I did this Mod on my 2014 Z51. Made a huge difference in the fun factor of driving my car. I was thinking of getting an upgraded exhaust from Borla, honestly... no need with with this little mod. Car is nice loud and throaty all the time now. Thank you for showing me this! =)
This was the best video I've seen on this topic. It's been so frustrating reading forums and other videos say, "Just use Track mode in the menu screen!" and completely fail to acknowledge that even in Track mode, the valves still close at low RPM. The difference is real though 👍
This is awesome. I have been looking at thousands of $$ after market pikes, but wasn't really impressed for the money, your meal replacement certainly satisfies the hunger. Thank you!
WARNING! The fuse does not just operate the exhaust valves. You will also effect other systems in your vehicle. It will not activate warning lights on your dash because those are only for critical system failures (that's why some people call them idiot lights for those who don't do routine maintence), however when you run computer diagnostics you will see several system errors within the driving components of traction control, differential, brakes, etc.
Somebody betta' tell 'em... That's not a good idea just to have a good sound. Stop being cheap, Get an exhaust mod, they're not that pricey....especially for a car like that...🤔
Ahh I can't get over how good the C7's sound. I hope to be able to buy one pre-owned when I graduate from college 3 years from now (presumably with a good job). I'm hoping they'll have depreciated by a good amount by then.
CarGuy11 yeah I'm really not happy about the mid-engine decision for the entire C8 platform. I was really hoping that only the special edition will be mid-engined. I made a vlog talking about my thoughts on it
CarGuy11 I agree although I doubt it's going to Caddy because they just invested so much money into the Chevy factory at Bowling Green. If the price stays around 60k for a base Vette then I'll be happy
thx man, just got a used 15 convertible, its a base model without z51 exhaust so its super quiet unless you really step on the gas..its a ton of fun but i find myself speeding to hear it..lol
that’s funny. i did the same thing on my c6 and ran it without incident for ten years that way. on my 2014, the fuse is number 41. not 42. fuse 42 in my car is a 10 amp fuse for the reverse lockout and #41 is the 20 amp exhaust flap fuse. perhaps the legend printed on the inside of the fuse box cover was printed wrong. or maybe they made a change. my car is an early 2014 premiere edition.
Very helpful vid, CarGuy11 and very helpful info, Mark Morse. I have a 2014 Z51, so you just made my life a little easier and my fun more funner --- Thanks!
Pulled the 42 on my 2016. Much louder and with with the Range AFM defeat device on, valves never close as the 4 cylinder mode is disabled. Love it, makes a racket but still pretty quiet when you’re not on it.
I think there is a setting that will allow the loud exhaust all the time without pulling the fuse. It is in Settings, Driving Mode, Engine Sound Management, click it off. Loud all the time.
I feel like what’s more important about this “mod” is that before, when you start the engine it sounds very dull and after when you start it, it sounds much better
@@nightghost7755 No unfortunately just Sport. Also you can manually set exhaust mode in settings & use M2Wild switch. ua-cam.com/video/PYgidQ2Xke8/v-deo.html
CarGuy11 quick question, is the 4 cylinder mode a lot louder with the fuse pull or does the secondary valves make it near silent? Hard to tell on the video
