follow you on soundcloud. UA-cam - get your act together!
Well that sucks! I just found you and subscribed yesterday! I guess it's off to sound-cloud I go. They'll eventually realize they've chased off all the decent creators but by then it'll be too late. Sorry man.
Eli, love your video's and straight talking way of explaining things, I too got burned by UA-cam, I was a UA-cam partner, I built up a channel to 700 + subscribers and was earning about $100 dollars a month until they changed their policy so that you needed 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time before you could make a cent from add revenue. So in essence, they basically kicked me off the partner program. It really sickened me so now I don't bother uploading videos anymore, I know I'm talking small numbers but It could have been something a lot bigger but I wouldn't dedicate any more time to it not knowing what UA-cam might do next. I feel your pain.
This is stupid too, I for one loved that video. Thanks to browsers auto-saving and auto-filling passwords, I forget them sometimes, as do other people. That video saved me and other people I know from getting lost passwords. You are a computer hero
Less than a year after posting this vid, you have over 100,000+ additional subscribers. I think you're doing pretty darn good. I've always loved your vids. You break things down into a completely understandable format, no matter the subject. I appreciate everything you do.
Im just curious how do you have 600k subscribers but all your videos in the past year only get like an average of maybe 15k views? Are most of your subs bots or somthing?
+ShadowManV3 My vids are up to 120 minutes in length... average view time is 9.5-10 minutes... you can watch 10 vlogbrother videos in the time it takes to watch one of mine... you can binge watch wheezywaiter on your coffee break, if you binge watch me it takes a whole day...
Eli the Computer Guy Yeah i get what u mean. Im not trying to diss on the fact u have that many. But i just think its odd u have so many and not even 100k per video. Even if ur videos are long. How did u get so many if ur viewers dont stick around?
ShadowManV3 ... don't know... In all seriousness I never "bought" subs even in the beginning because it's too easy to screw up and have something happen to your channel because you're trying to game the system... I would say that i talk about a diverse number of topics and people want to know what I'm uploading, but don't necessarily care about individual vids. Again... I watch EVERY vlogbrother vid that comes out because they are all entertaining... on the other hand if you're a sysadmin and I'm talking about phone systems you may not care at all...
Ive just heard of people buying subs or views. I didnt know if it was really a thing or not. I just recently started a youtube channel ( not this one haha another one cuz this is my personal one ) And I just have no idea how to get an audience with about being that annoying person who just goes on simular channels as mine and being like " Oh hey nice video, come check out my video if you guys wanna see simular stuff " like you see alot of the times. And the videos that talk about " how to get popular or more views on youtube" i dont think really work. I tag my videos, My videos are good 1080, professionally done videos and I know im a new channel but i still have no idea what to do to get more people then my friends on facebook to see it.
ShadowManV3 do 100 videos and then worry about it... a big factor for my "fast" rise was that I came to UA-cam with around 90 videos already created. I had been using my own platform beforehand and migrated a years worth of work to YT in a couple of days... Having a lot of content helps because people binge watch. They watch one vid and then another and so on... I watched a year of ZeFrank's videos in about a week. Obviously if you don't have many vids there's nothing to binge on... Beyond that find a topic to focus on people care about... video games... movies... politics... tech education... reviews.... the more people interested in the topic the better... you may have awesome content, but if you focus on the history of Guam there's just not that many people that care...
Damn... I've started learning a lot from Eli over the past few months and he is a brilliant teacher! Hope he gets a nice site outside of UA-cam for us to continue learning from! :) Going to miss the actual knowledgeable lessons instead of watching reviews of IT products :( Hoping he succeeds and exceeds well beyond the capabilities that UA-cam offers...
Hey Eli, when I was bored my freshmen year of high school I watched you introduction to networking video which sparked my interest in anything IT. Since then I kept pursuing more knowledge in IT/Tech, got several certifications, and am in my second year of college studying computer science. Thanks for introducing me to the tech world in a concise and entertaining way. Best of luck on your future endeavors.
