As always. You make art fun. I never feel stress or pressure as an artist watching your tutorials😊
awwww im so glad!!!!
@RossDraws I agree! Its so inspiring, you’re my favorite yt artist!☺️
100% ageed he is the main reason i got into art
My biggest struggle with art is the sketching phase. I genuinely struggle to not slowly and methodically make my first sketch look almost like final lineart, even though I know it's important and just way easier if I go quick and loose with the initial sketch to give me a base to work off of.
Dont really need to make your first sketch the same with your final, for me my first sketch is where i just predict the proportions are so it could be jack shit at first but as you work on it that is where it will all come together. Personally i really love the sketching phase because of how fun it is to see your art slowing coming to place as you work on it. Just dont sweat it dude like everything it just needs the practice and i'm sure you'll get the hang of it.
As you get better and broaden your visual library, each stroke u make with your lines will take less effort to convey the same thing. In other words, as you improve, you’ll gradually start to use less and less lines when sketching.
Sounds like the perfect opportunity to make 2 social media posts about the same art, one for your sketch and one for the final
That's because you don't have the skills to skip phases yet. I was the same, I used to do a more detailed lineart to make sure I'm not messing up my final piece. That's very understandable and is part of the process so don't be confused with this since you're still learning a lot.
It’s important to be confident. It depends but for me I don’t do line-art I just color over it
My biggest struggle is color theory for sure. its always hard deciding what colors to use and how to make them work together. so this tutorial was REALLY helpful!
Best way to understand is to just start doing. You'll mess up, but you'll learn more than if you did nothing at all. Fundamentally, color theory is all about feel... For the most part. You could try doing monochromatic stuff initially.
My art struggle is creating appealing backgrounds.
Thanks Ross for always being an inspiration 🎨🖌️🤩
Ah yes the background- they never fail to challenge me :
First of all, thank you for the video!! Literally have always struggled with skin tones! I’d say the biggest struggle in my art currently is the transition between traditional and digital art. Now that I’m in uni and finally bought myself a Cintiq I’ve been wanting to do more digital art but its such a different experience compared to traditional, which I’ve been doing pretty much all my life! I’m slowly getting the hang of it and your videos are definitely a huge help so thank you again!!
im SO GLADDDDDD that this video has helped you!! Wishing you ENERGY on art journey!
@@RossDraws hey why did you turn Ana from Overwatch into a white lady? And now you're trying to teach people about skin tones lmao
For me the biggest struggle is my perfectionism. I have a huge problem to call drawing "finished" because I will always find some imperfections. This doesn't affects my daily sketches as much as my student assigments/potential portfolio piece. I put pressure on myself to make only perfect artworks, but I forgot that art isn't about perfection. Art is about feeling. I am working on that. :)
Very thankful you included a darker skin tone and took as much time with that. Thanks as always for being amazing.
I think my biggest struggle with art is actually sitting down and drawing. I see a lot of talented artists, just like Papa Ross, and think I will never get at their level because they are far too good. The colors, shading, lineart, perspective, specularity, anatomy, character design, environment, everything Ross draws/paints is just so perfect that is overwhelming. I have so many ideas and so many illustrations done in my head, but I lack the skill, then I become disappointed with myself and never finish what I started. Thank you for the tips and the awesome video, as always!
"The Habbits of Effective Artists" video on the Blender channel will definitely help. It was such an eye opener for me. Good luck🍀!
Thank you so much for always giving so many tips and help to your community. You're amazing Ross!
The thing I struggle with the most in art, I think, is to actually bring my characters to life. They always fall flat and lack that oomph at the end.
It's always nice to hear you in your videos, you sound like your having fun and talking to a friend, just nice to listen too (bonus if we can learn)
I get stumped on figure and anatomy most of the time, refrences have helped more recently.
ROSS HAS POSTED EVERYONE!! I’ve been longing for this tutorial 😔✊
HELL YEA!!! pls enjoy it!!
Your skills are FIRE!! 🔥
My biggest struggle rn is blending the line art with the finished piece. Blessings to you, I'm stoked to try these tips and tricks, thank you for creating this 🙏🖤
Ross, I got an iPad for the holidays and tried painting skin on my own and a new layer with your tutorial... it's honestly hilarious how much better they look! Thank you again for making such easy to follow videos and giving us a laugh
Really useful tutorial 👍 I usually struggle with digital painting in general. I am more accustomed with traditional art, so I really appreciate this tutorial. The explanation of tools and techniques used to paint skin will help me in the future ❤️
As an art student for almost 4 years, I can confidently say you’re an amazing instructor. I actually never thought about the more redness and purpleness in the darker skins, i just did what i saw. Nice point Ross!
Amazing tutorial and super helpful! Baby digital artist just starting out, so my struggles never end! Proportions, picking colors, background, lighting, the list goes on. So your videos are a life saver, thank you!
Thank you for still providing your advice on this topic of art. I appreciate it so much! I struggle with storytelling in my art because the characters I create need a backstory and showcase more of how they would interact with one another in that universe.
