ciyarah eliana I know I am only 17, but birth does not have to be a scary thing!! I was at my niece’s birth and everything was sooo calm and now I have a completely new perception of birth! It is important for not only the mom, but also those around her to be educated. Be informed, be open minded, and be willing to learn. I would suggest watching home birth videos where the mother is completely in tune with her body and is educated on what is going on. When she knows what is happening, this allows her to eliminate panic and to trust that her body was made to give birth and she is capable and strong. It truly is such a beautiful thing ♥️
A lot of misconceptions. I wished I could sit and talk to you. I've been a LD nurse for 25 years. No one is the same. Epidurals are all different for everyone. Some have more amniotic fluid than others. Not everyone's break. I have 4 kids and mine never did. I wasn't upset about it. lol. You have IV's so you are getting hydrated. Most pass out just because of all they have been through. That's why we keep ammonia ready. However, Dad's pass out more lol. Actually I've been at work all day. The thing about doctors, I guarantee they know how to stitch. Not sure what happened with you. That's not the norm. Midwives I've heard can be great, but have never worked with one. Unfortunately, they aren't everywhere. I'm laughing. Love your honesty. This will help others for sure. Great video.

Guys I highlyyyy recommend that you take a childbirth course of some sort. Most of the things that you're talking about would have been covered. I did a hypnobirthing course with my first baby which was great for preparing you on what is actually happening at the different stages of labour. Being knowledgable about the whole process makes everything much less worrisome and helps you feel a little more in control.
I'm not pregnant, but I'll be sure to watch this video again when I have a family one day, Lord's willing😊 But Sutton, the head scarf is a good look on you💕

When you were talking about bleeding for so long postpartum...I feel that. I was like WHEN IS THIS GOING TO END!!! I also believe that is why I was so tired of the first few weeks of my sons life. I also had a csection so my body went through it, let me tell you! So great having my baby in my arms after the fact though! I wouldn't change this experience for the world! He is my happiness!

After experiencing all of that (2nd degree tears), not hardly being able to walk for 2 weeks after, and being clueless as to the severity of postpartum battles; my biggest struggle was my feelings of loss of dignity. I believe your honest vulnerability will help so many women. No, not everyone experiences these things BUT for those that do... this will help!💛 **& to all the comments stating 'take a birthing course', my husband and I took 3 of them. Yes they detail physical symptoms and some struggles you may have BUT it does not detail to this extent nor is it really possible to explain the mental battle women struggle with after living through these abrupt physical/emotional changes that happen with your body. AWARENESS IS ALWAYS HELPFUL!**

On guys. I will tell you this, in general when you are in active labor depending on what’s happening you don’t get water, Gatorade, etc. you get ice and that’s it. Why? Because you have a 1 in 3 chance of having a c section (33% of women in the USA end up delivering via c section) and having water and things like that can mess you up if there is a emergency. You should have been getting IV fluids the whole time. When it comes to that doctor, that’s just a bad doctor and y’all should file a formal complaint with the hospital about that. When it comes to your epidural you are NOT supposed to feel anything when it comes to pain. You are supposed to feel the pressure though. Finally, I recommend taking a child birthing class. Literally everything y’all talked about is covered in childbirth classes. For a vaginal delivery it’s standard for you to bleed for 4-6 weeks ish.
After an excruciating pregnancy at 17, I was in active labor for 44 hours, and my contractions began 40-ish seconds apart right off the bat. The night I went into the hospital there were two doctors in and they had never had that many women in the hospital in labor before something having to do with a full moon. Women were literally having babies in the hallway. I had to get my epidural three times because the anesthesiologist missed the first two times and a nurse ripped it out of my back when moving me down in my bed later that night. Well my epidural never kicked in and I felt everything. The doctor who helped me deliver gave me an episiotomy that caused a third degree year and later admitted that I never needed it. All with my first born. He is now 11 months old and I would do it all over again a hundred times for the joy that this sweet boy brings my husband and I 💛
I am currently expecting my 4th baby, I giggled so much at this remembering my first delivery. That first baby, even the second, there are a lot of unknowns, it’s a wild ride. My third delivery was completely natural, at home, and less than 45 minutes total. Crazy! My husband almost didn’t make it home from work. Never had my water break before. We’ll see with this one. He’s a pastor now, and we live right across the street from our church, so hopefully his being there in time won’t be a factor this time. Lol
It makes me sad that y'all weren't educated about these things!! I'm a nursing student so I'm still learning, but watching this video makes me wish I could help in some way!
I feel like this is the beauty of your channel. Christians tend to have a bit of a hush hush attitude toward things like sex education, lust, dating, childbirth, etc. You two are so real and educational while also being entertaining about it. I’m a L&D nurse and unfortunately everyone is so busy that they cannot time tasks for each patient with all other care givers and we are mandated to do hourly rounds, so it does end up being constant interruptions.

