It shows that Voldemort felt the same pain as Harry. This pain caused him to fear to enter Harry's mind ever again which is explained in Snape's memories from 7th book.
@@aidemaidem7328I always interpreted it as the love Harry felt for his godfather was such an awful and foreign feeling for Voldemort that it shook him loose from his control of Harry's mind. That's why the movie only line about Harry pitying Voldemort is a good addition, despite all.his power and knowledge, and material possessions that these things gained him, Tom Riddle was a sad sad man who did not know love and that ultimately made him weak.
I find it so sad when Ron Hermione Luna Neville and Ginny come rushing in and find Harry on the floor and they know they can't help him but they so want to!
Harry Potter is an unbelievably patient character, in my view. The things he has gone through, the things he has seen, and the pain he's felt is unparalleled, and anyone would go crazy. But the way he's handled all of that is just, wow, it's almost like it never happened. And he still continues to try and enjoy his childhood before all of the peril and war, and he succeeds beautifully. He always sees the good in everyone, even Voldemort, and that helped him win over. All I can think about are how he never reveals what he's going through to anybody, because he cares about them and doesn't want them to worry about him, and that's just heartbreaking. He's been suffering with survivor's guilt ever since Cedric died, and how his friends are there for him, how there are still people who love him and want to be with him is just wonderful. It's just ironic that even though he deserves the absolute best, he gets only the worst, yet he never gives up and never stops fighting for who he loves, and maybe sometimes his enemies as well. Every time I read the books or watch the movies, I can sense Harry's imminent desire to get away from everything for once, and yet the only reason his life is made up of borderline crap, is because Voldemort got a multiple choice question. Harry, wherever you are, I will never stop wishing for your happiness, and you have earned my true respect from the bottom of the heart. To Harry Potter, the boy who lived! P. S. Here's to Daniel Radcliffe, we could never ask for a better Harry Potter!
I agree with you but I was traumatize when Harry was in pain but him got possessed by voldemort in the age of 15 year old I remember seeing that since I was 20 years old back in 2021
what exactly were his friends supposed to do at that moment? Go over there and say "Hey Harry" get your shit together" no. He was being taken over by voldemort. This was a battle Harry had to fight ON HIS OWN. His friends did help him, just not physically.
Sarah H isn’t that the point? Harry’s Inner Battle? Of course he did it on his own. He was in a lot of pain. That’s why it isn’t named Harry and Friends defeat the bad guy once again! Jeez people are dumb
@@antonraulpen yea people complain about them showing no emotion there but the way I see it is that they're in shock. Harry is POSSESSED by Voldemort it makes perfect sense that they would just stop in their tracks when they saw that
His friends were the primary reason why Harry could invoke those emotions that drove Voldemort away. That invisible link is what Love is. Voldemort doesn't understand the magic as he believes that vulnerability = weakness..... This is true only for material things like money or artifact but not for Humans. Instead, it only makes Harry more powerful.
"You're the weak one... and you'll never know love. Or friendship... and I feel sorry for you." I keep repeating that in my head, and it makes me cry EVERY SINGLE TIME.
IMO this is the best scene in the whole series. Really captures the mortal human being Harry is and his growth as a character, in the first couple movies I can kinda see the argument that he's a bit of a Mary Sue who just stumbles into everything but definitely not by this point, and this scene really cements that. He's clearly already an emotional wreck throughout this whole movie, constantly treated like he's too young to fight for himself and gets used and neglected by people like Snape and even Dumbledore, then on top of everything has to watch the closest thing he's ever had to a father die right in front of him. And yet he has the strength to not only stand up for himself but take the higher road while he's being possessed by the literal personification of evil. There's not a more powerful moment in this series and it's just so perfectly executed... the flashback montage, the background music, the acting, just an absolute cinematic masterclass all around.
I think that this is a metaphors for something dark inside you or major depression or major anxiety you can only defeat it if you remember all the things that you're proud of and the things that keep you going which in both of Harry and my cases, is our family and friends, and love and hope and not to give up to remember that those things are all you need right now
I was suffering from chronic depression and anxiety for the past two years until I started binaural beats therapy and it literally felt like all those negative thoughts and feelings left my body. I watched this a couple days ago and started crying because this scene really did describe that moment.
I KNEW I wasn't the only one to notice that! It's supposed to be this dramatic scene of an intense battle of the minds as Harry is tortured by his greatest foe, but that single "teh" nearly killed me with laughter
This scene is a literal heartbreak I can still remember how I bawled seeing Harry in so much pain and it was terrifying how Harry has somehow became snake-like at the way he glided and lifted his body up at 00:47
This is a metaphor for something dark inside you; mental health for instance. And when you fight it, it will stop. Harry is battling with his conscious (voldy).
Harry is so accepting of death that it is amazing. He welcomes it. Just like in the story of the three Peverell brothers. The last brother welcomed death like an old friend and so Harry welcomes it because he would be able to see his parents and Sirius. And he was always so brave that even Voldemort admitted in the first book that he was as brave as his parents who faced him when they died. And Harry at the end of the Goblet of Fire decided to not hide behind the grave stones and die on his feet facing Voldemort just like his father did. The goosebumps that I get when I read these scenes!!
Rowling has said that this is the biggest difference between him and Voldemort. To be a master of death is being able to embrace, not going to such lengths to avoid it, and that makes Harry stronger.
I just reread this scene in the book recently and, wow. Just wow. It read that he was in so much pain, that he just wanted Dumbledore to kill him, to stop it, so he could be with Sirius. And how even through the immense pain he was experiencing he still thought of Ron and Hermione, of all the good times he’s had with them, it was truly shaking and devastating. The Order of the Phoenix book is truly so underrated, just because people said it was “too long” or “Harry was annoyed and angry the whole time”. The people who have said that, clearly didn’t see the beautiful story and reasoning that was lying in the book. He had watched his parents die, experienced an abusive upbringing, had to constantly be cautious and aware of Voldemort so he couldn’t have a REAL life, watched his friend die and blamed it on himself, all in his 15 year of life, just for people to say he was an angsty teen?! What?! His life was a constant caution, and he may have been the boy who lived, but he never really lived. He lived to die. But somehow he was still stronger than one of the most famous wizards of all time. Because of the love he held, because of the friendships he had, and because of the people who loved HIM. And that right there is a powerful book.
Another reason people hate it is because of HARRY AND CHO . Two kids lost someone close to them and were suffering from PTSD and their romance suffered because of the issue. What's so bad about this ?!!
Such a beautiful scene!I love the editing and the special effects. But I wish his friends would show a little more emotion while watching him lying there fighting Voldemort within him.
Extract from the book of this scene for those who haven't read it :) I love how Harry is holding his wand through the whole possession scene but for the first time it can't help him, it's an emotional battle rather than a magical one. Beautifully executed
I'm not a huge Harry Potter fan however, this scene was really amazing. It reminded of the memory-infusion scene in Dark City. Harry Potter series definitely had some great moments and I personally liked this scene the most out of all the movies.
Such an amazing scene Daniel did it sooo well he really showed all the emotions that Sirius's death made him feel. Harry went through so much and still had those happy thoughts, why? Because he appreciated every moment of happiness. Daniel did SPECTACULAR portraying this love him!💖💖💖💖💖💖
Everybody sees Harry Potter as a story of magic, going to Hogwarts, adventure with Harry. But many has forgotten the meaning inside. The only thing that Harry Potter is trying to bring out is love. Love in a family, love in friendship, love in romance. He got the power to fight back because he remembers every good memory of being with his friends, his godfather, even the only time he meets his parents not even alive, facing the mirror. This is how pure Harry's heart is. He doesn't desire power, he only desire the safety of everyone, not just the good side, but everyone. Good side, bad side, all are people. A life loss is a life loss, no matter a good lif eor a bad life.
Who's here after hearing Michael Gambon passed? I'm trying not to tear up while watching this scene, how I can relate battling darkness and seeing Dumbledore console Harry in his darkest hour. I think I'd give anything to hear that voice in my time of need when my war with evil is at its sorest.
This is such great acting. As Dumbledore says, love is the only thing that could defeat Voldemort. The people Harry sees are the only people who ever cared for him without any expectations in return; Lily, James, Sirius, Ron and Hermione are the only ones who loved him unconditionally, without expecting any personal gain, the only ones who would've given anything for him, the only ones who put themselves in mortal danger for him multiple times. Harry's feelings show who he truly is, held upright only by the memories and love of his loved ones. Love is the strongest weapon in the world.
This is what it's life having PTSD the pain and memories are all to real and your loved ones are forced to sit there watching you in pain trying to work through it....
'You're the weak one, because you'll never know love or friendship. & I feel sorry for you' this is where Harry exposed his most vulnerable parts. Good always defeats evil.
It's magical how after all these years and after thousands of times I've watched this scene, I still can't keep myself from crying. This inner battle of the boy who was unconsciously chosen to be the vessel for evil essence shows us how hard was this burden for him. And the fact that he still manages to beat it and lets the kind nature of himself prevail proofs his ultimate strength.
I just feel like every time I see voldemort in this scene with the cheap background and his awkward movements and "tah" just makes me crack up every time lol
Matthew Tuckman in a way it makes Voldemort a tragic character. Obviously he is a sadistic psychopath and utterly evil, but not because he chose to be evil, he never had the chance to be good, that's his mothers fault, not his.

