I couldn't help but laugh with all the cameras lined up on your house. You have one patient wife! I do appreciate the time and effort you put into these comparisons. I would like to hear more of your recap/final thoughts of which one you're happiest with.
Thank You... as to final thoughts...with all the cameras, all of them have their pros and cons... as to clarity though, I'll go with Argus followed by Arlo Pro 2
In the south in USA if someone had that many cameras set up at one time ppl already know they use meth ..lol..anyways I loved your video and this vid helped us decide on what to get for our home since we have neighbor from hell..we chose Arlo..we're very happy with it ..plus it was easy to install no fuss. Again thanks for going out of your way to make this vid..I'm sure the cost alone was more than any veiwer could ask for ..this is the best demo I've seen yet ..
Need to spread the word about this guy. If I don't see a Security product reviewed by him, I don't even give it a second look lol. I've yet to see such a detailed comparison.
@@Bayplaces I'm on Amazon looking at cameras and they all have downfalls, but some are better than others. This guy shows pros and cons of them all! I don't think he works for Amazon, but I hope you're right and he does. I'd love for someone that is "affiliated with Amazon" to show us the product in use with such in depth checks as these! I can see everything the product does. This will help me make an informed decision on which camera I buy. This guy has a lot of camera reviews and I have discovered, through the videos, that anything that is Amazon brand seems to be kind of bad. Google makes some good ones apparently, but there are other brands with better features than the google cameras have to offer. I think I'm going to end up buying something outside of the google or Amazon brands because of the reviews this guy gives. He's shown us some videos that helped me find a few good cameras and none in my top 5 possible buys are Google or Amazon made. One doesn't even work with our Google nests, so it's going to have to run as a stand alone feature in our home. Yeah that part is annoying, but the pros outweigh the cons. Thank you LifeHackster for the reviews that helped me to sample these products through you before buying them.
I've watched just about all your reviews. Great job with, appreciate all the work you do informing us. I personally utilize the Yi camera systems, one indoor 1080 Dome and two outdoor 1080 cams. The two outdoor cameras were installed today and I am pretty happy with the quality I've seen from daytime to night. Especially at the price point I got all the cameras for, I've spent just around $200 including SD cards. All in all I say for the price, the system is great as long as you have the infrastructure for them; close power supply & good mesh WiFi. Considering one Nest camera is around $200, I say Yi Cameras are win, as long as you don't mind the Chinese watching you. Which I don't, all they'll see is me walking around my house half naked.
Thanks for this. You've given me some things to think about You've saved me the frustration of buying cameras and then finding out they are insufficient for my needs. My neighborhood is generally safe. But, I need a camera with good night vision due to the occasional night lurker.
Thank you!!! I have been researching security camera's for the outdoor, but not getting much information other than the usual sales pitch. But I came across your video on UA-cam , life is much better now!! I was able to compare and see for myself under different lighting which one is clearer.

I've checked out other videos now and have subscribed. Thank you for your attention to detail. You put a lot of time into searching like I do!
Another GREAT review. As many others have commented - you are the BEST on putting to the actual TRUE test of all these devices! I much appreciate your time and effort in providing the public with ACCURATE info before buying. ( BTW - I ordered my Argus -Reolink 2) I own two YI indoor units and those seem to be working great for my needs.
I have installed & set up my 2 cameras at my cabin - useing Century Link Wi Fi. Works fine at my cabin. Now that Im back home (or at my office) I'm having trouble connecting to the cameras? My YI & Belkin cameras connect no matter what my location. Any suggestions?
OK - BOTH are now working. So maybe my CENTURY LINK Internet was having a problem? Frustrating if that was the EXACT period as trying to use these from my office & home locations! I also tried my cell data(turned off WiFi)yesterday and still no connection.
If it is not connecting, try changing the video quality to fluent and see if it helps. Seems like the Reolink needs a good internet connection to properly connect... I'll be testing these cameras on those low internet connections and see which ones connect better... in my future video..
Great review, you just saved me a bunch. Gonna go with Amcrest 4K 8MP bullet cameras. A little more conspicuous, but it really seems like all the name brands are pretty underwhelming quality wise and when you throw in half of them require a monthly subscription for full features - easy decision.
