    Thank you. The leds on the control panel aren't working anymore on my smoker. I use this video to set the temp and time without any visual feedback. Just press 120 times on temp up button to get to 220F and then 17 times on time up to get to 17 hours, then time twice and all set!

    I wouldn’t use foil to cover the bottom tray until after seasoning it. The point is to burn off chemicals

    I bought the one with the glass door. The glass is a waste of money cause it gets filthy and you can’t the the meat anyway.Buy the 40 too. My 30 works good but is too small for a large brisket .Thank You for your video

    Thanks for the great video! I'm assembling my new MES 130S smoker and it is the same as this one but has a window and a little different type of racks. The video on Masterbuilt's You Tube channel is not as helpful as yours. Theirs covers a different model. Thanks!

  • @ryankeith5139

    Thanks for posting. I was just given this smoker as well and have no idea what to do. Read the instructions and certainly easier seeing these visuals. When seasoning it didn't look like you were putting much chips in. Is that the same amount of chips you load each time when cooking?

    • @AlenKwong
      @AlenKwong  5 років тому +2

      Ryan Keith you can put a bit more than what I did, just don’t put too much as you would not be able to rotate the handle. If the burn rate is too fast (as you stop seeing smoke coming out), you can add every 45min instead of every hour.

    I just got one of these and seasoned it tonight, but afterwards I noticed wood chips/ash on the electric coils. Does that usually happen? Wondering if I turned the thing to aggressively or had too many chips in there and they fell out accidentally? Thanks for any advice from anyone!

    Do you add meat first then turn on to heat up with wood chips? Or you get to temp then add meat and wood chips?

    • @AlenKwong
      @AlenKwong  Рік тому +1

      You turn on and get it up to the set temperature. When it's ready you can add the meat and then add the wood chips so that when the chips burn it'll add the smoke. Without the wood chips it'll be more like a slow cooker at your desired temp.

    Just got one of these for Fathers Day. Mine is on a stand though. Going to season it tomorrow morning. How do you like it so far?

    • @AlenKwong
      @AlenKwong  5 років тому +2

      Traveling Noble it’s been great. I got the Masterbuilt stand for it with wheels so it’s easier to move around. I’ve done some brisket and ribs, temperature holds well. Just remember to keep feeding the wood chips in because they do empty out within an hour each time. Clean up is easy when you foil the water pan, I just drain the drippings, light scrubbing to get the smoke off the bottom, refoil and place it back for the next time I need to smoke. Overall it’s been great, I still need to work on my meats a bit as I keep leaving them in too long fearing it’s not done, but trust the machine and a meat thermometer.

    Why do you need to season the smoker?

    • @AlenKwong
      @AlenKwong  4 роки тому +1

      Pre-seasoning helps to burn off any chemicals and oils from the manufacturing process, this will help ensure they don’t affect your first smoke.

    • @AlenKwong
      @AlenKwong  3 роки тому

      Depends on the size. I put in a few 12-15lb briskets. If needed can cut in half but just make sure you check internal temp on each and remove the smaller one first when it's done.

  • @ravengsxr
    @ravengsxr Рік тому

    Got the same one only with the glass window. It has failed me 3 out of 3 times. First time it stopped working after 7 hrs of smoking a brisket, condensation got in the controller unit, They sent me new housing unit. Second time the "new" housing unit again allowed condensation into the digital controller(read 300 deg F), they sent me a new digital controller. Tried it again and it failed again. So far it has ruined over 300 usd in food.
    I'm sick of this smoker.

      It's been doing well. I haven't smoked anything recently as there's been alot of fires in California, so I didn't want to be alerting the neighbors smelling smoke. I'll probably do some ribs as pork pricing has come down.
