Very high maintenance equipment " bill correctly "! Ran a Gardner Denver air track installing heat pump loops , Always broken and lost many drill steels .
I've told this story before. I watched my family struggle with water problems. Caused by both drought and Vineyard Developments in the County drying up surface springs.. Our Neighbors had sunk thousands in dry holes. Which led my family to REFUSING to even consider that as an option. When the land passed to me....I took the plunge. In about 7 hours with a rig like this....set up on the only spot on 48 ac flat enough.....my ranch went from around 200 gallons of spring water per day....to 55 gallons a minute. I bit off even more, and cased the entire 380 feet, gravel packed it, and placed the pump 20 feet off the bottom. Resulting in 280 feet of water above it. . Hopefully a permanent solution to a situation I watched my family suffer from for around 50 years. Solved in one day ( and a few Check$ )
In my opinion those rigs are worth every $ !
Keep it in tip top shape, new drills are ridiculous and the used market is mostly junk. I'm living vicariously through your videos as I lost my rig 10 months ago to a compressor explosion. Insurance company took 4 months to pay, now I'm a pump guy for now - at least until the used market comes back to normal. But hey, just wanted to say I enjoy your content, your quality of work is very similar to ours and you're not afraid to Mythbust the Amazon pumps and other inferior products. Keep up the content, it'll keep me going, hopefully.
You can charge a 24v bank with a 2 12v chargers. Just connect the charger to the positive and negative of each battery. Charger one connects to positive and Negative of battery 1, Charger 2 connects to Pos and Neg of battery 2
Yeah, we've got a 500 kW Cummins/Onan genset and over the years the Onan branded battery charger, fully calibrated per the manual, would always boil the batteries dead after about a year. The charger was just there to keep the batteries topped up when the genset wasn't in use. I wound up pulling the fuse on the Onan charger and getting two smart chargers, one for each battery. Left them hooked up permanently.
That only works if they are fully isolated which not all chargers are.

a 3/4 x 144" NPTM SAE 100R16 hose costs 61 bucks. price drops from there all the way to 12 bucks for a 12 inch.
I worked at their factory in the mid-70s and built these. Great products. Loved that job !
If you get a heavy duty equipment battery charger that has a 24 volt setting , then you can charge both batteries together at 24 volts. Otherwise with a standard automotive battery charger you will have to charge them separately at 12 volts. Where you have the big stuff with some at 24 volts, spring for a 24 volt charger, you'll be glad you did, especially if you need to boost one of them!

You've shown getting the rig in the hands of folks that know the equipment inside and out is key. Running the rig down to even the local equipment shop will not provide the desired results. A trusted and proven shop is #1. You don't have to make repeated visits and lose more up-time. It appears there is a solid relationship there. The John Bean pumps have been around for ages and the design has withstood the test of time. All money well spent. No pun intended. Your return on investment will be come very soon. Congrats on the "almost new" feeling.

Two 12-volt batteries can be charged in series, yes. By doing this, the system’s voltage will be raised, enabling faster battery charging. The charging system must be capable of handling the higher Volts, and the batteries must be compatible with one another.
Yes you can charge or jump your battery's separately even while they are connected in a 24 volt starter configuration. Or use a 24 volt charger and charge both battery's at once use the 2 posts that leave the battery box, positive to positive and negative to negative.
Yes, you can run 2 chargers on the 2 batteries while connected without issue. You're better off disconnecting them from each other to prevent issues between the chargers.

