I have had it done before and OMG the relief is real. Fasciitis issues will return after awhile but with regular use and stretches will keep it at bay.
Great video, I need to try that for my feet, but I feel like I’ve beat my PF. It got so bad like some of the others’ commenting on here. So what helped me? Stretches in low deep wide squats to stretch out the soleus and achilles, just basically sit in that low squat position ESPECIALLY right after running, don’t wait until after you’ve cooled off. Massaging the heel and underfoot in a very aggressive manner, for example using the thumb and pressing and kneading into the heel. It HAS to be uncomfortable or it won’t work, do this until you feel the tension release, also pressing the thumb, a hard small ball, or your fist’s balled up knuckles into the heel and underfoot, hold it until you feel the tension release and it will release eventually. Doing slow and exaggerated ankle rotations, so that you can feel the tendon that runs under the heel stretch out, as well as the calves. Cold to hot leg baths, or while in the shower, use the hand held and spray your legs/calves with freezing cold water then back to hot, then cold then hot…you get the idea, to get the blood moving and to reduce inflammation. I really don’t like the water therapy part lol so I do that very seldom but I find it’s beneficial, especially after sprinting. I have a terrible time with spraining my ankles, and I think wearing bad shoes and terrible running technique that those were factors in my PF and the start of a heel spur. I stopped running for several months, and worked on my feet. Then spend a pretty penny on Hoka One One shoes, and gradually built up my running distance again. NO foot pain, mild stiffness if I’m sitting too long but such an improvement to have no pain!! You’ve got to massage the hell out of those heels and feet, that it MUST hurt, I mean, be uncomfortable or it’s not going to do anything! Aggressive massage for the feet, great shoes, and improve running/walking posture.
I have been to at least 3 orthopedic and/or podiatrist’s over the years and no one has ever done this or even mentioned stretching exercises. Thanks for the info

I thank you VERY MUCH for your video. I'm thinking that I might have the darn PF myself, especially in my left foot. I liked how you address issues of tightness in the foot. I'm trying to avoid the shots. A local friend of me told me that the cortisone shots can make a grown man cry. I watched videos on this and the needles themselves aren't that bad (22 to 27 gauge). I guess it must be WHERE the put the needle at and/or the substance itself being brutal. I myself can almost not even feel a 25g or smaller needle, at least not when I get an IM injection into the deltoid muscle. On the other hand, I am a strong proponent of massage therapy and such. I think I might share this with my local massage therapist. She attempted some massage on my feet, including cupping, but it didn't seem to really help much, if any. I'm currently using some Dr. Scholl's insoles recommended by the Dr. Scholl's kiosk. I am currently using CF430. I think they're helping SOMEWHAT. Again, thank you for this video. May God's peace be with you--in the name of Jesus, but may the PF get transfer to the devil himself--in both feet and multiplied in severity by at least 1,000X ! It's actually the volume injected that's the real source of pain, 3ml or so which may seem like nothing but it's 1/2 teaspoon or more into what is normally a tight space so the sudden increase in pressure into a solid piece of your foot is what really causes the pain, neither then needle or the medication. As soon as the lidocaine or other local anaesthetic kicks in that pain will go, but as it's done as a single shot with the cortisone mixed in with the local, the kicker is the sudden volume increase. I had shots in the front of my feet for Morton's neuroma but also get PF on and off and have orthotics which do help. I go barefoot indoors though as my cat is always getting stepped on otherwise and I hate having anything constricting on my feet so that probably doesn't help things. Always stretch your calves, no matter what. At least 3-4 days a week, like forever. I try to remember by doing it when I'm brushing my teeth. Electric toothbrush has 4 x 30 second cycles to do your mouth quadrants so I do stretches for 30sec each side and also do about 6-8 ankle raises, holding the wall with the hand I'm not brushing with! Be sure to do both upper and lower calves though!
