We said goodbye to Severus Snape.
We said goodbye to Alan Rickman.
We all cried.
Ye- yeah tha-thats true
WHO IS CUTTING ONIONS
Frank West 😞
We said goodbye to them, but remembered them always
Yes...
When he died, it was the most saddest day of the year 2016.
“After all this time, you still miss Alan Rickman”
“Always”
Really miss him. Loved him in Die Hard 1. He made it a success.
Hell yeah
Danny Thomas hell yeah that is definitely true
@cassandra fenton The movie was fine at first. But when Alan came, that meant the it got better. But it got a bit bad when he died.
Danny Thomas yeah
In four minutes, Snape went from the most hated character in the franchise to the most beloved. Now that's good writing
It's funny cause I never actually hated him! I always thought he was a interesting looking character with a unknown story that reveald itself more in every part of the movie. But first I thought he was really on Voldmort his side so he could get to Harry but it was nothing like that. And I have seen a lot of movies with sad endings. But nothing prepared me for Snape and his secret love for Lily and then still looking after her son while Harry reminds him of James, the man that made Snape his life a living hel. Thats why they always stated Harry has his mothers eyes. His mother was the good and strong one. His father actually a bully (and a swine) 😅😂
Snape was a great perplexed character in this. He taught me that sometimes you have to sacrifice things you care about so others can live even though only you know that 😢
In the movies maybe, in the book that's not enough to forgive him.
Snape was quite insufferable in the books. Even in the movies in POA, he straight up bullies Hermoine for no other reason other than she's smart. I know people like to romanticise Snape after this movie, but damn. People really forget what he was like huh?
be went well on the kid, excpet the first 2 movies, but after that he was a protector imo.... look deep
Rest In Peace Michael Gambon and Alan Rickman. Your rolls and acting ruled phenomenally. We will miss you both.😢
Robbie Coltrane too. He may not be in this scene but let’s not forget Hagrid.
Aye they were both good bakers... their bread rolls will be missed. It's ROLES.
Sad that we lost them, please protect Maggie Smith at all cost. She's the oldest cast member in the HP franchise that's still alive
In Loving Memory Snape & Dumbledore
Roles*
Snape is truly one of the most brilliantly-written characters ever.
I can think of a few handful, but I don't disagree (y)
Might wanna add Tyrion Lannister to that list.
Zé Pequeño from City of God, and Heath Ledger’s Joker
@@overlex ledgers joker is nothing compared to complexity of snape...
@@schwartzy65 you're wrong. Snape was torn between his master's whims (Voldemort) and his allegiance to Hogwarts and love for Lilly Potter. WHY?? because he's just (and still is) a young soul who has known humiliation and power all his life, but never love.
Heath's joker is a strategic genius turned serial killer/terrorist. WHY??
... nobody knows.
So yes, you're wrong. Snape and McGonagall are my absolute favourites in the HP world, but you're wrong because they've been well developed (UNLIKE heath's joker, who BEGS to have many questions about his past answered).
Anything else?
For Harry’s entire life Severus was protecting him and he never knew it until Severus was gone and he couldn’t say thank you. The thought of that kills me
It has to be heartbreakint to harry too, mostly becaus every year he suspect about snape being bad
That's kind of what an unsung hero is.
Tigerguy 101, hoped Snape could appear in the resurrection stone scene.
I feel like Harry in the end realizes the only way he can thank Severus is by giving one of his sons Severus's name, albeit its the middle name. Albus Severus Potter.
Ty Bowden, Snap casted that patronus charm to show Harry the sword of Griffindor. I didn’t know that before I saw the dh1 last month
I always love that in retrospect, Harry looking like James but having Lily's eyes is meant to showcase that conflict Snape has in terms of how he treats Harry. From afar, the kid looks like the man who made his life a living hell for years. But face to face, eye to eye, he sees Lily. Snape knows it's not fair to treat Harry the way he does, and is reminded every time they lock eyes.
¹
Yes, this exactly!
Yea I don’t even think he bullied Harry for being Harry fr. He was just trying to get back at James. So I guess Harry had to pay for his father’s sins.
@@saucygyal6480 I never liked James I always felt he had it all, pretty boring character if you ask me
ironically, him protecting James was also cause James Potter saved Snape's life once, so he's repaying James
2:30 The way Snape’s voice comes off as a ghostly whisper when he casts such a gentle spell gives me chills
Me too but in a different way, My tears start flowing whenever I watch that scene. That scene bring me back at Azkaban the 3rd part of the series to the last one.
About to make the same comment. Beautiful decision by sound design
And i got chills when dumbeldore asked lily after all this time..
And he said - "Always"😢😢😢😢😢