My question is is there more crackle/ burble in the lower gears when you accelerate and then let off? I drove a C7 with the AWE touring exhaust and it did this and it sounded so nice… If this doesn’t do that I’ll have no choice but to just swap out the axleback… I’m my opinion that’s how a corvette should really sound like
Thanks for watching! I use TrackAddict app on phone for gauges. 4 cyl mode is disabled in all driving modes except ECO with manual. ua-cam.com/video/yIqUHl__Ric/v-deo.html
I did this pull the fuse trick on a standard C7 exhaust a later on a had a code appear. Took it to GM dealer and they said the fuse also involves the emmisions system. Reinstalled fuse and no more codes.
No but you can use Eco Mode which will close afm valves in 4cyl mode. The other option is get a Mild to Wild switch like I installed. ua-cam.com/video/PYgidQ2Xke8/v-deo.html&t
Looks like you have it in Touring Mode not Track Mode? In Touring Mode the Valves will favour being closed more then open, I drive around in Track Mode when I want a more audible permanent exhaust note.
so this will not effect my car right, no lights or check engine I’m seeing different comments but I really wanna do it (i know you mentioned it in the video but people are confusing me lol)‼️
No the valves still close as shown in the video. Another option is getting a MildtoWild switch as I installed in this video. ua-cam.com/video/PYgidQ2Xke8/v-deo.html&t
My 2013 Grand Sport will run the Cross Flags on screen too when I shut the radio off. Our '14 has the option of a blank screen or the clock...and its a BIG clock lol!!
Hey CG11 just watched a video that shows you can go into settings and set exhaust on track sound at any drive setting. Is this different than what pulling the fuse does. Doesn't look like it.
Good sir, do you know why my flaps are NOT opening whenever I pull the fuse…that should default them to stay open always. I have a 2013 Grand Sport. Thank you!
i have the same car..pulled fuse sounds louder. lots of carbon on the outside tips. but nothing on the inside ones as if they are not working lol... is there another fuse or somthinf i can
The inside tips are used when the valves are closed because they go through the muffler which is more restriction. So not much comes out of them when the valves are open.
Hi bro there is another exhaust valve fuse which is 32 why didnt you pull that one ? My cts v has 2 exhaust valve fuses but which one do i need to pull ? Its 35 and 38 and im confused actually maybe its the same way you used to choose and thanks
Hey great video, just pulled my valve2 fuse 42! Question the manual of my 2015 basic says valve 1 is fuse 32, so I pulled that one too. Can't wait for the rain to stop so ai can test the sound...
Thankz Mucho for that! never liked the way the exhaust note goes away at low speeds ... love the sound of V8 rumble! maybe now I won't have to go so fast just to hear it...well...maybe 😏
I'm assuming this will work in my 2016 Z06? I hate when it gets quiet! I drive it in Sport mode only. (If it will work, is it still fuse # 42 on mine) Just FYI: My dealer told me (for whatever it's worth) that Track mode is reserved for the track only. Driving it Track mode can "damage" it if it's driven on the street...Don't know if it's true, just what he said...
Yes should work the same in Z06. Dealer was talking about track suspension mode since its possible to bend a rim with the stiff suspension going over pot holes.
No quiet mode with my tune, but I'm putting down 900+ rear wheel HP. Headers, cammed, bored, new pulleys, exhaust, the whole 9 yards. But on my first wave of mods when I still had the factory exhaust, that's when we did the override for the mild to wild exhaust.
Just bought a 2017 Z51 after 500 miles I started shopping around for exhaust systems. You just changed my mind and saved me some money. Thanks broski
Cool! Yeah it gets a little louder after it breaks in too.