Deltoid IM injections are a bit different as there's no bones and fewer nerves there so you don't feel as much pain as the sudden surge of volume expansion in the tight spaces of the feet! For the exercises I mentioned , just look for "Plantar Fascia Standing Heel Raises" and combine that with "Plantar Fascia Standing Calf Stretch (gastrocnemius and soleus muscles)" both from NHS Ayrshire and Arran as they are the simplest to keep doing regularly as a preventative to keep PF and ankle tightness in check. At first though you may need to do more intensive daily routines and also do the under-foot rolling to stretch and massage the plantar fascia themselves but I find the standing calf and heel stretches and raises are something I can keep doing regardless of pain and it helps ensure the calves don't get tight again! Disclaimer - I'm not a podiatrist or physical therapist, but I used to be a pharmacist before chronic illness made me retire from that, so the different types of injections, their volumes and routes of administration is something I do understand, plus I've had personal experience of steroid shot in my feet and had deep IM hormone depot injections when I was younger. The latter definitely did not hurt like the feet ones did! I also have 5+ years experience of PF and Achilles tendinopathy and have seen a physical therapist intensively to help with the feet issues and seen several podiatrists for gait assessment/orthotics etc and found what was easy to manage as preventative exercises ongoing. A lot of people (myself included) usually stop doing daily physical therapy exercises when the acute pain goes away. You do have to keep up the stretching to the calves especially, as otherwise it is bound to recur! I also found the video very interesting re: taping - not something I've tried myself but I will definitely investigate should I have further, more severe PF and refer myself back to see the physical therapist! :) The stretching and massage elements I was already aware of through my own research and experience! I never had cortisone shots for my ankles or PF though, I think you can probably manage without if you see a PT and get appropriate exercises and also suitable orthotic inserts! Hope you find lasting relief!
@@MargevonMarge That's interesting how you explained the issue of VOLUME in regard to the shots in the foot. That makes sense. I do know that different areas of the body are limited to how much you can inject into them. I thank you for your explanation on stretching the calf muscles. I've done some massage therapy on myself, pushing inward on the Achilles tendon and had a little bit of success here. I've had 2-3 people mention about rolling my foot over a cold water bottle. I hear that this may need to be done a few times a day. What's really funny is that it's uncomfortably cold only for maybe a half a minute or so. The foot seems to QUICKLY adapt to this, and it's no longer too uncomfortable. I tend to roll on this while watching the news. As for stretching the calve muscles, this is also great for helping to prevent Charlie horses upon waking up. If I catch a Charlie horse coming on, I QUICKLY stretch this, which feels counterintuitive. However, I found it VERY CRITICAL to keep trying to stretch this, for this greatly limits the damage caused by the Charlie horse. It can also knock the resulting pain down by about half. Anyway, may God's pace be with you--in the name of Jesus! As for PF and Charlie horses, may those be transferred to the devil and made at least 10-100 times worse! From John Nozum
I've had a cortisone shot in my right foot 15 years ago. It was the most painful thing ever. The needle to inject the anesthesia was the killer because the Dr kept moving it around through that area. Just horrific. It ended up helping but God, was very painful and I'm a big dude that has decent pain tolerance
@@BillBene67 I thank you for sharing your horror story with us. I'm sorry to hear that it was hellishly painful for you getting this injection. That sounds more like something fit for the devil himself--but maybe with a much bigger needle, too!
Mines been bad for about 8 months now. I can only run once a week typically a Saturday so I can recover to some degree and not be crippled at work. I'm on my feet all day as I'm a carpenter. I'll have to try this. Thanks.

@@DrDeFabio Thanks for your answer. It's so hard to find a physiotherapist here. And a good one, even more!! Long waiting lists. I haven't found a good chiropractor, alas. Nor osteopath. Still searching... Been years of multiple tries... Ugh!! But, your tools seem helpful. I wanted to try and use them at home. I've been using a table spoon, and it does help!
I had it so bad I had to get a cane...I think I got it from bad shoes..I went out and bought a good pair of 120 brooks shoes from a running shoe store. It has helped tremendously....
Do NOT power through the pain. An Achilles tendinitis can become a full blown degenerative tendenosis… My BIG mistake. Suffered 7 months, maybe healing slowly; HOKA, Ooofos, PT, deep massage, foot soaks, stretching, foot rest until much more healing🤷🏼♀️🥃 My poor 🐶
I had pf a yr ago. Went to podiatrist, got a compound formula made up by a pharmacist, used it for 2 weeks and it went away. I was supposed to use it for a month. One visit and I had been suffering for like 7 months for nothing. I threw away my new runners as they seemed to be the problem. The podriast got me in and out of his office so fast I thought he didn't really care but I guess I was wrong.
I cannot remember what the compound formula was. It was in New York. Just recently I was shocked to learn I has osteoporosis. Looking back it was probably osteoporosis. Please do a DEXA scan. Protect yourself
I've been suffering from plantar fasciitis pain on and off for 5 years and I've pretty much tried everything, including chugging down cataflam and voltaren, countless physio sessions, and corticosteroid therapy.
This is not medical advice. Explore electrolytes and magnesium citrate and a whole panel. Has anyone released your hamstrings or looked at your body mechanics at as a whole? (top to bottom?). I work with a lot of runners and many refuse to stop running until the issue is resolved or don't accept they can't go beyond a certain mileage. I think it's a great injustice to stop at the knee and not look at stability issues, nutritional, etc. This is a whole body issue.