"Look...at...me..."
I just realised that Snape said this because he wanted Lilly's eyes to be the last thing he saw before dying...
Yeah, I was reading through that chapter and it clicked with me why he said it and I just had to stop reading and process that for a sec
It made me cry tbh
😭😭😭
I can’t see past the tears
@hannah ???
Expecto Patronum can only be casted with happy thoughts and Snape casts it after being told the son of the woman he loved has to die. Snape is a powerful wizard.
legit.
thought of lily makes him happy
He did not care about Harry.
Or the mere thought of Harry's death made him so happy that he could create a perfect Patronous
He probably thought about lily, not that he was happy that Harry had to die
Dumbledores line of “Lily.” Is delivered perfectly. The sad sighed reaction to the realisation that snape was the darkest of horses. Amazing scene
Darkest of horses what does that mean?
@@ZephyrBW Dark Horse: A usually little known contender that makes an unexpectedly good showing. This phrase represents Snape tremendously
@@kyleclark6158 Another thing I admired of Snape was how well he played a double agent, Voldemort before killing him even thanked him for being a great servant which means Snape fooled Voldemort until the very end.
Can we appreciate how good an actor the baby who plays Harry is? Dude has me sold, little guy is crying his eyes out.
Due to laws regarding how child actors are treated, pretty much the only thing you can do to make a baby cry is make a very loud noise. You usually then have about thirty seconds to film the scene.