Where I delivered my 2nd baby they had mandatory rest time 2 times a day for mommies and daddies. You could have a nurse take baby to the nursery or have a nurse stay in your room for rest time & she cares for baby in your room while you sleep. It was WONDERFUL! Also, many women are so afraid and worried about pooping while pushing, Being a labor coach for many friends, I promise when and if that happens, It is well hidden, not mentioned and so totally natural. If it happens, we know mama is pushing the right way.

Oh Sutton, I really feel for you! Sounds like you didn’t have much information before you gave birth....maybe check out a couple of the books available for expectant mothers so you have some idea of what is ahead....of course, now that you’ve been through it, things will be different.....hopefully! When a person’s water breaks it can be a small leak or a gush (as you know!).....but like you said, everyone’s experiences are so different. I still recommend a good pregnancy book though! Wouldn’t hurt, right??!! Maybe a childbirth prep class?? Those are fun to take! I wish you all the best this time around ♥️
It's never too late to take a childbirth class! Many parents will take a class after their first, second, etc. birth. I teach classes and would love to mentor you guys if you're open! I wouldn't charge. I can recommend classes hear you depending on what is most important to you. I'm a Mama of 6 and about to graduate nursing school. Birth is my passion!

This video is actually so timely. It also describes how we give birth to God's word and promises. I know so many people who are giving birth in this season. It is not smooth sailing all the time, often it is messy and requires so much work and perseverance. But when the time comes, out births this beautiful baby. It is time to start believing, keep pushing, and to not give up!
Just wanted to share a tidbit that I learned after my 3rd pregnancy last year: every labor experience is probably going to be different. I keep thinking that I'll be certain when I'm in labor, or how things will progress once I'm in labor... but so far it's been unpredictable. Just embrace the unpredictability! Also, midwives are the best. I've had one with all three babies and I would trade them for anything. I love how personal and attentive they are. They don't just come catch the baby. They spend time with you, talk to you, help you get labor progressing, it feels like they really care. Hope your second birth is amazing and smooth!
This is all so spot on. Mine are 24 and 20 and the site of that mesh underwear still gave me the chills. I had to give up breast feeding my mastitis was so bad nothing worked. I formula fed the second one. I cried all the way home from the hospital the second time because I was so relieved that I would never have to do that again. That being said. I would do it all over again to have my boys in my life.
Oh by the way. I always told my husband. I wish he would have just one of the hardest contractions because they are unexplainable! He always said I'd just push out that baby and have it done with🤣🤣 ~the wife❤
It is a bit naive yes, but it's also good to share even stuff that can be "naive" for a first pregnant. This helps everyone at the end of the day! There is so much is not been often shared about pregnancy and childbirth. Thank you guys!

It’s the only thing that worked for me and it worked wonders. The second baby will be easier. You’re well prepared now. God Bless you both as you continue to stand for Him!

