Great video! You guys always explain this stuff in simple digestible terms and you make it fun too. Anyway, I'm a runner and the day after my last run I developed that pain and tenderness in the exact spot you described on my right foot. Thing is, I did your test (several times to be certain) and no pain. The only time I feel the pain is when press down on that single point you mentioned and when I invert my foot inward. ...and of course there's a little soreness when I walk. Is it still Posterior Tibial Tendonitis?....or something else? Thanks. Again, fantastic video!

Thanks for the clear video. Is the heel raise test accurate? I have pain and numbness in that same area however no difficulty when doing one leg heel raises. In fact it feels better afterwards. I started getting sore ankles when cycling and in a bike shop I was recommended some footbeds with arch support because my feet were pronating. But after a few hours of riding with them on my right leg it felt like they were crushing my sol; initially just a pain in my arch and I said I should just get used to it but now it's also right on the inside below the ankle bone and have trouble even when walking. My heel also is hurting now.

Hi guys, I feel nothing when pressing directly on the tib post, or when doing calf raises. I can feel like a pinch when running (which increases in pain the longer I run), or when doing squats, and the area under /back off the naviculare bone can feel a bit stiff a day or two after running / squatting. I can also feel, not a pain, but like maybe more like a soreness under / back off the naviculare bone when doing ankle inversions. Does this sound like PTT to you or can it be something else?

I purchased your foot massager about 4 months ago. Unfortunately it doesn’t help with my PTTD as the massager focuses underneath feet. It doesn’t help relieve tension on PTTD painful area. The massager is particularly designed for Plantar Fasciitis, which I don’t have. I was diagnosed by my podiatrist for PTTD. It is really sad that your foot massager doesn’t work for PTTD. I really can’t return the massager because I ordered from Canada and I don’t want to go through the return hassle.

The pain finally started improving but yesterday it came back! Any ideas? It don’t think it’s gout. Sometimes the pain is in the base of my foot but not as bad as the toe pain. Way to keep us in suspense....broke my navicular bone (small but hurt like hell) about a year ago was finally diagnosised in Sept. ...Oct bone frag taken out scar tissue removed from PT tendon and then reattached with titanium. It's been a long journey but back to hiking 4-5 miles twice a week , have increased pain in that area, actually the heel and just beneath my big toe ....what's up with this? Need to strengthen ? Guess I'll have to stay tuned. I credit my best recovery to swimming 3x a week an hour each time ....not water walking actual kicking flipping my feet really worked. Thanks for the vids 😀

I have had a constant pain (2-3 level) in my foot and leg for almost two years, but recently it has been spiking to a 6-7! Any advice on what to do for this? I have very high arches and am not sure if that is contributing to this pain.

The meat of the muscles as they say can also ache, as can the outer aspect of the ankle and across the area where you’d tie a bow of your laces. I’ve been told that’s other muscles being strained as they try to compensate for your arch dropping.
I’ve ground great relief with kinesiology tape. It’s stretchy. Use a 35cm piece and apply first 3cm without stretching just below your little toe, on upper surface of foot, with the long piece of tape hanging off the outer edge of foot below little toe, then stretch the rest round under the foot obliquely and emerge from under the arch on inner side, then stretch it up and along the path they showed, red, up the line of the muscle towards knee. I also like to split/ cut the length of tape in half from above the ankle and upwards, and take that other half part up and across the shin at a diagonal. Apply last 3cm ends without stretch to anchor it. So all ends are not stretched but in between is stretched.
This is then like a J shaped hook under your foot. It supports the arch and gives the tendon a rest. Bliss! Less pain. Keep it on. I have a subscription for the stuff on Amazon! Wide Zinc tape can also be used, which isn’t stretchy, but still try and pull taught, but that brought me out in a rash!