Ross, this is magnificent! Thank you for the awesome tips. They are gorgeous! 😍
My painting has A LOT to impprove yet, but thanks to your tips it already made a HUGE difference!
Thank you sooo much🥺🥺❤
This is absolutely necessary for me. Finding the right shadows is absolutely needed
Thanks Ross, this was awesome and super helpful. Really validating too as I'm only just learning to paint digitally but the hard round brush and the airbrush have already become my two main weapons!
This video is literally a blessing LOL Thank you!!! I always struggle with how i want to add feeling and depth into my drawings and how to make them feel more lively rather than static :,)
i just loved learning about how u render skin, as well as the many ways to color them! Amazing as always!!
I've been watching you for such a long time and purchased prints from you too! They are so lovely and make my bedroom wall look so modern and beautiful. Thank you for everything you do. You are amazing and inspirational to soo many :)
It's always nice seeing you Ross, first I wanna thank you for the quality content you're sharing almost every other artist now is OBSESSED with sharing these quality tutorials only on patreon so thank you it was very helpful!
Back to the question I'd say my biggest struggle with art is still anatomy im trying 😭😂
Ugh Yeeeees! Finally. Thank you so much ross.
Super helpful! Thank you so much for breaking the process down to easy to understand steps!
wow😊, as always, I have learned a ton in just a few short minutes and had a good time in the process. Your content is always a highlight of the day! Thanks so much for this one!
Yoooo!! Such a great and informative video! I def recall reading different color tones through the skin somewhere. But it makes more sense seeing it done visually. But I love how adding highlights with a more textured brush is like the perfecct middle ground for a sharp/soft texture on the skin.
Seeing the b4 and after really does make it seem more realistic. Ive been working on my first assignment this week for the DABC. Im going to try and keep these tips in mind!
The biggest art struggle I have is actually sitting down to study, I love art, I love painting, but actually sitting down to put in the hard work and study and forcing my brain to pay attention and soak in the information is the hardest bit. That’s why UA-cam videos like this are really helpful to me, they’re entertaining and they keep me learning :)
love these soft details
For me I stuggle with anatomy and realism, I love your art, watching your videos got me into digital art and now I love it!!
You make it look so easy! Such skill!
great video as always, ross!! this is really helpful.
to answer your question, my biggest struggle in art is anatomy. im really insecure about it 😅
perspective is also really challenging. but because i dont draw backgrounds or characters in perspective that much, it doesn't really stop me from creating arts that i enjoy.
a quick reminder for you, i want you to know how great you are as an artist. you're my biggest motivation in art, you've been inspiring me for years. i found your channel back when i was 10 or 11, and now im 16. i learn a lot from you 🤍✨
getting notifications about this while rendering skin luv u ross ❤
Ross we miss you :((( where are youuuu :((((
This is actually so helpful, thanks so much Ross 💖💖💖😊
Tutorials are very appreciable!
Amazing tutorial. I'm gonna sit down and try it right now. I haven't had time/energy to draw anything in a while, so thanks, I really needed this.
(To answer your question at the end of the video: some things I struggle with, among many others 😅 is how to make movement, stances and such feel more natural.)
Thank you for posting this video.. I love the energy of you and your work.
My biggest struggle is shading and color still so this video really helped! Appreciate the informative and inspiring video Ross!
YOU CAN'T IMEGINE HOW I NEEDED THIS THANK YOU
These are amazing as always
I love your vids! Thanks for great art tips and lovely friendly vibe!!
Soooooooo excited for this
thank you for reminding me again of the color zones in the face
i learned it before but forgot about it 'coz i don't render my recent art pieces (which is more sketch than an art piece)
also, i learned more on the different characteristic of each skin tone, i agree that sometimes, i make my skin tones look sickly
Wow ! In the first 4 minutes , I learned things i never knew ! DUDE ! Subscribed.
Absolutely the best digital artist I've seen on the internet! (of course, I still have 3-4 favorites, but you are the most interesting).
Thank you very much for this free tutorial and for many others that you post here!
Unfortunately, I don't have the necessary money to buy your courses or products now, but I swear that the moment I make money I will buy them!
Please do more tutorials, such as one on how to use the mixerbrush and anything related to photoshop and digital art.
Thank you once again!
This was such a great video! I think my biggest art struggle is light since I don’t always plan it out and then end up redoing it over and over again during the painting process 😅
Beautiful. I really learned something.
INCREDIBLE!! GREAT TIPS! THANKS!!😍😍
Thanks for this vídeo Ross! Really aprecciate it!
I think I have the most trouble with shadows so this video and your hair tutorial are very helpful guides that I look back at a lot!
Thanks Ross, beautiful job
I wanna say my biggest struggle right now is rendering and making the piece look cohesive and finished. Recently I learned that after I add my overlay/color doge layers sometimes my piece becomes washed out. The way I try to combat that issue is by adding more multiply layers on top and push the highlights and shadows as far as possible. So far this technique is working and helping me push to finish some pieces that I've been stuck on! Thanks again Ross for sharing your expertise. I really enjoyed this video.
wow! amazing work bro! lots of love!