+Eli the Computer Guy "Leaving youtube" "Moving over to facebook" "Boycott youtube movement" "Goodbye youtube" "Finally cutting cord with youtube" "Last video on ewwTube" these will alone get you million views, don't forget me if you know what i mean. P.S Hope 'algo' will not ban me for these comments lol!!!
+Eli the Computer Guy Another guy (Nostalgia critic) is front page on reddit right now with a similar complaint video, and his video has a link here. Plus I like your beard, so I figured I'd click that little red button.
Your videos helped me build and configure our work severs, from all of the comments I've seen before I'm not alone! Look forward to seeing your content on another platform!
+Ven Em shhh... go back to sleep... It was all a bad dream... TL;DR UA-cam screwed up, I screamed like hell, YT personally apologized, we're all good...
Eli the Computer Guy ya man, in a world of pewdiepie crop, your channel should be the least of UA-cam worries. Your win server 2012 DC setup vids helped a lot BTW so thank you for taking the time to make vids and keep the fight goin
Eli, your videos taught me a ton and helped to launch me into a new career path. I really appreciate your work. It's a damn shame that UA-cam is treating you unfairly. Good luck in your endeavors. Whatever you do will be successful I'm sure!
That completely sucks!!! I really appreciate all that you have shared and taught over the years. I count myself blessed to have had the opportunity to learn what I have from you this far. I wish you and your wife well. And, Godspeed on your future endeavors. HOOAH!!!
All good things do tend to come to and end, I for one will miss your videos, and am very grateful for what you have taught me. Obviously not including the "how to hack an html password field" bit, but everything else. Good luck on soundclound and in the future!
That is so messed up in the extream I love your tutorial videos that have been so very informative for my degree. I'm working on my Bachelors in Cyber Security in Computer Security Systems. So I hope you're able find a site where you can post your video content without any hassles .
I am kinda glad you are going through this stuff with UA-cam because you are a very creative guy with a pretty good following. It is cool that you are able to send your followers to other platforms, maybe inspire them to create better platforms than UA-cam. UA-cam needs the competition; this video has inspired me to look else where for video content. There are channels on here that practice their freedom of speak very well, but you show NO violations with a dumb hacking video.... them clamping you like that boggles me. These companies are trying to corner these industries while clamping our creativity to make a extra buck.
Keep fighting the fight. I certainly hope that you continue to share your expertise. You have made a difference in other peoples lives and bettered the world for it. You'll always have that, regardless of UA-cam. Thanks Eli for helping me in my knowledge and career goals. Also, the 15min time allotment may be a great opportunity to challenge your editing abilities and add to your style. Break up the content into concise segments with chapters and visual aids for example. Think micro and macro, bits and bytes, smaller ideas to larger concepts and do it with content length- for the time being.
Sorry about the situation with youtube. I was really looking forward to a C++ class from you. I also had some questions befor I start my career path in gamming
Dude, I've been watching you for years. First saw your vids in my Electronics Engineering Classes in college back in 2011 or so. Hate that you're going through this stuff.
This is sad news. I've learned so much thanks to this channel. Specially your play list about networking. UA-cam must show a bit of respect to its valuable content creators and handle these issues in a flexible manner. They are not doing anyone any good by bringing down good quality creators like you.
Dude, you are awesome. You taught me so much about computers, servers, and etc. Whatever UA-cam says, or people who don't have anything better than flagging you, I sincerely thank you for your works and efforts to teach us all about technology. I can see all your audience as it can be seen (by the mins watched and your over 687k subs)! Although, if you were to ask me, that would be like the last video of yours I would think would be taken down. I watched it recently though, and it is back. They maybe thought over this again, because I see that video, and just watched it a few mins ago. Anyway, I hope your videos stay up and help others in the future as they helped me and your current audience.