Such an honest story of childbirth and recovery. I laughed my head off!. I had my 3 children when it was all about natural childbirth. I had no epidural or pain relief of any kind. It was awful. I don't have happy memories of childbirth. But as soon as I held my baby it was all worth it. Obviously since I had 3 kids. Prayers for an uneventful experience the next time and a healthy mommy & baby!
Hi! Thanks for sharing your experience with us. With the epidural & still feeling pain on one side, it usually means you need to change positions because the medication has accumulated on one side and it needs to be dispersed equally. Bleeding for 5-6 weeks postpartum is totally normal, however there’s 3 different types of bleeding. The first few day-week are more red and like period blood, then the second week should be more pinkish brown dried blood and then the last 3-4ish weeks are more like discharge. And you still look pregnant after delivery because your uterus has stretched to accommodate a baby and now has to shrink down. Usually your uterus stretches to about 40 inches above your pubic bone by the time of deliver and it typically shrinks an inch per day after delivery so you’ll still have a pooch for some weeks :)
So many things you had to experience without preparation. Is that normal in the US? In Germany we have special courses to be prepared. After birth the Uterus (normally 80g) still weighs 1 kg (only muscle!). No wonder you are not slim as before. The wound left by the placenta is about the size of a pancake - so you bleed until it is healed - normally up to 6 weeks and this is the time a "newborn mom" needs a lot of rest! On the epidural, you could still feel one side because you were laying on the opposite side. When you get your next epidural, rotate sides, ten minutes laying on left side, ten minutes laying the right side, flipping back and forth for the initial dose and see if that helps. also, sitting straight up is what causes your butt and legs to get more numb than anything else, so, try to lay flatter, but not so flat that the numbness crawls further up your chest, because you don't want that. God Bless you and your upcoming labor, if you haven't had the baby yet, if so, I hope you're getting plenty of rest.
One thing I didn't know having babies is that not every breast feeding experience is the same. I too got mastitis for my first baby, but could nurse with no problems my second through fitfh baby. Hope all goes well with your second labor. Blessings!
Oh dear Sutton, listening to your story just makes me feel so much for American mothers! Childbirth can be so much more gentle and less traumatic on the body and mind. All those negatives were a result of the unnatural ways American hospitals expect women to give birth and then even the mastitis from being away from your baby is because that’s not natural. I encourage all expectant mothers to research more natural birth strategies and learn as much as they can about how birth works so they can be confident in birth.
Hi guys! Love the way y’all look at each other... so sweet! Two things to help the second time around: Preregistration at the hospital saves time and aggravation at the beginning of labor; also you can ask your doctor to give you a shot to help dry up your milk when you’re ready to wean. Well, actually that second one was how it was when I had babies, so maybe things have changed. But no one told me that before I weaned and I sure wish I’d have known! God bless y’all...

For my first delivery, I had to be induced due to high blood pressure. I regretted declining the epidural offer earlier on! My labor lasted so long (due to the fact that my body was not ready and needed to be induced) The epidural wore off and I needed to have the needle repositioned. Yay! Fortunately, things progressed smoother with my second delivery!
Yep. Completely understand. I had my first baby at 40yrs. I was not told anything either. When my baby pooped out the green n black stuff I was in shock. A lot of my hair fail out as well. At least there was no morning sickness for me. I will be praying for you 🙏🏾.