Acutely, I took aspirin before bed to alleviate the pain I had walking upon wakening. It works very well (Tylenol did not work as well.) Orthotics for arch support and heel cushioning along with prescribed exercises has made my PF manageable. I cannot be on my feet in footwear without proper support, or I regress. My achilles and calf muscles still feel very tight and I have to work on them daily. I am passing along the aspirin idea to help those who are really suffering until they can get some relief from good footwear and treatment.
I am pretty sure he isn’t. However his video and client feedback let’s me know he is one of the best. When you have that kind of pain you want to go with the person you feel can do the job properly. He allowed us to see his expertise here. That eliminates the headache of finding a suitable doctor.
@Jason Smith, this video has nothing to do with chiropractic. He mentioned 'chiropractic' at the end of the video, but the technique he showed us was myofascial release. It looked effective. but if you go to a chiropractor, they're going to try to align the vertebrae in your spine. Most of them probably won't even do this sort of myofascial release massage. Probably better to search for a massage therapist or physical therapist who's willing to use this sort of technique.
Graston's has been a life-saver for me. When utilized along with proper massage therapy and exercise I have been able to finally relieve 95% of my chronic pain. Thank you for the video.
I have very painful lump in middle of bottom left foot. I bought gel pads but they hurt it worse. Are they supposed to be out under lump or are they just for arch suppor
Medial arch supports go under the arch, metatarsal pads go behind teh distal metatarsal heads and neuroma pads go under the metatarsal heads. See a local Sports Chiropractor and get the right diagnosis and pad.
I had compound fracture on left ankle, I am now 3mos later in a boot but a the plantar fasciitis is horrible, cannot stand any weight on the heel, the ankle doesn’t hurt at all. I will try what you are saying here. Have had heel spurs 6yrs ago but kept up with the exercises against the wall.
Thank you so much for this video. I had plantar faciitis for around 9 months it had just started to get better and i tried whats shown in the video and i tell you my ankle is recovering sooo fast! i have started exercising too!
I have extremely high arches, and I think I just developed this condition in my left foot. It hurts like hell just above my arch, on the inside of my foot. I naturally rolled the foot over my wooden cylinder that I use for my hands, helped heaps. I’m rubbing ‘deep heat’ all over my foot, it is giving me some relief, but not much. It came on all of a sudden, I don’t get it. Why does it happen like this???
I soap my feet in Epsom salt. Dansko is the only shoe I can wear but not all day. I have very high arches. My feet feel like they are burning, on fire to the point I take my shoes off for relief. I have had my swell up foot burning cant get my foot out of my shoes.
The heat did not work for me. Icing with a frozen bottle did get rid of inflammation. I did it for 15 to 20 minutes, wearing socks 3 times per day. Go to a podiatrist to get properly diagnosed. Getting proper shoes and orthotics. The doctor can give you exercises to stretch the calf. Do these exercises on both feet. Hope this helps.
Wonder where you office is located? Thanks for the video, looks like a protocol that would work for me. I had the graston tool used on me and I loved it.
Does that help if you have a Baker's cyst on the back of your knee? I have been diagnosed with plantar fascist issues and also have a tarsal tunnel in my left foot. I had it in my right foot but I had surgery for that one. But I've been having major issues with my left knee and the front above my kneecap. I have noticed that I have a huge lump on the back of it. My feet constantly hurt I have tried orthotics but it just seems to make it more painful. I do have the black brace that they gave me at the foot doctor before but it's kind of dead because the air pump doesn't work anymore. And I've had those graston massages before on my back and those helped so much. So I wasn't sure if that would help my knee pain and help break up the bulge in the back of my knee.
I have a heel spur and doctor said I had plantar fasciitis too. He made custom insoles for me and I’ve been using them inside Hoka sneakers everyday but my heel, ankle and arches hurt so much. He put a cortisone injection on my heel before I went on a trip and it helped but pain is back. Should I go and get a second opinion?
Every morning when I take my first step out of bed, tears fill up my eyes due to pain..takes me atleast 5 min to massage it and continue walking..my job is like 8hrs of walking plus I was overweight so more pressure..So I went to my physician and got a Cortisone injection to the heel and the pain died in a minute..then exercised for a year and lost lot of weight, been pain free for 7 years..I wouldn't even wish it for my enemy
Great Video clip! Sorry for butting in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you thought about - Mackorny Feet Ahead Blueprint (should be on google have a look)? It is a great one of a kind guide for Relieving foot pain without the hard work. Ive heard some super things about it and my old buddy Taylor at very last got amazing results with it.
tamdin wangyal if you want it gone for good!! Get a good roc and massage the area where it hurts and it’s really gonna hurt horrible but do it till the pain is gone for good and no more heal spurn.