Maybe it was coincidence, but my Ring Spotlight Cam Battery started giving me color night vision exactly when I added the Solar Panel to it. The camera also stopped freezing and being choppy, and now always gives me smooth video that is also clearer without the long ramp-up to quality playback that it used to have. Great comparison video!
That's actually very interesting..you definitely should contact the manufacturer engineer or whoever uses support . This could be the ticket with ppl who use solar..ide imagine solar wouldn't have more amp per drive compared to full amp continuance with standard electricity for residential areas..solar power feeds only what it needs too if current is wired properly and the capacitor is correctly distributing to what it needs as many homes have a Max limit compacitors that push way more power than say a light bulb needs ..makes sence and I need to tell my uncle this who has solar power and see if he's noticed change in reaction time for motion detection and color level's compared from then and now with solar..enjoyed your comment
This is absolutely the best review I have seen. Thank you so much! Have Arlo (pre Pro) cameras. Trying to get better night vision (preferably in color). What light source is needed or do you recommend and what should the app settings be set to? Night vision on or off and what sensitivity level? It looks like 5 feet is about the best for camera detection.
You can get any type of light..solar lights are cheap at Amazon and they activate when there is motion. Also you can check the Arlo lights..occasionally, they put them on sale. I will not but them with their retail pricing.
This video makes me disappointed that I purchased the Ring spotlight and floodlight cams. I should have purchased the Arlo Pro 2 because night vision is the most important thing for me in my neighborhood. Thank you for the great video as usual and for being completely honest in your assessment of the cameras.
Sparklander I hope RING goes out of business. I almost bought their spotlight cams until I saw these reviews. The picture and ads from RING are deceitful
You are welcome. Ring's black and white night vision quality is bad. The enhanced night vision is better but the problem is the spotlights are not that bright... so even in color, the quality is not that great... My Ring floodlight cam on the other hand is pretty good... ua-cam.com/video/92Z5ZTO_zjM/v-deo.html
I have a set of Arlos, but never used Ring cameras. The night vision is good. Because they're WiFi, there can be quite a delay to detect motion. When we get a pizza delivered, the delivery guy usually rings the bell before I get a camera alert. Which is pretty bad. - However, the image quality is great, so I guess it depends what you're looking to get out of it. I chose the Arlo because they're battery powered and running cable wasn't really an option for me. Overall they've been pretty pleasing. Some issues with the app now and then, but pretty good performance minus the lag/delay issue.
LH, another great detailed review. I have 5 Blink cameras, 1 old Dropcam HD and a new Wyze Cam V2. When my wife complains, I just show her your camera setup.....:)
i am looking for a nice security camera/cctv with good night vision and came across your reviews/vid... great job... you did good.. very helpful for busy people that got less time to look around and at the same time got no idea which brand is good (Y) THANKS for giving us a nice comparisons/reviews!
I have been watching your reviews for a while now. Please keep them up. The main thing I got out of this review is that ALL these cameras are garbage when in IR mode, with the Reolink being the only one that comes close to having footage that might allow cops to ID a face. I get MUCH better IR performance from my various wired IP cameras, albeit they are also more expensive than these Wi-Fi consumer-oriented units. (A LOT more expensive for some models). It would be fun to see you put these up against something like an Axis P1435-LE, for example. (In Axis product naming, the L indicates low light optimization -- which may be either a very sensitive sensor, IR LEDs, or both.). I dunno if Axis has a marketing arm that you could request one from them to test in return for making a video about it.
Yes. Wired NVR PoE/IP cameras are still the best in surveillance as compared to WiFi cameras. I currently have the Reolink NVR PoE system 4 MP cameras and they are pretty good..for my needs anyways.. - ua-cam.com/video/2100dx_FVhU/v-deo.html
Suggestion : I think you should update the description with timestamps for each camera. While I do enjoy watching your videos , sometimes I'm in the mood to get straight to the point :)
What is in your honest opinion the current best outdoor camera. I have about $6k invested in my telescope and I need to sleep so I need a reliable camera with great resolution at night. What do you suggest now. Wireless preferably. Thanks
Any chance you can do a motion detection at night starting from furthest distance. I'd like to see how far a Blink camera can detect motion from the farthest distance? Do you already have a video doing this with each camera?
