  • I show you how to easily load camping gear in your SUV camper by walking through the process for creating a loading configuration plan. I walk through a step by step loading process for a solo camping trip and show you how to easily load camping gear in your SUV for double camping.
If you want to learn more about how to go anywhere, camp for free, and be prepared for anything, check out my website www.suburbancamping.com/ and here is the page featuring links to all the gear I utilize: www.suburbancamping.com/campi....

Really great ideas. The only part I dread is pulling in the driveway knowing I have to unload it again 😆. Thanks for the tips

Thanks James. Yes, that is definitely not the best part of a camping trip!

Thanks for this video. I always enjoy and get ideas from your videos. I do think 1/2 to a 1/3 of your cargo take-up space could be cut with modern amenities. A battery bin? Why not just use a Bluetti powerbank? Probably more capacity than your battery bin and 1/3 the space. Two coolers? Why not a modern high quality fridge / freezer combo? Another bin can go. Modern camping chairs / tables can be just as functionally / comfortable but folded-up smaller.
Again thanks for the videos and to each their own I guess....

Thanks for the comment, feedback, and ideas! I have and will continue to consider a powerbank and fridge/freezer. Part of my approach is keeping it simple and affordable. My battery was just over $200 and it is has 100 amp hours of power, which is comparable to the powerbanks. Yes, a fridge would save on the cost of ice, but it adds complexity to power management. I can easily reduce the number of bins, as I carry a lot of stuff I rarely need, but I have so much space in my Suburban, and I enjoy the peace of mind of being prepared for just about anything. Please keep the feedback and ideas coming!

Hello I just stumbled upon your channel and have enjoyed the content I’ve seen so far. Please tell me something. When you’re at a site that you plan to stay at for a while, do you have to load all your gear back up if you leave to do some sightseeing for the day? If you’re using your vehicle to get here and there while you’re at your site, do you load and unload every time you drive away from the site to go do stuff?

I have a very similar setup in my Pathfinder, How do you secure your Pelican case, is it a strap or a mounting system.? And love the channel.

Thank you Eric. So, I was using ratchet straps, but that was a pain, so I switched to bungee straps. I use two on each end and have them wrapped around my cargo rack, so they are always in position and I just have to hook them to the box. For security, on the backside I have a chain running through the backside of the cargo rack and each end padlocked to the box. There is more info and a picture of my setup on this page at my website: www.suburbancamping.com/suv-gear.