Very special complex truck you have there with many special parts! Very proud of my well at my rural home that I moved to a year ago, it works great so far. Was told I have a newer pump, wasn't informed on how deep it is so I have no idea. No more paying for city water and sewer bills that was about $60 a month.
Drill rigs are a maintenance nightmare unless you keep on top of it, then it still takes work. Looks great!
Those are called 8D batteries. with the chargers I saw, no, you wouldn't want to charge them while connected. They did not look like 100% isolated chargers. To tell, put a multimeter from the negative lead to the ground pin on the power plug (or if it doesn't have ground, to the large pin) and if you see continuity then it is not isolated.
Wow the rig looks freaking awesome! They did a really good job on that repairing and fixing all the spots and it looks damn near new! I love it when I get new equipment and stuff, I always do my best to keep it clean after each job and put everything back all nice and neat and I try to keep doing that as long as possible. And then eventually you get that one job that you just want to get packed up and get out and done and any minute there staying to clean up and stuff is just hell. Lol and that's when the dirt starts back up again. But congrats! Nice to see that you guys invested money and fixing small items like the shimmy and stuff like that. Most companies would just let it go until there's a catastrophic failure because they don't want to spend the however thousands of dollars and a week or two downtime. So instead they wait for a catastrophic failure where they now have to buy a new rig and spend multiple weeks of downtime and moving jobs around and stuff lol
Wow ❤ lots of improvements but as grandfather always said: you got to spend money son to make money… lol as a teenager didn’t make much sense but years later makes perfect sense now 😂… Plus can’t have the books full an broke down. I know it’s a whole lot of cash laid out but oh my god to buy a brand spanking new rig? Makes that 120 thousand dirt cheep 😊 lol the ride home let the rig settle win probably didn’t have any leaks when they first tightened it, but that’s not uncommon for hydraulic after runs a little bit. Have to tweak them really really nice job on your rig.
Lead-acid batteries can be charged in serial only if they are in a same condition. By that i mean in your case we suppose that batteries are the same model, was installed brand new, always have been working in serial and need same current to charge.
In some cases if you take old and new battery the old one needs a big current to charge but the new one gonna boil from this current. But if you would charge them separately the charger will handle it.

the best way to charge 24v system is with a 24 volt charger ( not that expensive) but it's doable with 1 or 2 12 volt chargers , 1 charger per battery ( no disconnecting needed ) , i haven't see too many people comfortable with this arrangement cause you end up with a pos and neg on your jumper wire that's between both batteries, most choose to remove jumper to charge both with 2 12 volt chargers . one thing i like doing is evaluating battery health , making sure all batteries are in good condition first ,those did look like you can check electrolyte level ( if all are a little low then add distilled water but if there's big differences then assume bad cells , my 2 cents , good video
You can leave the batteries connected while using a 12 volt charger as long as you connect the leads of the charger directly to the battery you are charging. You can even use two chargers at the same time as long as you connect to each battery.

You can’t charge a 24v series string with a 12v charger. Voltage must match. You can however charge each battery independently without disconnecting the series jumper that goes between the batteries. Just make sure the polarity into each independent battery you are charging is correct and matches the alligator clips on the charger
Hello, if you connect positive to positive and negative to negative it gives you the same 12 volts but it will take twice as long to charge the two batteries using two chargers it is faster

I would charge them separately. Because you may find??? that the required amps are more then your charger can handle???? My normal sized diesel batteries when new and needing charging , I would charge each for a day , then parallels them to charge the two .
I would find that they would start at 6 amps then the end of that day go down to about 2 amps. Top up your batteries with {{{ distilled water }} Mark the bottle accordingly. for next time.

Yes, you can use two chargers, if they are transformer based, not shure about smart chargers with a switching power supply, you can connect a pos+ cable from the charger to the negative -, of yhe other charger, them the pos+ to the pos+ of one battery, negative of the other, leaving the batteries connected...
battery charging can be done while in Parrell just takes longer.

Do not try and put your 12 volt charger across the 24v battery configuration as you showed in the vid.. Do your two 12v chargers + to - on each of the two batteries. Big congratulations on getting your rig serviced and upgraded. You must be feeling successful, proud and glad to have it back!! Nice job! Your business is thriving!

I think some battery tender chargers are floating so you might be able to maintain them also Amazon solar trickle chargers should work

you can charge each of them with their own 12 V charger positive to negative just like a single battery and do it twice or two different 12 V chargers one on each battery or if you have a 24 V charger positive and negative charges both at the same time
not generally considered a good idea in the industry to charge one and not the other they should be about the same capacity
but if you have one dead one and the others still good that's what you might have to do
If you have a 24 volt charger you can charge them both together, otherwise they must be separated and charged separately.

