    I gave my sister some of the advice you're kindly sharing with us. First, she went to 3 interviews in less than a month. Second, I insisted she'd ask questions to the companies. Whas reserved about it, but it proved she was the only one asking from all the candidates :) She blew them off and got hired! Thanks!

    Hey Andy I applied for a job in an ATS and didn’t hear anything. Recently I received an email from a corporate recruiter from the company that with another job she felt I was a good fit for based on my skills. She requested two samples a project plan and an example of a data driven decision. I have the phone interview with her on tomorrow. I do have your book, I have questions ready, and I feel prepared thanks to your resources and videos. Thanks can you make a video on this type of scenario or does this exist on your channel? I never applied for the job she emailed me about and per her the job is no longer posted on the website? Is this a plus???

    With my employer one of the first things they tell everyone during an interview is, if we are interested it could be as long as 90 days before contacting you. They have found that this one thing will reduce the number of willing applicants by 30%. They had sixteen openings and more than 3300 applicants online alone. They have a third party narrow the field down to a manageable number then they call everyone in for a one on one interview this can take weeks. Now narrowed down even further they start doing background checks and this reduces the number enormously. Next they simply pick the best of the best form those that are left then call them, this is why it takes so long.

    Hi Andrew, I am still confused about how to answer this question after listening to your videos. I applied to medical residency position and there is no job description and all the candidates are pretty the same regarding finishing medical school and applying. How can I separate myself from others and be unique in answering. If I have an experience in specialty I am applying to, can I say something like, I am a medical graduate and I have experience in ...Thank you so much for your videos and your replies.

    Hi Andrew,
    I just recently came across your channel and am liking it so far. My company is launching a "Future Leadership Program". The first step of the process is that they asked us to write a short explanation on why we want to be part of the program. I was wondering if you any tips on how to write something like this?
    Would really appreciate any tips. Thank you

    • @andylacivita
      @andylacivita  7 років тому +1

      Sascha! Welcome to the channel and I'm thrilled you're enjoying it! Regarding your question, of course I have some insight! :) The very best answer to to a question regarding why you want to be a (future) leader would be to align you desire to SERVE that particular area you'd be leading. I'm assuming that Future Leader Program is creating leaders to lead a given cause (internally within your org or externally to your customers or community). You need to show you're interested in serving that particular cause. The silver bullet isn't in addressing why you want to be a part of the program. The gold is in your ability to highlight why you want to serve the cause the program is ultimately benefiting. You are welcome to share with me those causes and I'd be happy to respond again with a more detailed answer related to your specific cause. Hope that helps!

    • @sascha4162
      @sascha4162 7 років тому

      Hi Andrew, thank you for your reply.
      The background of the future leader program is, that there are many people interested in becoming team leads in the company I work for. Unfortunately opportunities are rare and if one arises there is plenty of applications. The program was designed to give people insight into the role and provide training to prepare to be a team manager. On the whole there 6 or 7 departments that each will have 2 places on the program. For my department that leaves about 60 potential candidates. I was never really good at explaining the reasons for why I wanted to do something. The programme does not promise a role as team lead, but an advantage for future opportunities.

    • @andylacivita
      @andylacivita  7 років тому +1

      That's good info. I'd focus on the fact (assuming this is true) that you aspire to be a team leader because you want to help mentor and coach the other people within the organization and want to create a greater impact for the organization (by way of people development, process development, and an other impacts being a team leader would have). Focus on the BENEFIT to the people and company and NOT on your desire to climb the ranks. Career elevation will happen as a result of you focusing on the benefits to others and the company and its customers.

    • @sascha4162
      @sascha4162 7 років тому +1

      One part of this program would be to cover for any team lead when he or she is out of office. I was thinking to point out the fact that I would be able to lighten the workload of the other managers as they wouldn't need to take over another team. Is this something I could write or better not?

    • @andylacivita
      @andylacivita  7 років тому +1

      Yes. 100%. Anything you can work in like that. Anything that highlights how you want to SUPPORT the organization by helping, relieving, etc. Check out Servant Leader Concepts. Just Google it. Focus your responses that way. Just make sure you mean it!!!!! :)

    Hi Andrew, thanks alot for your videos!! you are a blessing! How do I prepare (Resume and for the interview) an open application to company with no specific job description?
    Secondly, how do I handle with confidential clients, informations from former projects in my resume and in the application process in general?
    Thanks so much!

    • @andylacivita
      @andylacivita  7 років тому +1

      Hey There! Thanks for watching and thanks for your questions! And, thanks too for the kind words!! When you are targeting a company and you don't have a job descriptions (in particular), use this technique: milewalk.com/mwblog/how-to-boss-hunt-with-a-cover-letter-that-makes-hearts-melt/. That targeting technique--the one without a particular position in mind will work well. As for the resume and the job interview, I would make sure to highlight the areas you think are important based on what the company does. That is, if it's an engineering organization, you'd want to highlight your "engineering" type skills (e.g., organization, analysis, design, etc.). With confidential clients, simply use generic names on your resume. Instead the specific name, you can use large retailer, small software firm, medium-size global pharmaceutical company or something on that order. Hope this helps. BTW, I hope you tune in next Thursday because I'm discussing the RESUMES!

    I had an interesting interview a couple of weeks ago that I had not experienced before. It was an automated audio interview. Are you hearing more about these?

    • @andylacivita
      @andylacivita  7 років тому +1

      Hey John, I am hearing more about these as well as automated video interviews. My clients (the hiring companies we recruit for) do not use them. If they did, I would not represent them because they are incredibly impersonal and don't provide the candidate an opportunity to learn about or engage with the company. In my opinion they are atrocious and likely an indicator of how sterile and impersonal it will be to work with that particular company.

    Hey Andy, I hope your day is going well. I have a follow-up question regarding salary negotiations.I'm not working at the moment, but I'm doing an unpaid internship and volunteers work. Also, I have recently graduated with a bachelor degree in science with honors. When I applied for jobs related to my field of study, recruiters I want to offer me 3 or 4 dollars more the minimum wage in NY. Moreover, I have 5 years of customer services experience doing volunteers, internships, and working experience. Furthermore, I have 3 years of experience of clerical works. When I was working, I was earning 1.10 dollars more of the minimum wage. It was also a part-job and I was a college student. Every time I had phone interviews, recruiters said: "it is good salary $13 or $14 because you're not getting for your work." How should I answer that? I need help! Thank you in advance.

    • @andylacivita
      @andylacivita  6 років тому +1

      isis ramirez hey Isis. You want to stress the value you will contribute to the employer. you want to stress to the recruiter that is not about what they consider an acceptable earning level is for you but more about what you can contribute based on your experience and performance in the interviews!

    Andrew, I think what you say is really great but I have one piece of constructive criticism for you. I don't think you should refer to the 'dreaded Tell Me About Yourself' question, saying that has created that connection in my mind and I am sure others peoples as well. This has now made me dread this question and feel irrationally nervous when I face it, I am now working on delinking the connection.