I was in Kroger shopping, a week past my due date. I had on a brown corduroy jumper down past my knees. I was so big at the end I couldn't wear underwear! I'm pushing the cart past the bread aisle and I felt this weird thing down my leg. I stopped and looked down since it was now at my ankle and it was my mucous plug! It went into my sandal and kinda slid back out, I flung it off my foot and left my cart and straight home. Had a baby boy..11.15 ounces 23 inches ! That will be forty years ago in a few months! I was 20 years old! Some memories seem like yesterday!
I am really surprised...don't you guys have a docter or a midwife who tells you all the stuff about being pregnant? And all the things that goes along with it? Maybe reading some books about it or asking youre mom, friend or realitive? Here in the Netherlands you visit every month and later on every week a midwife and they also come at youre house to check if things are save, and that you have enough stuff like clothes and bottles and so on. And you can call them any time..it is good that you make this video, it is comforting and also reasuring for those who never had a child...but still, I'm confused about the lack of information about getting a child. I had a horrible experience with my 1st. Thankfully no embarrassing public gush when my waters went but all in all a pretty traumatic experience from beginning to end. I was pregnant again when my 1st was 6 months old and my labour and recovery with my second was AMAZING! So much easier. Even the midwives commented on how easy it was afterwards. We now have 4 kids and my 2nd labour was by far the best. Praying you have a great birth experience 2nd time round. 🙏
Hey Guys, I really think knowledge is power when it comes to birthing! Lots of books out there and courses to do and you are highlighting the importance of research before this life changing event. Gosh your hospital sounds so archaic and I pray for a gentle and care filled experience for your next birth. Any book by Ina May Gaskin is brilliant and there is an amazing Christian book called “supernatural childbirth” that’s worth reading for prayer surrounding birth etc Blessings and thanks to you guys for sharing always!
Oh Sutton, i feel ya.....we started out at the hospital without my midwife, and it was rough but after he got there it was so much better!!!! He saw i was about to tear so he cut me, he said recovering is so much faster and easier with a cut versus a tear. Also T.M.I but one thing i was 100% not prepared for was, with the epidural having a bowel movement.🤦♀️🤷♀️🤣🤣🤣 With my epidural i was completely pain free....thank God!!! My pain tolerance is not high at all, so i was able to function so much better after that!!!
Rachel Whitehead That’s interesting as I’ve heard it’s way easier to heal from a natural cut then from a tear the doctors make. Most hospitals have discontinued the use of episiotomies because of this.
Hello Nate and Sutton! I'm a doctor and I'm sorry about how exhausting the experience was for you. However try to consciously educate yourself more about childbirth even before the baby comes. This way,you are more prepared because most of the things mentioned is information that could be obtained earlier. As for sewing up following a tear, I do believe a lot of doctors do a good job. However, wound breakdown can occur due to a number of reasons apart from the doctors expertise eg infection, no sitz baths etc. I hope your next experience will be much better. Much love!!

I'm the oldest of five, and my mom's had home births with all of my siblings... I'm going into motherhood someday with too much information. xD Thanks for sharing your experience! Childbirth really isn't discussed today about single women, and I know that many women today aren't really prepared, but it's so much better to go into with your eyes open. It's awesome to have an open discussion about it while also realizing children are a blessing. :)
Aww! I was born at Northeast Georgia Medical Center... 39 years ago. I’m sure things have changed a bit since then... 😉😉 Childbirth is a glorious, humbling, challenging experience. Whew. I was the same kind of naive new mama. As the little maid said in Gone with the wind...”I don’t know beans about birthin no babies.” 🤣
My kids are 7.5 years apart and can I tell you that I had forgotten EVERYTHING by the time I had my youngest! Rocked. My. World. I’m just glad he started sleeping all night at 6 weeks! The Lord clearly knew I wasn’t designed to go much further on 3-4 non consecutive hrs of sleep out of every 24 hrs 😂 They had to break my water for me both times with what looks like an over sized crochet hook...that was ummm fun. And as far as epidurals go...my first one had me so numb I didn’t know I had legs til the next day. The second one however...I felt a lot more than I wanted to!
I'm blessed to be able to say i actually already knew most of this stuff, even though i'm not a mom and i'm single! I was at the hospital with my mom when she had her last 3 babies. I've learned a lot! I also don't want to have mine at a hospital if at all possible!😂
@@lynnjoellegardner10 your mom is amazing!! One of my brothers was born at home, but everyone else was born in a hospital, and myself and another brother were c sections. My mom avoided epidurals as much as she could, especially because they didn't always work right.
I never had an Epidural BOTH times. I asked for it both times and they took their sweet time and I had both babies totally Naturally. Not fun! But what a gift these babies are!! Did you go through Lamaze? They usually go over a lot in that class and also, I had the book "What to expect when you are expecting". The bleeding sounds a bit much. I am assuming you asked the Drs about it? My niece started bleeding out and it was a touch and go experience. They have pads to put in your bra in case you "let down" when you were ready to nurse. Not sure if anyone told you, but the action of the baby Sucking is what brings in the milk 24 hrs later. I was lucky and only got Mastitus once. But Nursing was such a pleasure for me. My son nursed and refused anything other than me. He nursed for 14 months. My daughter, my second child, did not enjoy nursing like me son did and she cut me off at about 6 months. Each baby is so different. (Also, you cannot spoil a baby. The extra attention gives them a sense of security and helps them to grow into independent , secure adults. My son was an especially high need since he had his first 3 months. I nursed him for 45 minutes every 2 hrs. We were inseparable. But I LOVED every minute nursing him. He actually used his arm under him that went to my back and massaged me. It was so sweet. The best pads are the Kotex Extra long over nights. The regular ones felt like a rock to me since they stopped at the incision site and were very painful. No one told me about this until I called the hospital. Nursing also helps your uterus contract and shrink to give you your body back. ;-)

