I tore my acl feb.1st and got a blood clot 2 days later in the same leg so I’m currently taking blood thinners for the next 2 months 😩 so until I’m off those I can’t have surgery! I’m also undecided on which surgery I’m going to do. Patellar or cadaver... your videos give me hope though!

autum lyons I’m so sorry to hear that! That’s terrible. I was in the hospital last week for risk of blood clot in my surgery leg (though it thankfully turned out not to be one). I wish you well and for everything to go smoothly. The decision between patellar and cadaver is one to talk with your surgeon about but I’ve heard patellar definitely hurts worse in recovery. Good luck girl!

Hannah Parrish I know right. I'm just stressed about the recovering. you really don't know how much you take your mobility for granted until you lose the ability to walk... I'm down to one crutch but its still a bitch to get around and I can't put too much weight on my leg yet

I totally understand. I didn't realize how much of a blessing two pain-free legs are. To be honest though, the recovery has gone by so fast. I was down to one crutch by two weeks and off completely by three weeks. My friends forget now that I even had the surgery because everything is feeling so normal now. Take PT super seriously and be patient, and healing will be fast. I know it's so frustrating.

I tore my ACL on Dec 19 and have surgery Jan 15. I noticed you had surgery on your right leg and I will too. I was wondering about how long after surgery could you start driving again?

Good luck! I can't remember exactly, but I think it was a little over 2 weeks and I started driving.

Hello Hannah, you really didn't talk about the first few days after surgery, and that's what i'm really worried about after my surgery.. i'm having ACL reconstruction on thursday, and tbh im pretty stressed about the whole 6-12 months thing ...

Hi! Good luck with your surgery. To be quite honest, the first few days (4-5) were the hardest. Stay on top of elevation, ice, pain medication, and the CPM if you have it. Once you start getting some energy back it is helpful to be up for a little at time to get blood moving through your leg. After the first few days I started feeling so much better, and by 10 days out I was feeling a lot like myself again. The long recovery time is frustrating and I've had to be super patient with myself, but slowly I've been getting stronger and healing up! I hope all goes well.

Mine was made from a hamstring graft! I healed in stages-- I could walk normally after about 8 weeks and then slowly could run and workout more through the year.