I remember trying what you showed in that video to see if it works. And it did. I'm surprised that UA-cam isn't showing you any loyalty and treating someone with so many subscribers any better. I guess you can do videos like Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 etc.
Eli, I'm sorry this happened. I just wanted to say I've personally used that HTML inspect element trick MANY times for my customers who have forgotten their passwords but had them saved in some website that they forgot about as well. Hardly hacking, rather an essential tech trick!
sound cloud shall be then, all my support to Eli from Chile, been following him for a while 4 years now, tell anybody i know in tech world to listen to you. what about the classic everymanit website? It is time for you to go on your own Eli, something yours, something better, with no restrictions. I know you are going to get something good out of this. Love you man.
the writing on the wall moment i think was when he went to the UA-cam meeting at CES and saw the evil execs of UA-cam, then this happened... well you will still go far!
This news is really disappointing, but over these 7 years you have proved yourself a very resourceful person. I wish you all the best with your future pursuits, and I'll keep an eye out for your content. Thanks Eli!
Really sorry for what has happened to you. I find your channel very interesting and informative. I came to look at a recent tutorial that I watched from you to try it out on my computer about ftp and ssh. Man I'm really bummed that you're not gonna do no more classes. I hope the best for you and I hope things will turn out better. Is there any way we can help in the matter to get you back for more than 15 minutes. I haven't read all comments yet so I apologize if the answer is already out there, but I wanted to speak my mind. Thank you very much for your time and effort on this channel.
This is pretty sad to hear actually. I've come to your videos for networking (FTP, LAN\WAN ect) type issues multiple times. Helped me set up my home networking and refine it even more (granted I'm not new to networking, just not an expert). UA-cam has lost it's way, and has become a money hungry organization.
Too bad. I first ran across you a couple of years ago when I was studying for my net + certification. Other people in my class watched your vids too. But I understand and you gotta do what you gotta do. Thanks for the help by the way. Your lesson on subnet masking was a break through for me. I know about you other websites so I will be checking that out.
i hear and read this kind of stuff all the time. I used to analyze and try to formulate an objective opinion, kind of like what you're doing in this video. but this and other, what seems to be non logical, crazy greedy actions are so common that all i can say now is just "wow...i feel you bro"
I've heard quite a bit of the leaving youtube talk over the past couple years. A lot of the channels I follow have also started uploading on other video sites as well, just to be ready if this day came for them.
Do Patreon! UA-cam is going to be completely dead and a corporate cesspool filled with mainly high budget garbage in the next 3 years and then a year after that, it'll be dead and just fade away just like Myspace
I'm sorry man, It sucks that youtube works that way. I follow your videos because they bring a lot of content and I learned a lot from them. I hope everything gets back in place buddy.
Eli, I just want to say think you. You have helped me out hugely with your classes, and taught me many valuable things. You have assisted me in making life choices, and promoted nothing but good trough your videos. Yes, you may have shouted and sworn along the way, but welcome to the tech world! I will see you on sound cloud! I cant believe youtube is letting this happen. What type of business is run like that.
I just started watching your videos and learned so much. Thank you for teaching and sharing. I sorry to see this last video that your not doing video. :(.. Thank you again. Great instructors
I agree with you Eli, There's no reason to build sand castles here if UA-cam is just going to destroy them. I'm glad you're going to keep making the long videos, they're really good, and I for one am going to keep watching. And also, another reason this is dumb is because, your content isn't made for teenagers, it's made for adults, if they want to hack then chances are they'll do it, your video isn't going to sway their judgment either way. Good luck with everything you're working on. I'll be listening to the podcasts.
That sucks so damn much, don't you have a 'handler' at UA-cam that you can contact directly about this? you could also do multi-part videos to get around the 15min restriction, hopefully you can get this all figured out!
Someone needs to do something to fight this. Maybe come up with something that directly competes with UA-cam (even to the point of attack ads) and you as well as other channels that have dealt with this need to join together and you need to bring this up to the EFF.