CarGuy11 Ok man, and thanks for the videos.
Nice Mod, I've told many of my customers about this. Thanks for sharing
+KCG Motorsports Welcome!
The 4 exhausts in the middle is so cooool
Yeah and when valves are closed for quite mode, the outside 2 are blocked.
Thought you could do this under Settings?
No even in Track mode it closes the valves at certain times as shown in the video.
What does this do to the car does it affect it
Prevents exhaust valve from closing. It’s safe to do.
Thanks for the tip! The wife noticed the difference!

Time for an upgrade :) You can find aftermarket ones louder than dual mode.
I am doing the mild to wild because you can program stealth default and change to loud using your homelink buttons
Yes lots do this.
I enjoyed your video. Thank you. Now If you can make one on how to afford a C7 in todays market. That would be awesome. 2014’s are asking $60-55k. CAD

Just got a 2014 Stingray Z51 3LT. Thanks for listing the proper fuse to pull for this model year. What a difference.
+Simon Lindsay No problem man! Thanks for watching and congrats!
He didn't. It's fuse #41 for 2014. Fuse #42 for 2015+.
I think there is a setting that will allow the loud exhaust all the time without pulling the fuse. It is in Settings, Driving Mode, Engine Sound Management, click it off. Loud all the time.

Awsome I will be trying that tonight
Cool!
Pulled fuse 41 on my 2014, didn’t notice any diff. It still closes and opens. Going to try and unplug the valves at the rear next.
Might be different fuse on 2014.
I feel like what’s more important about this “mod” is that before, when you start the engine it sounds very dull and after when you start it, it sounds much better
It will stay in Sport Mode even after you turn off so that’s how you get loud start stock.

+FOneFan Nice thanks for watching!
CarGuy11 quick question, is the 4 cylinder mode a lot louder with the fuse pull or does the secondary valves make it near silent? Hard to tell on the video

All C7 owners, read your manuals. #42 is a blank on 2019 . It is fuse 87 for the 2019 model!
Thanks for the update!
fuse 87? forsure?
Thanks man!!!
Welcome!
Hi
Thanx for a great video as usual.
I have 2 questions
1- how did you add those gauges on video ?
2- how to disable eco mode
I have 2019 z06 MT
Thanks for watching! I use TrackAddict app on phone for gauges. 4 cyl mode is disabled in all driving modes except ECO with manual. ua-cam.com/video/yIqUHl__Ric/v-deo.html
@@CarGuy11 You are the best bro. Keep posting we love your videos
Regardless of the fuse being pulled the exhaust varies... Values don't stay always Open
With the fuse pulled, the only valves that can close are the secondary values when running on 4 cyl mode.
I just removed the fuse today and wow what a difference
Great! Just but back in for a long highway trip.
If you go to sound engine management and you just have to switch it to track and it opens up the exhaust so it is at its loudest at all times
+Roman Angelo As shown in the video flaps still close at times even in Track.
Ur the man
just found out about this, any issues come out yet since this was a year ago
Nope no issues.
Hi, great video! Will this work for a base 2019 stingray 1LT with no performance exhaust option?
Thanks unfortunately no it won’t work on standard exhaust.
42. The answer to everything 😂😂😂
Have you ever driven a Z06?
+Connor Pitisci No but I need to.
I did this pull the fuse trick on a standard C7 exhaust a later on a had a code appear. Took it to GM dealer and they said the fuse also involves the emmisions system. Reinstalled fuse and no more codes.
That's because those were the 4cyl mode valves. Those will cause CEL. The dual mode valves will not.
Will you still be able to use 'stealth' mode after pulling the fuse? Worried about neighbors when parking at night

Also this works with a 2017 C7 Z51 right, mine is automatic does that change anything at all?
No warning lights only thing auto still goes in 4cyl mode so you may hear that.
@@CarGuy11 but that’s only on ECO mode im assuming right
@@CarGuy11 do I remove it with the car on or off btw?
Autos go into 4cyl in all modes. Car can be off but be sure you turn if off in Sport mode.
I wanted to do this. But the grand sport 2019 doesn’t have this...
It’s probably just a different fuse on 2019. Just look under lid to find exhaust valve fuse.
Can this be done without pulling the fuse? What about Sport mode & the engine sound management settings or is this only for Track mode purposes?
No the valves still close as shown in the video. Another option is getting a MildtoWild switch as I installed in this video. ua-cam.com/video/PYgidQ2Xke8/v-deo.html&t

Ok thanks. Good info. 👍
How do you keep the corvette logo on the screen ?
Thats with stereo off (press and hold power button). It was a 2016 change.

