I'd like to add, from a gaming stand point, that if you're into emulation on the go then this is definitely the tablet for you. However, unless Huawei plans to do a software update in the future, the Media Pad M5 currently does not support video output via the USB-C jack. Therefore, you cannot hook this up to a television to play your emulated games from the couch with bluetooth controllers. When all's said and done, this is still an amazing value. I've owned mine for about a month so far and I have zero other criticisms. :)
If they get rid of the headphone jack they need to put two USB type-c ports on the tablet so you can charge and listen to music at the same time instead of using a dongle

was planning on buying this but there is an issue with wi-fi+blutooth being us concurrently. Unless there a firmware update i don't think this can be resolved on firmware level as they both share same antenna.

Any issue on wifi download speeds when also using bluetooth headphones? Heard a few negative vibes that the wifi gets slow and laggy. Thanks in advance for advice.
great review. i really can't get my head around this headphone jack removal crap! yea, apple did it cz it owns an exclusive port by which apple can squeeze more money out of customers! but what is other companies' excuse?! lack of space?!?! this tablet has all the space in the world! the reason is clear, they are doing it cz apple is doing it! apple is like a God to them. they just tend to sniff on any kind of crap apple shoots out! disappointing.
On the left of the usb there are holes as there are on the right of the usb. Is that the left part of one speaker or the mic? U can check by covering it and see if there is difference
The only speaker holes on the bottom of the tablet is to the right of the USB. There is no speaker on the left. However the holes on the top of the tablet are for one long speaker.

Two totally different price points. Also the Samsung has the S pen, the Huawei doesn't. I went with the Huawei because of it's price point, and the lack of the digital pen input didn't matter to me.

Can you connect this tablet directly to a USB-C monitor?
Do they play videos at 1080p, Netflix, youtube and videos in general? I heard that was a problem. Thanks
UA-cam videos can play back at 1080p. Videos in Netflix play back in HD, but I can't tell if it's 1080p or 720p. It looks good though.
Huawei already released a patch to solve this issue, now it plays in 1080p.

I haven't experienced slow WiFi with my Bluetooth headphones.

I agree with you I have the m3 lite and would love this tablet but the headphone jack holds me back...

The holes to the left of the USB are for the mic. The speaker is on the right side of the USB.

A good thing they used the same multi-functional home button as on the P20 Pro. I HATE display buttons.
Hi Jeremy, does it do EMUI desktop mode when you plug it into a monitor like the Mate 10 series?
I'm not sure. I don't have a USB-C to HDMI cable to test it out.
The 10.8 versions (regular and pro) have desktop mode. The 8.4 version does not.

Apples to apples Mediapad 10.8 has M-Pen stylus support, I didn’t need it so ordered the 8.4.
Good review, but only because apple has better 3rd party apps, I'll be still with them. What a shame.
