Aaron Pierre is a very strong actor. He alone makes me want to see this. Chandler is another reason. And the storyline as sort of a 'True Detective'-style story is the capper. I love that this isn't going too cosmic. I think too many comic book films throw everything up into world threatening menaces. A story a little tighter, even if it evolves into something larger, is very appealing to me.
Superman will have 2 post credits scenes. One will hint at the greater conflict and the 2nd will see guy Gardner dead which will lead into lanterns who investigate guy's death
I don't want them to kill guy off so fast. Or hal but I realize hal might die. But to kill both guy and Hal so soon after introduction will make the core feel too small imo plus I love Nathan fillion and Kyle but I hope they find a way to keep one of em alive
this is PERFECT!! I literally spoke about this potential casting in my review for Rebel Ridge just a week ago. He is gonna crush it. Also, if you haven't seen this dude before, watch Rebel Ridge. It is great!!
@robertjackson9005 Yeah, whenever they cast him, I saw his eyes and face stature, which is strange, similar to JEJ. He could have played him in a biopic or become Darth Vader
This is what I wish the dceu was building towards. Hopefully this show is a success and we can one day get a legit Justice League movie based off the cartoon show. I see the pieces coming together. The only question is, which Batman are they going to use.
Gunn's DC heroes include Corenswet as Superman, Alcock as Supergirl and now Pierre as Lantern. Three actors who can one day be big time stars. I am guessing they are signed for movie, television, cartoons and video game deals. Smart move by Warner Brothers. Merced as Hawkgirl is a sleeper movie star. She has worked so much over the last few years that she might get over used. She has a great chance to have a break out role as Dina next year in the Last of Us.
Perfect casting. I watched Rebel Ridge the other day and Aaron reminded me so much of John from JLA the animated series. The voice, mannerisms, looks. He's got it nailed.
John needs a better research team...the rebel ridge plot is not a conspiracy but based on an actual systematic abuse of power enabled by poor law making. Please watch the John Oliver episode on this. The director even mentioned he reference that episode.
I’m personally more of a Hal Jordan fan than a Jon Stewart fan, but one thing I like is that from the sound of it it seems like James Gunn is committed to giving each of the Green Lanterns equal spotlight, because Green Lantern is a little different than heroes like Batman or Superman, with those ones you kinda just have the OG one and that’s it, Bruce Wayne is Batman, Clark Kent is Superman etc. and whenever they *did* have other people in those roles it was always a “Passing the torch” situation, whereas with Green Lantern there’s like 4 different human ones and everyone seems to have their own preference for who’s the quintessential one, and so I think James Gunn is making it where he’s like “Don’t worry, whoever you think is the best Green Lantern you’re going to see them in this new DCU” Which I think is a cool idea because it’ll please all the different camps of Green Lantern fans
I dont think making hal jordan an almost 60 year old fan who is likey going to die in the first season pleases hal jordan fans as well having guy gardner in his 50s.
@@mutalemwananshiku4098yea but they clearly going the cartoon route and making John the main lantern dude is 30 so he will likely play John for at least a decade.
The political conspiracy in that show is something that really happens. At least portions of it do. Civil Asset Forfeiture is something that happens throughout the country and is legal.
James Gunn is known to have a fair background of the comics, it would be crazy to think we wouldn't see Kilowog if we're talking about green lanterns that aren't on earth being shown in any shape or form, him and Ganthet (not a lantern exactly but in a way)are pretty much guaranteed, we just don't know the casting. Sinestro too but can be saved to the ending if Hal is already older Having human green lanterns interacting with the alien green lanterns should be a common thing to expect, but I don't see much discussion, then to be fair it would be a Rocket Raccoon situation that seeing the character is what will hook people instead of caring about the casting
I’m calling it now the main villain is gonna be black hand. Pre black lanterns. He has connections to the blackest night. Atrocitous of the red lanterns. And is a serial killer. He’s gonna be it
Definitely not Because that's long way to go Atleast let them build up First gonna be sinestro arc yellow lanterns Don't jump over 8 steps before finishing single step
@@Abhinav-m4o black hand is actually a really old lantern villain. He was actually a routine villain for Hal dating back to the 60s his origin actually sets up a lot of the mythos such as atrocitous, Sinestro, and the blackest night. Jumping straight to Sinestro would be jumping the gun in my opinion cause u have to set up the yellow lantern Corp and who Sinestro is and why he matters. So you can do black hand pre blackest night and still set up everything saving the blackest night for a later date.
7:39 I remember from one of the DC animated movies or shows that one of the guardians of Oa was asked why earth had so many lanterns and they replied saying something along the lines of earth is home to an abnormally high amount of crisis level events and meta beings they needed to station more lanterns.
I love that they chose Aaron Pierre to be the first to portray John Stewart in live-action, Rebel Ridge is my favorite action movie on Netflix. Sadly, most likely Kyle Chandler's Hal Jordan is set up to die in this series but I hope that they do a Parallax storyline in season 2
Given the former military background of John Stewart and Terry Richmond, the character he played in Rebel Ridge I believe it helps. The murder in middle America turned intergalactic investigation reminds me in some ways of the ego vs starload scenario from guardians of the galaxy I don’t have an issue with it but that’s what I thought about when I heard the synopsis
@Mr.JakeSkywalker True but we can have more than one. Especially John Stewart a character Neal Adam’s had to fight DC to make dark skinned. But again Arron is a great actor so I’m sure he’ll do a good job.
@Mr.JakeSkywalker so because they made iris west in the flash black Wally has to be black from now on now? What kind of bs is that, just use Wallace west 💀
Remember Barry Allen was forensic chemist before being the Flash. When investigate body it has alien Tech and ring are buried somewhere on Earth!! This will really fucking cool. 💪🤘🤘
Great casting. I think the show will revolve around the coming of Darkseid. Maybe the Parademons placing mother boxes or obducting people. Not full invasion or close to it...but inklings of the main DCU story as a whole.
Yea that’s a good casting green lantern was one of my favs when I was little along w Batman statik shok spider man n I remember black panther from the old tv show i loved the captain America movie
He already has the green eyes 😂

