I was buying half sovereigns at £180 a couple of years ago thinking I was paying way too much. The feeling never changes buying them now but I just try and keep in mind that GBP is devaluing
@@JB-sv2uc yep I was similar buying 1/10 at £160 and felt I was overpaying. Even had people say that I shouldn’t be buying at that much, now they’re worth £230. Gold does well to protect from devaluing fiat
Very clear and easy to understand, explained so well.
@@peterfeltham5612 pleased to here that, thank you for the feedback
Why aren’t more people buying Gold & Silver? There's two main reasons: 1. The lack of knowledge 2. The lack of funds to invest
Copper is more of an eye candy purchase. For god sake don't look at it as investment; the price would have to go to the moon just to recover the premium you paid. It's sexy to look at and touch but that's about it!
So many money for Gold 🪙🎉🎉😮😮😮😮
I used to collect pcgs morgan's
Yes I love the 1g gold bars, they have got a high premium however they are a lot easier to barter or sell if you only want a small amount of money
Silver has high premiums 😢 but i still stack for the channel
You did a very nice job of an overview of the Morgan silver dollar. There are many dates in the series and an absurd number of variations. A person could spend a lifetime studying all there is to know about Morgans, so I appreciate what you were able to convey in such a brief time. Well done, and congratulations on three years on your channel!
@@PatriachalRain exactly that, I could go on but I wouldn’t think that’s beneficial to anyone. Pleased to see it was helpful, thank you for your kind words.
Thank you very much you have taught me alot❤
@@KellyHampton-m5v I’m glad it was helpful
I was thinking about investing in silver, but when i started looking into it,.the price goes from £31 TOZ to £36 when added to basket cos of the vat. So im already down £5 before ive even started. Instead im going to invest in silver via an exchange or revolut. I know it means trusting a third party but it saves me £13 per oz
You can get VAT free but it’s vaulted. Alternatively look at preowned under chards special scheme. You can pick up silver for just shy of £30 or buy off other stackers/investors of silver.
@@macdonaldbullionyes but they charge for storage
I was thinking the price increase will outweigh the vat in a few years time, best thing to buy when the price is low and affordable
I was thinking the price increase will outweigh the vat in a few years time, best thing to buy when the price is low and affordable
You can buy pre-owned as the VAT has already been paid.
Like #8 - don’t know much about these coins so found this video very interesting
@@365DaysofSilver pleased to hear that mate, thank you for watching, glad it was interesting for you
Have a few. Maybe 3 I think, ones a New Orleans. No rares
Nice, is there anything in particular you’re looking to stack this year ? I’ll be grabbing more gold I think
@ probably just meme coins sadly and “stack” is too big a word. I’ll likely get some rando collector shiz and random junk silver from Antique shops that I happen across.
i keep coming back to this video because whoever decided the set list is my favourite person. Its perfect. I really wish i could have been there especially since Mardy Bum is one of my favs ❤
I love these coins ,I could look at them all day long. I think the old yellow ones with a bit of silver in them are beutifull, that golden yellow colour is mesmerising...the rose gold ones are nationally disliked and that's why the royal mint are ending them next year .The royal mint should listen to the people who buy them we don't like them add silver not bloody copper to them.
Morgans are not something I will ever get into, a really deep rabbit hole. I salute you for collecting this very popular series. Cheers Josh and keep at it 😊✌🏻

For the last couple of years, the best dealers like the Atkinsons, Chards etc used to pay 100% of the current spot price (or even 1-2% over spot, yeah that's right...) for the most popular 1 oz gold coins, like the Krugerrand, Maple Leaf etc. Right now they're paying spot ONLY for the .9999 Royal Mint Gold coins - all the other 1 oz coins like the Krugerrand, Philharmoniker etc they pay no more than 2% UNDER spot. If the things won't change (and I doubt they will - less and less people may afford to spend over £2000 per coin), it's very likely they'll no longer pay spot for ANY 1 oz gold coins - including .9999 Britannia. But at the same time, I'm pretty sure you'll still get your full spot price for your both Full and Half Sovereigns
Did you say Cobra Stackers Auction at @1:29 ?
I’m new to your channel, where to buy your silver? I’ve been starting to stack it but I find it a hard purchase because of the vat tax even when you find the pre owned “vat free” silver coins and bars there still around £30, what’s your opinion or recommendations I do in the future?
@@connorjones3080 I sell silver typically on the stackers social discord group, there’s a marketplace there for those selling gold and silver. Alternatively if you’re just starting and looking at buying from dealers I’d say to only buy preowned. Chards special scheme is a fair price www.chards.co.uk/category/buy-coins/a/silver/special
Almost all silver has way higher premium than 1g tavex gold bar. And this is as affordable as 1g costs as much as 2 maybe 3 oz of cheaper silver (sell price for coins, not melt value or buy back price).
Can’t go wrong with either metals.
Just got my first 1/10 gold Britannia and 3 of these 1 ounce silver. Love em
Nice choice
I agree, no silver anymore for me, only gold.
Wise choice
I'm thinking of doing the same an̈d I will be getting the 2oz stackables, but I'm going to get gold too, even my stack out
The stackables are really nice 👍🏻
Smart move. I got out of silver a year ago and into gold. Silver just isn't the investment or store of value it's touted as. It can't even keep up with inflation.