+James Austria ..... you don't get it. this is essentially his product that makes him and UA-cam money and UA-cam is basically firing him and you expect him to keep working while he's fired
@Eli ....I'm not really familiar with youtube uploads and policies.....but wouldn't a work around of the time limitations be to just have 2/3/+ part videos? i know it's not ideal and there are principles involved....but unless something prevents this or there are logistic/contractual issues i'd consider it
Great idea to move to soundcloud. Sucks what happened with youtube and I wish you would stay. But its great to hear you aren't dumping this all completely and just moving over to soundcloud. I wish you the best of luck for the future Eli :) Followed you on soundcloud too!
Ah damn! I just randomly found a video of yours, liked it and thought 'I like this guy! I'll check out his channel!' And see this :( sorry to hear this, I don't think there has been a day go by in the last week where I haven't heard about some shit like this that UA-cam is pulling. Fight the power man!
Well, I'm sorry it happened to you. Although if you do move to podcast that would be easier I would think. I've been in the process of taking a lot of UA-cam videos and converting them to MP3 so I can listen to them while I'm driving. Granted there's no visuals, but it's something. So could you address the differences and benefits of the various certifications? Why would I want to get an MCSA or maybe I should go for a CISSP as examples? Should I go for CEH since you talk against hacking?
You are the best Eli I wish I could speak out in your favor you have helped us a lot throughout these several years if I meet anyone who works in UA-cam I ll definitely mention your situation ...
Eli, you teached me a lot on youtube and motivated me to learn IT stuff and i have to thank you on great videos, I wish you all the best, and i hope they will get your account to normal state
Sorry to hear this. You put in much to much time do get screwed. You have all right on your side and have all the right to be much more pissed than you show. I have had IT professors recommend your videos over their own lectures (most recently Windows Server 2012 Introduction directly linked from our Blackboard site.) You really deserve better.
I'm so sorry you're going through all this. The upside is you're going to be diversifying your business & content across other platforms. THAT can only be a good thing for you (and us, because I'm sure you'll share your journey =) I remember watching that 'Hacking' video. It was nothing! Sheesh! Thanks for spelling out what happened. We've all learned a lesson.... at your expense. It reminds me of the Despair.com Mistakes, "It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others." Ha ha ha!
Google took down one of my videos due to an audio copy write violation. I wrote the song and recorded all the music myself :/
I filed a claim and it got rejected.
+TekReview's
If robots could be judges and juries, then we'd have robotic judges and juries.
So now that I'm buying a better mic, will you eat that damn grape dangling in front of your mouth all the time ;)
Wayne Mitnick
Really... so you have a login to my backend? So you can see what I spent on UA-cam vs. what I've made off of UA-cam? So you can see the 100+ emails I get a day from UA-cam people asking me to perform service for 20% my standard prices? Uhhh no.
Eli the Computer Guy
Finding something that actually works in front of my hurricane of an office has been a nightmare.
+Anzwertree sounds like Bittorrent...
Considering there are at least 300 hours worth of content being uploaded every _minute_, I would say decentralizing anything like youtube in the way you're talking about would be in conceivable with technology in its current form.
+The Bees Knees - inconceivable** stupid auto correct
Already exists, is called MediaGoblin.
My nature would be to fight them, but the hell w/em ! I think that wherever Eli would go, many of us would go too! It is You-Tubes loss. Just let me know where. I'll be there and thanks for all the great info. You have shed light on difficult subjects Eli. You the man ! :)
NOOOO!!! I LEARNED SO MUCH FROM YOU! You are what got me to where i am today...
I'm sorry man, that really sucks. UA-cam really needs to do better when it comes to these community strikes. I had one for some "hacking videos" that I did years ago. It is annoying.
You realize that it was false, right? Check his channel

*facepalm*
That sucks, dude. I'm going to watch your update videos now, but even knowing that this happened has to be frustrating.