LH, you are the most comprehensive product reviewer in UA-cam. One thing though, you should have tested the Nest Outdoor camera at night in color and not in W/B. Also, what's your d/l and u/l internet speed because your high settings did not look that good as it does on mine.
Footballer I like the idea behind the test...BUT To bad you couldn't do the test in totally darkness...the lights in the background ( annoying lights) facing the cameras did not allow them to truly show there actually nightvision quality..👀oops..check out the Maximus Kuna Floodlight Full color Nightvison: 1.ua-cam.com/video/TWRifUgZQus/v-deo.html
Oh! My bad...well, let me just add that possibly doing this video test while all of them were connected at the same time may play a factor on the video quality finale as the d/l and u/l amount you have may not be quite high to support them all together. As you may already know, I got two Wired Ring Devices and one Nest Outdoor camera. In my case, the Nest Outdoor Camera gives me a clear video quality daytime and nighttime even without night lights in place. Either way, you are becoming, if not already, the King of product reviews! Keep up the astounding work!!
LH you do indeed make the best reviews. Thanks for doing this. I have to agree with Footballer. I had my Nest outdoor cam (NV turned off) overlooking my driveway with 4 (60W equivalent..800 lumens IIRC, and soft white) LED philips hue bulbs. The image quality was quite impressive. I realize watching examples on youtube vs in person can be different. Anyways, please continue making videos! I always look forward to them
Oopss. somebody hasn't been listening... lol.. I stated on the first part of the video that all other cameras are either turned off or removed from the mount during testing.. ;) Thanks...
I need help !!!!!..... I just bought the arlo ultra 2, and in my personal opinion is really great 4K is amazing during the day but at night is not that good but do a decent job..... but my problems begins when I try to set up this cameras with the Apple HomeKit.... in the box clearly say it work with the Apple HomeKit!!!! But every time I try to do the set up a message pops up and it say “ uncertified accessory this accessory can not be used with Apple HomeKit “ please please let me know if you know something that can help me out to resolve this issue ( contacting arlo support..... forget about, not even them can resolve that issue.... or they don’t even want to try something ) ..... thanks
Battery powered cameras will have this limitation because of the PIR sensor that they use. It normally have a maximum detection range of about 30 feet which in my testing is pushing it... With the Arlo Pro's around 25 feet. I will release a video of comparison of motion detection range on battery powered cameras soon.
Can you help with this question? Need to explain some backdrop first. Our neighborhood was "hit" with petty thefts lately..... a car driving thru our streets....stopping every-so-often, with kids getting out the car....ransacked unlocked cars parked in the driveways....and ran back to the get-away vehicle, which then drove off. Lot's of neighbors had the Ring (?) doorbell camera and those people shared videos. The problem?.....the resolution was very poor and we can't make out the car, other than in very general terms. Especially when moving the car is blurred, and so is any freeze-frame picture. I would guess the doorbell camera is about 55 ft from the house front door to the street. The biggest problem is (?) picture resolution? Can these cameras be mounted at roadside mailboxes? ( what about power?).....another option is that the entry street to our neighborhood from the main feeder-street, has a brick wall with a nameplate identifying our neighborhood by name....many subdivisions are like this. I think it would be good to get a camera at these "entry and exit" points and maybe set it up to get a better resolution pic of the car or even better....license plate number at night. How hard would it be to do any of this?
Hey bro. Trying to figure out which is better. Arlo video camera and doorbell V.S Ring video camera and doorbell?? I prefer wired. But if you think the wireless battery is doable pls give me an advice or post a video again. Thanks so much.
As to video quality.. it will be with the Argus 2 but I also have now reviewed the Argus Eco which I think is better and also the Eufy cam e which has good video quality also..
I’m torn between the arlo pro 2 and the ring floodlight camera. I already have pre existing flood lights at our house. Thoughts? Recommendations? Not wanting to pay a monthly fee
Floodlight camera... go with wired setup as much as possible. It is way better in motion detection. I know, it needs a subscription but if you eventually will add more cameras and alarm system, the Ring 100/year is hard to beat.