😂😅 Had a lot of those surprises myself with my first one. I am 28 weeks pregnant now, so we are very close. Except this is my 7th baby, just a tip for afterwards bleeding, take care of your self 2 first weeks, like nothing heavier in your hand than baby, no car seat, no Oakland, don't be too much on your feet, just get lots of rest and do only what you just have to do, it's hard but it's worth it, it will pay you at the end. You will be bleeding a lot less and will recover quicker, saying it from experience. With my first one I bleed for 6 weeks and thought that it's probably normal. Another thing what I felt leads to more bleeding is taking pain meds, cuz you don't feel your body hurting and end up overworking. Like I would get into kitchen making food and stuff, and you try to do that with out a pain killer 😳 Your body will tell you how much you can do in first 2 weeks and it's very little and limited, basically feed your self and your baby and change your self and baby! Good luck to you this time, it will go definitely smoother since you know what to expect. Makes me more thankful for our healthcare and medical system in Canada. I’m a mom of two boys and each delivery was very different. The only thing I didn’t know about delivery or what I was not told, is the potential clots in the post partum period,and when I laughed after delivering, It felt like my insides were going to fall out. ;-)

When you were talking about bleeding for so long postpartum...I feel that. I was like WHEN IS THIS GOING TO END!!! I also believe that is why I was so tired of the first few weeks of my sons life. I also had a csection so my body went through it, let me tell you! So great having my baby in my arms after the fact though! I wouldn't change this experience for the world! He is my happiness!

I am like you! I am pregnant and have been researching like crazy.
On guys. I will tell you this, in general when you are in active labor depending on what’s happening you don’t get water, Gatorade, etc. you get ice and that’s it. Why? Because you have a 1 in 3 chance of having a c section (33% of women in the USA end up delivering via c section) and having water and things like that can mess you up if there is a emergency. You should have been getting IV fluids the whole time.
When it comes to that doctor, that’s just a bad doctor and y’all should file a formal complaint with the hospital about that.
When it comes to your epidural you are NOT supposed to feel anything when it comes to pain. You are supposed to feel the pressure though.
Finally, I recommend taking a child birthing class. Literally everything y’all talked about is covered in childbirth classes. For a vaginal delivery it’s standard for you to bleed for 4-6 weeks ish.

After an excruciating pregnancy at 17, I was in active labor for 44 hours, and my contractions began 40-ish seconds apart right off the bat. The night I went into the hospital there were two doctors in and they had never had that many women in the hospital in labor before something having to do with a full moon. Women were literally having babies in the hallway. I had to get my epidural three times because the anesthesiologist missed the first two times and a nurse ripped it out of my back when moving me down in my bed later that night. Well my epidural never kicked in and I felt everything. The doctor who helped me deliver gave me an episiotomy that caused a third degree year and later admitted that I never needed it. All with my first born. He is now 11 months old and I would do it all over again a hundred times for the joy that this sweet boy brings my husband and I 💛
I am currently expecting my 4th baby, I giggled so much at this remembering my first delivery. That first baby, even the second, there are a lot of unknowns, it’s a wild ride. My third delivery was completely natural, at home, and less than 45 minutes total. Crazy! My husband almost didn’t make it home from work. Never had my water break before. We’ll see with this one. He’s a pastor now, and we live right across the street from our church, so hopefully his being there in time won’t be a factor this time. Lol

I’m a L&D nurse and unfortunately everyone is so busy that they cannot time tasks for each patient with all other care givers and we are mandated to do hourly rounds, so it does end up being constant interruptions.

