We found it about an acre away. I bought a new one and I saved the good parts from the old one as spares. Got about 8 years out of the first one.
This is for the guy cleaning the electric smoker a very big thank you you saved me and my smoker no one at the company mine came from could tell me how to clean it one even told me it's OK to use degreaser like easy off I really didn't want to so I was like I'm going to try this guy's method of apple cider vinegar and water and it worked beautifully I use charcoal smoker not electric but I love my smoker so again I don't have the word to express my gratitude you saved my smoker maybe my life the lives of people I'd have served my food so I hope this finds you this was 3 years ago but I could leave with at least a very big THANK YOU
Surprised you don't foil the drip deflector or drop tray . I tin foil everything , It makes clean up easier. I wash the water pan and other components in the dishwasher
I use a degreaser called Super Clean either foaming sprayer or regular spray bottle . A video some one else put on U tube . The stuff is inexpensive at O Reilly's auto parts . It softens even backed on fast . Just re wipe surfaces with a clean wet rag when finishing up. I pull out the removable parts lay them on a plastic dog crate tray . Spray with cleaner and then pressure wash Done! Their rep in Minnesota said it can be used to pre treat grease spots on clothes as well . Worked perfect.
We always wrap the water tray drip pan with aluminum foil it makes a simple and easy cleaning if you do too deep of a clean on your smoker it gets rid of all theSmoke flavor it will be just like smoking with a new smoker
We tried that (wrapping in aluminum), but after we smoked a brisket the aluminum was actually really hard to get off although we only cooked at 225 F. Didn't expect it, but that's what happened.
Nice tips on cleaning the smoker, I used Easy off grill and smoker cleaner on the racks and I used a razor blade with a scraper on my glass door. Thanks for sharing. #PEACE ✌🏿
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost my login password. I love any tricks you can offer me
@Ashton Malakai thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
So I have an electric smoker same brand it’s been sitting in storage for about 2yrs I finally got it out it’s not terrible a little bit rusted would it still be ok to use if cleaned
Yeah I should have watched this first. I found that cheap washing detergent powder as a paste left to sit eats the grease but it also tarnished the metal. Still it works great on friers.
I love when 3 year old useful videos show up in my search results. I hope you can still earn a few coins from me viewing this video 3 yrs later. Since I'm here, I might as well check your catalog to see if there are any other videos I might enjoy. Thanks for sharing. 😁
Someone gave me a used smoker like this one and its got a lot of build up.would these cleaning products clean it? I don't want to taste other peoples seasonings.
I take all the racks and whatever else I can remove and scrap off what I can, then toss everything in the oven and run the self clean my racks are ceramic coated and they come out looking new.
@@hectormarentes7497 yep it was about a 100k remodel on the main floor so probably 50 or 60 of that was the kitchen. I'll be paying it off a loooooong time
Nice looking video! I have a similar electric smoker and an offset and for some reason I keep getting a bitter / creosote taste on anything I smoke on the electric. Think this would help or what suggestions might you have?
@@SmokeTrailsBBQ was gonna say about the same thing , I only smoke for about the first hour to hour and half depending on meat temp at start of smoke . Bad smoke will have that funky taste on ur meat
I have had my smoker for 2 years and have never cleaned anything I can’t take out and put in my sink . I do wipe it out but as for scrubbing the inside , never done it
A good all natural cleansing agent is the wood ash. Mix with water and clean. It is acidic and all natural. I also use my pressure washer if I am in a hurry. Just don’t use the zero degree nozzle. 🤫
One mistake people make is they assume a smoker must always be squeaky clean. When hot smoking it's better to just scrape out the buildup inside (with a stiff 1 1/4 inch putty knife) and do a wipe down with a wet cloth. Just remove the heavy gunk especially near heat areas and above food. Never use nasty chemical cleaners. Personally, I don't use steel wool. I think it leaves behind steel particles. You just don't want a fire to start inside the smoker. Smokers aren't ma's kitchen stove.
I always line the drip deflector and drip pan with foil and that makes for a much easier clean up. And my wife with kill me if I tried to bring my smoker in the kitchen. A small trash barrel in the driveway is a great place to wash the grates and other parts.
DO NOT PUT THE GRATES IN THE DISHWASHER!!! I just had to replace mine because the Cascade takes the chrome off the racks. Cleaning is important if you are cold smoking cheese. The humidity mixes with the smoke residuals and makes big black spots on the cheese when it drips.
