Ciara Renee has officially put her stamp on the beloved character of Esmeralda. For those who were unable to witness her astounding performance at the Papermill Playhouse. Now you have the evidence that when The Hunchback of Notre Dame is ready come back to life on the stage. Ms.Renee is the one to portray her! She embodies her in every sense. It's life changing! :)
I saw Hunchback on Easter Sunday matinee (its last performance was that night) and Ciara, and the whole show, was great.

I'm so glad to say I did have the honor of seeing it at Papermill Playhouse! It was awesome!!
I saw her when Hunchback was at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego, with my dad and aunt, and I'll agree with that. :)

I had the pleasure of seeing her at La Jolla before it went to papermill. absolutely breath taking. I will forever be bitter that this show got cancelled for broadway in favor of frozen.

I don't understand why they didn't bring The Hunchback of Notre Dame to Broadway. They are doing waaaayyyy too much with Frozen. The Hunchback of Notre Dame would be way better as a Broadway show. And possibly easier too.
No real reason was given if I'm not mistaken and it would have been a pretty cheap show to make on average it was a very minimalist stage and few costume changes. I personally believe that because it took its story from the book rather then the Disney movie they chickened out as it wasn't "family friendly"

honestly, as an avid ATHEISTIC, this song transcends religion. Its has themes of selflessness and taking a stand for equality which is something super respected. it sends a message thats specifically directing it towards the marginalised group of people. honestly the whole play was condemning the institutions rather than actual religion.

This song always sends chills down my neck. It's such a heart wrenching story compressed into under five minutes. I wish I had gotten the opportunity to see the Hunchback as a stage show.