Good comp 👍 *That proves that all those cameras are toys, not security.* You can barely make a face of the person standing right below the cam. Nothing can measure up to 4K cam on POE with set CBR to 5000kbps.
As to rain, all the cameras in the video are weather resistant...so there should be no issues on that. As to snow, it should be ok except if it gets too cold, then the battery powered cams will not work reliably.
Thought this was a great video but there was something I was really hoping to see when I saw the pylons. I was hoping you would do a test walking from the back of the yard towards the unactivated camera until it automatically turns on to see the detection distance. I have regular arlo cameras that begin recording after a person or even vehicle has passed by on highest sensitivity. I'm looking at changing them for this reason so a distance activation test especially at night would be an excellent comparison and selling point.
My man any chance you’ve worked on this? I’m looking for a best battery wireless camera that has best motion activated recording with minimal delay. & would really prefer NO Cloud monthly fees a plus would also be if brand sells there own solar panels but no biggie if not cause I’ll just rig my own if needed
You made an exhaustive review. There is only a questions i still have about Reolink (the one i prefered). I suppose infrared leds for night vision make the typical dim red light in the dark. If yes, is the light too obvious tu put the device into the countryside without getting people attention? May you can take a photo of ir leds into the dark. Thank you
For WiFi cameras, I'll go with Ring (wired versions) There are not the best in video quality but they are reliable as to motion notifications and recordings.
I love this video! Very informative! In an unrelated question can you tell me if your arlo alarm siren has quit working? In the last update on January the 7th my alarms don't work or just barely work.
I still have my Ultra's hook up and my Arlo Pro 2's turned off at this time. I will be comparing the 2 cameras in a week or so and I'll check it out. I will not be surprised if it is not working because Arlo is scrambling in releasing updates due to Arlo Ultra's release failure. It is common occurrence that Arlo messes up something when they update their app or firmware.
@@LifeHackster Hello again! I have the arlo pro so when you test in a couple of weeks will the test work for me also? Is there a big difference in arlo pro and arlo pro two? I have no siren when trying today. I am so glad I came across your video's. On arlo community I have done everything people advise with no success. One minute the siren works then the next it does not. I will wait for your video because you are the only one that's got it going on and keeping it real!
hi Lifehackster thank you for the excellent reviews. I installed a ring spotlight cam today in my backyard. The backyard has uneven lighting, making it indeed dark in about 1/4 of the whole area. It was very difficult for the ring cam to detect motion when I tested it, when I walk within the dark area. Did you test with Arlo pro at all and compare the motion sensitivity? Is there anyway to work this out? Thank you.
I've heard about this that some customers with Ring cameras have difficulty detecting at night. I have the opposite, my floodlight and my spotlights detects further than my motion zones. Ring cameras uses both PIR motion and algorithms to detect motion and the PIR which what the spotlight uses has a detection range of 20-30 feet. Try adjusting the light sensitivity...when the lights are on, then the camera can easily see and detect motion. Arlo uses just the PIR sensor and I have no issues with it as to detection at night...within the 20-30 foot range.
This is the type of video that really needs to be made, because mfr. specs aren't always what you get in real life. I bought a Lorex system and cameras are supposed to be good for 90 ft. It depends on lighting conditions. I live in a rural area and at night it is 0 ft. Very disappointed. Would have been nice if you picked one of the cams and indicated why you selected it.
LifeHackster I love my argus but hate the short recoding times. They have a firmware update but I havent had time to do it. You just have to email customer support.
Yes... I emailed them and they responded pretty quick and will push (pushed - I haven't checked yet) the update..you have to pick how many seconds of recording though 8, 16 or 30 seconds...
First, you doing a great job ...best of all... I'm still looking and can't decide, for outdoor wi-fi camera... I wonder which one will have the fastest notification no the phone... or best two way voice communication... So I will know that someone is by my front door...any advice? Thanks
Any Ring cams will have instant notification but they kinda suck in 2 way communication. I recommend the "wired" and not battery powered for the Ring... Reolink Argus and Arlo Pro 2's have almost instant notifications too.
Another factor which I have to take for consideration is weather temp. resistance ...In Canada we have few months of winter with some days below -20C ...and some of those cameras are not rated for that temperature...like Argus...
