Thanks The Outback Fisherman! I always get them when I go live bait fishing but usually on bait using sabiki jigs. Always a fun time when you get multiple in one go!
Nice vid shroom! Indeed ajing is a ton of fun but I just want to point out that especially when the water is a little rougher and we’re using such light lures, polyester line would be preferred (examples would be 34 pinky or aji no ito nightblue) since polyester is more dense than braid and will help these light lures sink faster. Overall, great vid!
Actually really good man, I enjoy the longer vids of you exploring doing new things and this was perfect. Keep up the adventures try new things I'm always here with ya brø live soon!
Thanks as always Jorre! That's what makes fishing special. You can take it whereever you want if you have the thirst for adventure. Thanks for sticking with me and this video did come out late because of the extra hours required but it's worth it. I hope you are doing well too and I'm here for you if you need more content lol
Thanks a lot Ian! I get the odd one sometimes fishing normal plastics but it's far and few between catches. Ajing is big in Japan, and it's bit too specialised to become mainstream here but it's certainly something different and fun!
Mate, good video to watch. Way too much fun ! I've seen a few videos lately now of people fishing in the harbour there. Must say, it's good to see so many squid, bream, tailor, kingfish, jewies etc being caught. The water must be in good nick. Well done NSW Fisheries i think. Keep the action coming. Cheers.
I caught a 40 c/m yakka yesterday on a pumpkin seed gulp so I guess the bigger the lure the bigger the yakka but for bait the small ones are much better Awsome vid can’t wait for the next 🤩
Would love to see a video of you setting up your gear like what line you using braid or mono , when you use braid how to tie your fluoro trace and how long to leave it, Also wouldn't mind seeing you trying live baits
+1 subscriber, great videos man! would love too see some education/ how to guides!!! will be looking at live bait fishing after watching alot of your videos and test the waters in smaller areas myself!
Caught a massive bream a couple days ago at that Anzac bridge spot, should’ve taken a pic for u. The light rail replacement bus was such a pain tho, had to walk to lilyfield to catch it
Haha finally Pete. How addictive is ajing hey?! Before you know it, it's 2am and you're still trying to crack that elusive metery yakka 😂 At some spots there's usually some big ones down there which I know for a fact, but catching them on a micro soft plastic is a different story lol
Dont worry mate ive been even more exited to catch a yakka, because one day we had no kingfish bait but then i caught a yakka and i was so happy qnd everyone was laughing 😅
Haha, it's really exciting for sure and people watching can't understand why. It might make me do some more baitfishing if the gathering is a session in itself lol
Hey Shroom! Love the video, and I love seeing how Ajing is starting to gain popularity in Australia as well! Is there a certain season for the yakkas, or are they readily available all year round there in sydney?
Very relaxing video watching you catch lots of yakkas I think I caught a few on little pieces of bait and they make good bait for big fish When I first caught one it was quite big so I thought it was some kind of trevally.
Hey shroom can you catch kingfish with a jewfish bottom rig, a running sinker to a swivel and leader to hook? And also, is live yakka better or butterflied yakka?
Hi Shroom, thank you for sharing. I’m going to buy this ajing rod. However, the 510 model is out of stock. Do you think 55ul would be not easy for cast for distance?
I’d wait and get the one you want. If there’s anything I’ve learnt about buying fishing gear, is to either feel both rods or you’ll end up buying both in the end. The 55ul will fish completely different to the 510, not in a bad way but it’s strengths and weaknesses
Those ajing lures work like gold hey, got some from iso fishing lifestyle, was going for yakkas and they got smashed my tailor coz they look like little white bait
They have a shop in Eastwood and a shop in croydon park but the shop in Eastwood is rather small don’t have as much variety as the shop in croydon park
Hey Shroomy! That’s a great krill or baitfish lookalike. Bet it works on larger pelagics when they are eating those tiny baitfish and won’t touch anything else. Even Sabiki jigs most times need fresh bait to work which defeats the purpose, this could be a good alternative. Where do you buy them from? Pound for pound Yakkas are like Kingies hey! Great vid 👌
Peter, that's a good idea. I was thinking about using it as bream plastic but of course, the perfect application would be salmon and kings when they are feeding on the tiny stuff! These are from Isofishingsydney and those yakkas turn it on on the light stuff! Thank you! 👍
Do you mean service Raymund? Sometimes I service the line roller, drag and handle knob myself etc., but otherwise I don't send it in unless it's noticeably deteriorated
Yep, most wharves allow for fishing (some with time restrictions etc.,) so mostly you can so long as you don't interfere with the operation of ferries. There are a few wharves that we cannot fish at anymore and we can lose access to these public spaces if we don't look after it and start causing trouble (noise, litter etc.).
Or you can use a 6 pound hand line with pilchard strip bait and berley, bag out in 10 minutes and catch real fish. That’s over-thinking mate. It’s a bait fish.
True that Martin, that's what I usually do. When I go for kings, no mucking around, it's about filling the tank as quick as possible with squid and yakkas. I did this for entertainment and it was surprisingly fun and not too bad either!
@@ShroomFishing nice shroom bro should try out a zerik zapplin 90m there 7g and work awesome on the jew been getting them on them at home walking tge edge give em a go were you fish

Thanks The Outback Fisherman! I always get them when I go live bait fishing but usually on bait using sabiki jigs. Always a fun time when you get multiple in one go!
Always love to see something different. Would love to see a nice Botany Bay/ kingy vid soon 👌🏼🤙🏼

Thanks for the comment! I'd use mono like the people I was fishing with but I don't have a dedicated combo/reel for it just yet!
great vlog Shroom brings back memories as a kid using handlines on wharfs catching yakka's well done buddy, I'm sticking around
Thanks John, sticking better than the yakkas to my hooks haha. Yeah, it's such a nice way to spend some time at a wharf

shroom top video, it looks like your gopro might have a dead pixel, check out 1:40 above the soft plastic in the black background/distance
Thanks Alex, I'll have a look and check it out. It's actually on my expensive camera so that could be problem
Fantastic video Shroom !
I have never heard of a yakka being caught on a soft plastic before today