I’m 30 and the inner sides of my feet are sore to the touch from the very bottom of my tibia (just after the hump at the end of it) all the to the halfway part my my foot.
The pain is worse in the left foot but is present in the right foot with the same symptoms just not quite as tender to the touch. Mine really only hurts when I apply pressure to the area and no other time.
I am overweight and work an office job so I don’t get a lot of exercise. I’m wondering if i have this problem. Can anyone tell me based on my description please?
P.S I had some very minor swelling in my left foot over the tender area a day or two before before the tenderness existed.
P.S my foot didn’t hurt when I did this test but I could not hold the position for very long without losing balance. However, if I bend my ankles inward then that inner area of the foot is very stiff. It’s not as stiff since the swelling went down though but it’s still stiff and a little tender to bend my ankles inwardly.
I’m about to do another epson salt + warm water small tub bath for my feet like I did when they were swollen up (granted the swelling was VERY minor in them but I tend to freak out over everything related to my health to the 10th degree. I try not to but I just can’t help it.)

My left foot is swollen exactly at the insertion. Had this for 2 years+
Pain is severe now. Actually switches between mild discomfort to severe pain since 2016.
When I stand straight the left foot faces outward unless I take a conscious effort to straighten it.
Do you think I am suffering from tendonitis?
    Thanks

Trade2 Win I have the same issue on my right foot. Has been swollen for a few years but a few months ago I started having pain. Like you it changes from discomfort to extreme pain. My podiatrist said it’s most likely posterior tibial tendinitis. So I just started physical therapy.

Hi, so ive already asked you two a few questions, i had injured my ankle and developed this posterior tibial tendonitis. Just these past few days i started running again. I am able to sprint with no pain and i now passed the hop and jump test. The only thing i have left is a pain on the inside of my ankle, so basically in the ankle bone and the posterior tibial tendon when i am at the deepest point of dorsiflexion. Is this just a mobility issue? Or what do you think it could be? Thank you in advance.

Did you ever get your ankle issue resolved? I have exactly what you describe. No pain while running, only deep dorsiflexion right behind malleolus on the inside.

@@rileyhernandez1872 So this was a long ass time ago but from what I remember, what really helped out (and basically anytime I had an injury on the inner side of my ankle) was doing eccentric calf raises. So basically just stand on the edge of a stair or some sort of platform. Go into a calf raise with both feet, take away the good ankle and very slowly come down with the bad ankle until it goes lower than the platform. And repeat. I think at the time I just had built up scar tissue from the actual injury so working it out past the range of motion helped break it up.

Is there something else that causes similar pain? I have pain in the same spot you are pointing to but i can be in a toe raise with no pain and only feel pain if i really get up on my toes and even then its not bad. What really hurts is when i do an achilles stretch where you bend your knee down, the entire section on that inside of the foot is in pain and i cant get too far down. I can walk and jog in a straight line with no pain, but once i run hard and put a lot of pressure on it it hurts, so tryig to jump high and sprints are painful. and also making turns towards the hurt foot is very painful in that area too. The exercises for this problem havent been helping me much so im not sure if it is something else. I sprained my ankle 1 1/2 months ago and played through it up until 2-3 weeks ago that i have been resting it

    • @ajjimenez4701
      @ajjimenez4701 7 років тому

And actually i can jump with no pain from a standing position. Its really only the whole bending at the knee where the inside of my ankle starts to hurt really bad

I have similar problem, but I can run, sprint and actualy do horizontal jumps without pain, but during High jump take of it gets so bad it feels like my ankle could break, and often in the morning my ankle and achiles tendo is very stiff.

  • @shirapn46

Thanks for making this! I was able to go on my toe without any pain really (tiny bit but no problem standing that way) - but it hurts to walk normally, like if I put any weight on the inner bottom of my foot (the side of the pain, like any weight on my big toe or that side) this area under the ankle that you point to in the video hurts, I have to walk with all the weight on the outer side of my foot. could it be just minor posterior tibial tendonitis or injury? I'm resting it with ice and ibuprofen, just don't want to make it worse

Not always true about people who have this not being able to do a calf raise. I see this statement from a LOT of different, legit sites too. I have this. I knew I did and an MRI just a few days ago has confirmed it. I can absolutely do calf raises. In fact I typically do 50, one legged calf raises on stairs, 3x/week. I can still do those with minimal pain.