Yes they are paved over. The RxR uses the tracks as Storage. We like it bc its a privacy fence when cars are on track
120k is a small price to pay if it helps avoid expensive repairs while in the middle of a job.
what is sad is the new rules coming down from the EPA will obsolete your drilling rig, and force well drillers to invest into drilling rigs that captures the drill cuttings in a confined system to be disposed of as toxic waste, due to the heavy metal contaminants in the rock strata that might exist.
The EPA is in the process applying the rules that has applied to the Oil and Gas well drilling industry to the water well drilling industry.
I was talking to a well driller I know, and he asked me to call congress over the proposed actions of the EPA over water well drilling requiring the full capture of drill cuttings from water well drilling.
He was telling me if the rules go in to effect it could put him out of business or require him to invest in a costly upgrade to his drilling rig to capture the drill cuttings, instead of allowing them the run across the land.
Talk about bread and butter.

Is there a reason why you do not drill in the rain, I have spent many years drilling oil and gas wells we did not shut down for weather?
Could be better depending on how often you charge them to put a solar panel with a lead acid BMS/solar mppt

You can not charge 24 volt with 12 volt, voltage drop won’t allow but you can jump 24 with two 12 if wired to 24
Yup can also charge 12 to 12 if you put charger to only the 12 volt battery but it will not be efficient you can test by putting a volt meter on each battery while still hooked put as 24.(with a meter test voltage while still hooked up +\- on each battery and you get 12 but if you check at one + and the other- you’ll get 24 )
They make 24 volt chargers. You can remove the jumper cable and charge individually safely.
Probably 10k in hydraulic lines alone....

Not sure where to actually post this or if I get a response, but I desperately need help. When we went to bed last night everything seemed fine with our water, but this morning we had no running water whatsoever. We have a deep well and the pump was replaced just over 6 months ago. I pray it's not the pump, we are a fairly low-income family and I just do not have the money to replace that. There was a small leak before the pressure switch and tank that I noticed a couple of weeks ago but I did not have the means to repair it so I had to just leave it for the time. I have also had to kill the power to the well pump a few times because of issues with our water heater over the past several days. I don't know if either of those things played a role in the water no longer working or not. I just really need to figure out how to get our water back. We have had a really terrible streak of bad luck over the past couple of weeks. In the span of just under 2 weeks our lawn mower quit on us, our water heater stopped working, our stove went out, my electric smoker bit the dust, and now worse of all we have no running water. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much and God bless.
Was the leak bad enough to possibly drain the well dry? (If the well doesn't produce much gpm it's definitely possible)
Keep the breaker off for 5-6 hours should help.
First id start by watching my pressure switch video & pressure tank videos. Located in the Playlist section. Test/inspect both items to make sure they are infact in good operating condition. Then try turning on the pump breaker. You can only inspect the tank and switch while the powers off & water pressure is at 0psi
Drill rig maintenance is expensive. Our compressor oil change is about $3000 every 1000 hours. That is for 1 oil separator, 2 spin on filters and 25 gallons of synthetic coolant.
$65 a gallon oil! X 30 gallons! 3 filters and a separator! Yup! 3 Grand for a oil change! But it's a must on a $60k compressor
@@h2omechanic i am located in central America, so shipping costs and taxes increase those prices significantly. we run a couple of T4Ws and they use mobil rarus (other brands are almost the same price). Each bucket was about $350.00 each for our last service and a separator is now $1200 with freight and taxes (thanks doosan). Thanks for the videos, I only used to drill wells but your videos encouraged me to start installing pumps. I just got a mini excavator to copy your installation with trenches (please don't sue me).
U can connect them in parallel, then u can hookup the 12VDC charger on one, it charges both of them at the same time. Just connect the two -ve together and the two +ve together (parallel configuration), then connect the 12V charger will do just fine.

Hydraulic pumps and main gear box $$$
5 weeks of labor , 3 men , 125hr per man. Plus parts. Steel, 80 hydrolic hoses+ pumps, motors, Cat Engine inspection. The 3 page list goes on & on! It's below what I was expecting!
You haven't bought a hydraulic hose recently, have you? One hose hurts my soul, much less an entire rig worth of hoses.

2006 the last of the Good Years! 2007+ went to computer systems that fail due to the environment & now new rigs run on a PTO off the front motor. I'll never own a different machine, only keep this one in tip top shape! I can cut 400ft in 8hrs. Doesn't get much faster than that!
@@h2omechanic My dad worked in First Test Dept from 1965 until 1987. He saw the new compressor designs come into production, then the company fell on hard times for a few years. I grew up in West Chester.
@@h2omechanic man I get that! I’m a Geotech guy. Our main machine is a CME75 about that age, you can actually figure out what wrong.
