Once in a lifetime film. How can you be a human being with a sense of the absurd and not LOVE this film??? And yes, the screenplay is beyond brilliant, the staging is magnificent, and the acting is on another level.
I was 17-years-old and alone when I first saw The Producers. The West Twins Theater, West St Paul, Minnesota. It was a school night. We were three people in the entire theater. I was on the floor 10 minutes into the film. I never laughed so much in my life. Never. I could not believe that the theater was not packed to the hilt. It is tied with The In-Laws for best comedy of all time!
Why no part 5....? It's a common trick used here by copyright holders. They let all the parts of their material stay up on UA-cam except one, which they get pulled for copyright violation. That way people get to watch it, enjoy it and get hooked, so they end up being terribly frustrated by the one missing part.. And the only way they can see that part is to go out and buy the whole video, which generates welcome sales for whoever owns it, especially for older or lesser known videos which might otherwise rarely sell at all if they had not been seen on UA-cam.
This is great! And it couldn't come at a better time!! I am trying to explain to someone (I'll say it... from a different generation and a totally different place in life/business) a very important concept - but they aren't getting it. Why? Because they refuse to listen to the WHOLE story (regarding the issue). Then I happen to watch this documentary and I see the scene about Peter Sellers. Just in that short 5-7 minute scene/part of the story, you see the ENTIRE coincidence of how a masterpiece like The Producers went from being a forgotten movie which was destined to end up in some film studio's back closet (covered with dust and spider webs) to an Academy Award winning/Tony award winning, beloved mega-hit because of one man and his over the top LOVE of what he watched one night after he was crushed by being offered and then banning ever eating spaghetti. If you LISTEN to the WHOLE story.... what WONDERFULLY FABULOUS things you learn about life and business!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will the person in MY life learn to listen? Probably not. He's from the generation that thinks that when they have read a 3 sentence paragraph synopsis of something (in this case: the making of The Producers ....though in this guy's case - how to run a successful branch office) that they "KNOW IT ALL! Ssshhhh, shhhh, shhhh, there is nothing more you could possibly teach him - he already knows the ENTIRE story!" What a shame.... what a fool.... what a waste.
Regardless of Boarshock's comments, and because I never saw the flick, the cuts and outtakes were extremely funny to me. Certantly including "No swastickas on my tits". Thoroly enjoyable.

Luved the movie, but find it unlikely crowds (in the movie) would have gathered to see "Springtime for Hitler).