When Harry says “You’re the weak one. You’ll never know love, or friendship. And I feel sorry for you” it gives me chills. I love that this is the main theme of Harry Potter: love conquering evil. It’s why it will forever be a classic series on par with LOTR.
Since Harry and Voldemort can communicate through their minds it's quite possible Harry knew about voldemort's past, and that his mother used a love potion on his father and his father abandoned him and then he was sent to an orphanage after his mother died. the fact that Voldemort/ Tom riddle was conceived by a love potion means he can never experience love or friendship in his life. That's probably why Harry felt sorry for him.
@@alexbarron3831Well, he actually didn't know about this until the sixth book when we get to see a bit of his backstory. Also, Voldemort murdered his father, citing how he abandoned him for abandoning him and his mother after learning she was a witch, when in reality it was because he was released from the love potion his mother had given him. Also, if his mother had raised him herself, loving and cherishing him with her maternal love, or if he had been adopted and brought up in a loving environment, Voldemort would have turned out quite differently. How different is up for debate, but definitely not into the megalomaniac he has become.
this part and the part with sirius’ death are some of the best scenes/ best acted scenes in OOTP, but DAMN, 0:50 makes me laugh everytime, just the little “deh😛”
This is one of my favorite scenes throughout the whole series. You look at Harry’s friends when they arrive and you can just see in their eyes, how sorry they feel for Harry. Every battle they have been a part of they’ve made it out unscathed, but Harry always suffers. It honestly is a beautiful scene
I think one thing some people don’t fully realize is the immeasurable evil of the spells used in these films. Seriously, I suddenly realized how bad it would feel to be possessed by another, your body controlled, tormented. Having your whole body controlled and overpowered by another person would be one of worst crimes. Imagine if you were Harry. I think some people watch these films not realizing the enormity and powerful ness of these spells, instead just thinking it as “cool” or “epic” Just trying to think how it would feel as if u were in Harry’s position, being controlled makes me realize the enormity of it all. Imagine hearing another mans words coming from your own mouth, your free will taken. Think of that, free will taken. That’s more insane than how I ever thought of it before.