John Stewart was one of the best parts of the fantastic Justice League cartoon, and I hope they do the Green Lanterns justice with this.
This is such great casting, he was great in Rebel Ridge and I said man he’ll be a great GL.
he is gonna kill it!!
Me too
Yes !!! Awesome movie!!
PERFECT CASTING 💚💚
They actually listened to their audience so refreshing, now watch us support this
I was rooting for Aaron man. So happy he’s John Stewart!!!
Dude when this guy was on Krypton I was like that guy could be a leading man someday!! Good for him!
Same dude I wanted him to lead
John stewart and Hal Jordan are my favorite green lanterns. I hope that the show lives up to it’s potential
this guy was born for this role
That is a great bit of casting. He's got the voice and the presence, and he's already proven his chops in Rebel Ridge.
Aaron Pierre is a very strong actor. He alone makes me want to see this. Chandler is another reason. And the storyline as sort of a 'True Detective'-style story is the capper. Yo quite an interesting theory. Is it more than just a theory? I like it regardless.
I doubt they kill Guy that quickly we need Batman to knock him out first

He is the Number one draft pick for me! so excited to see what he does with this role and beyond
Brah that’s perfect casting for those green lanterns perfect
Aaron Pierre reminds me of a young James Earl Jones
Ironic you said that. Since he’s voicing the young Mufasa in The Lion King prequel movie that’s coming out
@robertjackson9005 Yeah, whenever they cast him, I saw his eyes and face stature, which is strange, similar to JEJ. He could have played him in a biopic or become Darth Vader
He absolutely does to be honest I agree
His voice might be close enough to JL Stewart to make yall feel nostalgic
He sounds, he looks like John Stewart from my childhood JL animated series. So stoked
Before I get hyped up for the man and GL project. I want to see a trailer first. John is one of my favorite DC characters.
DC snapped him up before Marvel could.
Which is good cause he's perfect for this role I can't really see him doing anything in marvel

Hal : don't look john
Human Parallax : i always admired you, John....
