This recording was when this song was 3 days young. Well after 5 decades, it aged like the best fine wine.

This song came out the same year I was born. My mother who is abt the same age as Joni played the radio often and I remembered this song back then. It takes me back to a time when my life was so simpler.

Am a hard fan to Joni Mitchell. My sister is also a local folksinger and i always hear this in her reportoire. God bless her who is now gone and beyond.

Not only a musician, but an excellent poet she is, which I have loved to listen to her music, since 1966 when I was university student in a very poor country.
I used to sing this song with my guitar playing, but now I cannot, as my fingers do not work, although I still remember its lyrics.
Both sides now, it is life, our life which we have to face with and accept.

It’s so hard after listening to Joni, almost my entire life, to find the right words to express how much she means to me. Thanks for opening the Archives and releasing this Gem, now I am 65 and I really have looked at life from Both Sides Now, this song means even more to me than when I was 13-14-15, a few million years ago.❤️❤️❤️

good to find out Joni is a scorpio
Why does Joni say the song is about three days old when the first recording of this song is from the year prior, at the 2nd Fret in Philadelphia?
I think the old Second Fret bootleg was compiled from more than one show. The official release of a March 17, 1967 performance of Both Sides Now sounds to me like the same one as on the bootleg. If so that puts it after this radio performance rather than before.

Wasn't she something? I'm a first batch Gen X (Oct. 1965) and I just love her. My two friends (baby boomers) turned me on to "Songs for a Seagull" in January 1994. Been a big fan since. Joni in the winter. It's like my winter time music.
Joni is proof that angels walk among us. Shine on sweet soul! I hope she throws us adoring fans another bone to chew and savor on.

Interesting demo compared to the finished version. This feels a bit rushed but in the studio version there’s a nice melancholy ease that really transports you. Whatever the reason it’s a masterpiece!