"Then Harry's scar burst open and he knew he was dead: it was pain beyond imagining, pain past endurance- He was gone from the hall, locked in the coils of a creature with red eyes, so tightly bound that Harry did not know where his body ended and the creature's began. They were fused together, bound by pain, and there was no escape. And when the creature spoke it used Harry's mouth, so that in his agony he felt his jaw move." ....
_“Kill me now, Dumbledore. . . .”_
Blinded and dying, every part of him screaming for release, Harry
felt the creature use him again. . . .
_“If death is nothing, Dumbledore, kill the boy. . . .”_
_Let the pain stop, thought Harry. Let him kill us. . . . End it, Dumbledore. . . . Death is nothing compared to this. . . ._
_And I’ll see Sirius again. . . ._
And as Harry’s heart filled with emotion, the creature’s coils loosened, the pain was gone, Harry was lying facedown on the floor, his glasses gone, shivering as though he lay upon ice, not wood. . . .
crx Perfect and sad!
The "I'll see Sirius again" part always make me cry. Having to experience grief and fighting for your own will and agency, all at the same time, must've been horrible.
1:08 always has me in tears because they’re the two people who love him most in the world. And watching him in pain is clearly pain for them
I find it so sad when Ron Hermione Luna Neville and Ginny come rushing in and find Harry on the floor and they know they can't help him but they so want to!
dan’s acting is so phenomenal I CANTT
Dan was perfect for the role as harry
By multiple choice question, you're referring to the prophecy about how a child born in june will be his demise right?

I agree with you but I was traumatize when Harry was in pain but him got possessed by voldemort in the age of 15 year old I remember seeing that since I was 20 years old back in 2021
what exactly were his friends supposed to do at that moment? Go over there and say "Hey Harry" get your shit together" no. He was being taken over by voldemort. This was a battle Harry had to fight ON HIS OWN. His friends did help him, just not physically.
There was nothing his friends could do to help how could they? Jump in his body and pull out Voldemort?
+Olivia Griffith lolololoololo
Me too, it’s my fav scene.

I think that this is a metaphors for something dark inside you or major depression or major anxiety you can only defeat it if you remember all the things that you're proud of and the things that keep you going which in both of Harry and my cases, is our family and friends, and love and hope and not to give up to remember that those things are all you need right now

Brilliant acting by Daniel in this scene. Also like how Harry looks at Hermione and immediately remembers hugging her as his first flashback.
This is a metaphor for something dark inside you; mental health for instance. And when you fight it, it will stop. Harry is battling with his conscious (voldy).
Hello Hannah, how are you doing
1:00 absolute goosebumps over my body. That music and that see ron and hermione stand and live with him... Absolutely amazing

Harry is my absolute favorite character of the whole series.

Voldemort inside Harry is what anxiety and depression is like.

It's magical how after all these years and after thousands of times I've watched this scene, I still can't keep myself from crying. Since Tom was the result of a relationship through love potion he truly cannot know love, harry cut deep with that line.
1:09, That's how much important Ron and Hermione in Harry's life❤️
When Harry says “You’re the weak one.
How different is up for debate, but definitely not into the megalomaniac he has become.
this is why harry is a real hero. think about how much trauma he has gone through and he still have a heart full of love..