GoGreenThen Queen I got the shot about 6yrs ago and I’ve been pain free ever since. I swear it’s like I never even had plantar fasciitis. When I got the shot the dr said she typically has people come back weeks later for a follow up shot to make sure it’s gone completely I never went back and never needed to. It fixed the pain immediately. I tried all that crap with the rolling a bottled water or golf ball under my feet and none of it didn’t anything other than waste my time.
Hey Dr Defabio, that was pretty cool what you did there....where are you located? ....and what is your expertise...orthopedics...podiatry ...other? I've had this ailment for years, mostly under control. I wear a custom-made orthotic insole similar to that one you showed, a cast made by my foot doc some years back. Anyhow, sadly, I cannot wear cute summer flats or high heels or flat slippers...at all. Maybe only for 30 mins to 1 hour or 2 hrs. ..it depends on what my foot can withstand. ..or on the show, I'm not sure. All I know is I need arch support otherwise it hurts, A LOT! The orthotic can't be used in just any pretty shoe...such as open (summer) sandals/ flats. Will this you demo. above heal it forever, where I won't need to wear them anymore after this quick & painless procedure you demonstrated for us? Or no? :)
This really is the worst pain. I had a tumor in my throat and had a huge part removed including my voice box and I would go through it again just to get rid of my planter fascists. I wanna cry and scream when im at work. Don't buy orthotics it doesn't do a damn thing. Mine cost me 600$ and I had no insurance

I'm in physical therapy for plantar fasciitis, what tape did he use?
Leukotape
This is the approach I use and it works very well
Hello from london. Patricia. I am a personal podiatrist searching for mew clients. Would you have face book or instagram?
Or an email? @patriciabolsover
Hello-
Do you do this yourself or have it done in the office?
Mines been bad for about 8 months now. I can only run once a week typically a Saturday so I can recover to some degree and not be crippled at work. I'm on my feet all day as I'm a carpenter. I'll have to try this. Thanks.
Lovely video content! Excuse me for butting in, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you thought about - Taparton Walking Foot Takeover (google it)? It is a great exclusive guide for Getting Rid of Plantar Fasciitis without the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my cooworker finally got great success with it.
Where can one get those tools? I've had some relief with ultrasound therapy. 👍
It's not about the tool it is about know how to use it. Find a good chiropractic sports doc near you.

Thanks for your answer.
I’m 41 and just got this the other day, began to notice major heel pain right when I work up, I need this help!
Suffered 7 months, maybe healing slowly; HOKA, Ooofos, PT, deep massage, foot soaks, stretching, foot rest until much more healing🤷🏼♀️🥃 My poor 🐶
well done doc! we salute you.
Thanks!
What was the formula and where are you?
Whats the formula
Yes I also would like to know what the secret mix was
What is the composition?
I cannot remember what the compound formula was. It was in New York. Just recently I was shocked to learn I has osteoporosis. Looking back it was probably osteoporosis. Please do a DEXA scan. Protect yourself
Yeah doctor sb this is a very mejar problem for walking that's great 👍
Yea the lotion would loosen it. But from a orthotic stand point one of best videos I've seen
I been wearing a compression sleeve sock in my right foot, and it's working for now..
Liz Schneider So? What do you recommend then in terms of concrete doable actions? I am not a doctor but willing to learn anything.
PRP injections seem to help, basically they drw your blood out from one place, then inject it in the area.
Do Hip flexor stretches such as seated pigeon pose stretch.
Thank you very informative....
Hi ! Sir, how many times do you repeat this process and whats the frequency of repetition?
Massage helps a lot in plantar fasciitis n neuropathic pain
Cool!
Pls sir i want to know about the name of the tape, is it available in the medical shop.
Leukotape and coverall stretch. Both are readily available.
So using these metal tools is better than massage with your hands?
Hello emma
Hello. Are you located in Atlanta? I really need to visit your office for this treatment.
It's graston technique, he isn't the only person in the world who does it.
I am pretty sure he isn’t. However his video and client feedback let’s me know he is one of the best. When you have that kind of pain you want to go with the person you feel can do the job properly. He allowed us to see his expertise here. That eliminates the headache of finding a suitable doctor.
Sonya, well said. Brava!
This surely the best I seen yet basic knowledge that look like it would be most effective Chiropractic is where I will start now thanks a million!!
