Just put my Sena SMH-10 on my RF-1400, even put the ear covers back in over the speakers (minus the foam which I cut off, but the 4 tabs stay on the fabric to hold it back in). You can separate the hard foam lining slightly away from the shell and slip the clamp in and the wires in. And the speaker boom hops under the chin curtain, just right. The clamp and unit gets near the shield but misses it. No extra ear pinching and I'm so happy. It has a lot of features, even a lever to snug up on the faceshield when the seal gets baggy. Oh and the air openings each have a midway detent (setting).

With your upright posture how effective are the two side vents on the crown? Do you get any air in them?

Was your helmet taking all the wind or does your motorcycle have a tall windshield on it?

The own an Shoei Qwest and love their helmets. The only problem with the RF-1400 I see is the center visor button. I'll have a GoPro mounted in the front and I think that button will bug the crap out of me. Trying to decide to buy the RF-1200 or RF-1400. Thanks for the info it really helps. Take care👊

Your channel is great. I also just picked up the RF1400. Seems ok except for two things. Very hard to put on and very tight on the cheeks. Mine is a medium size. There are thinner cheek pads available from Shoei but the dealer has no info as it’s a new model. They’ve sent out an email to their rep.

@@VintageSteeland700s_1 I did see the table in the manual. Shows that the medium size comes with the standard size 35 cheek pad. Looser fit is the 31. No part/item number provided in my multi lingual 101 page manual. I’m in Canada.

@@VintageSteeland700s_1 Thanks for checking. Dealer wasn’t sure if RF1200 cheek pads are the same thus the call to the Shoei rep.

I'm about ready to return mine for the same reason. It rips my ears off trying to get it on and extremely tight cheeks and lower jaws

    Hey man,
Great review. Have you worn it in hot weather? How does it perform on a hot day in terms of ventilation/temperature?

I actually just got back from a weekend trip with it, logged about 400 miles with temps between 68-92. Between varied speeds, highway, stop and go traffic, etc it was fantastic. In traffic having the visor open was necessary of course... but on the freeway just having the center top vent open was enough for me. Others may want more airflow, so thankfully there's two other vents to open up top, along with the chin vent (albeit it's for the visor to help prevent fogging) I hope that helps! I also have the chin curtain on it at all times, so it would probably flow even more air without it

Really leaning towards this helmet to upgrade my Scorpion R style. Didn't realize I had bought a "race" version from their line, so the vent scheme and shape sucks ass for my upright seating style. Even mild buffeting made longer rides brutal, so hoping this helmet fixes that for me!

Would u say the race style helmet would okay for a sport bike on the street? Or is it only made for tucking on the track ?

    Wow, that's a great video.
I think your helmet looks good on you and it's good for keeping the wind in check.
Watch your video full to the end.
I'm glad to be a friend of your great channel.
    Happy New Year.

Shoei is definitely a complete quality helmet in comparison to Biltwell , there's no competition there.

Which would you recommend the x14 or rf 1400 for loud exhaust

    • @VintageSteeland700s_1
      @VintageSteeland700s_1  3 роки тому

I don't have experience with the x14 so I'm not sure how loud/quiet it is in comparison to the rf-1400. And noise levels from a helmet are subjective, so if you can I would recommend going for a test ride with both helmets to see how you like them 🤙