Hey Sam when you have a new smoker first hand wash all the components individually and dry to get off that factor manufactured outside. Then assemble smoker and run on med-high with no chips for a 1-2 hours. Then add chips/pellets and cook for 1-2 hours. This cooks off/breaks in the metal and the light wood cook may seem extra but I find it does help with the flavor on the first cook! Enjoy
Tip one, never clean it this thoroughly! A smoker doesn't have to be seasoned. It's not like a cast iron pan the food actually cooks on. The smoke is airborne.
1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 water works on mine. spray it let stand 5min. brush with nylon brush.rinse with hose. repeat 2-3 times and it'll look like new
Try seasoning your smoker every time you use it with top grade Marijuana. Invite you family, friends, Cheech & Chong, and neighborhood residents. Stand around the vent of the smoker. Play the Woodstock, or a Jimi Hendrix CD in the background, and breath DEEPLY. Plus, the Marijuana flavoring inside the smoker will inhance the taste of your smoked food so well, that it will give you a bad case of the munchies. When that happens, your smoked food will disappear even faster, even the bones- and your guests will help you clean your smoker, by licking the Marijuana residue off the inside and outside of the unit. It's a "Win-Win" deal.
Not trying to go against your video here, but honestly I recommend never cleaning it. Sure clean the racks and places your food actually touches but u never want to clean the walls. Some places actually have smokers that have been going for over 100 years, not electric but it takes years to develop that creosote smoke coating and u need that. I always wondered why my smoked meats never had the great flavor of this place I go to in our area, and they took me on a tour and showed me their smoker has rocked for over 100 years and there is just absolutely no reason to clean it. I guess if build up was falling out the bottom u could scrap it, but never use any kind of chemicals ever just trust me on this, mines been rocking for several years now and I swear the flavor is incredible, less work + better product what else do u need.
Yea as long as the meat isn't touching the walls it's fine. All personal preference. The problem is when it starts flaking down onto the food if it gets really bad. Again, it's not going to kill anyone, but it is a carcinogen and the less of that crap we eat the better.
It's not even so much the carcinogens in it as it is the thermostats in these electric smokers. They don't read accurately without being cleaned occasionally. So at least do that in my opinion.
Awesome video but just wanted to comment, you can compost the wood but you should never compost any oil/grease, or your compost will not turn out as good and will attract animals
I now clean mine too, two springs ago, I went to use my electric smoker and as it started to heat up, flakes of charred bits were coming off onto the food. It was a disaster since it was hot and I had to remove the food and clean it.
I used to clean my smoker this well. It's waste of time. Soak the grates for a few hours not 10-20 minutes and you can use a regular dish brush and sponge with a scrubby side. Steel wool shouldn't be necessary, but buy stainless wool if you are going to use something like that. It actually looks like thats what this presenter is using. Cleaning the catch pan, water pan, chip pan and chip loader that well is just silly. All that work takes the fun out of smoking. Kind of like using my food processor...cleaning all those parts makes me just use a chefs knife instead.
And make sure you set the greasy thing in the middle of your white granite kitchen island to clean it. That's the best possible place to do this! (Said no one ever!) LOL!
Way to much work. Put everything that you can remove in your self cleaning oven. Then grab GP66 (from qvc) spray down everything inside and use hose to wash all grease away. Do it a few times and let air dry. Then load with wood chips and turn on for an hour or so to re-season. Done🤷🏻♂️

Good video. I wipe the racks/grates with avocado oil before smoking and wrap drip pan in foil. Makes for easy clean up.
This is great thanks. I wash the racks and trays, but after 10+ briskets, and 6 years I have never cleaned the interior out. Hmmm. I'll give it a go.
Surprised you don't foil the drip deflector or drop tray . I tin foil everything , It makes clean up easier. I wash the water pan and other components in the dishwasher
Why are you watching a video on this if you have it all figured out?
Good Idea! ,I just got one thanks!!
Cooking with foil causes Alzheimer’s and dementia. Research it.
My smoker developed a black rubbery coating inside. It bubbled and peeled off in large patches. It was the consistency of a latex glove.

The door jamb must be cleaned after each use. Creosote buildup after just a couple uses will flake paint off when reheated.

Not trying to judge a book by its cover. Looking at the size of your kitchen your are definitely not hurting for money. Your kitchen looks awsome.
We bought a smokers house so part of the sales price was reduced so we could remodel. So built a new kitchen. Not expensive, just new
@@SmokeTrailsBBQ The kitchen is the most expensive part of the house to build though so it is expensive

Yes as long as you dry it
