Like, there are women who are attracted towards a dude's height as a status symbol similar to how dudes will sometimes be attracted to a conventionally attractive woman as a status symbol. This isn't always the case, but it does happen and some don't even realize they're not physically attracted to such attributes and are instead only attracted to the social status it brings. This is mainly an issue for people who are overly focused on social status since they think how their partner looks and what their partner does/has all reflect on themselves, and so they focus on traits of partners that give themselves a good self-image. While partners do to an extent reflect their significant other, ultimately how society views your partner shouldn't be as important as how your partner personally makes you feel. There's also gendered insecurity on both sides regarding height where the trait is unfortunately associated with masculinity and feminity, and so you'll have shorter men and taller women often feeling like they're not masculine or feminine enough and think that nobody will want them. I empathize for these people in these down times since I can only imagine their struggle. I truly do hope that those people will eventually find someone someday soon.

While political marriages did happen on occasion it's more common for princesses or nobles to marry in their own region/country. Political marriages weren't that common they just get the attention like most rare things do.
And that hapsbug dude also kind of have to be a nobleman with a great swath of land and political hold. I don't think they will be all that worse off in the end. Princesses in that time were not all kidnapped or ransomed or had drastically bad married life, for the time period. Arranged marriages were normal for them, it was also kind of something they expected to happen. I dont think the present day gold diggers and such would be too opposed to be married to a nobleman or equal tbh. It was a much easier life, than say, a villagewoman born to a family of freemen, free to marry around. Both might have their perks, but given the choice most commoners would have probably chosen to be a princess than vice versa.

It really boggles my mind how some people (of both sexes) don't realise that people tend to want to date others with similar interests. Attraction level definitely is a big factor, but most people don't want a relationship with someone if they have nothing in common.
For real, I thought it was just me who thought like this. This is exactly why many “beautiful” people are married with “ugly” people and people act like thats not how it works.

I never did understand not liking shorter men - dated everything from 5'2, to 6'5, and frankly, once you're horizontal, it doesn't make much difference. Personality is far more important!

It's partially because of gender norms and social status stuff in my opinion. Like, there are women who are attracted towards a dude's height as a status symbol similar to how dudes will sometimes be attracted to a conventionally attractive woman as a status symbol. This isn't always the case, but it does happen and some don't even realize they're not physically attracted to such attributes and are instead only attracted to the social status it brings. This is mainly an issue for people who are overly focused on social status since they think how their partner looks and what their partner does/has all reflect on themselves, and so they focus on traits of partners that give themselves a good self-image. While partners do to an extent reflect their significant other, ultimately how society views your partner shouldn't be as important as how your partner personally makes you feel. There's also gendered insecurity on both sides regarding height where the trait is unfortunately associated with masculinity and feminity, and so you'll have shorter men and taller women often feeling like they're not masculine or feminine enough and think that nobody will want them. I empathize for these people in these down times since I can only imagine their struggle. I truly do hope that those people will eventually find someone someday soon.
