You would think the U.S. would look at the U.K. structure regarding legal tender, regarding gold and silver, since the U.K. has been around so much longer. It's a shame we've had to have individual states, roughly half now, legislate silver and gold as monies!
Thanks again Feds.!
Thanks MacB!
Thanks for watching mate!
I have been stacking in the UK for 15 years. Started by buying "art bars" from the U.S., it was worth the shipping when it was $2 to to £1. As vintage bar prices started to get stupid, my philosophy has been £ cost averaging and buying generic rounds for the silver rather than the object. I have a few britannia but wouldnt go overboard due to lack of quality and high premiums. Just got a few pre-owned Philharmonics from atkinsons at a good price. I have never purchased more weight than 10 ounce bars, nice stacking size. Always remember that you wont get rich stacking silver, but an ounce of silver will always be an ounce of silver.
New to all this, looking to get started. Thanks for the pointers and looking forward to more videos
Pre-owned maple leafs seem to be the best prices, and for silver bars mox metals (and they are hallmarked) works out £25 per oz.
Can you explain mox barss please new to this got cash to invest in any help would be great 👍
With the Britannias here in the UK it's that most people recognise what it is. Same with the gold souvereigns and humans associate money with coins. In combination it makes any negotiation so much easier.
Yeah I would agree, bars are nice too but not as popular as coins it seems
@@macdonaldbullion Seen my comment under a Morgan Video about the coin dealer I sometimes buy from? Worth having a look. Really nice guy. Seen quite a few of them on his page.
@@libelle8124 did you have a link to the video? I’ll check it out
@@macdonaldbullion Let me know you could read it here. I can't find the first comment, neither the one I just posted here. Very strange.
Another good informative vid.cheers
Thanks tfold
Got to agree with you mate, the #1 for stacking in the UK is definitely the Brit hands down. After that I just buy what I love. Great video as always buddy 👌
Thank you very much mate, yeah it’s no contest really. Cheers for watching
I was thinking about investing in silver, but when i started looking into it,.the price goes from £31 TOZ to £36 when added to basket cos of the vat. So im already down £5 before ive even started. Instead im going to invest in silver via an exchange or revolut. I know it means trusting a third party but it saves me £13 per oz
You can get VAT free but it’s vaulted. Alternatively look at preowned under chards special scheme. You can pick up silver for just shy of £30 or buy off other stackers/investors of silver.
@@macdonaldbullionyes but they charge for storage
I was thinking the price increase will outweigh the vat in a few years time, best thing to buy when the price is low and affordable

You can buy pre-owned as the VAT has already been paid.
I have some small pieces I bought from Bullion by Post probably 8 years ago. What stopped me from investing more was the stories about the Chinese flooding the market with counterfeits. It's not like I will take a hacksaw to every bar of gold I buy to make sure it's not gold-plated led bar! How do I trust them to sell me a legit thing? The second issue is - where do I sell it? Yes, I can sell it back to Bullion by Post and hope the price of the metal is high enough to offset their markup :) but it would be so much easier to know I can do the same in person - just walk into a shop and sell silver coins there at comparable prices.
and Thirdly - anyone knows what's the legal situation if I would like to cross borders with gold/silver? UK is heading in a direction where I don't want to see myself in 10-20 years, I will most likely retire in some more friendly place. Is it legal to cross borders with silver/gold? any tariffs required?
Sad thing is you pay £30 odd quid , and they are only worth scrap value unless you can find a buyer .
hey, what happens with legal tender when we go cashless? genuine question.
It’s unlikely we will go completely cashless anytime soon. It will be interesting to see what happens but no one really knows I suppose. It’s quite scary thinking you can be completely cut off if we go entirely cashless in times like blackouts or hackings. Time will tell😊
We will never go completely cashless, and even if we did, the Royal Mint and others make too much money from coinage, it will continue producing coins if only for collecting and investment purposes
Infact, cash is making a comeback at the moment-cash withdrawals have actually increased for two years in a row
@@macdonaldbullionyou will be able to trade items with silver/gold once it goes cashless and the government stops people buying items or services, that is coming. Will get your hole for a silver coin
I agree with buying more at once if you can. It took me four basically five months to save for my first buffalo. Anything is better than nothing of course.
Absolutely and there is no rush. I see people telling others to buy now and buy before it’s too late which just persuades people who might not have much to buy. Stacking responsibly is so important, I have a buffalo coming soon. Never had one before so should be cool to have
I new to buying silver. Am I better buying 1oz bullion coins or 2oz?? Thanks. Really enjoy you’re videos
@@dalebarker929 I’d suggest sticking with preowned 1oz silver. Things that are easy to sell when the time comes and as close to spot as possible. Premium pieces are nice but I prefer stacking regular rounds/bullion for weight atm
@@macdonaldbullionand which trusted platforms can I buy preownednl coins from please??
Hey I’m new to this what is the difference between cast silver are minted which is better
@@Owa24 cast usually has more of a rough finish, minted tend not to be. No difference in which is better, it’s all subjective just buy what you like mate
Wow I love ads =more gaws and better and bigger unboxings
Absolutely! Everyone loves GAWs😁
Yeah I’m still pumped about the sixpence
@@YomaoT12 it’s a really nice coin, everyone seems to really like the design😊
Yeah nice I can’t wait for it to arrive
It sucks that you have to pay that VAT tax over there
Yeah it’s a shame :(
That fact killing market. Many of uk people would buy it but not for price plus 20%
@@macdonaldbullion Can you buy silver from outside and bring it in the country?
@@olympusentertainment2638 you can, it may be subject to import taxes though
@@macdonaldbullionDam :D, can't go around the system.
Clearly shrek and the Xmas shrek 1oz. (Not financial advice!)
Yes! Shrek is awesome😁
20% VAT on Silver, though. I only buy silver in ETF/ETC form otherwise its pointless. Gold for physical
First
If you are happy to give 20% of your wealth to the government go ahead and buy silver. Otherwise buy gold and save the tax liability.
Gold is too expensive for the average man though.
If your intention is to hold for a good number of years, see a bull run on silver you should soon make the tax back and you won't pay anything on the profit. Still a relatively safe purchase if you hold for a while. Better than holding cash in a bank which you can guarantee will lose purchase power due to the current high inflation.
If you buy second hand silver Brittanias from an dealer you can get a better deal without VAT no?
you said all the good things about the Britannia but you missed out the big problem milk spots the Britannia is one of the worst silver bullion coins in the world to milk spot you kept knocking the American silver eagle the silver eagle is recognised all over the world as the no 1 bullion coin im a stacker and i go for eagles any day when your doing a review youve got to talk about all the facts of the coin are you getting a back hander from the Royal mint i think so
Not a review. A back hander? Slightly obtuse
Eagles suck compared to britannias,
I don't have any eagles, I prefer maples or krugers also
@@davt8615hopefully you like me wont have to sell your bullion coins but if that day does come i know for a fact that the eagle gives you more money back for your buck than a Britannia
Britannia over the Eagle all day everyday!
@@parklaneyid7505 nice coin ain't it bro 💯
I don’t have a Britannia yet 😅🧲⚓️👍
One day perhaps, no rush there’s millions out there😁