Where I delivered my 2nd baby they had mandatory rest time 2 times a day for mommies and daddies. You could have a nurse take baby to the nursery or have a nurse stay in your room for rest time & she cares for baby in your room while you sleep. It was WONDERFUL!
Also, many women are so afraid and worried about pooping while pushing, Being a labor coach for many friends, I promise when and if that happens, It is well hidden, not mentioned and so totally natural. If it happens, we know mama is pushing the right way.

Oh Sutton, I really feel for you! Sounds like you didn’t have much information before you gave birth....maybe check out a couple of the books available for expectant mothers so you have some idea of what is ahead....of course, now that you’ve been through it, things will be different.....hopefully! When a person’s water breaks it can be a small leak or a gush (as you know!).....but like you said, everyone’s experiences are so different. I still recommend a good pregnancy book though! Wouldn’t hurt, right??!! Maybe a childbirth prep class?? Those are fun to take! I wish you all the best this time around ♥️
It's never too late to take a childbirth class! Many parents will take a class after their first, second, etc. birth. I teach classes and would love to mentor you guys if you're open! I wouldn't charge. I can recommend classes hear you depending on what is most important to you. I'm a Mama of 6 and about to graduate nursing school. Birth is my passion!

This video is actually so timely. It also describes how we give birth to God's word and promises. I know so many people who are giving birth in this season. It is not smooth sailing all the time, often it is messy and requires so much work and perseverance. But when the time comes, out births this beautiful baby. It is time to start believing, keep pushing, and to not give up!
Just wanted to share a tidbit that I learned after my 3rd pregnancy last year: every labor experience is probably going to be different. I keep thinking that I'll be certain when I'm in labor, or how things will progress once I'm in labor... but so far it's been unpredictable. Just embrace the unpredictability! Also, midwives are the best. I've had one with all three babies and I would trade them for anything. I love how personal and attentive they are. They don't just come catch the baby. They spend time with you, talk to you, help you get labor progressing, it feels like they really care. Hope your second birth is amazing and smooth!
This is all so spot on. Mine are 24 and 20 and the site of that mesh underwear still gave me the chills. I had to give up breast feeding my mastitis was so bad nothing worked. I formula fed the second one. I cried all the way home from the hospital the second time because I was so relieved that I would never have to do that again. That being said. I would do it all over again to have my boys in my life.
Oh by the way. I always told my husband. I wish he would have just one of the hardest contractions because they are unexplainable! He always said I'd just push out that baby and have it done with🤣🤣

Such an honest story of childbirth and recovery. I laughed my head off!. I had my 3 children when it was all about natural childbirth. I had no epidural or pain relief of any kind. It was awful. I don't have happy memories of childbirth. But as soon as I held my baby it was all worth it. Obviously since I had 3 kids. Prayers for an uneventful experience the next time and a healthy mommy & baby!
Hi! Thanks for sharing your experience with us. With the epidural & still feeling pain on one side, it usually means you need to change positions because the medication has accumulated on one side and it needs to be dispersed equally. Bleeding for 5-6 weeks postpartum is totally normal, however there’s 3 different types of bleeding. The first few day-week are more red and like period blood, then the second week should be more pinkish brown dried blood and then the last 3-4ish weeks are more like discharge. And you still look pregnant after delivery because your uterus has stretched to accommodate a baby and now has to shrink down. Usually your uterus stretches to about 40 inches above your pubic bone by the time of deliver and it typically shrinks an inch per day after delivery so you’ll still have a pooch for some weeks :)
So many things you had to experience without preparation. Is that normal in the US? In Germany we have special courses to be prepared. After birth the Uterus (normally 80g) still weighs 1 kg (only muscle!). No wonder you are not slim as before. The wound left by the placenta is about the size of a pancake - so you bleed until it is healed - normally up to 6 weeks and this is the time a "newborn mom" needs a lot of rest! Wish you all the best for the next one! Be blessed.
On the epidural, you could still feel one side because you were laying on the opposite side. When you get your next epidural, rotate sides, ten minutes laying on left side, ten minutes laying the right side, flipping back and forth for the initial dose and see if that helps. also, sitting straight up is what causes your butt and legs to get more numb than anything else, so, try to lay flatter, but not so flat that the numbness crawls further up your chest, because you don't want that. God Bless you and your upcoming labor, if you haven't had the baby yet, if so, I hope you're getting plenty of rest.
One thing I didn't know having babies is that not every breast feeding experience is the same. I too got mastitis for my first baby, but could nurse with no problems my second through fitfh baby. Hope all goes well with your second labor. Blessings!
Oh dear Sutton, listening to your story just makes me feel so much for American mothers! Childbirth can be so much more gentle and less traumatic on the body and mind. All those negatives were a result of the unnatural ways American hospitals expect women to give birth and then even the mastitis from being away from your baby is because that’s not natural. I encourage all expectant mothers to research more natural birth strategies and learn as much as they can about how birth works so they can be confident in birth.
Medical interventions save lives of both mothers and babies, we are extremely lucky to have access to medical care in western countries.