It’s a speculative metal, I think it’s under valued but I personally wouldn’t have loads of £ tied up in it. It’s a nice metal to own and can be good fun but there are better alternatives like gold for saving
@macdonaldbullion true...I sill enjoy buying the random piece here and there, just something about silver that draws me in. Like to collect a bit anymore but for stacking I'll stick with gold. Just picked up my first 1oz coin, a beautiful BU 1976 Krugerrand.
@@logosrisingbear very nice, a great gold coin to own. Universally recognised and a nice chunk of gold
I loved morgan's while living in Texas, since moving back to the UK I buy sovereigns and halfs I can't afford silver premiums gold can't be beat.
@@garryhiggs5158 understandable, I’m a big fan of sovereigns too, thanks for watching
I did this last year. Had a good stack, so I focused on smaller pieces and collectables for tax and off shore purposes (to get that part of the stack organized). I always keep an eye out for a deal (if they are giving it away), but that is the advantage of already having your stack in place. You can be choosey about what you buy and not worry if the market runs up (as you are already in).
Thanks for sharing!
The only numismatics to hold are the rare ones worth a ton of money.Everything else is just an ounce of silver. If you can imagine silver at 50 or a hundred,30 is cheap. If it does blow and the ratio goes down you would be money ahead on a trade.Patience is the key.
@@williamallen8048 it’s a metal definitely undervalued , thanks for watching
Awesome game plan!! 👍
Thank you kindly
Good move but keep an eye on Bitcoin.
😏
An interesting one for sure
I also wish i had bought more gold instead of silver, the gain on my gold coins were way better than on my silver coins and bars. BUT i am sure, that one day in the future i will be super happy that i bought so much silver and that i will wish than that i had bought more. Because physical silver is currently way to undervalued in my eyes. The industrial demand is steadily growing bigger and bigger, while the production rate of silver is not keeping up with the demand. It seems that the biggest problem of silver is that too much paper silver is created from thin air. I read that between 250 to 400 ounzes of silver only existing on paper are backed from only one ounce of physical silver.
It’s undervalued for sure, owning silver is a wise choice 🙂
first time seeing your video but great content. i myself have moved to gold from silver bullion. i thought i loved silver but then bought my first gold and oh my!! im hooked haha. keep stacking
Thanks for watching 🙂
It’s been said time and time before on stackers social and other channels that you need to study the information first before you start stacking and work out what your strategy is going to be,it can avoid disappointment down the road👍
@@Pureblood10000 I get what you’re saying, it’s ok for strategy’s to change, I’m not disappointed in any way changing strategy, I enjoy stacking nevertheless I get what you’re saying and research is important for sure 👍🏻
Should instead better to purchase Gold Britannia coins, one-ounce 999.9 purity. Whereas, British Gold Sovereign Coins are mainly numismatic coins and these days there are also many FAKES, that are "Made in China". These Fakes are of rather good quality coins, but made with sub-standard or recycled Gold, with lower purity which cannot be easily detected. Additionally, the much higher premium for the numismatic Sovereign coin often cannot be recovered unless sold through another ardent coin collector.
@@user-China1949 XRF will detect composition easily, that’s why I suggest using reputable bullion dealers that use xrf. You can pick up sovereigns at 1% premium, most best value are just a few % over spot anyway, the only high premium numismatics pieces will be proofs which I’m not really interested in unless it’s at bullion prices. Britannias are good but sovereigns are easily just as good. It’s all down to personal preference.
Why buy gold at all time high, look at the gold silver ratio, and why the hell do you buy from the royal mint 😂😂😂
@@henstar1731 gold consistently goes up and I bought this coin from the rm when I first started out, think start of 2022. I no longer buy from them
He's in the UK. No Capital Gains tax on Royal Mint silver. For most people in the UK buying anything else is madness. Secondly, you can moan about the Royal Mint and milk spotting but the Royal Mint and RCM produce the only coins in the entire world you can authenticate without a metal analytics machine. Every other coin can be faked - especially Eagles.
Me too. Moving more towards 1/2 sovs and 1/10 brits and reducing the silver a bit. Silver as everyone says is a long term hold to see any return I think. Gold however appears anyway to be a whole different level!
@@MarkB-g8x nice plan, gold is best in my view
It’s interesting I see a lot of people giving up on silver. Gold is king I definitely want to invest more into gold but will always buy silver it’s more a hobby and collecting for me and I’m not necessarily losing money so I’m happy 💪
That’s great, it’s a fun hobby for sure
Hope you have plenty of Brittanias
Silver is transactional. Gold is a store of wealth.

What’s a good price for silver per oz would you say ?
@@joshuaroberts3797 £28 or less
I've noticed it getting very hard to get an ounce for less than £30 despite price dips..its putting me off buying any at the minute but I only started stacking this year and I don't feel I have enough to stop yet. (I've never managed to save money until starting this hobby) I'm going to try and get deals by buying multiple at a time this year but my budget is minimal
Sounds like a good plan MB! Very sensible thinking. I have maybe one more year on silver then a conversion in time to gold. Great video! PS, That Morgan in the capsule is very nice!
@@SyTheSoundman thanks Sy, I’m a big fan of Morgan’s