FIXProtocol Totally true. It's a "whose balls do I need to suck to get a better paycheck" world.
+FIXProtocol
I don't suppose you'd be able to name drop that guy?
Dude, I just got a community guidelines strike my thumbnail which was about kissing and touching -- the new trend on youtube.... and the thumbnail was of two people kissing. I can't stream anymore :/
+MrRepzion That sucks. Political Correctness is the poison of this generation -_-'
+MrRepzion It's really interesting that some of these popular UA-camrs that I watched/have watched before are commenting on this video. I didn't expect to see people like you, Repzion, on this channel. That's really cool!
+MrRepzion Hello Repz, I'm a sub
+MrRepzion you like to watch Eli too? Cool!
I hope my UA-cam Sucks video doesn't get taken down then... Worried about the future of UA-cam.
You aren't the only one in the new year, several youtubers about your size has had issues with monetization, strikes and video removal.
Good luck.
+mtnvortex Twitch.
+CleanReal he doesnt play video games
+Molly Popper linus streams the wan show on twitch sometimes they let tech channels through
As Eli is a tech guy, I was thinking more along the lines of Icecast, which could even be coupled with liquidsoap. I suppose there are plenty of point and click, "ready made" solutions out there though, if you don't mind being tied down by other people's TOS.
+mtnvortex www.change.org/p/youtube-google-inc-google-youtube-needs-to-stop-bullying-its-content-creators?recruiter=478247918&
+Kris8530
I asked Vessel a few times, and they won't take channels like ours. That may change down the road, but they don't care for a lot of the educational videos.
Keep in mind, true educational videos, you will have no way of knowing how many views they will get. The topic or whatever maybe what everyone wants to see, or not.
+Tech Reviews and Help Linus is on Vessel they have no problem with him. Real tech channels are considering non important.
Thats stupid in Vessel's part!
Sorry to see you go. But you gotta do whats best for you man. Best of luck to you.
lol youtube is in the early stages off death, its pissing off a lot of creators latly so its only a matter off time till everyone goes over to daily motion
UA-cam wont be dying anytime soon despite all the shit fest going on
+Brook Fest Its definitely going to be hurt
CleanReal
Right, tell that to the advertisers.
This dude is acting like he's not freaking out over losing basically his job, but you can tell he is. SAD!
+Andrew Fitz You know he could get a job with one phone call paying a lot more than youtube right?
UA-cam has sucked ass since Google bought it.. hate to see you go, I've picked up some great tips from your vids.
Well that sucks! I just found you and subscribed yesterday! I guess it's off to sound-cloud I go. They'll eventually realize they've chased off all the decent creators but by then it'll be too late. Sorry man.
Eli the 15 Minute Computer Guy
Sorry to hear this, Eli. Your videos have really helped me out learning the basics. I wish you well with whatever you move onto :(
damn. i found your stuff really helpful. i hope you don't leave
if you found the stuff here interested then you better not quit your day job.
Ridiculous UA-cam policy and carelessness !
This is really sad, your expertise will be missed. Thank you for all your time committed to explaining stuff !!
tl;dw:
- Read the video description for the meat of it.
- 14 minutes of rambling filler.
This is stupid too, I for one loved that video. Thanks to browsers auto-saving and auto-filling passwords, I forget them sometimes, as do other people. That video saved me and other people I know from getting lost passwords. You are a computer hero
I was pissed at youtube ever since they took porn down
Less than a year after posting this vid, you have over 100,000+ additional subscribers.
Going to miss the actual knowledgeable lessons instead of watching reviews of IT products :(
Hoping he succeeds and exceeds well beyond the capabilities that UA-cam offers...
FUCK UA-cam! Seriously..
Best of luck on your future endeavors.
can your audience appeal this crappy judgement??
+Rich Chiuppi The strike simply disappeared last night and the video went back to being public... I did a vid today about it...