Two things to help the second time around: Preregistration at the hospital saves time and aggravation at the beginning of labor; also you can ask your doctor to give you a shot to help dry up your milk when you’re ready to wean. Well, actually that second one was how it was when I had babies, so maybe things have changed. But no one told me that before I weaned and I sure wish I’d have known! God bless y’all...

For my first delivery, I had to be induced due to high blood pressure. I regretted declining the epidural offer earlier on! My labor lasted so long (due to the fact that my body was not ready and needed to be induced) The epidural wore off and I needed to have the needle repositioned. Yay! Fortunately, things progressed smoother with my second delivery!
Yep. Completely understand. I had my first baby at 40yrs. I was not told anything either. When my baby pooped out the green n black stuff I was in shock. A lot of my hair fail out as well. At least there was no morning sickness for me. I will be praying for you 🙏🏾.

I was in Kroger shopping, a week past my due date. I had on a brown corduroy jumper down past my knees. I was so big at the end I couldn't wear underwear! I'm pushing the cart past the bread aisle and I felt this weird thing down my leg. I stopped and looked down since it was now at my ankle and it was my mucous plug! It went into my sandal and kinda slid back out, I flung it off my foot and left my cart and straight home. Had a baby boy..11.15 ounces 23 inches ! That will be forty years ago in a few months! I was 20 years old! Some memories seem like yesterday!

Here in the Netherlands you visit every month and later on every week a midwife and they also come at youre house to check if things are save, and that you have enough stuff like clothes and bottles and so on. And you can call them any time..it is good that you make this video, it is comforting and also reasuring for those who never had a child...but still, I'm confused about the lack of information about getting a child. I had a horrible experience with my 1st. Thankfully no embarrassing public gush when my waters went but all in all a pretty traumatic experience from beginning to end. I was pregnant again when my 1st was 6 months old and my labour and recovery with my second was AMAZING! So much easier. Even the midwives commented on how easy it was afterwards. We now have 4 kids and my 2nd labour was by far the best. Praying you have a great birth experience 2nd time round. 🙏

Oh Sutton, i feel ya.....we started out at the hospital without my midwife, and it was rough but after he got there it was so much better!!!! He saw i was about to tear so he cut me, he said recovering is so much faster and easier with a cut versus a tear.
Also T.M.I but one thing i was 100% not prepared for was, with the epidural having a bowel movement.🤦♀️🤷♀️🤣🤣🤣
With my epidural i was completely pain free....thank God!!! My pain tolerance is not high at all, so i was able to function so much better after that!!!
Rachel Whitehead That’s interesting as I’ve heard it’s way easier to heal from a natural cut then from a tear the doctors make. Most hospitals have discontinued the use of episiotomies because of this.

Hello Nate and Sutton! I'm a doctor and I'm sorry about how exhausting the experience was for you.
However try to consciously educate yourself more about childbirth even before the baby comes. This way,you are more prepared because most of the things mentioned is information that could be obtained earlier.
As for sewing up following a tear, I do believe a lot of doctors do a good job. However, wound breakdown can occur due to a number of reasons apart from the doctors expertise eg infection, no sitz baths etc.
I hope your next experience will be much better.

