Thank you kindly Gwyn, alas these lockdowns have prevented me from being able to do anything so I hope to get back out as soon as i'm able to. Hope you and family are keeping well ~Peace~
Zed, you’ve captured and shared absolutely priceless information from UK craftsmen/women. I truly appreciate it and find these lessons very effective and entertaining.
Thanks so much. Nice to watch another lefty carving! Love that so many carvers are willing to share their skills and knowledge to newbies like myself. One day I hope to visit the old country again soon. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
A sincere thank you for watching and for the kind words Amanda. There's a really lovely and vibrant spoon carving community growing in Australia which is a joy to see ~Peace~
I tried to save this for later in December but I couldn't wait. Lovely to see you both. I still say if English Heritage had half the brains they aspire to, then they would give Zed a generous stipend to produce this type of documentary all over the country.
Yay! Jill Swan’s video on your channel was an early one for me, and the first one I recommend to new carvers! Thrilled to see a part 2! I was “star struck” to carve with Jill online! Cheers!
It was wonderful to watch this peaceful and educational video. This what is especially peaceful on this Thanksgiving Day here in the USA when the atmosphere around us his uncertain. Thank you.
You are always welcome Robert and worth mentioning that Jill is organising a spoon gathering this summer in Kent called 'Spoontown' where we will be in attendance ~Peace~
I find your video's very inspirational 👌. Nice to see you team up again with Miss Swan, after such a long time. The tutorial ( all of them I'd say ) is very clear. Thank you both for your time and effort you've put into this 👌. ✌
So impressed with your control. I've been working on learning to use an axe and can never seem to hit the same exact spot twice. Guess it's probably about practice. Great video!
Jill is brilliant. Always learn a lot from her. Great teacher! Thank you for this. P.S. The background music was distracting. Your videos are great Zed. Like the peeks around and you have a great eye for letting us see the carving.
Indeed yes I think you're right! i''ve been using their hand hatchet for quite sometime and will hopefully be upgrading to a Soulwood Creations axe soon ~Peace~
Hi Michelle thank you for your kind words, reg hatches it all depends on your budget and where you live. For a more affordable range I would recommend 'Wood Tools' in the UK and 'Greenhaven Forge' in the US ~Peace~
Great to see how your channel has developed since I first discovered it back in the year of "Swamp Bushcraft Show" Very interesting vid, thanks, something tranquil in these times of mayhem and nonesense. Cheers Ian
i just started spoon carving. I woke up at 430 am with visions of spoons. I wish I could talk with Jill Swan. I love the idea to leave the bark on. Does she have an email address so I could ask her questions?
Hi Nicole you are more than welcome to message Jill, the best way is via her Instagram which I have linked to in the description just below the video ~Peace~
High Zed, another great video sir, Jill's a damn good carver too, her scorp is something else, what a tool that is, she mentions Nick westerman, and also Lee stoffer, I guess nick makes the blades and lee makes the handles, does lee get the blades from nick and put it all together ?? Big question, how much would it cost ? Would i need to be seated when you give me the shock. This might give you a laugh!! When jill was doing her axe work and some of the cutting, I found myself tilting and turning my phone I time with her did make me feel a bit silly lol . Yet again all the best Be lucky. Les.
Hi Leslie first of all thank you for your kind words, Reg the Scorp, prices change so not sure what Lee charges nowadays. I must stress though that they sell out within minutes of him putting out a batch so you do have to be incredibly quick, well worth it though if you are able to get one ~Peace~
I appreciate you checking in Marso, alas these lockdowns in the UK have prevented me from being able to do anything. But hope to get back out soon as these restrcitions now lift! ~Peace~
Lovely spoons. Especialy like the birch. The music is a bit annoying. I have tinnitus so that may be why. Sort of like trying to read when the music is on. Some can and for some it is quite hard.
Hi Thomas, unfortunately the lockdowns here in the UK over the past year have prevented me from being able to film. But I will be back very soon and appreciate you checking in ~Peace~

Love this idea! I usually strip the bark right off my billets immediately, but after watching this video I think I'll be holding back next time!
Indeed yes most of us strip the bark off so this is a cool way of incorporating it into the design ~Peace~