Yes. The Argus will be limited in cold weather. It is because of the batteries..even the Arlo's will not work in extreme cold weather.. A wired option will be better in these conditions or if you can insulate the body of the camera...
Lifehackster, do you think you will do a NEST OUTDOOR VS OUTDOOR IQ comparison one day? I know the image quality is the same, but the IQ boasts a higher zoom and a feature with the 4k sensor to keep picture quality when zoomed in. I know the IQ costs quite a bit more but I think all of us on here can agree that if anyone could/should do it, we would want it to be you

Very thorough review as always! Thanks for the comparative review!
You are welcome.
Excellent info. Just comparing cams and your videos have been great to do this with. Looking at an Argus 2 so far as a pick.
Thanks.
Love this guy and his reviews.
Thank You.
Suggestion : I think you should update the description with timestamps for each camera. While I do enjoy watching your videos , sometimes I'm in the mood to get straight to the point :)
Will keep that in mind in my future videos...
Best one I've used so far has to be zumimall it turned night into day and it was super clear as far as you can see I'm still impressed
Thank you. Your video has helped us make a decision on which system we want!!!
What does Saturn Gal endorse?
Which one do you think it's the best one?
Awesome video 👌🏻👍🏻 .. great quality work and detailed comparison
Thank You.
What is in your honest opinion the current best outdoor camera. I have about $6k invested in my telescope and I need to sleep so I need a reliable camera with great resolution at night. What do you suggest now. Wireless preferably. Thanks
I recommend getting a night owl x security camera system. It doesn’t have audio but has good quality and an app you can Download. Very good system
Cia: sir he's demonstrating the camera again
You should do a motion zones alerts test on these cameras on a given range.
I am actually planning to do that plus timing also up to the opening of the app. Will be doing that video soon...
Thank You. I did test the Nest in color...twice lol..I speed tested at where the cameras were and it is 30.2 DL and 7.47 UL..more than enough...
Footballer
I like the idea behind the test...BUT
To bad you couldn't do the test in totally darkness...the lights in the background ( annoying lights) facing the cameras did not allow them to truly show there actually nightvision quality..👀oops..check out the Maximus Kuna Floodlight Full color Nightvison:
1.ua-cam.com/video/TWRifUgZQus/v-deo.html
What a great video. You did an awesome service to help everyone out.
Awesome Complete Straight Forward Review!
Thank You...
But every time I try to do the set up a message pops up and it say “ uncertified accessory this accessory can not be used with Apple HomeKit “ please please let me know if you know something that can help me out to resolve this issue ( contacting arlo support..... forget about, not even them can resolve that issue.... or they don’t even want to try something ) ..... thanks
Great video but I'm still not sure? Which is the best floodlight camera? Ring and Arlo get terrible reviews on Amazon.
You are doing awesome work man!
Thank You. I appreciate it.
Thank you for the excellent videos. Can you please tell me, in your opinion at this time, which outdoor wifi camera has the best night vision?
The Eufy cam e or Reolink Argus cameras.
Thanks for detail video
Glad i got my Arlo 2 cameras. Really good picture but motion trigger is not as long of range as i could of wished for.
Battery powered cameras will have this limitation because of the PIR sensor that they use. It normally have a maximum detection range of about 30 feet which in my testing is pushing it... With the Arlo Pro's around 25 feet. I will release a video of comparison of motion detection range on battery powered cameras soon.
We appreciate this:)!! Thank you. Which was was the last one that was the clearest brightest ?
Do you have video showing the sound quality? My neighbor likes to make horrible comments to my family and I want to see what's the best options
I made a couple of videos about this issue and my take on it... -> ua-cam.com/video/jujXMMGdeOo/v-deo.html
Best cam review ever. Thanks
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Hey bro. Trying to figure out which is better. Arlo video camera and doorbell V.S Ring video camera and doorbell??
I prefer wired. But if you think the wireless battery is doable pls give me an advice or post a video again. Thanks so much.
Wired doorbells are better and more accurate in motion detection..like the ring pro or nest Hello.
I like this comparison.
Thanks.
LifeHackster, have you pondered your house has more surveillance camera than the White House? 😂
Lol..I know..