it's a baby...
"You've been raising him like a pig for slaughter!"
Even Snape is horrified when he realizes this, you can hear it in the delivery of Alan's voice.
The moment I realized that Dumbledore was actually a bad guy in the series. He never cared about Harry, he was using Harry as a weapon. Snape cared about protecting Harry because of Lily but Dumbledore cared about protecting Harry so he could die.
@@uhejnjd yes, i was disappointed coz he seems like he cared for harry in the furst movies, snape acted like he doesn't care but truth is he cares more than that
Jamie .Farrell
But dumbledore never intended for Harry to die.
He was specifically talking about the piece of Voldemort living inside Harry
And why do you think Dumbledore had Hermione get that PARTICULAR book in his will and testament? The book that would lead them to the deathly hallows?
Harry had to die willingly if his soul had a chance of surviving the killing curse again and Dumbledore knew there was a big chance Harry would only find out by watching Snape's memories (that's why he made sure to show him how to watch memories) so he couldn't tell Snape that Harry could survive otherwise Harry wouldn't have embraced death which is the only way for him to survive.
"You've been raising him like a pig for slaughter"
Hit me in the feels.
At that moment I wanted snape to avada kedrava his ass
Don't tell me now that you've grown to care for the boy...
"So when the time comes... the boy.... must... die?"
Meng Martinez HOLY SHIT u like Melanie too???
Meng Martinez YEAH
"Always."
That single simple word immortalized both Severus and Alan forever.
1:51 The way his face goes from worried to distraught when he sees Lily's dead body is simply amazing acting!
The worst thing is that he is never able to apologise to her for calling her mudblood
@@m1nor1ty30 according to the books, he tried. She didn't accept. I don't blame her That was her best friend. And in a way, he betrayed her. Saddest part is, she already suspected that moment would happen, with him being a Voldemort's fan.
@JabamiLain I think she might have forgiven him when he protects Harry. It's too bad we didn't have the scene where ghost snape apologised to her, and lily was glad that he do the right thing
@@JabamiLain Actually no. Lily fell in love with James the moment she saw him but because he hated her best friend, Snape, she needed an excuse to throw Snape out of her life if she wanted to be with the person she loved. So, she used this "mudblood" as an excuse to completely cut ties with him. Sometimes we say things we don't mean in a fit of anger and he did apologize, tried his best to be forgiven, so, if she really was the angel she was portrayed as, she would have understood that and forgave him after he apologized.
@@ElyonGibborshe didn't forgive him because he also called other people like that. Because it was one additional part of him being a deatheater.
And she let him choose between her and the deatheaters. Snape didn't turn his back to the dark arts. And when he called her mudblood, she knew that he chose the dark side.
The amount of regret that Harry must carry inside him that he could never even thank severus for always taking care of him kills me
@Ra lee Theres a word called "Character Development" mam/sir.
@Ra lee that’s the point lol, reason why he is actually a good character
@Ra lee it does in a lot of way lol
@Ra lee if even j k said that one of her best character was snape who are you to tell that lol
@Ra lee Snape was a complex character, yes he showed animosity towards Harry, but only because Harry looks almost exactly like James Potter, but... Snape also can't help but look at Harry like a son he and Lily would've had if James wasn't in the picture, and while I think the Jame's lookalike played a small role in his animosity, I also believe that Snape felt that Harry was spoiled, and needed someone that didn't just fawn over them, simply because he is the "boy who lived" Snape is a good character, well written and someone, readers, as they grow older could emphasize with.
Snape is essentially the main character in the story, like Harry and Tom. Only this becomes clear at the very end. Three heroes embody in reality the tale of three brothers, Harry defeats death, Tom dies due to the thirst for immortality, and Severus dies for love. For the essence of this story is death.
This just gave me a whole new perspective, thanks!
Well they are actually the new deathly hallows
Tom death for power
Snape death for love
Harry great the death himself
Wow
& some says dumbledore is death itself coz he was waiting for harry in king cross after voldemort used the killer spell on him

But we never see nor understand the sacrifices it endures to do so.
Yes he is. Severus Snape understands that sometimes you have to sacrifice things you care about so others can live on. Even though you are the only one that knows 😢

What hits the hardest is throughout the entire series, you never see Snape show any pain or emotion, he always seemed cold and lacking empathy. So him seeing Lilly die, ripping his heart out really hits hard about how much he loved her. Snape will always be the real hero of the story.
That may have been the very moment he stopped showing emotion. The tears he shed for Lilly were the last ones he would ever shed, at least until he himself died.
Even if we put emotions aside, we must appreciate how beautifully this scene is presented. The echoing godly voices of dumbeldore and snape, the cutscenes powerful enough to make us cry,the hauntingly beautiful musical score. Everything is just so damn beautiful.

The man who never smiled..the man who never showed any emotions...this 5 minute scene entirely changed perspective regarding his character...loved Lilly even after she belonged to another man and even after her death..protected harry and finally sacrificed his life for harry..the sad part is harry never even got the chance to say thank you..snape turned out to be real hero of the movie..
Harry does indeed show his gratitude in the books, not just naming one of his children after Snape, but also by insisting on Snapes portrait being reinstated in the Headmasters office at Hogwarts.
Harry will tell Snape thank you when Harry finally greets death as an old friend.
Would he say "thank you?" He knows Snape only cared about his mother. However... He knows his past, his school days, and what he's been through... So I don't know. Actually, he should say "Thanks for protecting me" lol I'm not sure if this is all correct cause I've never seen the movies and I haven't read the books in 2 years
Not just the hero of the movies but the hero of everyone's childhood who has ever read Harry Potter while growing up.
Well, Harry named his second son, the one who got his eyes as Albus Severus, so I think, Snape is smiling in the afterlife.
you know what? Snape conjuring patronus is not for showing Dumbledore she loved lily not harry, it is to DISTRACT dumbledore that in fact, he DID grown to care for harry..how come showing patronus mean anything, while Dumbledore mayve had know Snape's patronus for a long time already?
Because in the end, even it is sound bad, Snape is indeed the 2nd father he never known to have, not hagrid, not dumbledore, not even weasley's parent, Snape the only one strict enough to care for his wellbeing, prefering he does not take many dangerous and suicidal act, even if not being honest, he ready to teach harry hard magic to seal his mind from voldemort, for harry to reject it
It is a lot harder to watch these scenes knowing that both of these brilliant actors are no longer with us.

