I’m so excited to see you and your ways of camping I myself just started car camping in my 2016 rav 4 I’ve been on the road for 4 months while traveling from Oregon to Calif I live in Wimer Rogue River Oregon and still planning all my bucket list trips so this next month I’m exploring Jackson and Josephine counties so much to see and the elements seem to be my mental therapy! I’d love to meet with you and help me organize my car as a minimalist!
Thanks Voneta! I love the Rogue River. Oregon offers plenty of mental therapy! I believe my videos cover all the bases, but feel free to post a questions here.
Wow, really fun and helpful video. Thanks for making it! I have a teardrop camper and plan to move from the Southeast to the PNW soon. I'm hoping to do some ski resort camping. My biggest question is whether I'll be happy and comfortable in the mornings and evenings while I'm not skiing. Mornings are probably find b/c I'll just brew up some coffee and get back inside my teardrop while I caffeinate and wake up. But after I get off the mountain, I'm not really sure what I'll do with the next few hours before bedtime. Seems a bit cold to hang out outdoors, but I'm not terribly tempted to lie down inside my teardrop for several hours, either. What do you normally do in the evenings after getting off the mountain, but before you go to bed?
Thank you Dustin! Often times I go ski resort camping for just one night, so I am headed back home after a day of skiing. What you will find is there is a sense of community around ski resort campers and you will spend time hanging out with other campers in the evenings, even though it is cold! Also, I enjoy photography, so I will be out and about taking pictures in the evenings. And sometimes I will treat myself to some apre ski treats and have some beers and dinner at the restaurant or bar. After that, I am ready for bed!
Hey thanks for the content! What do you do to manage wet ski clothes (outerwear mainly)? When I ski I like to hang my jacket and pants so they dry out a bit.
Great question! This is definitely a factor. I hang them over seats or on the bars I utilize with my cargo nets. If I am connected to power, I will run the space heater (only while I am inside vehicle) and leave windows cracked to move moisture outside. If I am not connected to power, I just hope they dry out! The most important thing is to have extra base layers, so you can let one set dry out while wearing the other. Also, I make sure to have them hanging up while traveling with the heat running and I will put hats and gloves up on the dash to dry out. Happy skiing!
Good question Anthony! I have tried a few inexpensive weather radios, but I have not had much luck getting reception in the remote placed I travel. The best solution would be to install a tall antenna on my Suburban to be able to get better reception on a good weather radio. If that is not an option, then I would recommend carrying a barometer and when the pressure drops in the summer, expect a thunderstorm, and in the winter, expect snow!
I can only see the beer, no forest. LOL
😀

Great Video!
Thank you Pattie!
I heard WD40 eventually gums up locks, and it is better to use graphite powder.
Thanks Shell. I appreciate the feedback.

Wayne .the Mountain's are calling .
Always!
Question…what’s the best way to get up to date weather information as you travel? Especially for winter snowstorms and possible tornadoes 🌪

Which. Skipass are you using for season
I have not purchased a multi-resort ski pass. I have bought ski resort specific annual passes.
There is no such thing as Bad Weather, just Bad Gear. See you down the road neighbor! Cheers!
Thanks! Hope to see you out there too. Happy camping!
