    1:30 is the moment I realized why hearing this piece on a guitar arrangement made sense. That specific part when the melody takes a deviation to a slower pace sounds superb in guitar only!

    The voicing here actually works better on the guitar than a trio version I heard. Sounds more comfortably guitaristic.

    It is a shame that transcribing it to guitar kind of diminished the dynamic range, which is originally one of the most interesting aspects about this piece. However, I did enjoy your interpretation very much. Well done!

    Are you kidding me? That is incredible!! It's such a beautiful piece for the piano. It demands so much control and so much dynamic. Stevan Jovic, you rock! I was just curious to see if anyone had attempted to play rachmaninov on the guitar and stumbled upon this. It made my whole night.

    Bravo, Stevan great playing, love your version for guitar solo: I did the same idea in 1993 dedicated to violinist Ruggiero Ricci: now for the last years it's the favourite encore of Frank Peter Zimmermann, perhaps you already heard his terrific playing which is on UA-cam. Also played by Joanna Kamenarska on UA-cam...My version is published at Ovation Press, Chicago...
    Congrats and greetings, Ernst

    Beautiful playing.
    And the natural reverb of the room really enhances the tone of the guitar. A very wise choice. There are many videos out there of great classical guitar players, but their tone is very often too dry. I hope they all follow your lead by recording in a similar room with some natural reverb.
    Excellent!

    beautiful and technical arrangement but as a guitarist and huge fan of russian composers im afraid i have to admit that i miss the power and dynamics of the piano version. I find myself quite often wishing we had some original guitar repertoire by composers like Rachmaninoff or Chopin. Nontheless i really enjoyed this. Well done sir !!!

    Мне кажется странным что производители без спроса суют во все гитары трансакустику, делая инструмент дороже. Но никто еще не додумался сунуть туда действительно нужную вещь, как -октавер.
    Хотя о чем я, производители классических просто плюют забывая о катавее.

    Well take on a very "pianistic" piece. However I feel much is left out that is necessary for the colors of each part of the piece, and how they relate to each other. Nonetheless, you made it into something else, something interesting and admiring. I dont think its fair of people to compare this arrangement on a guitar next to the original version played on a piano (even tho guitars still can be powerful, perhaps not as much as a piano in volume, still a guitar can be powerful.) In that sense, in my opinion it doesn't work. But if you close your eyes and forget that it was once a piano piece, its pretty damn good. The middle section however kinda ruins it. I dont think that could be arranged for a guitar in anyway, and doesnt make sense made into a guitar piece. But oh well

    • @Michachel
      @Michachel 9 місяців тому +1

      Obviously it’s difficult to accurately transcribe a piece from piano to guitar especially something with as much depth as this prelude, but if you take the guitar composition as an individual work without comparing it to the original it’s really nice

    • @jovicstevan
      @jovicstevan  5 років тому +28

      @@alexismandelias you are reading a lot into a harmless comment! Ok, so: This is not my music, its my arrangement of Sergei Rachmaninoff's Prelude Op. 23 No. 5. The idea was to add another work into the classical guitar repertoire by arranging a work for piano. Like composers and guitarists from the 19th and the 20th century did: Tarrega, Llobet, Segovia, etc. Since the classical guitar repertoire is not quite as broad as it is for other instruments such as piano and the violin, we are all very thankful for every new piece or arrangement. In that sense, my arrangement of Rachmaninoff was a small contribution to the repertoire. During the process of writing it, I was working closely with competent people, piano professors from Russia and Serbia, who thought The Prelude worked very well on the guitar. Did you ever consider that what that person said might be quite offensive to me, after all the hard work I put in to the arrangement, all the hours of practicing, and time spent on the video production? Now back to you, look, don't attach the word racist in any way to me, that is a very hard word. Shame on you. To make everything very clear, my response simply meant that the person was not competent to judge this project. That's all. I have the right to say that. It was nothing more than simply stating that the person isn't competent, no hidden meanings, so forget about all that lower "class" stuff. You have no idea about who I am, my history and my life. Attaching those words to someone based on one comment is quite biased and judgemental on your part. I have the right to say what I feel, and I felt that the person wasn't competent. Free speech is a thing, you know, I have a right to respond in a free and honest way. I just decided to respond not in a serious way, but more in a funny joking way. I don't think that's so terrible. Obviously that is what bothered you. I don't why. Maybe you should to take time, try to find peace and harmony inside yourself rather than nitpick and create hostility where there is none.