Some of his spells were my favorite in the entire series and his loyalty and what he had to do and his love were just unmatched. So beautifully written, so beautifully portrayed on screen. The half-blood Prince will always live on in our hearts
Dumbledore opened his eyes. Snape looked horrified.
“You have kept him alive so that he can die at the right moment?”
“Don’t be shocked, Severus. How many men and women have you watched die?”
“Lately, only those whom I could not save,” said Snape. He stood up. “You have used me.”
“Meaning?”
“I have spied for you and lied for you, put myself in mortal danger for you. Everything was supposed to be to keep Lily Potter’s son safe. Now you tell me you have been raising him like a pig for slaughter--”
“But this is touching, Severus,” said Dumbledore seriously. “Have you grown to care for the boy, after all?”
“For him?” shouted Snape. “Expecto Patronum!”
From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe: She landed on the office floor, bounded once across the office, and soared out of the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears.

One of the most emotional moments in any of the Harry Potter films. Brings tears every time. Can I just say how masterful the editors were with weaving Alexandre Desplat's score together with "Dumbledore's Farewell" by Nicholas Hooper from Half-Blood Prince? Once the music mourned for Dumbledore, and Snape was the villain. Now, we mourn Snape, and Dumbledore was the villain all along. Wasn’t in the books, but that little scene is visually heartbreaking and also establishes a physical connection between them without Harry remembering it, which adds to why he singles out Snape when he asks Percy about him. That “Always” will always hit home for me. It always produces a swell of emotion, feeling of loss and longing for my own past lovers. Always.
That’s exactly what it makes me feel … loss and everything it leaves behind no matter how much time has passed.
JK rowling really put her heart and soul on writing snape’s character. A truly masterpiece.
I consider this the strongest scene in the whole Harry Potter franchise. I still feel something cold running through my spine when I see it again.
This and the first half of the flashback.
Striker163 Yes, you're right. This is 'only' the half, second half of the scene. It's depressing yet so divine.
ya the best ever
I could feel a lump in my thought. When we saw the first movie, we assumed he was nothing but the potions' teacher at Hogwarts who didn't like Harry. But after his death, it was like Ginny died, or when Fred died. People think Snape's death was like a cry of celebration, but really, he was trying to protect Harry, and the only reason why he disagreed with Harry is because James Potter bullied Severus as a kid.
Only a true hero like Snape deserves a cry.
R.I.P Alan Rickman💗💗
Emoji l Gaming And that is exactly why it is important not to judge somebody at first sight.
Admitedly, it was maybe too much to ask from Harry, as he was very young at the time he met Snape. But his background (Snape's) serves as an excellent example of what it means to be too judgemental.
I think snape cared for Harry because he was the only thing left of Lily but was so angry at Harry's father a.k.a James that he lashed out on Harry but deep down he cared which is why he saved him R.I.P great actor love always.
Agreed. When he looks at Harry from a distance, he sees James. When he looks into his eyes, he sees His Lily.
How did Snape "save" Harry?
I don't think Severus ever hated Harry. He had to remain cold and distant to protect Harry. If he let his guard down, he would have foiled the plan to fool Voldemort, perhaps even so much as not being able to kill Dumbledore for it, knowing how much Harry looked up to the old Professor. As Malfoy was unable to do so, Voldemort would have stepped in and gained the full power of the Elder Wand.
So much was at risk that Severus knew he had to hide behind a shell of cold emotion and convince the other Death Eaters that he was the right choice to stand against Dumbledore. It just wouldn't have looked right for him to show anything good towards Harry, no matter how much he would have wanted to take Lily's son under his wing and teach him.
U have to remember snape loved Lily with all his heart he protects harry for Lily
K C saved him off his broomstick and his tears gave him inside info into killing Voldemort.
This is called true love. No matter how many times I watch this it still made me cry .
He loved Lily with all his heart so he protected her son with all his strength.
“Are you still gonna cry when you watch this scene?”
Me: *Always...*
I cry every time Alan Rickman cries or dies. Like Die Hard 1. Yes, he was the villain, but he was still the best actor of the movie.
Wait snape cared more for harry than dumbledote🤔
Please explain me what snape meant by saying always
I feel like a piece of my hearts missing