Thank you Ross u are my favorite artist and your tutorials are fantastic
These artists draw the most easiest and the most common face/beauty ever! Why, can't think of a unique beauty that is one in a million? How unimaginative and TRULY creative 😢
My biggest struggle is definitely coloring my art. The face is the hardest and the tip about the color zones helped me a lot! Im gonna put it to practice right away
thank you for including dark skin tones. it was interesting to see the different approach
This is a great video! I find it really hard to find someone break it down on youtube as well as you do!
Great video, I learned so much!
Honestly, my current struggle is actually the creativity part. I've been drawing still life, but I can't think of something of my own to draw!
That and color. 🌟
Gorgeous! As always! 👏
This is a good painting tutorial in general showing what to use and how big positive
I was thinking how to draw better skin some days ago and u put up a video about it at the perfect time, thank you very much ^^
I like this type of video because you start to understand a lot more about the drawing.
Wow. Just wow 😍
Thank you, you helped my skin tone look so much better.
My biggest struggles are definitely anatomy, perspective and hand eye coordination! And a bonus struggle: Finding a drawing process that is fast but doesn’t look like crap YwY
My biggest struggle in my art is Anatomy. It's okay if I'm using reference photos but when it comes to drawing from memory I really struggle.
I don't know what exactly i need to do to improve ,but what I'm doing now is drawing a lot of gesture drawings of action poses whenever I get free time. I hope it will help me in the future.
hey ross! awesome video as always! i was just looking for something on the topic of painting skin too, so great timing on that!!
the biggest struggle i have within my art is the ability to see it as… alive. i love to add lots of colors and fun lighting effects, and a lot of people have told me that my art style radiates with energy! but i can barely see it as more than lines and blocks of color because i have aphantasia (an inability to visualize in my head). sometimes i can get satisfaction out of flipping my canvas or even turning it upside down, but after a while, i don’t feel connected to the piece anymore and i can’t see the full picture as it is (even from far away). it makes it super difficult for me to connect with and enjoy my art process. but i’ve been looking for other artists with the same struggles for advice! things like taking a break, changing up my workflow, and making sure to get enough rest to energize my brain have all helped me a ton. and so, i’m still trying my best to learn and improve on my art journey! thank you so much for the constant motivation ans inspiration you give me every day! and good luck to everyone entering the giveaway! 💙
I think one of my struggles whenever I draw is anatomy and perspective🥺 Mostly when I do commission, they are usually in a shoulder length cut so I kind of know how the position of the head works in drawing but when there are a half/full body involved, I find it really difficult because I want them to look natural and not stiff or awkward. I should probably work on that and practice more often. Btw, Great video tutorial, Ross! Very helpful and Fun!❤️
this video is literally what i need
I find it incredible that each face have different structures and features.
Well my biggest struggle not being able to sketch slowly or take my time on making sketches its always rushed 😥 it's a hassle
Yet your videos has been helping cope and improve little by little
You are a big inspiration
the reason every body likes friday.tomorow is saturday
the reason i love friday. its rosses new video
this is gold. thanks!
Wow. I’m a beginner. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I’ve learned so much!!
biggest struggle with art rn is learning anatomy especially face anatomy and having structure in my art, your bootcamp has helped me get better with rendering for sure but might have to revisit some of the starting classes for structural learning.
This is exactly what I was looking for, thanks.
My biggest art struggle is lighting and colors but i am also trying to learn to make my lineart less prominent. Thank you for the great tips and video!
i love that u included different skintones
I love Ross so much 😥😭 super helpful contend as always
thank you for another awesome video Ross! and just like you i struggle so much with perspective... (and everything in fact)
I finally bought your book Nima and I love it
i missed watching your videos ross!!!!
Good morning! Thanks for this!
Loveeeed the video 💕💕 Thank you for sharing
Thank you for your nice turorial, your art is so beautiful as always !
I love this it was really helpful!!!!
Color Dodge is Magic 🪄
this was so helpful thank you!!
My biggest struggle is not having original ideas. As a beginner in art, I feel like whatever I do i'm purely referencing/if not copying somebody else's work.
And my second struggle was painting skin!! Thank you so much for your vidéo ❤️
Thank you for this tutorial, it helps a lot❤
Thank you soo much for this dude!!!!! I really need to practice on skin tones
My biggest struggle in art is honestly either enjoying my art to the fullest because sometimes I just shutdown and anatomy especially with hands arms or shoulders btw luv ur videos and have been begging for this for yrs so thx ross
Thank you for this video! My biggest struggle (aside to not having the confidence I need) is coloring over line art, lol. My line work is decent, but as soon as I start coloring over it, I start to dislike it. The technique to gradually lower the line art's opacity is genius! It inspired me right away to charge my tablet up and try painting again (due to work I haven't really been able to draw much).
This is very helpful. Also, I prefer to use an airbrush as well, it's my go to when I'm adding shading to anything! I am going to keep coming back to this video to help me finish my current project.
dude you're the best!!