Which one do you suggest out of all of them, or is there anything else you feel is better than all of them?
As to video quality.. it will be with the Argus 2 but I also have now reviewed the Argus Eco which I think is better and also the Eufy cam e which has good video quality also..
Excellent comparison!
Thank You.
Thanks for doing this. Its very helpful
You are welcome.
Do you have any recommendations on the best bcn night vision camera I live in the country and it's dark outback. Thanks.
i wonder what he chooses as his camera for outdoor security?
Which is the best camera ouy of all of them
Very nice detailed video. Could you please send the make and model or link to what 2000lm flood light you have? Thanks
The one in the video is I think is out of stock. But I have this one also that I use - amzn.to/2MdCtrZ
LifeHackster awesome thanks for the advice!
Great review like always.
Good comp 👍 *That proves that all those cameras are toys, not security.* You can barely make a face of the person standing right below the cam.
Nothing can measure up to 4K cam on POE with set CBR to 5000kbps.
True. Their Achilles' tendon is Wifi...and the compression of the video to easily upload to the cloud.
Have you considered a summary at the end of your videos? Those were a lot of comparisons.
I will in my future videos..
I subbed , great reviews. Very detailed. 👍
Thanks for the sub.
Should do a test when it's raining or snowing with all the cam
As to rain, all the cameras in the video are weather resistant...so there should be no issues on that. As to snow, it should be ok except if it gets too cold, then the battery powered cams will not work reliably.
So which do you like the best for night
Argus 2.
I have a ring doorbell. which security system do you suggest?
So which one was best? 1 through 5
Thanks for the hard work!
You are welcome.
excellent reviews! thank you
You are welcome.
I’ll be working on the this topic and test the cameras..thanks for the suggestion.
@@LifeHackster Awesome, I very much so look forward to seeing your results. Keep up the great work!
Pro trick: you can watch movies on Flixzone. Been using them for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Aryan Derek Definitely, have been watching on flixzone} for since november myself =)
Thanks for doing this. All of them seem to underperform, suppose it is because they are wireless.
Thank you
If you only could choose one brand and model camera set up for your own use, which would it be?
For WiFi cameras, I'll go with Ring (wired versions) There are not the best in video quality but they are reliable as to motion notifications and recordings.
Great channel! Question: what floodlight are you using with the 2000 lumens and 5000 kelvin?
This one -> amzn.to/2SnbfC6
thank you so much
You are welcome.
What are the battery lifes of those? (If the electricity cuts out)
I love this video!
I’m looking for a camera I can have in a dark garage with color night vision . Which is the best for that situation
Great videos. Did Reolink fixed the motion detection issue with a firmware or app update? Tnx
Yes, they released an update that you can choose how long the camera will record...
Great job, and good creative idea to review. Thank man
Thank You.
Have you done a video review of the Lorex cameras with night vision and speakers?
This is the type of video that really needs to be made, because mfr. specs aren't always what you get in real life. I bought a Lorex system and cameras are supposed to be good for 90 ft. It depends on lighting conditions. I live in a rural area and at night it is 0 ft. Very disappointed. Would have been nice if you picked one of the cams and indicated why you selected it.
can you provide a link to what floodlight you are using?TIA
amzn.to/2P2T7NN
Any reason why no review on Lorex? Im new to all of this, but was considering lorex.
No particular reason.. but will be testing the Lorex soon...
Thanks for the review.
You are welcome.
Great info... can you recommend a good indoor cam and battery operated outdoor cam?
Indoor cam- Wyze cam or Yi, outdoor battery- Argus Eco, arlo pro2, ring Stick Up cam battery and Blink XT.
Hai. Can u suggest me for outdoor use batery and solar which good.argus 2,argus eco or c3a(ezviz)
From my understanding you can email reolink to get a firmware update so you can adjust recording times.
I will do that. Thanks.
Please make an update video if you get the firmware update.
I know the IQ costs quite a bit more but I think all of us on here can agree that if anyone could/should do it, we would want it to be you
I was actually planning for the outdoor IQ before the regular nest outdoor... might be in the future... will see.
@@LifeHackster any iq updates?
which one is best?
The Argus 2 has the best video quality on this video...
LifeHackster thank you