Snape finding Lily's body and cradling it while crying is the most heartbreaking moment I've ever watched in a film, it saddens me even if I think of it briefly. The only moment when I'm unable to differentiate reality from fiction
I've probably seen this film over 100 times and that scene still brings me to tears. I remember the entire theater balling when it came out
Totally agree, imagine the regret of not telling her he loved her all this time, only to be able to hug her when shes already dead

@@TheChiefsDude0 So, Ralph Fiennes is the worst villain in movies it seems (such an amazing actor), causing pain and suffering to even the people who watch them? lol
True 😢😢😢
makes me cry every single time. alan rickman was an incredible actor. and that shot of him holding lily's body, with baby harry sobbing in the background, and the swelling music... ugh, my heart!
The fact that Snape overcame his hatred of James Potter in order to protect the son of his first and only love just shows how truly caring and powerful he is. Even though, in Harry, he saw the face of the man who took away his one true love, he chose to look past all of that. He truly did care for harry, and that just breaks me apart every damn time.
No he never overcame his hate, he still hates James
I think overcame is a strong word. And really, James didn't took Lily away. Severus pushed her away with his choices.
@@notbothered5542Maybe, but the hatred he developed for Voldemort after what he did to Lily eclipsed any hate he ever had for James by leaps and bounds
@@notbothered5542 And had good reasons to do so. James was mean to him. But, he also was mean to Lilly, even if he loved her. If he truly wanted her to be with him, he would not have joined the Death Eeaters.
for the record, snape loathes james and it never changed till the end. this hatred made him push lily away from him because he was hurt.
snape has inflicted some degree of that hate towards harry thru his passive aggressive behaviors, but i think we can conclude that he does still have a certain amount of care towards harry because he's lily's child after all, whom he dearly love.

This scene gives me chills everywhere. The music in the background, Snapes and Dumbledores voices and the whole conversation is truly inspiring. The way Snape says „Expecto Patronum“ touches my soul.
Snape being a double agent is already a great plot twist. But the reason why he's a double agent is just masterful writing and character development. Snape is truly one of the greats when it comes to fictional characters.

@@wildeskompositum9556 He's obviously talking about the fact the James Potter was just a generic cool-guy-bully
James was a bully. He was an airhead. I kind of ship Lilly x Snape.
I don't like James either. Such a bully!
This scene made me cry a lot , it really shows you how tragic and painful love can be.
It makes me cry that poor baby harry was looking at his dead mom and dad on the floor. His poor face was full of confusion.
“Mama, wake up!”
Dumbledore: "after all this time..."
The meaning of this is deep. Snape was looking after, caring and protecting Harry as best as he could during the hole series. Truthfully, he didn't care that Harry was James son as he let it shown in the previous movies, but he cared about Harry because he was Lily's son and that meant everything for him. That was the extent of his love.
He didn't love Harry as much though, but rather loved Lily so absurdly much that even though he despised the father and didn't like the boy he still gave up everything he had in his life just so her son at least would live.
@@Mant111 Did you know that Snape was a spy? Snape was risking his life if he created an impression that he respects Harry grudgingly then he would be in trouble.
@@klaudiagrob He cared for "Lily's son", not Harry as a person. He protected him because he was the last living connection to Lily, not because he particularly liked Harry. He was basically protecting her legacy but would've done the same for any other boy.