I'm the oldest of five, and my mom's had home births with all of my siblings... I'm going into motherhood someday with too much information. xD Thanks for sharing your experience! Childbirth really isn't discussed today about single women, and I know that many women today aren't really prepared, but it's so much better to go into with your eyes open. It's awesome to have an open discussion about it while also realizing children are a blessing. :)

Childbirth is a glorious, humbling, challenging experience. Whew. I was the same kind of naive new mama. As the little maid said in Gone with the wind...”I don’t know beans about birthin no babies.” 🤣
My kids are 7.5 years apart and can I tell you that I had forgotten EVERYTHING by the time I had my youngest! Rocked. My. World. I’m just glad he started sleeping all night at 6 weeks! The Lord clearly knew I wasn’t designed to go much further on 3-4 non consecutive hrs of sleep out of every 24 hrs 😂 They had to break my water for me both times with what looks like an over sized crochet hook...that was ummm fun. And as far as epidurals go...my first one had me so numb I didn’t know I had legs til the next day. The second one however...I felt a lot more than I wanted to!
I'm blessed to be able to say i actually already knew most of this stuff, even though i'm not a mom and i'm single! I was at the hospital with my mom when she had her last 3 babies. I've learned a lot! I also don't want to have mine at a hospital if at all possible!😂

@@lynnjoellegardner10 your mom is amazing!! One of my brothers was born at home, but everyone else was born in a hospital, and myself and another brother were c sections. My mom avoided epidurals as much as she could, especially because they didn't always work right.
I never had an Epidural BOTH times. I asked for it both times and they took their sweet time and I had both babies totally Naturally. Not fun! But what a gift these babies are!! Did you go through Lamaze? They usually go over a lot in that class and also, I had the book "What to expect when you are expecting". The bleeding sounds a bit much. I am assuming you asked the Drs about it? My niece started bleeding out and it was a touch and go experience. They have pads to put in your bra in case you "let down" when you were ready to nurse. Not sure if anyone told you, but the action of the baby Sucking is what brings in the milk 24 hrs later. I was lucky and only got Mastitus once. But Nursing was such a pleasure for me. My son nursed and refused anything other than me. He nursed for 14 months. My daughter, my second child, did not enjoy nursing like me son did and she cut me off at about 6 months. Each baby is so different. (Also, you cannot spoil a baby. The extra attention gives them a sense of security and helps them to grow into independent , secure adults. My son was an especially high need since he had his first 3 months. I nursed him for 45 minutes every 2 hrs. We were inseparable. But I LOVED every minute nursing him. He actually used his arm under him that went to my back and massaged me. It was so sweet. The best pads are the Kotex Extra long over nights. The regular ones felt like a rock to me since they stopped at the incision site and were very painful. No one told me about this until I called the hospital. Nursing also helps your uterus contract and shrink to give you your body back. ;-)

😂😅 Had a lot of those surprises myself with my first one. I am 28 weeks pregnant now, so we are very close. Except this is my 7th baby, just a tip for afterwards bleeding, take care of your self 2 first weeks, like nothing heavier in your hand than baby, no car seat, no Oakland, don't be too much on your feet, just get lots of rest and do only what you just have to do, it's hard but it's worth it, it will pay you at the end. You will be bleeding a lot less and will recover quicker, saying it from experience. With my first one I bleed for 6 weeks and thought that it's probably normal. Another thing what I felt leads to more bleeding is taking pain meds, cuz you don't feel your body hurting and end up overworking. Like I would get into kitchen making food and stuff, and you try to do that with out a pain killer 😳 Your body will tell you how much you can do in first 2 weeks and it's very little and limited, basically feed your self and your baby and change your self and baby! Makes me more thankful for our healthcare and medical system in Canada. I’m a mom of two boys and each delivery was very different. The only thing I didn’t know about delivery or what I was not told, is the potential clots in the post partum period,and when I laughed after delivering, It felt like my insides were going to fall out. ;-)