Our '14 has the option of a blank screen or the clock...and its a BIG clock lol!!
hello, just saw your video. What is your opinion on muffler delete instead. I am not sure which way I am going. Thank you
Wow that’s really loud. I wouldn’t because of the drone.
Thanks for reply. I am going to pull the fuse.
Great find! Will this work on the 2014 C7 with performance exhaust?
Yes but it is Fuse 41.
Yes its fuse 41
Exactly why wouldnt you want to leave the fuse out on a long highway drive?
You do get some drone on highway with flap open.
@@CarGuy11 Sorry but what do you mean by drone?

Haha yeah no one believes the valves close in Track mode.
Hey CG11 just watched a video that shows you can go into settings and set exhaust on track sound at any drive setting. Is this different than what pulling the fuse does. Doesn't look like it.
Yes, even in track mode the flaps close at certain Speed/RPM as shown in video. Only pulling the fuse keeps them open 100% of the time.
What would happen if you unplugged valves? they would stay open always?
That is what pulling the fuse does. Valves stay open always.
NOT TRUE ..... they still open and close. I want the valves to stay open always 100%
No the only valves that still close is the one for 4cyl mode. The rear valves stay open as shown in the video.
Does this fix the v8 to v4 problem?
No it will still go into V4 if you have an auto.
Hi! Do you still drive without the fuse? Any concerns about not having the fuse in the fusebox? I have a -17 GS M7.
Yes I use MildtoWild switch. No issues running no fuse. ua-cam.com/video/PYgidQ2Xke8/v-deo.html
@@CarGuy11 Thanks a lot for quick answer. Have a great day Sir!
When i removed the fuse on my z06, the car wont go in drive. I tried multiple times and it still stays in park. Do you know the problem
It may be a different fuse # on your car. Check the map on lid for correct fuse.
i have never even used eco mode
I'm confused, you said you were in Track mode, but it looked like a white T with blue background, meaning Touring mode.
You can manually select the exhaust mode in the settings menu regardless of driving mode. ua-cam.com/video/Mk1DX2M2iG8/v-deo.html
Is there a after market supercharger available yet?
+David Thomas Yes there are centrifugal & roots type available but those will definitely void your warranty lol.

Good sir, do you know why my flaps are NOT opening whenever I pull the fuse…that should default them to stay open always. I have a 2013 Grand Sport. Thank you!
It’s likely a different fuse # on the C6 so you will have to look it up.
My 2014 Z51 had Borla Attax already installed. Do they have the Fuse 42 connected as well?? Thanks
If it has a valve that opens & closes then yes.
I have a 2016 z06. Didn’t seem to do anything for me. Sounds the same as it did in track mode.
There are times the valves close even in Track mode as shown in video. It doesn’t get louder just keeps valves open all the time.
Do I get lower mpg when I'm using track mode exhaust even when I'm driving in your?
+Roman Angelo Not when you just turn sound setting to Track and not drive mode.
Good, thanks ..:)

Hey CarGuy11, in the video your Corvette symbol is on the media screen the whole time....how did you set that up?
It’s the screen when radio powered off (press and hold power button). This was a 2016 change.

i have the same car..pulled fuse sounds louder. lots of carbon on the outside tips. but nothing on the inside ones as if they are not working lol... is there another fuse or somthinf i can

That is the 4cyl mode valve only used during 4cyl operation which wouldn’t help sound. Plus you will get CEL by removing it.
CarGuy11 thanks man
Can I do this on a Corvette 1LT with out the dual mode exhaust?
Unfortunately not.
CarGuy11 thank you so much.
i have a 1LT and have dual mode exhaust? i thought all c7s come with it
I could not see a big difference. But i could in eco mode. In eco mode it just sounds like it was in sports mode.

Just bought a 2014 Z-51 3lt white red interior with 5400 miles on it was wondering if pulling fuse 42 is still safe for car for better sound?
It is. However, you need to be pulling fuse #41 for your year.
hey what will happen if you leave the fuse pulled out too long? any negatives ?
No but may want to throw fuse back in every few months to keep the exhaust valves moving so no chance of sticking.