Finding out that Snape sent the Doe to Harry was so heartwarmingly revealing. This collection of scenes, and scenes like when he jumps from Hagrids arms alive and ready to fight are true works of art. Goosebumps just thinking about it!

When my friends forced me to marathon all the Harry Potter movies, i always thought Snape was hiding something and couldn't understood his 'hate' to Harry but still he became my favorite.
When he died i was sad, but after watching this scene I've got up from the couch and yelled "MY MAN!" it was the only reaction i gave throughout the marathon..
Alan Rickman did a fantastic job by portraying Snape R.I.P to both.
10 years of casting, acting, production, sets, make-up, effects, CGI, directing, story, fans, thrills laughter and tears reach their climax in these 4 beautiful minutes
I remember seeing this in the theater and being absolutely floored. Literally NOTHING else in the series tugged at my emotions the way this scene did, and Alan Rickman brought it to life perfectly ❤
I felt the same exact way the only other movie to give me that same feeling was Hunger games and Star wars revenge of the sith
I was crying, even though I had read the book before and knew all that they were going to say. It’s one of the best moments in Yates movies in the series.
Even when i first read the book i wept at this part, and then again when we learn harry named his son after him.
Me too I remember seeing it when it came out, and I heard so many sniffles 🥲
I knew what was gonna happen because I read all the books , yet I still couldn’t contain myself from breaking down in the theatres
First Alan Rickman Now Michael Gambon Rest In Peace To These Fine Actors
Snape holding Lily's dead lifeless body and crying because he loved her very much always makes me cry inside and out
😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔
Everybody is quoting the 'always' thing here, but after all these years I've noticed something that made my heart shatter down. Firstly music is brilliantly done so that contributed to things.
The way Snape said 'expecto patronum' a whisper portraying his anger towards dumbledore, hurt and love he's felt all those years. It came out so beautifully broken, just consider it guys.
And that he waves his wand in a way he never did before. It was not his style, but Lily's.
Certainly a moment that stands out
And to cast a patronum spell, you need to think of a pleasant memory, sth that brings up hope in your soul... the only good memory snape ever had was lily... and that's why his patronus animal was like hers.
The music is also the same that was for Dumbledores death.
could it be that for him to cast the patronus he needs to think about lily since its the only pure joy he had in his life? Therefore why his patronus is hers.
“Harry…. Mumma loves you. Daddy loves you” always gets me and makes me cry every time.
Even though that's not a Snape memory but only between Lily and Harry.
Me too
When you understand that this is the shield charm she incantates that protects Harry. Of course, the sacrifice was the final, but this is when it begins to work
She says dadda
For a man who rarely shows emotion, him breaking down at Lilly’s death like he had lived 100 years of misery shows how honorable he was in the end. Even going far to protect Harry for the sake of Lilly.

my friends say I resemble his face a lot but I can never imagine having the voice which is the hardest part to do with the sadden face that Alan rick man give us
More than the core trio this is my main hesitation for the new HBO series. I think you can recast Harry, Ron and Hermione, but how on earth do you recast snape? Or characters like Mcgonagall, Molly and Remus for that matter
1,000% agree. Severus Snape could not possibly have been played by anyone else.
Alan rickman was already a legend when he casted as snape
The scene where Snape is holding Lily, crying, with baby Harry in the background is, in my opinion, one of the few moments where the film is better than the book. Alan's beautiful performance (RIP), the swelling music, and the gorgeous cinematography add to something that just cannot be captured through written text. But serious credit to Rowling for making the most tragic character of the 21st century. One of the best scenes in any films
