Are you sure the 2nd last fish was a Koi? Is it possible for European carp to have colour like that? Or maybe it was a hybrid as the 2 species are very closely related.
Well done @Shroom! Such a great idea to fish both fresh and salt water in the one session. I've never caught a Bass before, so I was really interested to see your capture on the cicada!
Thanks Alf! It’s getting into bass season now and surface presentations are coming into their own at the moment. A lot of pausing and finessing still required to get the bite!

Perfect video mate, i have a carp comp on tomorrow. I have never fished for them before and you have given me some tips to start with.
Try garden earthworms, and or sweet corn for bait.

My first one ever Alf! I’ve seen my friends pull them up out of different places and usually it’s a hit rate of something like 1 in 50 or lower so very rare for me
Well done shroomster.....that's a good area to fish. There would be some river donkey's in both sides. Brackish, does not surprise if a big flatty is sitting there, like bream and greedy tailor, they tolerate dirty water.
If that's a koi from the fresh, more than likely someone had released it in there. There's probably a few gold fish as well. That fresh section, I've caught bream in the fresh as well, a d bass, carp, eels, a good old garden earthworms do for great bait.

Cicadas are good, my favourite is the tiny and nano siglett, the Smaller lure seems to get the bite even on the big fish, on light leader it's flutter is second to none
The best topwater I have ever used is the Japanese made topwater dragonfly
But my favourite is skip casting frog plastics by far, it's so addictive
Here comes the carp, that's the best way for carp nothing but a hook and bait

Koi I put back carp get the pest treatment, koi don't seem to breed in the waterways like the general carp
But still in saying that I only put koi back in closed dams or waterways

Nice, nothing beats a surface smash when it’s all quiet especially at night when there isn’t much noise. I’ve yet to try a frog, these bass are quite smart and finicky. That koi made my night! Such a beauty 🤩

Thanks Tin! I’m sure you’ll get one if you keep trying. I just keep it simple with bread and a small hook although I use to fish for carp twice a week and have caught hundreds. Nothing simpler than squeezing a ball of it on a hook and waiting

40 years ago used to fish the freshwater area you were fishing always lots of carp and eels never bass well done mate. The salt water part was always just mullet (no wharf way back then)
Wow I didn’t know that Matt, these days bass is common there and good size ones too! Mullet on either side and now the salt has everything including tailor right up against it

I’ll look into squid toelicker I actually had a challenge video I had to can because things changed and I couldn’t finish it . It’s all close by every spot in this video 👍
Shroom would you do a Mullet challenge? (The fish NOT the haircut) After seeing huge schools of mullet in that area I turned up with the blackfish rod but couldn't seem to catch one.

what pe line and rating do you have on the exist. im going to get a poison adrena 267ML and a 2000D exist with pe 0.6. Which exist 2000 do you have and which braid should i use on the 2000D
0.6PE 6lb. Choose a braid you like at that thickness and it’ll be fine. I’m using Kairiki 8 atm in 6lb

Of all the fishes in the sea, I'd rather be a bass. Then I can climb up tall seaweed trees and slide down on my........hands and knees! I've never seen a koi caught before, that's a rare first! 🎣

It’s hard to say Ibrahim, this was my very first koi but I have seen mates catch them. They are not common, maybe 1 in every 50 carp sort of rarity 👍

Haha my nose 👃 was on point! 🤣 the carp one was a Silstar crystal blue (not crystal tip) it’s a really good bait fishing rod imo for bream and carp. 3-5kg 6’6”

What's the law in regards to invasive species? Shouldn't they be destroyed?
The law encourages people to dispatch of invasive species but allows people to have the option to release them back into the waters they caught it from. So you can't just catch a carp and then take it to the ocean and livebait it or something etc., but you can release them back into the same spot you just caught it