+Eli the Computer Guy Awww crap... Just getting to it. Glad they came to their senses. I'll watch the videos for more info... Give them hell Eli!!!
+Eli the Computer Guy Lol congrats.
Aw man, I just heard about this from Reddit. So sorry to hear about this. It sucks.
This is such Bullshit i love this guy
That is a very strange decision from UA-cam. Hopefully things get resolved quickly. You're video tutorials are excellent.
You should do more of this "Leaving UA-cam." videos, if you know what i mean hahahaa.
+THATRANDOMGUY Ironically all my stats shot way up for this vid... even new subs...
+Eli the Computer Guy
"Leaving youtube"
"Moving over to facebook"
"Boycott youtube movement"
"Goodbye youtube"
"Finally cutting cord with youtube"
"Last video on ewwTube"
these will alone get you million views, don't forget me if you know what i mean.
P.S Hope 'algo' will not ban me for these comments lol!!!
+Eli the Computer Guy Another guy (Nostalgia critic) is front page on reddit right now with a similar complaint video, and his video has a link here. Plus I like your beard, so I figured I'd click that little red button.
My support to you Eli. Like many others I watched dozens of your videos. I find your in depth content unique for the youtube.
Thanks YT. You've ruined another awesome channel for NO REASON. YT is going down the Tube, the bigger it gets.
Your videos helped me build and configure our work severs, from all of the comments I've seen before I'm not alone! Look forward to seeing your content on another platform!
WTF?!
All my support, dude.
As an IT professional, I understand your rage.
You don't deserve this.
Hey Eli, this totally sucks. I watched one of your IT videos a couple of months ago, and it was interesting and informative. Good luck!
I've learned so much thanks
to this channel.
Well, this hasn't aged well....
Even though this is an older video, it's well spoken & well defined, thumbs up.
That sucks Eli. Love your content. Hope UA-cam realizes their mistake and makes things right.
the writing on the wall moment i think was when he went to the UA-cam meeting at CES and saw the evil execs of UA-cam, then this happened... well you will still go far!
Bummer, sorry to hear how to UA-cam is treating you. Good luck on your other venues.
I hope everything gets back in place buddy.
sad. c'mon UA-cam. "see" you on SoundCloud Eli! glad you arent going away altogether - youve taught me alot! UA-cam's loss.
Eli - your videos are the best. I really hope you keep doing what your doing (even if it's not on UA-cam) and being an inspiration for us all!
This hasn't aged well
I just started watching your videos and learned so much. Thank you for teaching and sharing. I sorry to see this last video that your not doing video. :(.. Thank you again. Great instructors
So sorry to hear, love you and your videos! Good luck in future endeavors!
If anything that video is highlighting to developers -" how better to protect their sites from vulnerabilities" - PS. love your videos
If it were me I'd delete all of my content, and close my account. Two can play the my bat, my ball game.
I like being able to pay bills...
+Eli the Computer Guy u r smart so maybe a job/business?
exactly.
+Eli the Computer Guy
Upload your videos to your website!
+James Austria ..... you don't get it. this is essentially his product that makes him and UA-cam money and UA-cam is basically firing him and you expect him to keep working while he's fired
I'm sorry this happened to you man. I'm already following you on soundcloud, can't wait to listen more of your podcasts :)
I didn't really watch your videos, but I still feel very sad and frustrated for you. Hope things work out for you in your life!
That's very sad you have taught me a lot man i will miss you man. Take care
You are the best Eli I wish I could speak out in your favor you have helped us a lot throughout these several years if I meet anyone who works in UA-cam I ll definitely mention your situation ...
that really sucks about UA-cam..... i hope u get back soon... i love your teachings
THAT can only be a good thing for you (and us, because I'm sure you'll share your journey =)
I remember watching that 'Hacking' video. It was nothing! Sheesh!
Thanks for spelling out what happened. We've all learned a lesson.... at your expense. It reminds me of the Despair.com Mistakes, "It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others." Ha ha ha!
