Everytime a new Sinix video is out, he redefines art for me, ,whenever i think i understood a little bit of an especific painting fundamental, he shows me that there is a lot more things to learn. Anyway, thanks for making me a better artist, Sinix.
The thing that impresses me the most about master artists is their ability to communicate so much visually with very little value or color shift. I always end up doing a lot of contrast though because when I start with little, I feel like my paintings look washed out. I suppose it'll come with practice.
late reply but same. I always change the color way too much and the contrast ends up being too much. I have to remember that small color changes work too :’)
The funny thing about these videos is that at first when I was a beginner, I just took the tips and that's it, now that I'm decent at painting, I still get some stuff out of the tips, but I can evolve a lot by studying the finished paintings at the end The structure of these videos is just great
same! i started watching sinix when i was a sophmore in highschool & now i’m going into my 3rd year of art school and these videos are still incredibly beneficial
Honestly ever since the beginning I always loved to just improve from just staring at someones art and trying to understand lil detail🤣 Even until now. Tho I do like to listen to tutorials and tips on how to draw stuff at times
Okay I know I'm late but no one is talking about how sweet Sinix is by giving attention to darker skin tones. If you looked up "skin painting tutorial" right now you'd get many tutorials for light tones. I love artists that can see beauty in variety. (Especially when they don't make excuses for a lack of variety) Thank you Sinix 💙
I understand why though I would like to draw many skintones but If I try and learn all at the same time I wouldn't get anywhere. So for now I focus on the most important which since me and my family and most people I know are white is lightskin. I'm sure most of the other users of English UA-cam are the same hence the prevelance of light skin tutorials.
@@raghudurina2354 op is just grateful for the diversity of skin tones in this tutorial video but you had to step in with a absurd comment. saying thet most of the users on english youtube are lightskinned is such a bizarre claim to make
i am so genuinely grateful that you have differentiated lighter skin tones and darker skin tones EXPLICITLY. so many artists, as you said, just try to use the same method for light for dark, and it just doesn’t turn out well. thanks sinix!
12:10 It comes full circle! Sinix 10 Years ago: Drawing like a Painter Sinix now: Paint (hard edges) like a drawing jkjk, I think that's a great tip that I'll keep in mind!
YESS CURRENTLY PAINTING SOMETHING FOR A SCHOOL ART PROJECT AND IM SO GOING TO USE ALL OF THE INFORMATION IN THIS! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE HARD WORK YOU PUT INTO THESE VIDEOS, SINIX!
There is nothing else I watch; with my hands on my head as I just sit in complete awe and despair of someone elses skills. Sinix is honestly a master of art.
"you need to process the painting as if that were a line on your line drawing" christ this helped me out so much, I've been confused on how and where to do edges for the longest time. ty sinix!
I started get bored with art tutorials because most of them said the same thing over and over and i thought i heard it all before. But this video gave me a whole new perspective and made me realize things i never even thought about
As a beginner digital artist with a traditional drawing background, this actually helps a lot. Color theory and skin is much the same in terms of color, and hue, however drawing things digitally (specifically coloring) as well as new methods of rendering and layers have made it a learning process. I’m now really into digital art and think it’s am amazing art medium. This channel has helped me greatly improve my digital art!
I love how you started with values & laid down the fundamentals for hues. I often find myself fumbling with skin painting, but it's actually quite interesting to see various types of lighting & shadows based on environments by painting skin. Thanks for this informative video, Sinix!
I can’t believe some fellow artist don’t recommend your tips.. your work is the closest thing that I’ve had to a real teacher.. you’re art is amazing and what helped me get better at art.❤
For the first time in my whole life i've finally understood the different approaches to painting lighter and darker skin tones. Highly valuable information! Thank you so much!
Finding your channel has really helped my art style pop out. I could never find a good reference for what I was going for. Your 'simple' tutorials saved me so much time and made me feel better and more comfortable about my style. Thank you for your hard work and so much info put easily out here for us!! Your channel helped me finally find my preferred style of art. I look forward to actually doing streams soon.
So much of this is not only applicable in digital art but also in traditional painting and drawing. I have definitely learned something new and I am excited to implement the techniques and tips in my art! Thank you so much for this!
underrated. I have a medium skin tone and everything makes more sense on why i have trouble with darker tones. I never even though about the reflection thing thank you!
Oh man. It's like Sinix is psychic. I was literally looking through your channel an hour ago. Looking for videos I haven't watched yet. And it just so happens I've been trying to do better at skin rendering now. This is excellent.
Amazing video as always! It always blows my mind how little art resources are available that are truly inclusive of darker skin tones. Great to see this absolutely wonderful video that teaches the color theory that goes deeper into the thinking behind how skins of all color work.. and teaches you how to paint light in the process. Can’t thank you enough for it :)
Though even just watching you paint skin in other videos has been really helpful already The amount of information that is possible to get by just watching skilled artist's process is amazing
Beyond your great art, you are so kind soul! My fav channel on this YT! Your voice and spirit makes me calm and I want to paint more!!! Keep that spirit rolling, I am here and I see you.
i'm amazed how much information you can pack into a 20 minutes video. you're the only one that could simply explain those to my monke brain. thanks man!
It’s so true how a lot of artists take a one size fits all approach with skin-tone and even hair! I’m so glad this tutorial was made!! I’ve seen a-lot of people inadvertently lighten characters and create characters with dull skin and greyish tones and it’s been miffing because the effort is there but the execution is lacking. No more ashy skin!! Hopefully more people learn! I hope more people can find as much enjoyment as I do coloring/shading/rendering skin.
Thank you so much Sinix, its been almost a year since I last drew or painted something because of lack of motivation and things going on in my life. But, my life's getting better and I was thinking to get back into drawing and painting, and this vid helped me so much, Thank you once again!!!
the thing differentiating opacities between skin tones was so cool! Making a character with more translucent/fairy like skin and a character with opaque/reflective skin was something i never thought about when making fantasy characters. It adds a whole new dimension.
I might have already commented on this video, but I don't care. Every time I watch your videos, no matter how many times I watch them, I learn something new I can apply. Thank you so much for sharing the mastery of your craft!
I can’t express how grateful I am for this tutorial… I’ve just made my first digital sketch and it looks as if I’d been doing this for months! Such an improvement ❤ I might start getting more into digital because of how much I’m enjoying it. Thank you so much!

The full body sketch at 9:28 it's a freaking awesome optical illusion!!! You can either see it as if the guy is facing the camera with his right arm flexed, or if he has his back facing the camera with his left arm flexed!
I've been an artist for years, and I'm pretty good compared to when I first started. But I've always struggled with colors more specifically skin. I'm partly colorblind so regular reference images never seemed to help, but this video? The other videos for anatomy? It's been a life saver, I come back every month or so just to relearn this advice and my art never hurts from it