Follow IG; Iamjzaire and i'll put you on to the products that got me off crutches and orthopedic boots.
Hello Where can I purchase those item used in this video please?
Thank you doctor I'm a runner and basketball player and this helped me LOTS:)
thanks for the free video and advise, where are you located? thanks
Graston's has been a life-saver for me. When utilized along with proper massage therapy and exercise I have been able to finally relieve 95% of my chronic pain. Thank you for the video.
Anyone could help me where can I buy the metal doctor scrapping the feet
Wear double cusion socks and this reduce tha pain
I have very painful lump in middle of bottom left foot. I bought gel pads but they hurt it worse. Are they supposed to be out under lump or are they just for arch suppor
Medial arch supports go under the arch, metatarsal pads go behind teh distal metatarsal heads and neuroma pads go under the metatarsal heads. See a local Sports Chiropractor and get the right diagnosis and pad.
@@DrDeFabio thanks. I I will. I can’t believe how bad this thing hurts.
My pain is towards the back of my heel,up the back of my ankle. Can’t get a doctor appointment.Would one of the foot baths work I wonder?
Best ever this works

Hi, I m too facing this problem, nw hw is ur condition, what should I do to overcome this.
Doctor
What about this Ultrasound, shockwaves treatment? for PF.I’m am in a chronic condition with PF from 3 yrs .
Excellent research on shockwave for PF. Ultrasound, not so much. As with all approaches, there is a clinical skill in application, too.
Thanks for sharing 👍Very helpful

Doctor, where are you located?
Thanks man, youre the man.
And NOW YOU KNOW :"DDD
No he's the doctor
Buenas lo podían traducir a español gracias
taping stays on me 15 minutes, (unless I wear compression socks), very sweaty, lasts 12 hrs.
I have heel spur. where can I purchase the 2 tapes?
Any sports medicine supply company. Try Cramer or ScrippHesco.
Where can I buy this tape? would love to get some I can find the kiesio tape but not the rigid tape
Doctor, what do you think about cupping before grastin ?
Both treat the superficial fascia, so it would be duplicative. Winback TECAR before would be better.
Thanks Dr. I will try the tape method, probably hard to put it myself but will try.
Stretching my calves and wearing Vioncs slippers and shoes helped clear up my PF
Cool!
I SOAKED MY FOOT IN HARTZ WHITE OATMEAL DOG SHAMPOO FOR THREE DAYS & WASHED IT AND IT WENT AWAY. THAT WAS SIX YEARS AGO.
I have seen foot doctor and pain specialist dozens of times, but they never did that for me. Painful for 9 months now.
These is a GREAT VIDEO!!!🤗 Thanks for sharing!💜 c. mason
Io ho uno sperone che mi sta dando dolore, lei cosa consiglia?è d'accordo fare le onde d'urto?grazie.le sarei grata se mi può dare un consiglio
Wonder where you office is located? Thanks for the video, looks like a protocol that would work for me. I had the graston tool used on me and I loved it.
We're in Berkeley Heights, NJ.
In the kinetic chain the entire body is related mechanically. Finding the cause is the diagnostic issue.
@@DrDeFabio seeing an orthopedic surgeon next week. Hopefully they can figure something out. 😢 Been having these issues for most of my life.
@@furryplantsandcoins9070how r u now ? Please share what works for u to recover
Great video. Very knowledgeable and helpful.
The dude is a QUACK. He is for sure no physician.
The key to a second, or third opinions for that matter, is be sure the docs do not know one another at all. Good luck!
That looks so painful. If I even lightly put pressure on my heel it hurts so bad
The calf massage is very painful.
Same here
What type of doc does this???
Podiatrist
A Chiropractic Sports Doctor is your best choice

They work?
Can you get PF as a result of bunions?
It is all related!
May I know if she was already dead? Was that a cadaver?
😂😂😂
Any orthopedic does the grassting method?
Only if they want you to get results without surgery and never have it come back.
How long to recover after the scraping? 2 days? how many times should it be typically applied ?
what is the name of the metal tool he is using and how much does it cost? does anyone know?
graston therapy
Exactly! But it is not about the tool, it is about how to lengthen those tight and taught fibers.
Does the shot really work? I have to do a 1.5 mile run and my arches always hurt. I need one
tamdin wangyal if you want it gone for good!!
I tried all that crap with the rolling a bottled water or golf ball under my feet and none of it didn’t anything other than waste my time.
lovely video doc. Bless you
Hey Dr Defabio, that was pretty cool what you did there....where are you located? ....and what is your expertise...orthopedics...podiatry ...other?
Have you done Hip stretches?
i will try
That looks divine.
